This was actually recorded in 1994 before their live 'Jaded in Chicago' set. The song hadn't even been recorded yet and they were trying this number out as a sound check.
Or maybe it's a sound check which it clearly is lol and nobody puts their full effort into singing while eq'ing everything from guitars and mics while they half ass sloppy play and sing. His tech is even behind him listening to the monitors to adjust them.
I think it's pretty cool that even with the success of Dookie still really new amd fresh, they were already writing new material. Plus, this song was a single. Goes to show how this band never really stops.
Dookie was recorded 15 months before before this gig (July-August '93) ...I would be seriously worried if Billie Joe hadn't written any new songs in that time!!!
hes a legend, cmon guys - rock legend. Greenday was my literal entry into rock and not nice music, and i loved every second of every song, they helped me get through my teenage years and push the rebel persona I have. Thank you Billy Joe, thank you Green Day, I love you.
"One of those bands". Sorry to be that guy, but can you list an artist that releases a song and then write them? I hope you can see what's wrong here, aye?
Jon, there are plenty of artists who release songs first and then write them, the most popular one is "Subtle Humor," they're from the youtube comments, and you've clearly never understood what they're all about.
@@TheJon430 Read the comments at the bottom, lots of people were amazed they were playing a song a year before it was released. I thought that warranted a sarcastic remark. Thankfully sarcastic remarks are one of my specialities
It's funny how at 0:57, Billie pronounces "pulse" weirdly, and at 1:01, it seems like Billie got the lyrics wrong; he wanted to sing: "A slow progression killing my complexion", but then he corrects himself to sing "treasure". Look up the lyrics and listen closely. :)
Fucking great song & one of their most powerful... you can tell it's a soundcheck or whatever cause they are just going through the motions here & it shows
Haha I’ll never understand the stupidity of the human race. How one cannot tell by the adjustment of the sound output as being a “sound check” blows my mind. Yes, it’s a sound check for jaded in Chicago. No, it was not recorded yet. Phenomenal capture
Hey can I get more 5k on the stage left monitor?.....ok a little less 5k....ok more 5k.....ok can we just get nothing but bass on all monitors, no 5k...ok sounds great...thanks....
Yes, most bands write the songs (which means they can play them too), before they release the album :) They actually played this song for an audience on SNL in 1994 too.
Marek Gaming well this song was written in 1994. Just because a song came out on a album in a certain year doesn’t mean it was written that year. Good riddance was written 7 years before it was released in 1997
this is a soundcheck from Jaded in Chicago because the song was already made. you can tell its 1994 because of the "FUCK METAL" decal on his guitar, which was on there for a brief time in 1994.
the crowds really getting into it
Bab's Uvula Who? It was a sound check. The song hadn't even been recorded yet
SpamBeedop It's called a joke, bruh.
Gabriella Garber I Know was adding on to it
SpamBeedop no you weren't .
SpamBeedop nah the joke went over your head
This was actually recorded in 1994 before their live 'Jaded in Chicago' set. The song hadn't even been recorded yet and they were trying this number out as a sound check.
So... He was on meth here I would assume?
+RobotGangster Hi we meet again xD
Warachara Upapong Lol, you caught me on a Hole music video and a Green Day sound check.
They had already done it on SNL by this point, I think.
+Christian the SNL performance of this was around 15 days later.
Bands, never say "heres a new song", your crowd will run away!
Wdym? They wouldn't like it?
@@MattRTGB it was a joke about how there isn’t a crowd here lol
@@aidanclark9616 oh ahahha
tough crowd
Wade Best 😂😂😂
Luke Francis WELLIK that’s the joke
See that a crowd without fucking cellphones, this crowd is awesome.
This was a soundcheck tho 😂 but ye they had camcorder
The reason his vocals here seem weak, is because he's saving them for the audience, either that or the drugs haven't kicked in yet.
Blue Glass Productions both
Both. Both is good
Or maybe it's a sound check which it clearly is lol and nobody puts their full effort into singing while eq'ing everything from guitars and mics while they half ass sloppy play and sing. His tech is even behind him listening to the monitors to adjust them.

@@glen366 oh, thanks. Also did you watch the full show asap? I did, it's one of my favorite
So this looks like it was done right before everybody showed up to their chicago show in 94. Pretty cool. The quality is insanely good visually.
The ending was perfection.
Smoking meth before work while I listen to this. 94/95 insomniac eta GD forever!
Insomniac era will always be their peak imo

bro, if u really want to thank green day, atleast write Billie Joes name right.
The quality is amazing
Rockin that Ramones shirt
Could have put the word "Soundcheck" in the title, would have made it less weird to see them playing to nobody
One could see it's a sound check
What about the creepy mf walking behind them? What the hell is his job and what is he doing?
Nobody was there because of the lock down due to Covid 94.
@kevvcop like ye
Watching this makes me wonder whether he took speed right after the soundcheck, or if simply the speed hadn't kicked in yet
Jon Most likely coke
He was saving his energy he is still high
He took it after
@@BarrySmoother no it was meth, this song is literally about meth
@@nyx8520 this has nothing to do with them taking meth at this show but yes they did meth and the song is about meth
Still better crowd than Iheart Radio 2012
I was 15. Loved him desperately. Still kinda do.
Saw them this tour ....great fun
They should come back to this place for a gig again
They recently did.
thry did the day before you posted that comment.
Their coming back to Chicago. They're gonna preform in Wrigley field, though there sin't a set date yet.
Its hard to believe that person (billie joe) is the same guy compare to his version nowadays.
Shows after COVID 19
LMAOO
My fav green day song 🎵
Somewhere between this soundcheck and the show, they got fucking WIRED
It’s because of the speed they took
I think this is the first time I've seen them not that high...
PHILADELPHIA USA❤
After this song they went in the back, did speed, and performed jaded in chicago.
I guess Green Day must be one of those bands that write songs before they release them
"One of those bands". Sorry to be that guy, but can you list an artist that releases a song and then write them? I hope you can see what's wrong here, aye?
Revenor, try The Shaggs.

his sulse is beating out of time
a slow protreasure is killing his complexion
His tone sounds off here but I guess that's why we have soundchecks
Wdym? In the actual show it is more bassless and more gainy and trebly
Fucking great song & one of their most powerful... you can tell it's a soundcheck or whatever cause they are just going through the motions here & it shows
now thats a collector's item :) sober green day xD
I wish they would play this one more often and also babs ovula who has never been played live. My favourite song :(
2:05 see guys, there is a crowd
stage diver at 1:05
Capossssss
wow totally unseen
So good.
Cant believe they didnt go for this sound setting during the live, that same night...
cool soundcheck brah
Never seen this till now . Soo Good . Fucken love Green day.
Still better than the iheart radio crowds
Obviously before the boys got amped up on some performance enhancers back stage before the real show 😂 love it.
damn they were in the early 20 here, they actually look even younger.
Meth addiction couldn't sound more appealing
Love this song! 🤓
Bro doesn't knows
Never expect to play a big filled stadium if you aren't able to play for absolutely nobody.
There’s a boy in my high school who looks just like Billie in this video, SAME DAMN OUTFIT!
It's kind of wierd seeing young Billie Joe not high on stage
Yup!!
He is tho..just not as much
Yeah, but he must've done more speed than you can imagine right after this, because he's geeked hard for the actual concert they're soundchecking for.
Funny fact:billie is wearing a Ramones shirt
1:03, that guy needs to learn to respect people's personal space.
Haha I laughed my ass off

Why is the quality higher than them
Wonder why he didn't keep the Ramones tee on for the concert.

They had already wrote it and we're using it as a soundcheck.

The guy walking behind them is making me feel very uncomfortable. What the fuck is he doing?

If your band feels bad for playing a small crowd, Green Day played to nobody
Or you could just call it soundcheck.
