Idk man it’s honestly all because Green Day signed to a major record label back during the Dookie days. People considered them punk up until they went from lookout records (small label) to reprise records (major label). So when they went to a major record label, people started calling them sell outs and not punk anymore.. Idk it all doesn’t make much sense to me.
@@NovacaineRebelxx you're right man, punk rock bands don't sign to major label's. They're looked at as sellouts if they do, but hey you gotta make a living somehow and how the hell are they meant to make and release music if they're broke? so I idk man I never really understood the whole sellout thing. @@NovacaineRebelxx The Sex Pistols were signed to a major label, and they practically invented the genre (or at least brought it to world-wide attention), yet no one calls them sell outs. Really doesn't make sense to say Green Day sold out by signing to a major label. Plus Lookout was really struggling to shift enough copies of Keplunk and keep up with demand for the record. Green Day had no choice ultimately.
As someone who remembers the original airing in '94, this is incredible to see. Everything from the pre-show mosh, and the raw banter in between songs, I never knew how much extra footage existed.
This isn't even all of it! This is just the live concert reel. They had short interviews with people about what they thought of the show, footage from outside the venue, a lot of which you see clips of during the opening and credits of the final broadcast.

@@asthenasia Sorry to inform you: soundcheck is not part of a concert, technically speaking (or of any concert, for that matter... and yes, I'm aware that there's video available of the sound check, but it's correct to be separate from this). He (probably) said "full concert" because this one is way more complete than the one MTV released in '94: it has a couple more songs (Knowledge and Disappearing Boy), also like, "Paper Lanterns" is not cut-out (also, no Spin mag being burn) and it doesn't have any bleeping over all of Billie Joe's cursing, so there ya go.
Back in my teenage years (Im 33 now) I was a huge Green Day fan, - I had and unofficial live CD from this concert, my friend found in a small CDstore in Copenhagen, he bought it to me. The CD only had the MTV 45 min in it, back then I wished they had kept all the talking between songs, because I knew it was there - its funny to see and hear it so many years after. And surprising to see they played Knowledge and Disappearing Boy!
I'm so stoked that I came across this video. I recorded this off MTV on a VHS tape (for you younger folks there are these devices called VCR's and you could put a blank tape the size of a shoe inside and record things off TV-LMAO) when I was like 16 years old and watched it so many times that it got to the point to where the tape was so blurry you couldn't watch it anymore. I'm not exaggerating when I say I bet you I have seen this entire concert at least a hundred times. If you're a Green Day fan and haven't seen this immediately drop everything and watch it, this is classic Green Day at its best. I'm not saying I don't like their new stuff because I do but if you're looking for "Wake Me Up When September Ends' you're going to be disappointed this is 39 Smooth/Kerplunk/ Dookie day's, AKA the soundtrack to my childhood!
I had no sleep last night was up at 5am cycled ten miles into work for a 12 hour shift, eyes likes dogs balls crossing over seeing double, I hit play on this and I'm recharged and full of energy. GODLIKE PERFORMANCE!
Same!!! this Version is 1,000 than the Kerplunk version or any other live performance!!! They literally Activated Beast mode!!! All 3 of killed it both individually and collectively, this concert wouldn’t have been the same without drugs!!!
Me too. My sister would always make us fast forward thru it to get to She. 10 years later I had heard it for the first time and I'm still mad at her for depriving me.
I was 6 when my brother had the video cassette of this and I recall so vividly Billie's erratic Big wheel rant. My brother has since passed and it's really nostalgic to watch this again. Thank you very much for sharing this. I've looked for a long time for that skit and tada. You're appreciated 💙
God bless you Mr. Bergqvist you're one of the few heroes left on earth for providing all of us with this fab version of the best Green Day concert ever recorded. You're a fucking legend for this!
I watched 20 times the "chicago 1994 full concert" but it's the first time i'm watching the "chicago 1994 full full concert". And now I'm understanding why MTV eliminated some parts of it lol
It's so refreshing seeing them back then trying to make a name for their selves as opposed to more recent, knowing and acting like they are the top dogs of the rock world.
Oh my god, just wow.. thanks so much for uploading!! 👌🙏 I must have watched this a million times back then! The version of When I Come Around is very similar to Woodstock 94 as well, because the beginning has Billie playing guitar solo without Mike or Trè tagging in until later.
Never heard of Green Day prior to seeing this in 94 on TV. Turned Rage on right at the start of the concert, was addicted instantly and ran out the next morning to buy Dookie. Don’t think any band or concert has had that sort of impact on me straight away.
I honestly don't remember the Operation IVY cover, but it's been so long. Middle school me taped this one night and it has since become the thing of garbage can linings...thanks for uploading the full, no tracking needed, awesomeness!
God, I loved this as a kid. Still do. I remember watching this on my bed and being amazed. They influenced so much of my style along with the Beastie Boys. I even did that head twitch that Billie does. nuts
I remember that in MTV Argentina they played this concert on a saturday night in 95 and i had a Party, set the VCR and when i came back luckily the timing was correct grab the whole show, went crazy for that tape, great show from the first to the last song..
It came to me when I was 15 years old. It was like a bomb. It was the front door to many other bands I knew later. Still love this show after 25 years.
In 1994 I was on the fence about Green Day. Too pop for punk and too punk for pop. This gig really cemented my opinion that they're just a great, tight rock band with catchy songs.
Bro I really wish I grew up in the 90's to see these guys I want to be in a band like them and even though he's cracked out his boldness and fearlessness makes me think my anxiety can be overcome
I was 3 years old at the time but if I could go back in time to any concert it would probably be this one. Everyone in that building was having so much fun
This is amazing. I've only ever seen the MTV aired version. I remember my buddy and I going down to the Aragon that night without tickets and getting a pair off of a scalper for something like $25 each. I'm scouring the crowd for us both, but somehow we just blend in too much amongst all the other flannels and middle hair parts lol.
Saw them in Atlanta back then at Lakewood Ampitheater during the Dookie tour. A couple of memories are Billy Jo on stage naked with only his guitar covering him and him running up the lawn hi-five’ing everyone. Great show….

the ending of paper lanterns is SO GOOOOOOOD
Hell yeah
And you want a solution
You know the concert will be worth witnessing as you see the crowd slamming and crowd-surfing before the show starts👌🏻
33:13 BJ prepares for she!
You’re right 😂
This is truly full concert. Thanks
sadly missing the sound check :( not full concert
I just reached 33. I am a big Green Day fan too. :)
I recorded this on vhs from mtv and watched it EVERY morning before school.
Man, memories. Thanks, green day.
I kown what a VCR I may be young but I am not stupid
I had no sleep last night was up at 5am cycled ten miles into work for a 12 hour shift, eyes likes dogs balls crossing over seeing double, I hit play on this and I'm recharged and full of energy. GODLIKE PERFORMANCE!
hope youre good
Dam i wonder how Mike Dirnt spine is doing being the backbone of this band for 35 years
Eh that’s fair but Tre is also huge for them.
One of the best concerts live. Hands down.
The energy of the 90's concert remains unmatched.🤘
Christie Road is one of my favorite Green Day songs
Same!!! this Version is 1,000 than the Kerplunk version or any other live performance!!!
I was at this show! Amazing performance.
I was 6 when my brother had the video cassette of this and I recall so vividly Billie's erratic Big wheel rant.
My brother has since passed and it's really nostalgic to watch this again. Thank you very much for sharing this. I've looked for a long time for that skit and tada.
You're appreciated 💙
what did he pass to?
I still have this on VHS tape, recorded from the original airing on MTV. I saw them in Oakland, CA in 1995, and it was EPIC! Ah, to be young again!
I love how the crowd was chanting a beastie boys song at the beginning. Doesn’t get more 90s than that.
Its amazing lol
Holy shit.... I cannot believe how edited this was for the me for the last 30 YEARS! This is mindblowing!
When he dedicated chump to that one guy he rlly meant it omg, starig DAGGERS the whole song 😭
So cool to see the uncut version! Did'nt realize I've been seeing an edited AF version untill now, I've been fooled! :P Thanks a lot!! :D
Kurt cobain would’ve been so proud seeing punk get this far
I have a clear memory of making my dad stay up to tape the MTV special of this show. Seeing the full thing is amazing!
WTF I DON'T EVEN SAW THE FULL CONCERT, GREETINGS FROM ARGENTINA DUDE
la p*ta madre todo lo que habia cortado
it is just amazing to watch how ppl used to interact with each others when no cell phones were found
This was one of the best concerts I ever saw. If I could relieve one day this would be right up at the top.
When Green Day was Green Day... I don't recognize them anymore. But I remember this concert, had it on VHS and watched it dozens of times.
This never gets old, now I'm 59
Thanks for this video
It's so refreshing seeing them back then trying to make a name for their selves as opposed to more recent, knowing and acting like they are the top dogs of the rock world.
who remembers these good days also i have watched this video so many times
I need this in 4k immediately
I think this is probably the best quality you're gonna get... 🤣 No such thing as 4k in 1994... not even HD
Oh my god, just wow.. thanks so much for uploading!! 👌🙏 I must have watched this a million times back then!
I even remember taping it to vcr from Dutch television somewhere in the winter of '96 after its first broadcast was cancelled (probably because of some soccer match). I always knew some songs were missing. So glad to finally see the original show!! 💚🤘💚
Absolutely love Green Day🤘
36 years old now I remember watching this on mtv in 94 god damm it was awesome then and now after 98 Green Day went soft still love everything in 90s
Green Day forever. Best moment concert old days. Thanks for upload

Was 14 at the time and wanted to be there SO FUCKIN BAD. No airports in the swamps of eastern NC, and no money for airfare either. All I could do was watch in amazement.
Born in 80. This band made me love music
SAME! They also made my son love music years later!
Same here. Born in 82...
Born in 2007 ;-; kinda late and not in America that's hurts
Bien in 2009 🫤 wish i was born earlier so i could experience this stuff 😢
Omg!! Full concert! Thank you so much!! :D
Oh man this'll never get old
55:20 this version of paper laterns is like a combination of the 94 woodstock version (because it has were nor gonna take it 1:00:08) and the 1995 performances they would do later on, and to me i love it ^_^ .CANT BELIEVE MTV CUTTED AWAY THE BEST PARTS AND SONGS SPECIALLY PAPER LANTERNS! >:(
The version of When I Come Around is very similar to Woodstock 94 as well, because the beginning has Billie playing guitar solo without Mike or Trè tagging in until later.
@@NovacaineRebelxx ooooh
Like it or not, this is the music that shaped a whole fucking generation...
damn they mastered the art of the live show live there!
If I could go back in time this is where I would go
When Green Day and we are greats.
Finally! there is a full clip of this concert!!
The years passes away Green Day still sound so fucking great 🤙🤙🤙🤟🤟🤟
Crazy this is 30 years ago 😮
It's good to see no cell phones in the entire venue.
Never heard of Green Day prior to seeing this in 94 on TV. Turned Rage on right at the start of the concert, was addicted instantly and ran out the next morning to buy Dookie. Don’t think any band or concert has had that sort of impact on me straight away.
40:40 love that absolute unhinged and slightly confused look he puts on sometimes. Billie Joe is so cute
billie: makes the crowd say insults
also billie: look at your mouths, you talk to your parents with that mouth?
I honestly don't remember the Operation IVY cover, but it's been so long. Middle school me taped this one night and it has since become the thing of garbage can linings...thanks for uploading the full, no tracking needed, awesomeness!
Tks dude! Since Brazil.
É nóis! 🤘😎
Tmj
God, I loved this as a kid. Still do. I remember watching this on my bed and being amazed. They influenced so much of my style along with the Beastie Boys. I even did that head twitch that Billie does. nuts
18:16
Aliens??
Yes, what about it?
this gotta be one of the rare moments where Tre seemed the most normal out of the three of them
i don't know who you are but thanks for this, the quality on this and on top of that uncensored? you're the man
My favourit concert🔥
13:33 Preach Billie! This is why I love Green Day
MY BEST YEAR❤❤❤❤ MISS THIS TIME
I remember that in MTV Argentina they played this concert on a saturday night in 95 and i had a Party, set the VCR and when i came back luckily the timing was correct grab the whole show, went crazy for that tape, great show from the first to the last song..
It came to me when I was 15 years old. It was like a bomb. It was the front door to many other bands I knew later. Still love this show after 25 years.
Same. This concert made me start my first band..it was the most dope ass thing I had seen at the time in rock n roll
best live show ever done hands down
In 1994 I was on the fence about Green Day.
He's not "Cracked" out. He's "Cranked" out.
@@Chucktones1408 right, right ha ha ha
I could watch this every day
Holy shit. How did you get an uncut version of this !!!!? I have never seen certain parts of this. Thanks !!!
I saw them a couple months before this show. It was probably the best show I’ve ever been to. I wish there was video of it.
Ah here it is :D
