Thank you for giving us your expertise in deer fur. I had no clue it was done this way. Chuck many artist on UTUBE don’t tell us how to do certain things to help us achieve beauty realism. Thank you again. 🎨❤️
This is honestly the best painting tutorial I've watched so far! Great way of explaining and actually showing how to do it rather than just a time lapse definitely applying these techniques to my paintings!☺️
It is quite beautifull to watch your process that inviter to "loose time" and "disappear" into the joy of beauty. It reminds me of a state of mind that was totally natural when I painted as a child. Filled with awe and joy. Thank you for sharing
Before I saw deer in person I just thought they were just simply brown. Now I live in a place that I see deer a lot and have seen up close the grey, gold, brown, red, black and whites of the individual hairs. The variety in color helps them blend in to just about any background when they freeze, it is almost magical. I have often wondered how to paint this kind of fur. Thanks for sharing.
Wow you have so much patience it must take you hours to just do one animal. I would never be able to do a painting like that. You are the best artist I have ever seen. Sheila.
This is the first time I have watched a couple of your videos, I watched the grasses one for this painting also. I appreciate that you explain not just how, but why you apply certain paints, use specific brushes, and various techniques to achieve what you want. You are an excellent teacher, and your painting are lovely and engaging. Thank you.
I know this is an older video but I just got back into painting...it's been a good 30 years since I picked up a brush...I was never particularly great at it, but I enjoyed it...I have been working on a white tailed buck for several weeks now...has not looked right or finished....I tried this technique and it is transforming my painting....a ton of work but so worth it...thank you for taking the time to make this video...super helpful! Beautiful work!
@@firesfirestorm6374 Yes another Extraordinary Artist! Yet I would say the only difference between these two Artists is the choice of topic and the scale from which each chooses to work. Otherwise both Impressive Artists! 🔆👌👌👌
Oh, Chuck, you've done it again! I'm back to working in acrylics. I have the beginning of a winter scene and I've been looking for a buck to add. After watching dozens of tutorials I've chosen this one to try. You are such an inspiration and, although I'll never be as advanced as you, you make me want to work at it. I wish I could support you financially - maybe at some point - but in the meantime, I am so grateful for all you offer to we wanna be artists! Thanks so much.
Oh ok I read some replies, I get what you done here. I knew if this technique but hadn't seen ones actually using it, so it's nice to see. I blend alot more and use a larger brush for sky, as not enough patience at times. Swirl motion and tapering edges as well. Then let dry for oil in to the detail. I can't seem to stop once the artistic flow urge takes over, so that lends to the larger brush or medium size as easier to cover area.
Thank you for teaching us this technique, your paintings are mesmerising. It Indeed is a work of talent & patience. I am a novice still learning, pray I come up these standards 🙏, You are indeed God gifted, thank you once again thank you.
Whoa! That looks great. I was going crazy trying to find a quick trick for creating that pixelation, but I guess you just have to put in the work. Congratulations and thanks a million!
I was painting a deer years ago in almost the same way, but not because I knew it was the right way to do it but because I just couldn't think of any other, better way to do it. Now I see that even masters like Chuck Black do it like this and that makes me proud. :D By the way, for all the lazy people out there, try several brushes. I used an old brush that gave me 4 or 5 regular dots in one stroke. It still takes a lot of patience and effort, but you do save time by not painting every single dot individually.
Thank you so much for such amazing tutorial. You are a life savior! I’m painting my wife’s beloved dog and wanted this realistic look but couldn’t figure out how to do the fur. You saved me. New subscriber!
Absolutely incredible! Thank you so much. The time and patience that must take is insane! I really want to try and do a realistic animal painting but I don't know if I have the patience 🤦♀️
Every video I watch of yours, I just think, “IN-SANE!!”. You really do portray some of the very best of God’s beautiful creation. Side note: I do way too much binge-watching of your videos.
Amazing to watch you work , thank you for your knowledge and time to explain what you do and the amount of time you have to put in to get your finished painting . Thank you .
So descriptive Chuck! I've just found you on the Web and am Stuck no your artwork. Gonna check your complete youtube tutorials. I have decided to paint landscapes and natural scenes so am so excited to get to learn from your material. Thanks again. See ya!
You know that your deer is ready for the snow to fly. Never fear, his coat of fur is so thick that he will withstand the worst weather ever. You have a very good system here with the pixels. Well presented.
Thank You!!! You are the most incredible Artist!! You're such a great teacher, and you've helped me so much! Your videos are always so well done, and the music is always beautiful and chill and you're fun to watch! Keep it up! I look forward to your videos!
hi Chuck ; how to paint fur ; the fur looks so real incredible artwork it`s more than beautiful very very well done , and i thank you very much to be there for us ; i am one of your french fan from Québec, Canada
This is lovely, thank u for sharing this I love what u said about pixelations and really makes me understand how to creat the allusion of fur. Keep u the good work😉
Beautiful! That's how I would do fur as well. It is very tedious and time consuming, but so worth it. I love your paintings! Thanks so much for sharing with us.
Tha k you for sharing and actually showing us how to do it...other ppl calling calling tutorial but they just speed through and not actually teach anything
Thank you so much, Chuck. It would seem that step one for painting realism or hyperrealism is to cultivate the patience of Job! :D Such a beautiful painting. :D
Amazing. I have just started painting and after seeing this i feel like quitting. How the hell will i manage anything like this. I feel like a super skinny guy, first day in the gym looking at a huge body builder.
Chuck, I found this tutorial so helpful! You are by far a great master of wild life. Loved the photos you took and how you were able to select a great one for the painting. This is an awesome work of art. I truly appreciate your time, determination and passion for art. It is lovely! Congratulations! Blessings and take care.
. So incredibly beautiful. Thank you. I am going to give it a go, which is crazy as I have never painted an animal in my life. However, your video is really helpful and has given me the courage to give it a go.... 😂😜
Chuck, absolutely amazing paint work . Thank you for sharing your craft with us. My question is, I have not seen or heard of anyone mixing layers of acrylic with layers of oil paint. Can you explain why you use this method? What are the differences / challenges/ advantages to using acrylic and oil layers. I do realise this is the epitome of the “ fat over lean” theory, but why not just use oil paint.... maybe you could direct me to one of you other you tube viewings . Thanks from Scotland .
I couldn't stop watching this video for some reason watching someone making art like this is very inspiring and gives off a ton of motivation To those new painters drawers animators ect I myself am still trying to get better at this kinda stuff Keep up the great work O:
Thanks for sharing this one Chuck! Great tips that I will surely take into consideration as I go about my journey ...and again stunning job you have done with this!
I love your videos. I wish you would let me know more often when you Are working non acrylics vs oils. Are you blocking the deer with oil or acrylic? Thank you
im starting a fallow painting tonight ..with my sytle I tend to go backwards dark to light..but im ging to use your method.. tonight !! very helpful :)) when it comes to building colour
if you want softer edges on your "pixels", make sure you paint wet on wet and use a lot of paint thinner in the top layer. The paint thinner will cause the top layer to bleed into the layers below, creating a softer blend.
Curious how long this painting took from start to finish? Something like this would take me months I think🤔 Also May I ask if you are using acrylics? You said near the end that you switched to oils just wanted to clarify. Your painting and style wow! stunningly beautiful and breathtaking! You have an amazing talent and a fantastic eye for detail! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and time with us
My first tutorial of how to paint animal fur. I should say you’re far advanced , Otis fantastic , you did a great painting. Thanks.
Much needed and not like other TH-cam tutorials where they talk for 30 minutes setting up about bs thanks alot man definitely helped and I subscribed
You should watch Andrew Tischler's videos.
What a God send to me. I am painting impalas of the Serengeti and found this video extremely valuable to my painting. Thank you so much. ❤

Underpainting isn't necessary
@@mankirankamaal7251 I would disagree with that. There are many opinions on this subject though.
Oh! Wow. Absolutely brilliant talking through the whole project. The end result shows just how much time you spend on intricate detail. Pure magic.

We need to thank you for showing us how to do it!!
Thanks and I salute u for your ability to create reality on canvas. Your talent is just amazing!!
Love this. I have done this type of ‘pixelating’ in paintings. Didn’t know it was a ‘thing’ lol. I’m no expert but am learning, so thanks!
Thank you sir, I really have trouble when I get art exam about painting animal fur. Now, I can practice paint before I do for art exam.

Not only different colors but different coats for summer and winter and splotchy in between.

I’m learning how to do fur on a ceramic bulldog. This helped a lot
You just basically have to have a very thin pointed brush and dab gently close to one another , it's not as hard as it looks
This is lovely, thank u for sharing this I love what u said about pixelations and really makes me understand how to creat the allusion of fur. Keep u the good work😉
