    I built a copy of the MESA Recto 2x12 cab and loaded it with Neo Creambacks. I'm happy to say they sound beautiful: nice lows (makes the floor shake!), creamy mids, and smooth even highs. I'm glad I chose them for my cabinet project :-)

    Good Day. I just found this site. Most Enjoyable Explanation and Demonstration of these speakers. My Fender Twin Reverb Tone Master has 2x12" Neo's in it. It's light and sounds excellent. I've heard Various Neo Speakers and they sound great in most uses.
    Thank You & Best Regards.

    I’m really looking into lightening my rig and I think one of these in a lightweight cab. I’ve been looking into the Quilter superblocks to pair with a lightweight cab and compared to the rigs I’ve used with tube amps and EVM-12Ls it’s a huge difference.

  • @joaoalbertoslongomartins8009

    Both are great. Greenback is more scooped and smooth. V-Type has a little more midrange, a bit agressive. I’ll will be happy with any of these speakers.

  • @zzubuzz

    I've just found out that that Orange ppc 212 V (verticle) comes with those, but they still put vintage 30s in the horizontal 2x12. Just thought I'd put that out there in case somebody is looking for a 2x12 and they like the neo creams. The verticle cab is open back, which I kinda don't like, and I'd bet the horizontal cab with the neo's would sound better to my ears with it's lower position and closed back. BTW in this demo I thought the Neo's sounded best overall.

    The vintage 30's are my choice, but having a light weight Neo that sounds good enough also makes sense. I'll carry the heavier weight to get that tone with the V30's.

  • @MRxr400
    @MRxr400 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    wow, they sound very nice. love the v30's in my box, they sound way better than this video shows, not saying unfair representation of them. i'm getting into IR's and moving my valve amp to the side. it's amazing the tones you can get with different speakers and amps. some speakers compliment amps, then destroy the tone of other amps.

    Who wouldn't like a light weight 12" speaker, right? Ive played myriad speaker brands and power ratings in my decades of on stage experience. As far the Celestion 12" goes, I never cared much for their high power speakers but damn there low watt speakers are the shit!! The greenback and the al-blue are hands down the best sounding speakers for rock n roll I've ever used and will continue to use them in my vintage Marshall amps. Expensive yes, but worth every penny!

    Hey! Nice review, helpful! I am thinking of upgrading my cab with a Zilla and to me pairs different speakers sound the best. What do you think about a V30 paired with Hesu demon vs a Neo Creamback paired with G12h 75? Which one would be more brutal for contemporary metal? I heard in a demo that the Demon and V30 would complement each other, what about the Neo and G12h 75?
    Thanks!

    • @adamsteelproducer
      @adamsteelproducer  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! For me the Neo has a deep darker voice, and the G12H 75 is more of a "classic rock" sound, so although it would sound great, not really the most "brutal" for metal. The guys at Zilla usually recommend combining a G12H 75 with a V30 - that way you get the mid range cut from the V30 and the brutal low end from the Creamback. Hope that helps - if in doubt, call Zilla directly and talk to Paul. Tell him Adam from Hop Pole Studios sent you! They are happy to talk about what you need in person.

    Hmm in the specs on celestions website all the neo variety roll of at 75hz instead of 70hz i think that should work fine in a mix but i dont know if it lends itself to super low tunings or 7 or 8 string guitars

    • @adamsteelproducer
      @adamsteelproducer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The exact top roll off has no relation to its suitability for extended range at all. We’re recording the new Monuments album with 7 and 8 strings with a Creamback Neo (blended with a V30)

      Ok, still holds true though. A few Hz has very little bearing on low tuned guitars since that’s not the major frequency range where the tone sits, even though the fundamental is there it’s much louder up in higher harmonics

      @@adamsteelproducer It's ok. We've figured it out. You're missing the point. There are no 4x12's made on the market with regular magnet speakers that are anywhere as light at 60lbs. Nobody is saying 60 is too heavy. Dan was correcting you in saying a normal production standard magnet 4x12 is way heavier. Marshalls around 86lbs, Mesa's around 100, Orange's around 110lbs. You mentioned in the beginning that regular 4x12's (before putting Neo's in) are 60lbs. They were just correcting your data. We are all good here. Cheers.

  • @OgamiItto70
    @OgamiItto70 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice demo, but don't be too sure about 2 60-watt speakers being enough for a 100-watt head. Most Marshall non-master volume 100-watt "plexis" generate _at least_ 135 watts, certain ones as much as 170 watts. This is because their output back in the days they were first designed and marketed was calculated _up to the point of distortion._ This is part of the reason why those amps are so much louder than later 100-watt master volume amps. Do you only ever run your hundred-watt plexi clean or with lots of attenuation? Unless you do, have a care about the power-handling capacity of your cab.

    • @adamsteelproducer
      @adamsteelproducer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s definitely more than enough. 120w of speaker handling is about heat load rather than power, and even though you “can” get 135-170W out of a plexi, unless you’re running a fuzz drone at maximum volume then you’re not going to get that as consistent power delivery, meaning the speakers will have ample time to cool inbetween. It’s not the issue people think it is.
      I did a set of demos a few years ago where I ran a 100W 6L6 head through a single 20W greenback for several minutes, no harm came to it because I stopped before the speaker overheated. It’s all related

    • @adamsteelproducer
      @adamsteelproducer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also, if on these amps 100W is “just a guideline”, then why not have 60W on the speaker be “just a guideline” also?
