Newcastle is a long term project. Also, there’s no way we’re going to let anyone know what are actual £££ situation is because that skulduggery just be daft.
And also for us to be come much better we need to be signing much bigger players too (not all of em as we know howe can work on players too) but maybe we can't sign cos these players that we're after are still playing some sort of European football
Financial reports came out our turnover is 372m euros(commercial 90m broadcasting 215m matchday 68 ) Man City 838m (commercial 407 broadcasting 343 matchday 88m) Chelsea 546m(commercial 262 broadcasting 190 matchday 93m) When we where taken over our commercial revenue was 33m euros that is how far we are behind
Big summer blowout is risky - we need to get into Europe first or we will have a no-show summer, an exodus of talent and likely Howe and Co, if we don't. It's never been more competitive for that Euro spot. Bournemouth disaster highlighted how thin our squad is with Barnes injured. I'm mildly concerned.
Thank you Matty, honestly it’s a headache trying to work out PSR, we still need to sell just to get a player in but we buggered ourselves under Ashley signing long term contracts and players that are now going to leave on a free.
All I know is that it’s an absolute joke that all these teams around us chasing Europe are strengthening…we can’t even get a loan in. Joke…it’s actually disheartening and frustrating
Hi Matty! Interesting stuff. I understood that the purpose of Paul Mitchell and the team was to identify and ready potential purchases for the club that are off the usual radar of Premier League club merry-go round players? Therefore, not 50+millionGBP for the same old names but under 20 million for up and coming rough or cut diamonds! I understand how and why Brighton and Bournemouth can unearth these players and make profits on them, but, I can't understand why we can't? As for selling our players that are no longer wanted, well they're obvious reasons why other clubs are slow in buying them........
Coz the dross we have we can’t get rid of and they get a better wage seeing their contract out than dropping to their levels in a lower league and less salary.
The problem with not bringing in new players is that you send the message to your current squad that you lack ambition. If Newcastle fails to qualify for a European cup the big stars are going to want out.
Man city owners Abu Dhabi United Group are not scared of spending compared to Newcastle Owners PIF. Obviously they are not running scarred of the premier league....
Why would you ever buy someone who could be a potential star, if you had to sell someone who was already a star. That makes zero sense. If you signed Guehi for 70mill for 7 years, you'd only need to sell someone for 10mill.
Just to clarify, you CAN sign players on contracts longer than 5 years, but their cost can only be amortized for PSR purposes over a maximum of five years.
That was the same bet/gamble/hope with Hall’s loan to buy; that bet was lost on the lost on the last domestic game of the season when the zero chance ManU won the FA Cup and meant that we were so sure that no one at the club bothered to plan how to sell the players unwanted to make up the difference. Hence two of the best youth players we will see out of ‘Howe-The First Class’ where sold
Excellent video, finally a balanced article about PSR. Look at Mitchell’s record, he was brought to get prospects for 10 to 20, developing them, selling half on and improving with the rest. I’d rather keep the money until we can pull another clubs pants down for a player, I never want to be in the position we were last June again.
Good video Matty. One thing though; why would Burnley sell Trafford now? They're bang on for promotion and have only conceded 9 goals. We might have to wait and hope they don't get promoted. Can imagine that there will be competition, maybe from Man Utd.
Conundrum is that we need to get Europe to keep and attract players! If we dont invest this window and we pick some injuries we might start sliding down the table! We must win the cup!
They might be cautious in case these interest free loans become part of PSR. Toon are one of the clubs voting for this to happen which would f*ck over several clubs using this method.
We are not getting anywhere when we get pumped 4-1 by the likes of Bournemouth at home. We will not sign anyone. We need stop giving astronomical wages to the likes of Target and Kelly which makes it impossible to move them on later down the line. We never learn.
That's what they were saying about January!!! Apparently January was when we were gonna make up for a bad summer window. What a load of shite. I've lost faith in PIF.
It’s plainly obvious and clear for anyone to figure out that the Guehi money was only going to be available if we offloaded Gordon to Liverpool. Thankfully we didn’t and I think Eddie Howe had a lot of influence in stopping that sale, subsequently the rumours of conflict with Mitchell etc arose. Can’t imagine what a monumental F up that would have been for this team?? I don’t think we will sign anyone of note this window, and why would the club put themselves in danger of a breach which makes no sense whatsoever. The summer will be different and I believe shackles will be off and we will make a big statement of intent. Watch this space. 👍🏻👍🏻
They’ll be waiting until summer when PSR cycle renews. See where we finish which will dictate if we can hold onto the likes of Bruno, Gordon and Isak. We will know if we have money from European football and extra tv revenue. Huge risk if we spend now with too many unknowns. Plus if we spend now and still miss out on European football we’d likely be forced to sell Bruno, Isak, Gordon or all 3! Consolidate now and work from a position of certainty in the summer. Huge signings in the summer I reckon though.
This. You can see with the players we were interested in the january before we got champions league vs the summer where we signed tino, tonali, barnes, minty, and hall (sort of). It was an insane window looking back. Where as we were linked with the likes of Ndaiye, tyler adams, kalvin phillips, emile smith rowe, Gallagher (i'd have taken him mind) etc. Just goes to show being patient tends to pay off as much as we would love a signing.
What tf does bringing in Trafford now do for us? Absolutely nothing! RW, Striker, RCB are far far more pressing issues that WILL make an impact. No reason to spend money on a position that will not impact us this season. Also If they are playing the game about PSR shackling us what that then does is make outgoings more difficult as clubs who are interested will make very low ball offers for players because they believe we are desperate to sell... It's a double edged sword...
We can’t blame Mitchell, he and his team do more than just buying players. They’re also looking for the wonder kids of the future, fixing the women’s football team, and ultimately his hands are tied without money due to PSR. Like mentioned, we would need to sell a star player and personally we can’t afford to lose Isak, Gordon, Bruno and any other of our star players. Everyone in the club wants us to do well.
having watched Khusanov highlights just watch how many penalties he concedes for man city - every tackle he goes to ground, in the premier the players are at a level to use that when pushing the ball past him.
3:14 slightly disagree; it was felt that if we had him in September they could redo the budget and grantee that we would get Europe and therefore paid for him.
I'd say we have to do what we are doing the amount we spent before our adidas Sela and nuno contracts were in place. Good thing is we haven't bought an Anthony so we are going to be looking good in the summer.. we have options on the right with J7 and Gordon should Murphs get injured
Really not sure why the Almiron deal is taking so long. Makes me think Miggy is being stubborn and demanding too much to leave. Only that it’s back to his old club - he’ll eventually go. But it’s taking so long to complete.
None of this makes sense…we’ve done almost nothing for 3 transfer windows. Either the Staveley era got their sums SERIOUSLY wrong or something doesn’t add up. Just posted record income and we’re back to Ashley levels of player investment.
There was no Guehi money we never sold enough players to cover it. We are crippled by PSR you only can buy what you sell and no one wants to buy the players we want to move and we dont want to sell the players other clubs want . So there we are with a wonderful conundrum !!
Question : If the toon were allowed to spend the money they HAVE - would it be good for the premier league and football in general? Probably not - watching certain clubs buy trophies is not really a sport Question: is it right that certain clubs awaiting the result of 115 charges of breaking the rules can go out and spend over £100 million in a January transfer window because their season might not now have a trophy coming at the end of it? Definitely not - PSR is designed to stop clubs from OVERSPENDING BEYOND THEIR MEANS, and certain clubs have got around this by constructive accounting. Question: Is it true that the day after the Toon takeover the so called big six gathered together to form a cartel, bully the premier league into ensuring that Newcastle would be hamstrung from ever breaching their glass ceiling? You betcha.
koygo from celtic is going for 10 million. i think he would be perfect for backup to isak and also play anywhere across the front. I think we should look at some like him
I thought this daft PSR worked on every 3 years losses?? It seems to be every June every year... I'm getting stressed with Mitchell at this point, surely he should've had deals just about ready in december?!
It’s pointless buying in January, we won’t buy for a position we don’t desperately need in January as that will just mess psr up even more and buying a player for a position we need requires a good player that clubs won’t let leave in January
I don't get it, if it was because of psr that we haven't been able to buy anyone then why would the club not just say that and we would all be instantly on side and know the reasons
I don't get it, how are we in the race for a player that we didn't put a bid in for? I'm tired of these headlines! The reality of our season is that the club spent poorly on some players after the takeover, and we're now facing it. Both agents and other clubs are using the club's name to orchestrate moves to other clubs, both driving up the asking prices and wages. We are not in for ANYONE until the summer at the very least. Signing Trafford would be a horrible idea, he's not where ppl and the media are placing him, he needs time to develop, and we have players that we need move on first and other areas of greater importance that needs addressing like another attacker out wide on the right. Honestly idk why we brought in Mitchell and Co.
Not one reporter or TH-camr point this out… what did they think would happen: Oh you over spent 40m on him, no worries we’ll just wipe that of your accounts and class it as a stadium upgrade 4:09
So if every time we buy a player we have to sell one of our top players how are we going to progress as a team. If we had bought guehi for £70 million and had to sell Bruno for say £100 million then we would have £30 million to replace Bruno. That's not going to get us a half decent player never mind a good one. It just doesn't make any sense.
you buy Trafford and loan him straight back to Burnley for the rest of the season, its not difficult. clearly there's more going on behind the scenes. all i keep hearing is long term project but yet if we cant spend in 2 windows how can we spend in the summer? All bollox all of it i don't trust anyone when they go on about knowing finances of clubs other than what is released by the club, the club clearly have an idea of what there doing, feels to me its all a stretch untill the Rules are changed next season
A reckon we do a forest and go out and spend money on Rodrygo for the RW spot, the few defenders and midfielders. Cause then whats, say a, £100 million fine gonna do. Then next season we go out and smash it
Another January transfer window with only Man City being able to afford players. Rules like PSR only work when they are fair to everyone. Rules were tightened only to spite PIF ownership. Man city only became rich by cheating for a decade. FFP is playing to Man City's dominance. Premier league has been ruined.
im looking at latest transfers at the moment and its a snooze fest. ffp means more even league and better for clubs longjevity, weyll even have a stronger england squad. i do miss the old transfer windows tho. buckets of amazing players coming to the prem, ah well
We won't spend a penny, the tickets will go through the roof next season and they think the fans will be happy with seventh and all we get from Howe is PSR on repeat disgrace.
@ ana mate that’s the risk but PSR is holding us back and it’s a joke Man U in billions of debt and we’ve got no debt but they can spend what they want and we can’t
90m 5 years 75m 3 years, sell now 30m -35m hits 2024/25 Accounts the today! So they can’t afford to sell their player any buy anyone, in fact they will have sell someone for 35m on top just to pass PSR
Not one reporter or TH-camr point this out… what did they think would happen: Oh you over spent 40m on him, no worries we’ll just wipe that of your accounts and class it as a stadium upgrade 4:09
As much as we all want to keep Isak 150m for him sorts us out of all this crap we are in these players will be well gone before we get to where we want to be
@ If we get a European spot next season. we'll have a spending limit of 70% of our revenue. Kieran Maguire estimates our revenue will be about 300M, so a spending limit of 210M. Our wage bill already eats up the vast majority of that, leaving precious little for new signings without selling players. I don't see that as any easier than what we face now, but I guess we'll see in time.
What your saying is matty is that we chased guehi for so long that we were prepared to sell one of our star players 😱 we sound less ambitious with each passing season. We sound like a joke
We are going backwards .blaming psr etc affects everyone ..howe doesnt have the arse to sell his favs.bruno is not a captain .burn is crap..we wont buy or sell anyone again ..in the summer isakhas to leave to win stuff and so does bruno.gordon ..arsenal will probably beat us.. if we get ANY i juries we will get nowhere near a europe place ..pif are scared to spend for a company of theyre size
The same story as every other transfer window for the past two years. The only difference this time is that they haven't spent the time chasing after one player that they were never going to sign anyway. I give up now.
Oh, and out of interest you ManU want sold of three of their crap players who they spent a fortune on but ‘can’t sell’ that miss a big detail; the three players we all know are past it, if they sell those players now, at a fee less than they paid; say someone who cost 90m with 5 year contracts. well on the books they have 75m with 3 years to go to spread it over; if they sell now for 30m 35m hits their account NOW! This year, and they can’t cover the 35m so would fail PSR & can’t access the money they do get for him. That make sense..?
Oooh lets be shit scared and follow the rules like frightened sheep.. fuck sake just spend on a CB, RW & ST and take the points deduction next season forest did and look where they are. Maybe the saudis are just a smokescreen and Mike Ashley still owns the club christ atm you can't tell the difference.
It's an absolute joke. What a disappointment the PIF ownership has been! We might as well still have Ashley. Window after window, nothing happens!!!! There are ways around PSR, but PIF are s*it scared to do anything the premier league won't like! 😡
@TheDefJamm “Might as well still have Ashley”?!??!? No fan under the Ashley area would suggest that. Or do you mean it feels like we are still there with these current handcuffs?
I absolutely belief that there is money to spend this transfer window - despite what journalists like Craig Hope want us to belief. Last summer Darren Eales said that now the £70m losses, from what was then Year1 for the PSR calculation, are no longer applicable we would not be hamstrung by PSR for the upcoming windows and the window would be "transformative" for the club. We bid for Olise, Guehi and a last minute panic bid for Elanga. We failed with all these attempts to get a transfer over of the line and then suddenly Howe and a selections of local journalists started claiming the reason the club failed to make a signing was down to PSR. If we have roughly £35m wiggle room before the June 2025 PSR deadline this gives us ample scope to bring new faces in e.g. a £50m signing on a 5 year contract would only add an addition £5 million in amortisations costs over the next 6 months. Certain local journalists should start reporting facts and stop being propagandists for the club. I understand the club wanting to project an image of PSR pressure to avoid the "Newcastle tax" but journalists reporting to fans should not be knowingly spread falsehoods to us just to curry favour with the club.

Man City 838m (commercial 407 broadcasting 343 matchday 88m)
Chelsea 546m(commercial 262 broadcasting 190 matchday 93m)
When we where taken over our commercial revenue was 33m euros that is how far we are behind
But yet we STILL don't spend!
Third window in a row. Good questions, Matty
The fees wanted for players are ridiculous. PSR will kill the transfer market. You can buy a player for £50m plus and he turns out crap
Big summer blowout is risky - we need to get into Europe first or we will have a no-show summer, an exodus of talent and likely Howe and Co, if we don't. It's never been more competitive for that Euro spot.
Bournemouth disaster highlighted how thin our squad is with Barnes injured. I'm mildly concerned.
i agree martyn
Been needing a major overhaul since the takeover, numerous transfer windows later and half the squad still made up of dead wood running down contracts
Thank you Matty, honestly it’s a headache trying to work out PSR, we still need to sell just to get a player in but we buggered ourselves under Ashley signing long term contracts and players that are now going to leave on a free.

you buy Trafford and loan him straight back to Burnley for the rest of the season, its not difficult. clearly there's more going on behind the scenes. all i keep hearing is long term project but yet if we cant spend in 2 windows how can we spend in the summer? All bollox all of it i don't trust anyone when they go on about knowing finances of clubs other than what is released by the club, the club clearly have an idea of what there doing, feels to me its all a stretch untill the Rules are changed next season
A reckon we do a forest and go out and spend money on Rodrygo for the RW spot, the few defenders and midfielders. Cause then whats, say a, £100 million fine gonna do. Then next season we go out and smash it
Don't understand why we can't have a loan
today is now.. They had only Miggy money to saudi then?
If we get CL and spend big in the summer I won’t mind not spending this month
Won’t get to CL if the squad collapses.
One or 2 injuries away from finishing 7th to 8th@@georgemorley1029
@ ana mate that’s the risk but PSR is holding us back and it’s a joke Man U in billions of debt and we’ve got no debt but they can spend what they want and we can’t
So sell one keeper on the bench. To buy another bench keeper. If I was Mitchell I’d walk.
Gonna be mad when we sign no one in the summer 😂
Rather keep our stars and sign no-one after all the years of the slug we should be used to no signings 😢
90m 5 years
75m 3 years, sell now 30m
-35m hits 2024/25 Accounts the today!
So they can’t afford to sell their player any buy anyone, in fact they will have sell someone for 35m on top just to pass PSR
Not one reporter or TH-camr point this out… what did they think would happen:
Oh you over spent 40m on him, no worries we’ll just wipe that of your accounts and class it as a stadium upgrade 4:09
As much as we all want to keep Isak 150m for him sorts us out of all this crap we are in these players will be well gone before we get to where we want to be
at least this is the last year of PSR
What replaces it is going to be just as restrictive.
@Robert.Sheard it's not though if you look into it .
I hate psr and ffp so much but hopefully we can spend in summer
Best channel matty mate
January window should be scrapped
Maybe that's why we didn't buy gehi then makes sense 🤔
What your saying is matty is that we chased guehi for so long that we were prepared to sell one of our star players 😱 we sound less ambitious with each passing season. We sound like a joke
No better toon channel cmon matty I think they are just waiting till summer, and get some huge signings can't wait!!!
Thank you mate appreciate it! Bring on the summer then eh!!
@@TheMagpieChannelTV you know it boyo!
Aye he’s the boy matty lad good sense of humour
We won’t get the big signings if we don’t finish in the champions league places
Isak will go as we have no ambition again
We are going backwards .blaming psr etc affects everyone ..howe doesnt have the arse to sell his favs.bruno is not a captain .burn is crap..we wont buy or sell anyone again ..in the summer isakhas to leave to win stuff and so does bruno.gordon ..arsenal will probably beat us.. if we get ANY i juries we will get nowhere near a europe place ..pif are scared to spend for a company of theyre size
Ad glad there's no ripple only us could starts with us Bryan BM and Cunha for isak mmm & £ change what would the hudds do
The same story as every other transfer window for the past two years. The only difference this time is that they haven't spent the time chasing after one player that they were never going to sign anyway. I give up now.
Oh, and out of interest you ManU want sold of three of their crap players who they spent a fortune on but ‘can’t sell’ that miss a big detail; the three players we all know are past it, if they sell those players now, at a fee less than they paid; say someone who cost
90m with 5 year contracts.
well on the books they have
75m with 3 years to go to spread it over; if they sell now for 30m
35m hits their account NOW! This year, and they can’t cover the 35m so would fail PSR & can’t access the money they do get for him.
That make sense..?
We don't get Europe, we won't keep all our big names anyway. So maybe no worries. Let's build some hotels and sell them.
The Guehi money goes missing and Matty gets a new house, just saying
We not getting anyone matty mate will be hard to get top 5
We've gone balc to the days of Mike Ashley lads. Forest still spending man city spending villa spending its all. Bs this psr
Wount last ten minutes never mind hour half.
That's not pounds £
We ain't finishing top 8 proper joke
If the toon continue to increase its revenue stream at the current 25% rate orur club will be generating £955m annually in six years 🤣🤣
This FFP currupt league is making it hard to love football these days
Why wasn't it said like that at the time or was it and i missed it and Matty the league is worse than a mafia.
I bet if this owner had man u be throwing .money left right and centre were selling all our 1st team players not right matty absolute joke mate
This league is so corrupt
howe is the problem
No, the dumb PSR rules that protects chelsea and city, is.
🙈
We will sell players and sign nay one .
It's an absolute joke. What a disappointment the PIF ownership has been! We might as well still have Ashley. Window after window, nothing happens!!!! There are ways around PSR, but PIF are s*it scared to do anything the premier league won't like! 😡
clueless
@TheDefJamm “Might as well still have Ashley”?!??!? No fan under the Ashley area would suggest that. Or do you mean it feels like we are still there with these current handcuffs?
Must be a new bandwagon supporter who doesn't understand the new psr rules
Ahahhahahaha. Bad take.
@thedefjamm you have no clue
