You kinda got yerself in a rut. Yer only doin' shelters n cookin' the same kinda foods. Break the rut. Teach 6-8 different types of fire pits and the uses for each. - 4 different ways of water purification - Desalinization of water for those close to salt water. Meat, fish, meal drying for long term storage. - Set up all yer tents together and do side by side comparisons, also with a tarp for those undecided. - Do a best clothing to carry, depending on time of year. - ETC,, Just to help ya break the rut. - By the way, SEMPER FI. 2533 radio, telegraph, teletype, 1/6/66 - 5/19/69. @@vernbower it’s for short term survival. 1-3 days. Not long term living in the wild. And this is for amateurs to survive, not expert enthusiasts., simple builds simple survival., easy stuff. If want something harder go to their expert survival class they have., see if you can pass that., with 20 mile full pack humps.
That’s a lot of work for a overnighter.,!!!
@@robertott8467 I am well aware of what you were/are doing. That is why I made suggestions. I wasn't suggesting long term living, merely survival in varied circumstances. ie, light pack with tarp. Setup full camp in 5 minutes in case of rain. Simple survival for short term. - As for myself, a knife and a coat is good. Turn me loose in the forest and I am good to go. Been at it since about age 5-6 and am 73 now. Merely suggestions to spice up yer videos. Let's not let our egos, or being macho, get the best of us. Life is too short.
Another OUTSTANDING AF video, as always!! Loved the candle holder, wouldn't mind you doing more little projects like that, really show off how to do more than just survive, rather enjoy a night or two in the woods. Maybe you could enlighten us a little more as to the Pathfinder school and event dates for that?
I’m a 50 year old woman, I’ll probably never, ever be in this type of situation, but after watching your videos, at least if I am, I have some kind of clue as to where to start.
Y'know... There's nothing preventing you from going out there and giving it a go for yourself? :)
I go lady.(I mean that with all do respect).
Hey, I’m 48, never too Kate to try something different
@@jameswilson4968 that's 'due' respect...just saying...
The fact that you’re a 50 year old lady watching impresses the hell out of me already, shoot, just go do it, what are you waiting for?
WOW!!!! That looks SICK!!!! One Corporal to rule them all. 💍
I was wondering how the shelter will age over the next few months. Will you take us to see some of the shelters you have built and what they look like after 3 months and 6months? Talk about what you can do to keep it viable if you need it longer than an overnight or weekend. or if you find an abandoned shelter how to judge what is need to make it use-able. Love you show see you next week..
I'll second that suggestion! I also would like to see how well they held up.
I was just thinking the same thing! A whole episode of visiting old shelters to see how they age.
Hell of an idea. He did recently have the bunk bed episode with medium sized dude. But more of that would be interesting
@@sdr22630 He has done a video where he went back to an old shelter
Good idea!!
Corporal wasnt playing . . . he said around 5-7 videos ago fresh content was coming and he wasnt joking. This is a gorgeous shelter. Mad respect for the attention to details.
Cool build. I'd love it if you could give us a "total build time" estimate (without filming). Like this shelter took 5 hours not counting filming. No one works harder than you to make videos for us. Thanks.
Joe robinet does
Thanks for sharing.
With all the horrible stuff going on in our country. I'm glad to still see your videos, and happy you seem to be doing well. It's a much needed break from the world
Amen and acorporal.
That’s an awesome life
Here we go with another episode of awesomeness. I have no problem running Corporal's Corner corner all day on Sundays. And sometimes during the week too when I'm working. I love to spread the word because this channel is legit.
"In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort.”
Brings back memories of reading the Lord of The Rings trilogy with my grandma.....
This Hobbit was a US Marine. 😂😂
You said meat tube. 😂😂😂😂 Freaking Pyle ! Rah Semper !
Yeah but better than nothing..
Hey Brother in Arms, I really think all your shelters are cool AF but what I really enjoy watching is the chows you cook up. Yum, yum!!
Not sure how I discovered your channel but happy I did!! Keep it going, my friend! Thanks!!
I know you have probably heard this already but just in case you haven't, when are you going to put out a Corporals Corner Cookbook? You have more than enough recipes for a bushcraft cookbook. Plus you can add things we have not seen yet. You can make it like a field manual, built hardy with that paper that can get wet and not get destroyed. A survival or bushcraft manual would be cool too but FM21-76, SAS Survival guide, Mike Hawk, Tom Brown, Les Stroud, and every other manual already exists. Having said that, if there were a Corporals Bushcraft I would get it. BUT, what you don't see often is cookbook centered around cooking bacon everything in various ways and a big assed steak on a rock. Something to think about.
Dave Canterbury has a book set that covers much of that, though more recipes, tip & tricks, more comprehensive/ specialized etc, I'd add to my pack library as well.
Go back à couple of videos and there is a hint at a book. Can't remember which one maybe two or three back.
Easy, add anything to bacon and add fire. Fine dining. Just keeping it a.f.
I've been thinking the same thing.
You see, these are the videos that should receive an award for being educational, fun & informative. Everytime I see the Corporal's corner, I get super relaxed and worry free. For a few minutes, it's therapy time for me. Outstanding AF!
I have to wait till right before a meal.
@@dontneedtoknow5836 i try to eat when corporal does 🤣
Some caramelized onions would set that off Cheesy Double Applewood Bacon with Pork Tenderloin & potatoes just right!
And some chopped hot peppers thrown in 5-10 minutes before the end.
Awesome to see TH-cam putting your older videos back into the algorithm! Awesome little shelter!
A good idea would be to take some kids out and teach them your skills,I think most need it. Kids that spend all day online.
I spend most of my time online but honestly I rather do this kind of stuff
Being 49 years old I can remember the only electronic game we had was the one you bounced a ball from one side of the screen to the other across a line.
I’ll volunteer to be a kid again !
I couldnt find the 3 pronged rake on Amazon. LOL
Gotta check the Self Reliance Outfitters page. 😉
He may decide to market them as "Rakes AF".
Kkkkkk
It's on Ebay
It's next to the pine needle mop.
Spring is an important time for the Marine... The warming temperatures and frequent rains create a different set of criteria for building a home and the storms provide a lot of deadfall to be utilized... Like the much smaller, but not much furrier beaver, the Marine plays an important role in rejuvenating the forest... By felling standing dead trees and disposing of smaller branches and leaves that build up over the previous seasons, he creates space for new growth and reduces fuel for furious forest fires that could occur during the summer droughts... Dry and filled with flammable resin, the standing red pines can quickly spread flames to the branches of taller trees... Let us now quietly watch as he settles in to his new home and prepares his evening meal, his great reward for a day of hard work...
Why am I reading this in David Attenborough's voice?
@@AlanTegtmeyer Yeah about the strength of it.
You're rocking it dude!
Couldn't have said it better myself!
Corporal turns what looked like nothing into that cool little shelter and then wishes he'd done more with the roof. That's why we all follow you. Committed AF. Love to see you expand on that idea. Natural roofing that's waterproof and with a fire inside (larger of course) - just an idea. Thanks!
As tight as he made that place, the candle would heat it nicely 👌
Outstanding AF. That bacon, pork and potato fryup with cheese looks soooo good. I love the shelter. 💯❤👍
This video is evidence of what one highly motivated Marine can accomplish when called upon. This marine is sharing his skills with you. Oorah show some love hit the like button and share
5 mins in and I just wanna say no other youtuber actually talks to us and explains it like you do. Well some do (usually the channels you recommend). You are one of the few that care about us. Keep'em coming sir! Looking out fucking standing! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
At this point we're not expect to see corporal to come inside anytime soon,
he's gonna stay out standing for the foreseeable future.
I see what you did there...
Every child’s dreamed secret hideout. I’m sure if my son wasn’t disabled, he’d want to live in it, (if his dad hadn’t passed away, he’d have built one in the backyard, for him) I know at 6 years old, I would’ve. 😊
Just purchased some items off of your Amazon Influencer page...JRTC coming up in April, going to be sleeping in a LiteFighter tent for 21 of the 29 days I'll be there...going to set up a lean-to with the tarp and cordage as a hang out or to stow extra gear, plus an air mattress to sleep on...or may use the LiteFighter tent to stow my gear and sleep under the lean-to. Imagine: a soon to be Staff Sergeant sleeping in lean-to Corporal Style!
"And now for the hard part" proceeds to stand up. - I felt that lol
You should just make a "That's a lot of work for an overnighter" coffee mug and sell it in the store. It's become a meme at this point.
I think I'd buy it.
I'd but one!
As the running gag in Robocop goes...., I'd buy that for a dollar!!!
Applies to dating too.
@@Roman-lu1xn I was going to make the fat chick joke but you almost beat me to it.
Until you realize how often you have to lift these logs to get the various shots, you cant appreciate how hard you work, Corp, to sell the narrative and keep us focused on the subject. Many thanks! Love the videos, too.
That’s awesome! I’ve been gathering gear to start this with my boyfriend. 😅 This is awesome!!!! 😁
I love how the hard part was getting out of bed in the morning. Relatable AF 💯 👏
It’s always amazing to see how many new builds the corporal can come up with. Never gets old
CPL Kelly, I enjoyed this build very much. I truly wish that the, "That's a lot of work for an overnighter.", crowd would leave it be. They seem to be forgetting that, while you are only out on an overnighter, you are showing your audience how to build shelters that could be used for days, or even weeks, if they find themselves in a true survival situation. So, while it may be a lot of work for an overnight stay, that work could be split up over 2-3 days, if needed, to keep you alive for however long it took help to find you.
Keep up the good work. It is a joy to watch you videos. Semper Fi!
Absolutely!!!
Building a shelter for one night is better than playing video games at home.
Days or weeks? The way that the Corp builds them would be good for months, if not years...keep it up Devil Dog, from an Army grunt
Morning coffee with the corporal, good timing and a cool build.
Great video Shawn. Keep them coming.
About a hundred years ago a Northern Plains Indian Chief said about daylight saving time, "Only a white man would come up with the idea that he could cut a foot off the top of a blanket, sew it to the bottom and believe he had a longer blanket." 🙂
I love that!!!
It is so true 👍!!!
In a hole in the ground there lived a corporal ... Great vid. Thanks.
This is what men in this country need to get back to. Working with their hands and truly living off the land that God granted us!
I have been eagerly waiting for your newest post. Thx for posting - appreciated and shared.
Anyone giving this a thumbs down has never left the comfort of their computer chair. Keep up the great work amazinAF
Who are you to judge why someone pressed the dislike button? Maybe they felt sorry for the insects, or maybe they think that it's a terrible waste for an overnighter, just imagine if all you noobs start doing this.
This is one I would hate to see torn down! It makes me want to find some small patch of woodland and work on it when possible, as a getaway and to develop skills. It would be fun to keep improving it but I guess that would make for a different concept than overnighters. Also, it would be harder to show skills, and in the long run, that is what this channel is about, learning to improvise for yourself.
You hear that, Shawn Kelly?? Your pubic has spoken!! I offer my humble experience as a master chef to help you with a cookbook, when you're ready to get 'er done.
Man, do what feels right corporal is awesome but we can do our own things also! Hike your own hike! I found a small 30 acres of private wooded land I was able to get access to 20 minutes from the large city I live in! It has been absolutely life changing, even though it's somewhat small I feel like I'm in another world when I'm out there!
Bark is so useful for bushcraft and people overlook it a lot.
Awesome. Also, idk why anyone would say your shelters are too small, anyone who's actually slept outside in the cold knows that a smaller shelter is best for keeping you warm because there's less space for your body to heat, and less are that can be cooled by the ambient temperature of the area you're in. It might be less important if you've got a top end sleeping bag to keep you warm, but if you're doing minimalist camping how you do, every little thing becomes so much more important.
This one was super cool use of surroundings.
One of your crazier builds. Ascetically pleasing. This has AF written all over it.
Might be my favorite build that you have done. Outstanding af.
Love how the "people" who question your shelter builds, etc, all sound like the same grumpy guy! LOL! Nice comfy shelter! Must say that meal looked so scrumdelicious!! Hope Ol' Gandalf stopped by to share some Old Toby (sweetest Longbottom Leaf!!)
I love that little hobbit house. That is just great nice little house out in the middle of the Woods perfect if you ask me. Don't listen to those other people that tell you it's too small. That's only because they live in big mansions and they really have no idea what it's like to live out in the woods.
I like getting your status in the morning. Your comfort level. You’re usually pretty open and honest about how your sleep was. I think it’s a pretty valuable metric to keep track of when you are testing so many different set-up’s and designs. I would value knowing the most restful and comfortable camp systems for various seasons and environments combined. Might be something to consider.
Nicely done Cpl. Baggins!
You will need more room once them Dwarves show up though.
Dwarves, being miners of renown, can dig a hole to sleep in
@@adrianfirewalker4183 lol, ok... you tell them...
Gandalf with his "wacky tobaccy" would be proud AF of this set up!
Another great vid coming from the corner. 👍
It's not Bag end, but for one day's work looks like the perfect place for the finest pipe weed in all the Shire.
Hey corporal, how about a collaboration with Dave if you can find time during pathfinder school? Would be a very cool video! Keep up the good work!
Yeah good idea
thank you for your service sir, and the work you do could be a life saving skill thank you for showing us all how to make a home out in the cold woods for survival i learn a lot from all of your video's . I hope you see this Jim
This is so cool! I’m fixin to be in the police academy but after I’ve transferred back to my hometown, I’m definitely gonna make this and use it for my camping trips on my off days!
This looks badass Corporal! Keep on keeping on!
I am a new subscriber. At 75 years of age, you have just motivated me to give this a try. The only thing I plan to do different is take my chain saw, pneumatic nail gun, electric blanket, 10,000 watt generator and 26 ft Winnebago. I think I can do this. 🙂
Wish me luck🙃
Ahhh, a man with a little wisdom. OUTSTANDING
I'll park beside u,
Have a hellofa time...
Hey, Raymond, anytime buddy!
_you've outdone yourself this time with shelter and damn dude when are you're MREs coming out?! You roll like a forest baller_
Oh and that candle puts out as much heat as you do
I underestimated this video. Camera work is really second to nobody. There are some really cool ideas and techniques in this build. Pretty high level of skill. I’m not sure I could do something as nice in the same amount of time in an emergency but I’d have fun trying if I was only building a shelter for personal use. Beautiful work. I’d love to see you do a right proper Prospectors cabin or something more permanent some day. Maybe you would too. Make it into a whole series. With your ability, imagination and attention to detail I’m willing to bet it would truly be a dream ‘big out’ space once you were finished with it. Seriously.
What a special fun shelter! Love it! Great camo!
I’m literally having the same thing for dinner tonight. i didn’t think of cheese on top though. Delicious!
🤣🤣 the pipe and wacky tobacky comment was all I needed to sub! Love the videos and all the little projects! Definitely keep it up!
That "candelabra" was a work of art! My dad was in the Boy Scouts in the 40's, just after the War. He could make all kinds of cool gadgets like that. He taught me, but I never had his innate skill/artistry/genius. Miss him daily. Good job, Corporal!
Any shelter only needs to be big enough to fit into comfortably. Anything more is just more space you have to warm up. And in cold weather, the lower amount of BTUs you need to produce the easier it is to stay warm... Thumbs Up!
Easy on the cheese sprinkling CPL!! You're dropping some cheesy goodness in the fire!! You obviously know the 3 food groups of veterans is, Bacon, Bourbon and, Cheese. 😁🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸😁
The Corporal is a real health nut. LOL. Makes me hungry af everytime.

That candle stick was cool AF btw.
Mr Chicko:
In your channel you mentioned something about cleaning kitchenware.
I don't know how he does that.
But I know he had
2 raw materials that could help. Ashes (potash), sawdust and water.
Just make a mixture of these elements and you'll get a prepper paste soap. Fine sand also substitutes sawdust.
It cleanses hands and the entire body as well (if you used sawdust).
Good for removing cars heavy black grease from hands too...

Corporal's Got Skill's !!!! Just saying. Thank you for your time and work.
You are awesome my friend.
Fyi, notification worked again. Effing youtube. Glad you're making vids.
Corporal is living a nature lifestyle that working class can't get out to enjoy.
Incorrect. You can get out in your spare time, practice, and have fun with only a good fixed blade (preferably carbon steel) knife or Swiss Army Knife (I suggest the Huntsman model; it has knife and saw blades on it), roll of bankline (it isn't expensive and a roll lasts a long time), inexpensive tarp (although the better ones are expensive), ferro rod and Bic lighter as backup, and 21" or 24" saw blade with which you can make a bucksaw (see his videos for instructions about how to make a bucksaw). The only difficulty you may have would be finding somewhere to go. I suggest you sort his videos from oldest to newest and watch them. Also, look at his video about the Eno hammock.
Hi Shawn. Thanks for another outstanding video. Full of humour, hard work, skill and "PATIENCE". A joy to watch. Best wishes from the UK.
Wow....I would camp out there. 🤔 Pretty amazing build !!!
Love the videos!
Semper Fortis, Devil Dog.
You should do a cooking show. 😆 that looks so good.

The Shirefolk would be proud. Outstanding!
Corp, the only thing i don't like about your videos is, when you start showing food, i start getting hongey😂
Love you, love what you do.
Keep em coming!🎉
In a hole in the ground, there lived a Corporal. Not a nasty, dirty wet hole full of worms and oozy smells, this was a corporal hole, and that means good food, a warm fire, and all the comforts of bushcraft.
There is nothing like a steak or chuck roast in the woods with multiple russet taters with butter and a sourcream topper.
There he goes... showing off how badass he is again... while I'm over here rocking the walmart specials. LMFAO! For real brother, dont ever stop. I live for your videos. Keep up the fire!

great utilization off fallen trees! and great video as always!👏

It's awesome 😊
Outstanding job impressive

Light it

I keep watching these and have to wonder if you gave the good Corporal a chunk of land and a few high quality tools and he'd have a cabin that's up to code anywhere in a matter of weeks. The plumbing might slow him down some but not much else would

Why dose that food look so good 😂
Because it is?
Welcome to Corporal's famous bacon dish in the woods
At Corporals, you will never go hungry.
People may complain that your video are on one night shelters and that they are a lot of work for just one night. They should realize that what you are teaching them is " how to make a sustainable shelter that will last more than one night in a shtf situation". Keep up the great work Corp. , your videos teach us all a lot. Thank you sir.
Thanks for the build Corporal. The one underrated thing here IMO was the door. I liked how well made it was even compared to your other doors. Didn't seem to use much cordage, was very simple in design, and looked outstanding!
Do you leave all the shelters you build or tear them down?
In the meantime, Bigfoot is is hiding nearby, watching and thinking to himself, " Man, I need to start a TH-cam channel. I can do all this without tools!"
I probably laughed too hard when you said, "meat tube."
I appreciate you showing how you tie your knots. I always learn something new from you!!
I enjoy watching your videos thanks for making videos like this one 🙏
