I've had my Citreon C1 for five years now. She's reliable, no tax, cheap insurance, and costs around £40 for fuel - now petrol prices are going back down. Yes, She's noisy on motorways, but she's a great little runaround and has never let me down yet.
I have driven for 4000 km from italy to normandy and brittany with my girlfriend on my citroen c1 this summer, carrying a lot of camping stuff... is a great car!!! :D
Owning an aygo I can pretty much confirm that this car really isn't that bad on motorways and faster roads. To be honest, I'd rather drive it on those sorta roads than in the city. It can hold it's own perfectly fine.
+Andrew Wakeman If you don't care about refinement but want a new car, the Dacia Sandero is hard to beat. Our video review: www.carbuyer.co.uk/reviews/dacia/sandero/hatchback/video#video
Great little town car this one! I own an 2007 red 3 door, love it!! First time one a motorway, wasn't really the noise that was a bother, just a noticeable a sluggish feel, but overall great car :)
i'm a very bad driver (blame social conditioning, being bullied by instructors and male relatives, being a perfectionist with bad motor coordination skills), and this car is pretty much perfect for ppl like me. it was also cheap. would i prefer better windows, a smarter regulation of rear view mirrors? yeah. i'm fine with the storage space bc i usually travel alone. i bought a second hand car, and this was the overall best option for my budget. it's not everyone's cup of tea, but it's mine.
Toyota and PSA (Peugeot/Citroen) shared the development costs and the costs for making the factory that produces the cars. It is essentially the same car but with different outer body panels and a different badge.
got here from the fifa 10 soundtrack playlist this vid is in. thank you @bredikomon ! parallel parking sure looked easy in a spot a bus would fit.. the steel rims says it all. perfect fit
Well, driving regularly a car like this (the c1 before facelift) I really must admit, that the boot seems really tiny, as you said, but try it out in real situations - you may be amazed how much does it swallow. The problem for me is the high load lift AND the angle of the rear seats. With a bit of experience you find out that the boot is just what you need in a car this size. :)
I have one, from 2009 but the 1.4 HDI. It's the most stable super mini at higher speeds that I've owned! You can drive along with 110/130 Km/h for hours on end. Passing a lorry/ truck doesn't move the car from side to side. Managed 160 Km/h with relative ease. MPG? 4.1 - 4.7/ 100 km. average
I had a 2007 Citroen C1 from new and did 30000 trouble free miles in it., It was llike a go kart, quick away from the traffic lights, very good on fuel and fun to drive. The steering was unpleasant on a longer run - driving on motorways and fast roads it needed constant correction or it woud wander off to one side or the other, very tiring on a long run. The worst part was the rock-hard suspension , I don't know if later models have improved suspension, but it became too much and I sold it to get a Hyundai I10 which was luxury by comparison.
I've just bought a 2013 Citroen C1 after an accident in a 2012 Hyundai i10 that ended up in the car being written off, my previous car to my i10 was a 2009 Nissan Micra (another write off only a 3 month gap between the 2 my insurance has skyrocketed even though the second write off in my i10 wasn't my fault 😶) and the Citroen feels like a perfect mix of the easy maintenance and revs to get to speed etc as the Micra with the ease of driving and the good clutch control of the i10. It's not as much of a got all the bells and whistles thing as the i10 but as I use it as a commuting car really I don't need them just something cheap to run and gets me to work so it's perfect for that imo
Of course everyone buys these cars because of a big boot, no road noise and Ferrari performance..... And not because its reliable, cheap to buy, cheap to maintain, cheap to run, cheap to ensure and great fuel economy.............
i had a citroen c1 2012 top range version VTR . cheap to drive and insure. recently had a bad accident and none of airbags popped which was weird the car was complete written off i be honest with you my seat belt save me .
Your air bags didn't go off because contrary to common belief they don't work on sensors but voltage drop once the car cuts off within a millionth of a second the ECU PICKS IT UP AND AIR BAGs deploy..
Stop remembering us you're short ... You've already used all the expressions that could possibly be used to tell people you're short. Anyway, Thanks Carbuyer team .... Very informative videos.
Got the c1 for my daughter to do driving lessons I love the car you have to drive it hard in every gear it will do 70 in third gear 5 thousand rpm in each gear and is good fun on the bendy roads I sound proofed are car made road noise much better at 80 on motorway Toyota engine and box make it a must have little car
This is the car I currently have and it's my first car and it is very good. The clutch control however was a bit of a struggle to get used to at first because the clutch in mine is so high up off the floor when the biting point kicks in and it does rev its nuts off when you have to give it a fair bit of gas to go without being on a hill even while reversing. I'm not sure sometimes if the clutch in my car is supposed to be as high as it is or if it need a new clutch but I did however find out that the clutch can't be adjusted as it's not an adjustable clutch when it passed for it's first M.O.T since I've had it. Also when parallel parking this car it is the most difficult one to do so with out of cars I have driven before in my driving lessons and I have driven three different cars in lessons before I passed my test. It's not so much in the day when it can be a struggle but in the dark, even on well lit roads is when it's tricky because the mirrors are very small and it makes it harder to see where the curb is. Other than all that it is an all round brilliant little car for first time young buyers as I only pay about £35 - £40 a month on petrol and mine is the 1.0l VTR version, you can pick one up second hand for about at least £2,500 depending on the year, tax for mine is only £30 for the year and insurance is cheap compared to other cars in England for first time buyers. Mine is £950 for the year with my insurance or I think it's £125 a month but for the last three months of the year it's free. One more extra little thing is you should beware of crosswinds in this car, don't even attempt to do 70 mph which is the UK national motorway speed limit on windy days or even if your going over quite high bridges, you slow down to about 55 - 60mph in this car or the Peugeot 107 because they are virtually about 80% plastic and very light weight.
For anyone reading this with a high biting point on your aygo the clutch on most cars is hydraulic so the car automatically adjusts the clutch so the biting point stays the same throughout the life of the clutch. C1 aygo 107 have cable controlled clutches that you manually adjust. If your biting point is really high you will be wearing out the release bearing because it's like you are driving around with your foot slightly pressed on the pedal even if you arnt. I believe mechanics intentially set the clutches to high so you need a new one after 30k miles and they make easy money. TH-cam adjusting aygo clutch cable and you will see a guide on how adjust it and lower your pedal Your clutch pedal should have about 25mm of free play with 0 resistance.. as your clutch wears out just adjust it again and if it's really worn the clutch will start slipping and then it's time for a new one
What's interesting when she did a review of the Toyota argo. She said they was hardly room for her and she's 5 foot 4.5 But ben the other car review presenter at 5 foot 10.5 said they was just even room for him in the argo. Is the small the same the citron c1 and the Toyota argo. Model from 2006 to 2014?
I have this car as well, for the last five years. its great and good price, both for purchase and driving. speedy in the city and good control. You can without problem get in four grownups in this car without feeling mashed together. My girlfriend even added a pink steering sleeve to the red car, and when I comes honking on the road it can be quite feminine, but I don't need no large car to compensate so I don't car at all. ;)
I think both the Toyota and the Peugeot have the better front end. As with the other 2 cars: a strange mix of nice and awkward. They tend to look better or worse depending on the angle you look at one and the interior is a mess of bad french layout taste and cheap Japanees ecomaterials. But it is indeed quite a lot of car for the price...
If you can't parallel park, the answer shouldn't be to get an easily parked car, but to acquire the skill of parallel parking. What is it that causes people to shy away from learning stuff, I don't get it?

FIFA 10 brought me here. Nostalgia value is really high!
I spent some time with the near identical Aygo. Very good car for what it was designed for. Much bigger inside than it looks outside.
Owning an aygo I can pretty much confirm that this car really isn't that bad on motorways and faster roads. To be honest, I'd rather drive it on those sorta roads than in the city. It can hold it's own perfectly fine.

No, don't blame it on social conditioning and men, you're a bad driver because you're a woman.
It is what it is... A "First car" for a new driver or a "Pop to the shop 2nd family car"
