The secret of reinstallation is on the bottom of the door hinge. There is a slot that MUST be completely in and down before the lock can be pushed into the up position. When you insert the hinge-piece into the stove-front, wiggle while pushing in and down on the hinge. Keep doing it until the hinge is seated into that slot. Then, open the door completely and position the hinge-lock up and into the stove frame.

Once I had the door on, I couldn't get the locks back down even with a screwdriver. The trick was to push the door just slightly more open (down) and then try pushing on the locks. I thought I had the door open all the way, but it needed to be opened just an inch more, and then the locks went down.

Yes do it exactly the way he teaches you. I tried several times since the summer to take door off but couldn't. Today I was able to get the door easypeasy and clean the oven and couldn't get the door back on. After trying several times I was about to through in the towel. Wait until tomorrow to call maintenance. But decided to research a video and after watching video. It literally it took me less then a minute to put door back on. I have a four year old basic black GE stove with electric burners that they put in apartments (it was brand new when I moved in). The hinges on mine are the same as yours. I went to my oven and gave this a try and I was able to lift the door off just enough to see that this will work. I was just testing this for tomorrow when I plan to wipe the last traces of Easy Off out of the interior. Having the door out of the way will make that job much easier! Did most of that job forgetting that the door could be removed. I knew I could find a TH-cam video telling how to do it. It took a little searching to find a video where the door hinges were the same as mine. I got a little nervous like other posters when I thought I was having trouble getting the just slightly disengaged door back into place, but I did it. Thank your for your easy to understand tutorial!

I didn't have to watch quite that many, thank goodness. I watched a couple of videos and then looked at the hinges on mine, and they were different from the first couple of videos. I kept checking for one where the hinges matched mine. Your stove may look completely different from the one in the video, but as long as the hinges match, that's what counts.
Thanks for this video as I had trouble unlocking this hinge. I took off the door to do this. My best recommendation is to make sure the door is properly set in the oven. I flexed the door down to be parallel to the ground while attached to the oven. This seem to reset the hinge and when I repositioned the door at a 45 degree angle, the hinge was able to be unlocked pretty easily.

Thank you so much. This was helpful beyond belief. Somehow popped one hinge out while they were both still locked. It was a trial and a half to manhandle into the unlocked position by hand once we finally got the other hinge detached.
And a year later you are still saving those of us who managed to get a hinge loose and had no idea how to operate the lock to get it to stay back in there!

Yes they are . I just took 2 butter knives and pushed down on each side of lock and it unlocked . Pushing on one side did not unlock it . But both sides worked great . But u are correct . Easy to pull up and lock , but they are stubborn to unlock . I could not push it back with my fingers I have this exact same hinge .
@@AnnieBhatnagar It was kind of hard to do very hard to see get a picture of each hinge with your phone and then just zoom in and study it to know what you’re looking at and then when you go back to try to redo it you may have a better idea of what you were looking at that’s what I did that help me out
Great tutorial. My only problem was the replacement unit had the plastic film on the interior and I had to disassemble the frame to remove the film. Just a minor inconvenience but time consuming.

HEELLLPP! I came across your video when I was trying to find on how to for oven doors. So, my situation is as I was cleaning my oven on the right side I touch the lock and now only the right side it out. I am trying to put it back on but the lock latch doesn't move down? Do I need to have the Whole door off in order for the door to go back on and locks to unlock?
For future people. Yes. Unlock the other side, take the door off and follow these instructions. That 45 degree angle is critical to getting the oven door back in. Make sure you're hanging onto it tightly. You'll feel when it snaps back into the proper place. I struggled to get one side in and other was easily sliding in. Had to breathe, pray, and then try again. Finally got the door back on 🙌🏾
I NEED TO SAVE MY MERRAIGE!. I accidentally lifted the little lock piece and hook popped out! How do I pop it back. Giant hook is sticking out now. I it's hook that suppose to be inside cavity of oven. Please help
@@genarocarrera1586 ok I finally popped back in! You will need to take apart your door first of all. Sucks! Make sure to save all screws. Remember selling screws behind handle come with spacers. DO NOT LOSE THOSE.. You will need to remove both hinges. You will need c-lamps and vice grip pliers or strong handle pliers. Set hinge on sturdy table and clamp down with c-lamp. Push back as hard as you can until curve reaches open slit. Have your happy wife help you push lock on while you are pushing back. Once you do both then your done. Put it all back together. I took the door back to neighborhood appliance store and could not fix! But that worked for me!!! Hope my explanation was clear hehehe.
Not sure if you will see this, but I have this exact same hinge except while the door was off I'm not sure what happened but when I was going to put it back on, I noticed a big hook on one side. After looking at it and trying to get it back in I realized it wasn't like this originally and it seems that the hook was originally within the piece that hooks in and the hook came out and I can't even get it to move. Has this ever happened to you before? I wish I could add a photo.
Same thing happened to us. I've tried to fix it numerous times but it won't fully close. Did you manage to correct it? Those hinges have a lot of pressure making it very difficult.
no one seems to impasize that you must put the door into the spot and let it rest there.. after it's resting PUSH DOWN on the door where the handel is you use to open the door then in most cases the locking sliders will fall into place not needing to push them what so ever with a screw driver.. :)

Well I only found this after figuring it would be easy to do without research. And now one side is unlocked with a high tension metal... Uh.. Hook (for lack of a better term) that I can't get back in place, so one of my hinges on the door appears to be broken. As I don't see a way to get it back to it's prior and proper layout.

I had the same problem. It ends up my hinges weren't seated properly. Once corrected, the locks disengaged easy.

Fixed what my dad fucked up in 15 minutes thanks to this. Dont let those clips unlock while the door is off people!!! Its a pain to get it back on
