Be harder on your scouts than you think you need to be. My scoutmaster was a nice guy, but he put up with no bullshit and that let us learn all sorts of useful things.
Also, when it's possible, push to let the rest of the troop participate in the eagle scout trips, I know not all troops do that, but having the opportunity to earn a spot with the big kids and do more serious stuff is a nice carrot to dangle, and the kids will surprise you and rise to the challenge more often than not.

Unfortunately, when you push today's scouts, they will just retreat into their devices and never show up again! A strange generation is coming of age. I put a 16yo in as a rower for the mile swim, I was more worried about the rower, than the swimmer. We have a generation that; Cant ride bikes, pump a swing, tie their shoes or row a boat! And Im sure many other basic life skills.

Drop back video time. The content in this video is unbelievable in quality, scope and quantity.
First was the choice of the campsite based on the terrain and available material. Oftentimes the hardest thing to see is what's right in front of your eyes. Open the sides during the hot weather especially when you're not expecting any rain yet by framing up another pole on the prevailing wind side attaching a roll-up tarp to it you've got your rain shield. Absolute brilliance on your part.
Was honestly wondering about the supports on the downhill side. Then when you added the tie on stakes, problem solved.
Your use of a flat tenon has caused me to learn that process as well. It makes a much stronger joint and adds stability to any structure.
Actually envisioning something like this as a long-term base camp which would be usable in at least three if not all four seasons provided material for fire making etc is available.

Click on the channel identifier (Corporals Corner) and then click on the word "Videos" at the top of the page. If you don't sort them, they will be grouped by category. I like to sort them by OLDEST first. Then scroll down to see descriptions of his previous videos. I like to "save" them to my phone so I can always see them in case TH-cam deletes any of them. Been watching you for a little bit now. I appreciate the videos. I'll be honest, I was getting bored with some other pages, and I've watched every episode of les stroud at least a few times. I'm enjoying your take on survival and how you have the more 'prim and proper' methods like scouts and such would want to show. I watched the other two videos you referenced already, and it has me wanting to attempt a similar build one day. Sadly I'm surrounded by RV camping and nothing for real camping anymore, but hope to get out soon for it. Between you and a few other channels, it's been giving me inspiration for projects and things to do with my kiddos to get them more into the spirit of living off the land. I have more a crude and boorish take on survival camping, so you've taught me a few new things, and given me new ideas. I appreciate ya!
keep on doing you, my friend.

    1. The precision and clean lines sets you far above most others. Thankyou for showing that handmade can be beautiful in addition to functional.
    2. You always show a range of ideas and individual components that can be combined in multiple ways for any build someone wishes to create.

I’m down in Fl and can’t wait to try some of your builds. If someone ever got lost or went down in a crash at least they could build a shelter and stay alive in the process of trying to get help. Keep the videos coming pls
    Take care

@@macarius8802 There is plenty of evidence that YT is highly political. This genre is likely viewed as potentially "right wing" which is assailed by the big techs. If that is their opinion, then one is left with trying to understand their antipathetical algorithm and somehow beat it. I don't see politics in CorporalAF's videos but I don't know anything about how YT algorithms work either.

Corporal: You should market kits of your shelters. Bundles of saplings cut to length, stakes, the rope you use to create all the lashings and knots, tarps, saws (if needed). Instructions, pictures. Sort of like the Sears and Roebuck Houses you could order 90 years ago and have delivered to your home via a train or truck. A great learning experience for children and adults young and old.
Place an order and have it delivered. It would be much more productive to be learning the skills you are teaching rather than wasting time on video games and wandering the mall. Semper Build

"Cooking with Corporal" could have a subtitle: "Badassery with Bacon!" Seriously however , your videos are helping me resurrect things I did when I was active in a church program called "Cadets" (similar to Boy Scouts). So, many thanks for all you do...
