999 Lifesavers - South Croydon Electrocution & East Grinstead Train Collision Rescues
Two railway rescue stories from the BBC 999 Lifesavers series presented by Michael Buerk. In the first sequence a little boy wanders onto live railway tracks near his home in Croydon, South London. In the second sequence a train hits a fallen tree between East Grinstead and Dormans in East Sussex causing passengers to become trapped in the wreckage. Both stories show the rescues by the Emergency Services and contain scenes some viewers may find upsetting.

They should really add materials to those fences that won't tear after half a year. Carbon fibre is a good one, but it might be a bit overkill.

5:10 Why not just walk to a section of the line which was not live instead of crossing the section which was? This seems silly to me.

One of those 'time is of the essence' moments, I suppose. They waited long enough trying to trip the circuit, any more time checking and well..... Barry might not have been as lucky as he was. Its not the standard course of action, but in this occasion, it got the best ending it could
