Corporals Corner is absolutely the best bushcraft show on TH-cam! Ain't no doubt that this man knows his sh*t. I'm about 15 years older than him and was raised in a very remote part of the country. I've been running the woods since I was very small and I haven't ever stopped. Hiked 8 mountain ranges all across the US and into Canada, paddled the salt of both oceans and the gulf, numerous rivers in between. I ultralight backpack now and usually use the type of skills he presents on hunting and fishing trips only. It does my heart good to see these old school techniques demonstrated so adeptly, especially since so many of the people that I encounter in the big empty these days are completely dependant on the gadgets that they bring along. Salute!

I really like watching you build these structures in the bush. As an Aussie, I am really envious of all the straight, soft wood/trees you have at your disposal. Things grow a bit gnarlier down our way. ☺️
Ahh the old exploding river rock myth! They will definitely 'pop' when they crack. Explode... no. Unlike the fly spray cans from mum's kitchen, that mysteriously ended up in the fire. 😂
Thank you for taking the time and effort to explain much more, than just showing us you building the structures.

I had a rock explode once. It was a flat rock about an inch thick, and I pulled it out of a creek about two feet deep. I had cooked one side to disinfect and clean, and turned it over, above the fire, to cook some hotdogs. When it blew, two of the hotdogs landed in the water 35 feet away. This was long before I started learning from the Corporals wisdom. I kinda wish I wasn't so green back then. Keep up the good work. I learn from every one of your videos.

Thanks to my grandson Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of games I have learned to enjoy at 71. I am assuming you have built all these different shelters over the years on your own property. Hey Cpl Kelly. I live in Ky and in all my 52 years on earth, I have only ever found sandstone and young limestone to be the rocks that explode. Young limestone tends to have a slightly chalky appearance, and has multiple flakes of cracks.( Easily identified by this). And sandstone tends to have alot of air pockets that when heated will crack or explode the pieces out of the fire ring. Just some knowledge I got thru trial and error! As always man I love you videos and all that you share and pass on. Great job and keep up the videos. BTW, your videos are not too long. Truth is I think your content is awesome and informative. Awesome.
I remember the time when video games attempted to be realistic. You kind of turned it around.
It's going to be interesting what you meant by all those hints about bridges and jumping and all.

RDR2 my god what a game. I put 200 hrs into the single player story mode just to do everything then another 632 hrs into multiplayer. What superb inspiration for a camp build.

Thanks for another fun video. Rocks to tend to crack, but i've had one explode. nearly put my eye out; burned a good chunk in my scalp and some holes in my pack chair. To be fair, i've tried for 20 years to make this happen, but the one time i really thought the rocks were good, they exploded like a small hand grenade. i was lucky not to lose my eye--but also lucky to experience the elusive Exploding Rock!

Appreciate the info, I'm new to the outdoors, would have never imagined such a thing as an exploding rock.

@@toniy5515 General rule of thumb when using rocks for a firepit is leave a little distance between the rock and the fire sometimes just incase it's rained and to never use river rocks cause they can have water in them through the various pours and pockets in them cause as it goes the fire causes expansion and contraction and in a solid object like a rock it can be catastrophic as the op has posted.

Cheap/free source for metal roofing panels: Most places that install metal roofs get the precut panels in a stack that ships with a "blank panel" on the top and bottom to protect the finished panels. A blank is a metal roofing panel that is untreated/unpainted. Most of these places will give them to you for free just for asking. I have two 16' long blank panels in my back yard right now for a covered porch project I'll be starting this fall. Out of pocket cost for them, $0.00.

Fantastic job Corporal. I just started watching your channel. I purchased an 8x10 waterproof tarp off your Amazon listing. You have the best survival channel of those that I've watched over the last 10 or so years.
Keep on, keeping on, brother. I'm a 72 year old Vietnam Vet with Cll Leukemia. I can't get out in the woods much, but what you do on your videos brings a peaceful feeling.
    Thank You
