    I ate there several years ago shortly after getting out of the Army. Ate there 3 times in 2 days. Wings were absolutely delicious and the beer selection was fantastic. I'll definitely visit when I get a chance. So worth the drive!

    A Buffalo tradition and landmark for sure. The wings are phenomenal. You CAN find fantastic wings in many local places in Buffalo, however, including the small bars and taverns.

    For locals, Anchor Bar is an overpriced tourist trap. The wings are decent, but you can get that level at nearly every pizza place.
    For the best wings, go to Bar Bill in East Aurora(Buffalo Suburb) or Nine Eleven Tavern in South Buffalo.
    A lot of people love Duffs too, though I'm not a fan.

      I've been to all of these places, including Bar Bill. I've got to tell you, that Buffalo makes crappy wings. They are crispy and crunchy and fried...... didn't taste good at all. I like wings that are soft and chewy and the meat falls off the bone.

    I flew from England, UK to Buffalo N.Y around 15 years ago.
    In search of Property deals.
    To this day I crave a representative experience of that afternoon when I, 2 friends my friends John and Stewart Hale visited in search of property.
    During our search of property to make us wealthy, we found another JEWEL.. The Anchor Bar.
    It is a MECCA. Guaranteed. Unfathomable.
    Go there as a MUST TO DO life Experience.

    Have lived in Buffalo for almost 52 years. They invented the chicken wing but in Buffalo they are not even close to being the best. To be honest most Buffalonians do not like their wings. The best places are the corner pubs and bars. Not places like this or pizzerias though you can find a few good ones at certain pizzerias but not often.

How about Boston chowder? Kansas City ribs? I mean, I'm just working off the top of my head here. I could probably find more if I googled them.

    Ivano Toscani claims that Teresa Belisimo invented blue cheese dressing back in the mid 60s (I think he said 1964). Hmmm, turns out that blue cheese dressing was documented at the Edgewater Hotel Salad Book back in 1928 (known as Roqefort dressing), and an earlier version was found in the Fannie Farmer's cookbook back in 1918. So how could Teresa invent blue cheese dressing 50 years after it first appeared in print, let alone the first time it was invented and served? Sounds like a false claim to attract more patrons, to me.

    The math counting how many wings served per year makes absolutely no sense, are you kidding me? What an absolute idiot. One ton of wings per day works out, on the high end, to approx. 22,000 wings. Multiple that by 365 and you get 8,030,000 per year...how does even come close to 5 billion...?

    • @MrRaja
      @MrRaja 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Richard Denoia the anchor bar sells that much

    • @jamieritter10
      @jamieritter10 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No it doesn't. Richard's math check's out, even with 'little' wings you're lucky to get more than a dozen cut per pound before frying...You could safely say this place is pushing 20,000 to 25,000 wings into people's mouth's per day. In the video he claims they sell...13 to 14 million a day. Again...no they don't.
      Love the intense guy about having '50 wings so far today, and I'm not done', too...He's had 7,000+ calories, about 6 days worth of salt, and is acting like he's going to crush another couple dozen. Video is a mess; haven't been there, but something like this reinforces the stigma i've heard over and over about it being the Pat's/Geno's of Buffalo, and I don't live that far away.

    • @buffalobrando1288

      Jamie Ritter 25,000 a day?! I've been in the biz not a chance.. a 40lb box runs $100 dollars at the moment you get roughly 260 wings a case do the math because I'm writing this can't use me calculator the cost would be astronomical I'm also from south buffalo and nobody is putting out 25g a day please prove me wrong

    • @buffalobrando1288
      @buffalobrando1288 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sry James my comment wasn't meant for u only just a general honest observation

    • @jamieritter10
      @jamieritter10 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      260 wings out of 40lbs means they'd be very big,
      My first job was at a sports bar in my local town a few hundred miles south of Buffalo... that had several nights a year of going through over 20 80 lb cases of cut fresh wings without tips. These were vacuum sealed, also, that weight included very little extra 'juice', but the wings weren't overly large, merely acceptable. The record while I worked there was 25 cases around 2000 or 2001, working out to be roughly a ton of wings but on those specific nights (the big one being a town wide festival thing in early October, as well as the wednesday night before Thanksgiving) it was guaranteed to be over 20. I don't remember the exact wing order count, only used google to find roughly how many cut wings are in a pound (worked out to be 8 to 14 depending on size of the wing)...so, on those nights, a rough estimate is around 20,000 wings as we didn't have access to huge wings...at 12 per pound considering the size and lack of extra crap in 4 20lb bags per case.
      That's not a nationally known tourist location, but it was well known to a fairly large area for great wings. Typical friday and saturday evenings would sell about 8 to 10 cases, and about 12 cases wednesday nights during their wing special. I do not think the Anchor Bar sells 20,000+ every single day...but it's not impossible to do it more often than a place in central PA.
      Also worth nothing; the popularity of this place was the highest in the mid to late 90's, which was still when wings were almost given away. The 80lb cases were normally under $50 at the time, and on 'wing night' they were selling a dozen for $3, and 2 dozen for $4.50 through a deal with the chicken suppliers. I'm not making this up, people would wait 3 hours for a table back then.
      Sorry for the length, just saying, it's 'possible' for that amount of wing sales.
