To be perfectly honest, the 1998-1999 TV series "The Crow: Stairway to Heaven" was a good show and, although it's not as great as the 1994 movie, it had its merits. There are also mixed reviews on Crow II: City of Angels (1996), some calling it underrated, others - awful, but ultimately, compared to the abomination that just came out on cinemas, all three projects are amazing at best and watchworthy at worst.
James O’Barr the man who wrote the comic book had an insane life. He doesn’t know his birthday because his mom was drunk when she gave birth and couldn’t tell the cops anything cognitive. He grew up in the Detroit child care system, and eventually grew up and found a girl to fall in love with, when he couldn’t get a ride home from work he called her and on the way she was killed by a drunk driver. He joined the US Marines where he drew manuals for wartime, and when he got back home intended to murder the drunk driver that killed his fiancé only to find out he was already dead. James wrote “The Crow” out of a place of pure pain. It was published and Brandon Lee loved the book and could even quote it. When Brandon died on set James blamed himself for another death of someone. It took going to Brandon’s tombstone a few years later that he would learn to forgive himself and end up finding a wife and having a family. This movie is fucking perfect
Good God! I can't imagine going through even half of that and remain standing! O'Barr reminds me a little bit of Van Gogh, taking his tragedy and transforming it into beautiful art.
James and Brandon had such a deeply special off-screen collaborative relationship. One could perhaps even say that his magnanimous portrayal of Eric Draven ultimately became the personification of what O'Barr had experienced in the flesh and this tortured him deeply. He blamed himself for the death of his fiancé and he also blamed himself for the death of the only man who truly knew how to embody his life's story, almost as though they themselves represented two sides of the same coin. Perhaps only Brandon could ever understand James more than even he could understand himself.
An absolute tragedy that we lost Brandon Lee during the making of this. He could’ve been a great talent like his father. No remake will ever duplicate the original Crow with Brandon Lee. It can’t rain all the time - RIP Brandon Lee
I think the second one was good too. After that one tho it goes down hill. The crow spirit is supposed to jump from person to person. I feel like making a remake is stupid if they were going to do a crow should've been a new character could've explored the mythology of the crow or a crow from before Eric to explore the history for world building
@@michaelammons2350 A medieval Crow film could have been great fun. Could totally play into the superstition of the time period! Much like the fan made Predator film set in the middle ages where crusaders are being hunted down
Michael Massee (Funboy), the actor who accidentally shot Brandon Lee during filming, was almost incapable of finishing the movie because he was so devastated by what happened, but did finally complete the film, and then after it was done, he took a break from acting for an entire year, which is very understandable. Unfortunately, he died in 2016, and he could never bring himself to watch the movie for the rest of his life, because he said that the PTSD was just too much. Also, Brandon Lee’s stunt double was Chad Stahelski, who would go on to eventually co-direct, and produce, the John Wick movies.
Your 100% right, in fact I don't if your aware of it. There is a TH-cam video of him being interviewed where he broke his silence about that accident, it's very hard to watch. This accident was NEVER his fault.
The main advantage of the film is the actors. Every single one is perfectly matched. Brandon Lee, Ernie Hudson, Michael Wincott, Bai Ling and of course Sofia Shinas. They all make this movie a CLASSIC. It was the cast that created the Gothic world, the world of the 𓄿"Black Raven".𓄿 The film is worth watching just for the sake of one moment, when Eric Draven stands on the roof and plays the guitar, and then smashes it into splinters. In my opinion, this scene is the most emotional and the most expressive. Thank you for this reaction!🦊🔮
@Logan-ed4pu I PERSONALLY WATCH THIS MOVIE ONLY ONE TIME EVERY YEAR ON OCTOBER 30TH, AND I DO THIS TO PAY TRIBUTE TO BRANDON LEE... IN A WAY I GIVE BRANDON LEE MULTIPLE CHANCES TO COME BACK FOR ONE NIGHT....
James O'Barr the writer of The Crow originally started writing the story as a way to cope with the death of his fiancé. Brandon Lee was meant to marry his fiancé shortly after filming. Sadly he was laid to rest 14 days before the original planned wedding date. In interviews for the film he referred to Eliza as his "immortal soul mate".
O'barr put all the grief and rage he had over his fiancé's senseless death at the hands of a drunk driver into those comics. A piece of art and storytelling that is beyond potent.
Just a moment to acknowledge Michael Wincott for being the most natural villain ever just because of his voice. lol I think I'll do a to-do list just for fun. Michael Wincott to-do list: ✅The Crow The Count Of Monte Cristo (wherever this is on your list, it should probably be way higher) Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves (Kevin Costner, Morgan Freeman, Christian Slater and Alan Rickman. the only Robin Hood we'll ever need) The Doors (Val Kilmer's prime, playing Jim Morrison.) Strange Days (a low-key favorite. 90s movies in a nutshell) Alien: Resurrection (Maybe the worst of them. Still can't stop watching.) Along Came A Spider The Three Musketeers Hitchcock Romeo Is Bleeding Metro Dead Man Nope
Considering that quote had been around for over 100 years before the movie, I don't think that it qualifies for the distinction of being so important. Great line for this movie and scene, but it wasn't written specifically for the movie.
*The Crow isn’t just one of my all-time favorite comic book movies, it’s one of my favorite movies in general. Everything about this movie is just damn near perfect from the Gothic aesthetics, the action, the excellent soundtrack, exploring themes like grief and most importantly, Brandon Lee’s will remarkable performance. It’s just extremely depressing that he died during production because this film showcase the brilliance of what was destined to be for Brandon’s career. What could’ve been.*
Funny that ya'll kept comparing this movie to Joker because the camera work in the scene where Eric walked in on the bad guy's little meeting was the inspiration for the camera work in a similar scene in The Dark Knight!
The disappearing pencil trick was a masterful thing. And how Joker called out the banker. It definitely had this kind of energy, but the mob bosses in Gotham had brains in their heads.
"The Crow" is not a movie about justice from beyond the grave, it's THE movie about justice from beyond the grave. A so touching love story painted in the tragedy of two pure souls in a world full of evil. How don't love it? RIP Brandon Lee. We'll always remember you.😢
The fact that the new one made everyone of this generation go back and appreciate the OG is well worth the price of THAT admission! Brandon is smiling down on us ALL!! 🐉⛩️🌹
One of the greatest movies ever. The late, great, Brandon Lee, son of Bruce Lee, was going to rise to the top but his life was cut short, too soon, and tragically, so young. I clearly remember when it happened. What a shock to the nation, to the entire entertainment industry, and to the fans, whether they were Brandon Lee fans or not. No good person wants death on another. None of the sequels compare, a re-make is an insult. I sure hope this movie goes into your hearts, Magy & Laura. I love it so much, and I hope you both do, too.
This movie is like a testimony to the real life tragedy of Brandon Lee; though his career was brief, he is a legend thanks to this epic movie which keeps his remembrance alive.
The Crow always reminds me of a late actress whose career was also brief, also rose to fame doing superhero work, who also appeared in The Crow (sequel), and whose passing was also tragic
It’s actually nice that they watched the movie unaware of Lees death. As a result they could judge it strictly on its own merits and thinking about the tragedy regarding Lee.
*So glad you (finally) saw The Crow!* 🐦⬛ *I saw at the end you looked up what happened to Brandon. Did you look up how it happened? It was just so tragic. It happened on March 31st, so some people thought it was a (bad) April Fool’s joke, but sadly it wasn’t.* *The movie was basically finished, but they had to redo some scenes with a double and place Brandon’s face on them (one of the first films to do this). He had made a few films before this, but The Crow was going to make him a star. And he died at only 28. And it eerily mirrored the sudden accidental death of his father, Bruce Lee, at the age of 32, who I’ve always been a HUGE fan of. He also made a few films before, but his last one he finished, Enter The Dragon, is considered the greatest martial arts film ever. It’s one of my favorite films of all time. All his films are great. After you see Enter The Dragon, you’ll be amazed at how he could’ve died at such a young age and in such great shape. His presence on screen was mesmerizing, and he defined the term “badass”, and see how his influence has affected modern fight scenes, like in John Wick.* *Brandon was taught martial arts by his father, and did show his skills in films like Rapid Fire and Showdown In Little Tokyo. In my opinion, if he hadn’t died, I think he would gotten all the action roles Keanu Reeves got, like Speed (you have to see that too), The Matrix films, and the four John Wick films.*
Interesting fact, in case nobody had said it yet, in the scene from the movie The Dark knight when the Joker shows up at the meeting the Mob was having is a tribute to The Crow. Rest in Peace Brando Lee, The Crow Forever & Always
@@michaelammons2350 Well, everyone comes from somewhere. The current generations have more "50/50 genetics" kids growing up, but realistically we've all got a blend of genetics. You'd have to come from a very isolated, probably rural place that doesn't like outsiders to have a strictly 100% "pure" genepool...
Brandon may have passed during the making of this film but the movie itself heeps him alive, I believe that's why this movie hits different when you watch it. If it is life imatating art it's definitely art you can feel.
Eric and Shelly died, Eliza was taken from Brandon and James, the creator of the comic, also had the love of his life taken from him by a drunk driver, for which he created the comic as therapy. This is such a tragic movie full of meaning, but also one of the best and most beautiful movies of the 90s Buildings burn, people die, but real love ist forever
My friend's dad was in the Army Corps of Engineers and built models for The Crow. He gave his production T-shirt to a mutual friend. When my friend died, he left me his signed trade comic and signed, (by creator James O'Barr) limited edition photographs of the covers of The Crow comics which I shared with his other best friend.
"Hide the Crow" was such a creative idea. If you keep the crow in a secure location you will be constantly invincible. Sure the the Crow Vision and the epicness of have one fly onto your shoulder all the time is cool. But Stay Immortal. The bird is a massive weakness.
Brandon Lee really immersed himself into the role. He would come up with ideas about the character, mannerisms, speech pattern, stunts and even the makeup. He really loved the character which makes it even more tragic but also shows that he could've been one of the greatest action stars of the 90s. RIP Brandon.
Brandon Lee, son of Bruce Lee, died during the filming of this movie. No sequel or reboot will ever match the original. And one of my favorite soundtracks.
Yup I am normally not a fan of groups covering other groups songs because they normally don't surpass the original but NIN doing Dead Souls is a solid exception to that rule.
The most 90s movie ever made. Even the story of how it was filmed and forced to be re-edited was 90s af. The soundtrack is 90s af, too. The Cure, Ministry, STP, Machines of Loving Grace... just a stacked bunch of songs. Love you, both.
This film was filmed about an hour from my home in Wilmington N.C.. Sound stages and studio props really do create movie magic, when in the hands of skilled creators! Great reactions! This film seems to only get better with age.
Bad movies are no excuse for soul poisoning toxicity in response to them. You haven't appreciated this movie if you don't understand as Eric says that "nothing is trivial".
@@notu9315 we are talking about the old movie without Michael right, cause that would have worked as a stand alone. The new trilogy however is garbage and therefore non-existent.
I suggest a watch before writing it off. I love the original far more. That said, the 1hr55min runtime of the new one didn't feel like a waste for me either. Nothing will ever be the original. We lost too much in its making. That doesn't mean bringing the aesthetical sense to a new generation is a waste of time.
This takes place 6:34 in Detroit. James O Barr, the creator of the Crow is from Detroit. A little bit of information about Devil's Night. It was a term created in Detroit for the day before Halloween because at the time, street gangs were burning up the abandoned buildings and houses in the city. This went on for many years. It has since gotten better. I'm from Detroit and thought this would add some context for you.
It's been revealed that it wasn't street gangs - it was landlords. The fires weren't random, they were doing insurance fraud (in cahoots with the cops and insurance agents investigating). This is why Top Dollar is having people evicted - even if he has the cops in his pocket, they'll go after him if he kills entire buildings full of tenants. He owned the building Shelly and Eric lived in.
There is only one Eric Draven/The Crow and his name is Brandon Lee(RIP). Brandon Lee's stunt double was Chad Stahelski, who would go on to direct the John Wick films and he had to finish Brandon's scenes after the tragedy. Also James O'Barr the writer of The Crow wrote the story as a way to cope with the death of his fiancé after a drunk driver took her life and in a cruel twist of fate Brandon was going to marry his fiancé after this film wrapped and 14 days later he was laid to rest before the planned wedding day.
This movie is so close to me. I was 14 when it came out. I went to see it at theater with my girlfriend at time. I had been into martial arts and obsessed with bruce and brandon lee. I loved all the bands on the soundtrack and knew most of the bands before it came out. I lived in Raleigh North Carolina at the time. Most if not all of the movie was shot in Wilmington NC. A girl that lived in the same neighborhood as me that I was friends with. I was at her house one night when we found out he was an SBI Agent who was one of the agents that had just worked on the case. He told us what happened. I even got him to come into my 8th grade science class. He told us all about it and explained crime scene science stuff to make it a scientific learning experience.
The scene Brandon was accidentally shot in was a reshoot of the Fun boy apartment scene. Ever since then, the actor who played Fun boy never touched a firearm again, he blamed him self for it and to a certain extent still does. The details of the event are available online for the curious, but it was a terrible oversight of potential harm on a movie set.
It wasn’t that scene. It was when Eric and Shelley were killed. In the final film, Tin Tin threw a knife when Eric (played by the body double) walked in. He was originally shot by Funboy, but that footage wasn’t used, for obvious reasons.
@@Stubbies2003 th-cam.com/video/p3MZ3aFrSFs/w-d-xo.html Just now watch before you snive commentary I wouldn't have Know Michel Massie Had passed, last thing I remember him in was Supernatural
I'm really glad you looked up the story of what happened during filming. Michael Massee, the actor who played Funboy, got really screwed up by the accident, and didn't act for a long time after. Blamed himself, obviously. There were supposed to be more dialog scenes between Eric and Sarah, the little girl, but every time they're in a scene together, like when he saves her from getting hit by the taxi or when she goes up to his old apartment to look for him, you never see his face, because that wasn't him in those scenes. He was already dead by then. They used a body double, and used much less dialog so you couldn't tell it wasn't him. It seemed like he was just hiding his face from her, but he was hiding it from us.
ironically enough like in the movie. As soon as the making of this movie wrapped up. Brandon Lee was about to get married to his fianceé Eliza Hutton. But sadly because of a tragic accident, Brandon was killed by a Prop gun which wasn't prepared properly by the actor who played Fun Boy, Micheal Massee. The gun had part of a real bullet, which got lodged in the barrel, there is a scene where Micheal was supposed to shoot Brandon. But what he didn't realise is that he accidentally shot Brandon for real. (The accident in question isn't in the film, thank god) There is a video on TH-cam where Micheal broke his silence for the first and only time about the accident. It's very hard to watch, because you can tell that he NEVER got over this accident which wasn't his fault. Sadly though, Micheal Massee passed away in 2016 from Stomach Cancer. Out of respect to Brandon he NEVER saw this movie.
The stark white of the cat is meant to display the purity of Eric's life before the murders. It is a great contrast against the black and grit of the apartment now.
It was a film that was pretty groundbreaking at the time, I mean The Dark Knight borrowed a lot from it and if Brandon hadn't died then it would have been a hit and spawned more comic book films. Yeah Brandon was killed when the end of a primer round sat in the barrel and a full powder dummy round that's used to make a loud bang pushed it out the barrel at high velocity. The primer round has a metal cap like a bullet but the primer isn't enough to do anything but slightly uncap it. It's basically just for looks. The other is for sound. Together they can create a real bullet.. What's freaky is his family and everyone knew Brandon wanted the film completed, so they used a mold-mask (that was made prior) of his face on his double for some shots, and the crew had to basically look at a Brandon lookalike while mourning Brandon. It was rough. A couple films have done this actually.
I've been to see his grave in Seattle. It's pure white marble and he's next to his dad, Bruce Lee, whose grave is pure black marble. This film feels like a tribute to Generation X in both the way it looks and the way it feels. I know they made a new movie also called The Crow, but I simply can't watch it. Certain films are untouchable. They should never be remade. This is one of them. I'm glad you've gotten to see this film and appreciated it. If you want another film from just a few years prior that's spooky, I'd recommend "Flatliners" starring Kiefer Sutherland, Kevin Bacon, and Julia Roberts among others.
First of all I am so happy you finally got around to watching this iconic classic film Magy. Secondly I loved that you did the research and found the tragic story behind the scenes of this film. And finally I hope you will consider watching Showdown in Little Tokyo (1991) and Rapid Fire (1992) also as these 3 films are Brandon Lee's Legacy and Gift to us. R.I.P Brandon Lee (1965-1993) 🙏🕯
I am so glad you two found this movie. It is one of those forgotten classics. So good! Yes, the bad guys are really bad, and the good guy is even pretty bad, LOL! I enjoyed rewatching this one with you both. Thank you for sharing it. You did good! 🙂
I am from this city, and yes, Devil's Night is a real thing. The night before Halloween, only in Detroit. In the 80s and 90s, the city would be set on fire every year.
So much about this movie stands alone as a one-of-a-kind experience. The tragic death of Brandon Lee. The amazing job they did finishing it, and making it a tribute to Brandon and Eliza. The cast was fantastic. The soundtrack was perfect. Hollywood keeps trying to make sequels, or remakes, and they really shouldn't. I'm glad you reacted to it. ❤🐺
The Crow is the best Anti-Hero comic film ever made. This film is the Godfather of iconic films characters. The Crow was the foundation for Wesley's Blade, Keanu's Neo and Heath's Joker!
This is one of those movies that has a vision of what it wants to be, what story it wants to tell, and what it wants the audience to feel during it... And it perfectly nails it.
Devil's Night is actually the night before Halloween. A phenomenon began decades ago that on the might before Halloween mass arson would occur and it lead to the night being associated with that day. It become like an annual dark tradition among a segment of society in Detroit and the nearby surrounding areas that people would go around just setting houses and buildings on fire in massive numbers. It's supposed to have gotten better, but I wonder if that's because Detroit's housing market is so terrible the burned areas aren't being rebuilt so there's just fewer of them for people to burn.
Enjoyed watching this reaction. I'm a huge fan of this movie and it's great seeing a new generation react to this and still be affected by both the story and with what happened to Brandon Lee. Glad you both watched this! It's a great one. :)
Brandon Lee had been acting for a few years prior to this, mostly in awful B-list movies. If you look at this performance without knowing what happened to him, you would swear he became a megastar because of it. He truly was on the verge of exploding in popularity because of how good his performance and this movie were. The tragedy of his passing caused this movie to gain cult status among teenagers and college kids for over a decade, and still anyone who watches this for the first time is generally blown away at how good it is for the storytelling, set design, etc. I like to think that in some parallel world, Brandon is still alive and became an even bigger star than his father.
I had this movie on VCR and after the film there was behind the scenes, where Brandon was talking about not taking things for granted. Him saying "how many more times will we see the sunset?" or something along those lines hit hard knowing what happened.
i loved Bruce Lee......absolutely adored his movies and his style. When his son became an actor I made a point to watch his movies. When Brandon got this part I felt.......something was happening in the genre that Lee would pick up this role and do such an incredible job. i KNEW it would be a success and then I heard the news, he died in an on set accident. It almost single handedly KILLED the genre. There was a brief revival in 2008 but that has since cooled down tremendously. I miss the Father......and i miss the son.
T Bird dead scene is most powrefull scene in the movie, David Patrick Kelly action and Brandon Lee silence upon the great Clint Mansell soundtrack - masterpiece!
“People once believed that when someone dies, a crow carries their soul to the land of the dead. But sometimes, something so bad happens that a terrible sadness is carried with it and the soul can't rest. Then sometimes, just sometimes, the crow can bring that soul back to put the wrong things right.”
30 years without Brandon The Crow Lee who inspired gothic genre movies , one of my favorite characters of all time , so sad that this movie production before getting wrapped end it in tragedy , entire cinematic universe lost very talented star as Brandon ❤💔💔🖤🖤 very painful and heartbreaking movie 💔💔🖤🖤 movie line like - is that gasoline i smell? 🔥🔥🔥 the most awsome movie line to this day 🔥🔥💔💔💔
Seen this movie many times. But seeing it now is the first since my wife died. I found parts super sad and the ending brought me to tears. Its been 5 years but I think of her every day and wish I could have gone with her. But I think in a way i was left to love and care for our little dog. He is now 16 and 3 lbs..tiny little lovebug of a chihuahua. Ill see her again one day. Not afraid of death any longer.
Based On Both Of Your Reactions To This Film I Cannot Express How Much I Really Am Extremely Grateful That You Finally Reacted To This All Time 1990's Classic Gem! YOU Have Witnessed An Actor That Had So Much Extraordinary Talent! Magy, Your Words At The End Of This Reaction Simply Were On Point! The Quote Towards The End Of This Film Said By Sarah Is My Most Favorite Quote In The Film Because Like You Did Say, Magy, It's Beautiful And Has a Strong Meaning! Now I Don't Mean To Bring This Up But If Both Of You Reacted To The Sequel After This Film (The Crow: City Of Angels) YOU Might Like It Because The Story Continues After The First One! But BEWARE, The Second Film Has More Darker Tones Than The First Crow! It Also Introduces You To a New Character Like "Eric Draven"! Magy, YOU Don't Have To Watch It Though! The Crow Series Is a Trilogy With Four Films Total! 3 & 4 Were Pure Garbage But Two Is Not Bad, Trust Me! The Score Composed For "The Crow 1994" Is Composed By "Graeme Revell" Who Also Did The Score For "The Crow: City Of Angels"! But It's Not a Requirement To Watch The Second! Only If You Want To Watch It, Magy! I'm So Glad You Finally Reacted To This Film!
Brandon Lee along with his father Bruce Lee both died way too soon. But left behind so much in their performances as martial artists and actors as well. They will never be forgotten and may they forever rest in peace.
Brandon Lee only got to do a couple movies; this one, which will be a classic for all time. I think it broke the mold. Bad idea to try and remake it. But he also was in a movie called Rapid Fire, which was a really cool sort of B-level action movie. Another tragic loss from a tragic family. RIP Bruce and Brandon.
Thank you for reacting to this movie, It is to this day my all time favourite movie and without question an absolute masterpiece, The loss of Brandon Lee and the exemplary performance of all the Cast, The screen play, special effects(although dated now) and finally without a doubt The MUSIC!!, everything makes this movie flawless! It's a joy to see younger people discover this masterpiece, and realise it's the greatest revenge story but also a beautiful gothic love story too!
One of my favorite movies with two of my favorite themes: love and retribution. It hit me hard after I watched it in the theater as a young adult a long time ago. RIP Brandon, you were on your way to becoming a star.
this film is a masterpiece, close to perfection, everything is brilliant, the soundtrack, I love the Cure's music, it's super effective and what can I say about Sarah's quotes at the end and beginning of the film one of the comic albums was the crow: a macabre love story beyond life and death
Brandon Lee had earned the respect of many for being so young and having to live up to the myth his father created. Big man Dolph Lundgren was very close friends with Brandon and was devasted by his loss. So was the entire cast and crew of the Crow. The little girl who played Sarah stopped acting after this movie for good as a result.
The real tragedy of this Movie was Brandons death on set, A bullet had gotten jammed in a gun and when it was later filled with blanks this round was forced out and injured Brandon, he died March 31st 1993 at 1:04am. He was due to marry Eliza Hutton on April 17th 1993 just 17 days later... Hence the first words after the movie are"For Brandon and Eliza".... People leave traces of themselves in objects they own, an imprint of memories if you like, Eric instantly feels these imprints, it's why he dropped Gabriel after picking him up, he SAW what happened to Shelley through Gabriel, he SAW and felt the depravity of all those involved as he fought them, it's why he turned away after saving Sarah in the rain, his reaction to Shelleys ring with his eyes shut "No, no, no...." then he froze as he finally felt her presence and her love, his absolute terror when he touches officer Albrecht He saw it ALL... Eric also got to see and appreciate all those who cared about Shelley and himself and what happened to them. He also feels what they both meant to people they interacted with and their memories.. It's why Shelley comes for him at his graveside to take him to peace at last.... There were still scenes to be filmed and also some photography to be completed when Brandon passed away. At the behest of his family and Fiancee they used a stand in, Brandons stunt double, both of them trained at the Inosanto Acadamy of martial arts run by Dan Inosanto. That stunt double was Chad Stahelski (the director of John Wick), due to their training and friendship Chad knew how Brandon moved, spoke and even how he thought, so He was perfect to fill in for the final scenes... I cannot imagine how hard that was for all those who knew Brandon and worked on the movie after his passing. Dan Inosanto was an instructor at Bruce Lees' matial arts dojo's and became the voice of Jeet Kun Do after bruce died.. I can't watch this movie without weeping because of both Brandons powerful portrayal and delivery of his lines plus those absolute gems of humour he brought to such a dark role...
Don't know if you two know this or not here back sometime in the 1990s and on the Syfy channel, There was the crow: a stairway to heaven tv series. It was really good. If you get a chance to please check it out, I think you may like it. Also you could always watch the trailers for it too.
Honestly, the only thing I can do is watch this movie. Because because of the death of Bruce Lee's son. But watching this movie. I can't tell you girls... that I realized how amazing of a performance Brandon Lee could stand out and execute brilliant moments as the Crow.👏🔥❤ WOW CLASSIC... and Rest and peace. 🙏👌
RIP Brandon Lee. The one and only Crow
Makes this film more sad
Abashed the Devil stood and felt how awful goodness is.
There have been Crows for millennia, Pompeii, Egypt, Stone Henge, Woolloongong ... There is only one Erik Draven
True! I think Bill Skarskard is amazing, but he should have never acctepted this role especially if he knew who the director was.

Good God! I can't imagine going through even half of that and remain standing! O'Barr reminds me a little bit of Van Gogh, taking his tragedy and transforming it into beautiful art.
this movie is a masterpiece, no less no more
Wow. This makes The Crow even more meaningful. Thanks for the backstory.

Unfortunately, he died in 2016, and he could never bring himself to watch the movie for the rest of his life, because he said that the PTSD was just too much.
Also, Brandon Lee’s stunt double was Chad Stahelski, who would go on to eventually co-direct, and produce, the John Wick movies.
i feel so bad for him. everyone knows he didn't mean to but he carried the guilt the rest of his life.
Even the writing's great; I don't think I've heard a villain use "saprophyte motherfucker" since.
Two of the best villains, "I think we broke her" still creeps me out, not to mention the whole eyes thing and the incest.
God, I love this movie. It really means a lot that you appreciated it.
Came here to mention James O'Barr's fiancée, it's like this story is built on tragedy from start to finish.
O'barr put all the grief and rage he had over his fiancé's senseless death at the hands of a drunk driver into those comics. A piece of art and storytelling that is beyond potent.
@@JLVTar Ditto
Just a moment to acknowledge Michael Wincott for being the most natural villain ever just because of his voice. lol I think I'll do a to-do list just for fun.
Michael Wincott to-do list:
✅The Crow
The Count Of Monte Cristo (wherever this is on your list, it should probably be way higher)
Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves (Kevin Costner, Morgan Freeman, Christian Slater and Alan Rickman. the only Robin Hood we'll ever need)
The Doors (Val Kilmer's prime, playing Jim Morrison.)
Strange Days (a low-key favorite. 90s movies in a nutshell)
Alien: Resurrection (Maybe the worst of them. Still can't stop watching.)
Along Came A Spider
The Three Musketeers
Hitchcock
Romeo Is Bleeding
Metro
Dead Man
Nope
Absolutely to The Count of Monte Cristo. Another piece from Alexander Dumas so that alone says volumes.
I feel like Michael Wincott’s performance as Top Dollar has already become so memorable and iconic and I feel like it doesn’t get talked about more.
Forget Nope, that film was shit.
"Mother is the name for God
on the lips and hearts of all children"
... THE most important single line in modern cinema
not sure who edited this for ytube, but cant believe that line was left out.
Brendan Lee’s stunt double also went onto direct John Wick films
Really cool, I didn't know that.
Funny that ya'll kept comparing this movie to Joker because the camera work in the scene where Eric walked in on the bad guy's little meeting was the inspiration for the camera work in a similar scene in The Dark Knight!
100% true
Thanks, ladies, for sharing your reaction to "The Crow." Brandon Lee is also memorable in "Rapidfire" and "Showdown In Little Tokyo."
This isn't Gotham. It's Detroit (T-Bird refers to his crew as "Motor City Motherf*ckers" - Detroit is known for car industry)
I think they mean it feels more like Gotham than a real place. It's always dark and always raining. Very like a film noir comic.
This is the one and only CROW!!
Except for the 50 sequels.
The TV series starring Mark Dacascos was really good.
@@NightRaven650 stop smoking crack ASAP
No it is not.
This movie is like a testimony to the real life tragedy of Brandon Lee; though his career was brief, he is a legend thanks to this epic movie which keeps his remembrance alive.
We still love him and his film. I imagine future generations will do the same. In this way, Brandon Lee still lives and always will.
There can only be one Eric Draven and that’s Brandon Lee RIP 🪦
Nope
"It can't Rain all the time" Brandon Lee ❤️🙏
*So glad you (finally) saw The Crow!* 🐦⬛
*I saw at the end you looked up what happened to Brandon. Did you look up how it happened? It was just so tragic. It happened on March 31st, so some people thought it was a (bad) April Fool’s joke, but sadly it wasn’t.*
*The movie was basically finished, but they had to redo some scenes with a double and place Brandon’s face on them (one of the first films to do this). His presence on screen was mesmerizing, and he defined the term “badass”, and see how his influence has affected modern fight scenes, like in John Wick.*
*Brandon was taught martial arts by his father, and did show his skills in films like Rapid Fire and Showdown In Little Tokyo.
As an Asian male Brandon Lee was representation of what was possible for Asian men in Hollywood. His death is my generation’s James Dean!
What I find interesting is there's actors that asian Americans and Americans forget are Asian or of Asian descent. Keanu Reeves calls to mind.
According to his biography Brandon LEE is Han Chinese, German, English and Swedish descent
Brandon may have passed during the making of this film but the movie itself heeps him alive, I believe that's why this movie hits different when you watch it. If it is life imatating art it's definitely art you can feel.
March 31, 1993 RIP Brandon Lee.
@MagicMagy THE SONG IN THIS IS CALLED "BURN" BY THE CURE.... AND YOU SHOULD DO THE WHOLE GOTH SCHEK LOOK EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE.
Eric and Shelly died, Eliza was taken from Brandon and James, the creator of the comic, also had the love of his life taken from him by a drunk driver, for which he created the comic as therapy.
This is such a tragic movie full of meaning, but also one of the best and most beautiful movies of the 90s
Buildings burn, people die, but real love ist forever
the movie is awesome! the most gothic movie ever. murder, love, revenge, rain, the night...
I was in 8th grade when this movie came out. IMO, it is the best soundtrack of any movie from the 90s. Still one of my all-time favorite movies.
Rest in peace Brandon lee
Yeah, but how could he know that they figured that out?. Besides, he needed a ''way out'' after he'd done them all. ;p
@@AleksPizana You free the bird once you killed everyone.
City of Angels is a Direct Sequel and a completion to Sarah's story arch. But everything after that ... Don't bother watching
This is by far the best soundtrack of the nineties. The Cure, STP, NIN, Rollins Band, Pantera, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult.🤘
There is NO new The Crow movie, just like there was NO Ghost Busters movie in 2016!!!
or the mummy 2017
Bad movies are no excuse for soul poisoning toxicity in response to them. You haven't appreciated this movie if you don't understand as Eric says that "nothing is trivial".
Or Halloween III
Chad Stahelski who later became the director of the John Wick movies was hired to finish the rest of the film as Brandon's character.
Brandon Lee is among the amazing talents taken from us too soon. May he rest in peace.
I love Ernie Hudson in almost everything he's in. His portrayal of the cop in The Crow was epic.
"Move and you're dead."
"I say, I'm dead... and I move."
A double enteandur as he's reversing his words, telling the officer he's gonna move, but also referencing that he's dead and moving!
So glad this film is still finding new generation
The scene Brandon was accidentally shot in was a reshoot of the Fun boy apartment scene. Ever since then, the actor who played Fun boy never touched a firearm again, he blamed him self for it and to a certain extent still does. The details of the event are available online for the curious, but it was a terrible oversight of potential harm on a movie set.
It wasn’t that scene. It was when Eric and Shelley were killed. In the final film, Tin Tin threw a knife when Eric (played by the body double) walked in. He was originally shot by Funboy, but that footage wasn’t used, for obvious reasons.
To a certain extent still does? Dude that actor died almost eight years ago.
@@Stubbies2003 Wow you're so informed, can I be like you when I grow up?
@@Stubbies2003 th-cam.com/video/p3MZ3aFrSFs/w-d-xo.html Just now watch before you snive commentary I wouldn't have Know Michel Massie Had passed, last thing I remember him in was Supernatural
I always liked his relationship with Sarah. In the comics it was different. I feel the movie made it so much better.
The soundtrack is one of the very few movie soundtracks - as far as the various artists type - that I love even to this day. Every track is great.
ironically enough like in the movie. (The accident in question isn't in the film, thank god)
There is a video on TH-cam where Micheal broke his silence for the first and only time about the accident.
You did a wonderful job, thank you for the excellent reaction and the discussion at the end ❤
Fun fact, Heath Ledger said he was inspired by Brandon Lee when playing the joker
The guy that played T Bird was the cleaner in John Wick
Given the joker comparisons you two made, I did enjoy Michael Wincott saying, "You put a smile on my face."
The Crow is what happens when Batman and the Joker have a child
*Every time they make a Crow sequel, IMO they’re dishonoring the memory of Brandon.*
I am writing this to help out magy and Laura and this video and this channel with the algorithm everyone check out their twitch channels as well 🥺🙏
"Because we don't know when we will die, we get to think of life as an inexhaustible well." 😞😞😞😞 R.I.P Brandon
This movie is a Gothic masterpiece. And you can't improve on perfection. It's so cool, emotional, and atmospheric.
Without Brandon’s crow there would not of been heath ledgers joker
i loved Bruce Lee......absolutely adored his movies and his style.
24:48 Michael Wincott voice in the movie. Badass . I can listen to his voice all day
T Bird dead scene is most powrefull scene in the movie, David Patrick Kelly action and Brandon Lee silence upon the great Clint Mansell soundtrack - masterpiece!
Unfortunately Brandon was already dead... So David played for both..
“People once believed that when someone dies, a crow carries their soul to the land of the dead. But sometimes, something so bad happens that a terrible sadness is carried with it and the soul can't rest. Then sometimes, just sometimes, the crow can bring that soul back to put the wrong things right.”
Another great Brandon Lee movie is "Rapid Fire" give it a watch 😊

I was OBSESSED with this movie when I was a kid. And the soundtrack is so good!
RIP Brandon, you were on your way to becoming a star.

the crow with brandon lee is the best
this film is a masterpiece, close to perfection, everything is brilliant, the soundtrack, I love the Cure's music, it's super effective and what can I say about Sarah's quotes at the end and beginning of the film
one of the comic albums was the crow: a macabre love story beyond life and death
The Crow acts as a soul bearer and guide as Eric seeks revenge for their unjust murders as well as what they did to Shelly.
Don't know if you two know this or not here back sometime in the 1990s and on the Syfy channel,
There was the crow: a stairway to heaven tv series. It was really good. If you get a chance to please check it out, I think you may like it. Also you could always watch the trailers for it too.
I still find it haunting that Brandon Lee would die on the set of a movie about dying and coming back for vengeance. RIP Brandon.
This movie is full of heart. It's hard to not feel a connection emotionally.
