  • Zoom has a significant update for Meeting Polls. With Zoom 5.8.3, you can do Advanced Polling. There are six new question types in addition to single and multiple answers. You can now use short answer, long answer, matching, rank answers, rating, and fill in the blank. Another great feature is that you can add images to Poll questions! This is a HUGE update if you do polling in your meetings.
    Polls only work with a licensed account. You also must enable the Advanced Polling feature to use it. Everyone needs to be on the new update to see the advanced polling questions when the host launches a poll. To enable Advanced Polling, sign into Zoom on the web, go to Setting and check "Allow host to create advanced polls and quizzes". If you do CTRL + F and type poll, you will easily find advanced polling and enable it.

    I hope this doesn't sound like I'm poking fun, or in derision, but Chris' accent makes it easier to listen & follow! I know you're not supposed to think a compliment is genuine if you compliment something about which no one has a choice... Good video on Advanced Polling, Chris!

    Thanks a lot, Chris. For POLLING, the Rating type is probably the most useful, and it is the easiest to create as well.
    Looking forward to your upcoming vid on using these new advanced questions for QUIZZES. Thanks again.

    I don't like that the questions are called ranking questions when they are actually rating questions. Ranking questions are those that ask you to do a comparative ranking or sorting task. For example, please rank the following 5 items as to your preference, with 1 being your most preferred and 5 being your least preferred choice!

      Hello, Jane. That is called *branching* and it is not possible with Zoom. You could do that with Microsoft Forms. I'm not sure if Google Forms does branching, but I'm betting it does.

    Chris, If I understand correctly one can only add a single e image per question. What I'm looking to do is rank your favorite Dorito Chips 1st 2nd 3rd place and include the names and pictures of corresponding chip; Nacho Cheese, Cool Ranch, & Spicy Sweet Chili. It appears that I can only add one picture. Is that correct?

    • @ChrisMenardTraining
      @ChrisMenardTraining  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct, only one picture per poll. You could combine all three images into one would be my suggestion.

    Hi Chris, Thank you. A great video. Unfortunately, in my excitement I jumped in and created two complex advanced polls for an upcoming training workshop. Only, I created them using my PMI. So, they are now attached to that. Is there any way I can associate these polls with another meeting, or do I have to learn by my mistake and recreate them from scratch within the relevant meeting?

    • @ChrisMenardTraining
      @ChrisMenardTraining  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you are going to have to recreate them. One thing to note. make sure you make a meeting template of of the advanced polls so you can reuse them.

    Hi, Chris, Thank you for making this video! For Zoom Webinar I tested out the "Short Answer" option but unlike the other question types when I tried to display the answers for the audience and for myself (as Host), it only showed the number of people who had answered the question and NOT the Short Answers themselves. For example, if I asked about favorite rock band, it wouldn't display Queen, R.E.M., Beatles, etc. as the sample answers. I couldn't see this as the Host nor could I see the results as a pretend Attendee. There was a box with "for details" linked out to ?another tab but when I clicked it, nothing happened or showed up. I can't find the answer on the Zoom website itself (surprise, surprise....NOT).

      @@hilarymerlin1212 I haven't used Zoom for a large meeting in a year. But last year, what I found out is sharing results with a Zoom audience is only enabled for some question types and does not include short answers. Things might have changed since then.

    I am trying to allow participants to join before I (host) do. I’ve turned on the setting and turned off the waiting room and opted to use a password instead of using waiting room since I want participants to join without me. It’s still putting everyone in waiting room. I at least need someone to be able to join with my host key but that option doesn’t even pop up on one device. When it does pop up as an option on another device, the next page asks for u to login with email instead of just asking for the host key code. Please help. Thanks so much🙏🏽

    Hi Chris, the term "advanced polls" tells me someone can vote ahead of the actual zoom meeting. In my experience I've been able to launch a poll during a meeting, but how do I enable it for someone to vote in advance of the meeting, if they are unable to attend. That's the question of the day and will make the upcoming Special Strata Meeting a lot easier to run if I can do this! Cheers.

    • @ChrisMenardTraining
      @ChrisMenardTraining  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Zoom is using Advanced to mean their new poll question types. If you want someone to vote ahead of a meeting, you need to make a poll in other app. Either Google Forms, Microsoft Forms, or another poll app. Zoom will not allow polls before a meeting. Google Forms would probably be the best option.

    Excellent presentation. I have quick question. I used your lesson and created polls for my group with Pictures. Interestingly 65% participants could not see full picture on their iphone.
    Android users were able to see perfectly fine. When we share results every one can see full pictures. I am still confused , am i missing some thing in setup ?

    • @ChrisMenardTraining

      That sounds like a bug on Zoom's part. You clearly set it up correctly if some users can see the pics but other user can't.

    How do you setup a voting for an AGM ; for example 10 candidate to select ONLY 5

    • @HowardSongwriter
      @HowardSongwriter ปีที่แล้ว

      I've been thinking about this, and I have a proposed approach. It requires either being or knowing a good Excel programmer. At the moment, I'm too busy to actually implement it, but I can outline the plan, and I know enough Excel to be confident that it would work.
      You need to set up the ballot as an advanced poll, containing ten separate single-choice questions, one per candidate, with the possible responses "yes" and "no". We only want to count the "yes" votes, so voting "no" is the same as abstaining. You can also add an option for "abstain", depending on what people find most comfortable. You also need to set the ballot so the results are anonymous.
      Zoom lets you download poll results as a .csv file. If you set up the questions as outlined above, then the download will show you anonymous voter-by-voter results. That is, for example, it will show you that voter #1 cast "yes" votes for exactly five candidates, while voter #2 cast them for six candidates, but it won't tell you the voters' names. This doesn't prevent a voter from voting for the wrong number of candidates, but it does allow disqualifying ballots with the wrong number of "yes" votes, using either formulas or VBA macros. It should then be straightforward to tally the total "yes" votes from only the ballots that weren't disqualified.
