@Kiranjit Kaur RentagobRana do you enjoy putting people down because you feel sad about yourself, no one has time for your homophobic comments and views, so do us all a favour and shut up. At the end of the day people have the right to love who they want and to live their truths, homophobia doesn't deserve to exist in our society
Here's one: The interview with Felicia Geiter sp? AND JOHN COUGAR MELLENCAMP ON CNN? WHEN SHE KEPT HAMMERING JOHN ON HIS SONG ' HURTS SO GOOD.' JOHN TOOK OFF HIS MIC AND WALKED WALKED OFF THE SET. BRILLIANT.
I really suspect that the only reason Caitlyn came into being is because a desperate old man wanted so badly to be relevant again. You picking up what I'm laying down here?
Saying that you’re not bisexual if you’re in a “straight” presenting relationship is like saying that single people are all automatically asexual. Nonsense. It’s based on attraction, not relationship status.
People don't get it. There are so many people with such a cage around their brains. They can't think further than to end of their fingertips it seems. So sad. Thankfully many of them just leave it be and stay neutral. But those are still not helping and still not enough. Sounds impossible, but... too many are anti instead of neutral....and the neutral would be such a help if they became ally.
The trouble is that the LGBT community wear their sexuality like a bill board. Emblazoning it all over themselves and shoving it in everyone's faces ALL the time. Straight people do not define themselves by their sexuality. It's a private thing. Why can't the alphabet community keep theirs private too. We are so weary of it.
@@kiranjitKaur61 1) Who the hell actually talks like that outside of the damn Bible? 2) You CHOSE to be offended. That is a CHOICE you made. You could just as easily have chosen to accept, or to simply move on and live your own life and let others live theirs. But no. You CHOSE to be a homophobic asshole. And a pretentious one, too, with your "indeed" and your "thyself." How about this? GET THEE HENCE.
Back in the 1920s a young Joan Crawford became best friends with a gay actor called William Haines. He refused to keep his sexuality secret and so the studios ruined his career. Crawford, by this point a star on the rise, stood by him and helped him become a very successful and sought after interior designer. Joan called William and his partner the happiest couple in Hollywood.
Tom Hardy going, "Are you asking me about *my* sexuality? Why?" is an amazing response. He's polite, while not playing any games and effectively avoiding the question.
I spare a little sympathy for the person asking the question, though. It appears that there was a potentially-well-meaning question there to begin with, but Hardy's bemusement (and the fact that he called it "inelegant") and then shutting down the revised version may not detract entirely from what was being attempted.
like seriously do all bi people have to be in a throuple or something, I'm single does that mean I'm asexual? it's such a dumb take on sexuality BUT look the dude is old as dirt so I guess the fact he isn't screaming about the devil is a net positive XD
I really love when they try to convince me that if I've been monogamous married to someone for 25 years, it's because my bisexuality was "a phase"... I still find people of both sexes attractive
As a man of Elohim, I find it ludicrous that this question even posed a threat. I also find that people are only threatened when they feel insecure or feel guilty about something. Truth. Shalom, L'hllel, Amen.
Same, though I'm a woman, not a man. Those guys seemed like real sexist jerks. I don't know if I could have tolerated them. She was very impressive. And unicorns are boss. I wish more people liked them. It's so stupid to make something mythological gendered. I've always liked dragons, Spider-man, the X-men, super heroes. Never made me a boy. A lot of people get stupid about supposedly girly things though. I can't wait for the rest of the culture to catch up.
I just find their comments were so stupid, like something a child would say that it makes you laugh more than get angry. At least that is what happend to me when I heard them. And I feel she was holding back laughter a little bit too.
Honestly, men bashing other men for liking "girly" things is silly, as much as it is silly to bash women for liking "manly" things. Hobbies and interests shouldn't be gendered, and who does it reeks of insecurity.
I have always respected him and now even more. I think with him it's just one of those things where an actor actually isn't doing anything to cause attention and the media has nothing better to do so they just like to talk crap or make up things. But like he said why defend yourself against something that isn't offensive.
Knowing next to nothing about his personal life, I immediately think of his friendship with Sara Gilbert from Roseanne, and how in his youth he probably witnessed people giving her a hard time about her sexuality. Maybe that experience played a big role in informing how he responds to such questions and intrusions.
that's different@@RS54321 and you know it so don't be an smat ass. Because they *want* you to know; they're letting you in. But people assuming someone's sexuality based on their mannerisms and looks; and than DEMANDING to know to ease thier curiosity *NOT* okay.
Love Melissa Etheridge's quote: "The rights of the minority should NEVER be voted on by the majority." Such truth. That's how prejudice and discrimination is made into systemic oppression. And becomes a cycle.
@@0LadyV0Yeah, she said that. I believe her and it makes me wonder how American came to be to extreme in anything that's not a majority. Like...if the founders of this country had it all straight, and wanted to end slavery etc....what when wrong? I am not American. And I am not proud of my own country, not even a little. But this country is sooo young! You would think it would be the most innovative and modern country of all. Free of labels and judgement to what is natural
It's idiotic... So you are for make different rights and laws for people because... What, their skin color ? Sexual orientation ? Perceived genre ? Don't you see THIS IS racism and will make things even worst ? Same rules for everyone, but with respect and understanding for everyone. Going "they and us" is already take a bad and slimy path. We are all freaking HUMANS.
@@lisastenzel5713 Sounds like you need a quick history lesson. Basically, in 1787 when Our Constitution was written, we were just trying to get established as a country apart from England. Not everything was settled that year. 80 years later we finally went to war to abolish slavery and become the united states that we are today. (simple explanation)
I've always liked Johnny Galecki, but that response.. "why defend yourself against something that's not offensive?" --amazing. I'm a fan all over again.
Plenty of reasons, those non-offensive being nutjobs for instance. Of all sorts. i would have said it's nuts to have a bunker, It still is, more and more reasonable, that is.. not anywhere near us for big events, but tornadoes and such..they're coming soon.
I really don’t understand how people STILL don’t get that your sexuality doesn’t just change from bisexual to straight or gay depending on who you’re with. You’re always bisexual.
They are confusing your overall sexuality with your specific sexual actions. I don't understand why they aren't able to grasp it either. Black and white thinking probably, which is a problem with many people's thinking.
To be fair a lot of gay /lesbian / queer people have used straight relationships to cover their identity, come out then are in only same sex partnerships afterwards. I can see how bi erasure and confusion can happen. But if someone is clearly saying "I'm bi" then just be "ok, cool" then move on. It's not that big a deal what someone's preferences are.
@@kittikats Considering that the question came from Larry King, who had been married and divorced close to a dozen times, he could have been asked if he's in a committed relationship. It's all relative.
Here's another with a Barbara Walters' interview, many years ago, with Richard Gere. She asked him if it bothered him that people supposed he was gay after he was in the play: BENT. His answer was simply, "no." As Barbara looked at him expecting him to say more, he looked at her and said: "Barbara, there's nothing wrong with being gay."
I usually had great respect for Barbara, but I can never forgive her for the way she went after Ricky Martin in that infamous interview in 2000. Being gay still wasn't socially acceptable and she knew that. She wanted to out him. Or rather she wanted him to out himself in her interview. Keeping in mind this was only 6 to 7 years after DADT was implemented if that gives you any indication of where we were. He made it clear he didn't want to talk about his sexuality but she pressed it. I understand that was her job as an interviewer but in private matters like that it was none of hers or the public's business.
@@nomizakBetween these examples and her sticking up for the Weinsteins of the world in that Corey Feldman interview on The View, I can proudly say I have ZERO respect for Barbara Walters at this point.
That was very tender! I'm glad Barbara Walters apologized later, but she has been pretty ruthless and some of her interviews. I recently saw the one she did with Dolly Parton, and it just made me so sad and angry.
@@joebloe4734 Generally speaking, yes, it is used more towards trans people as it's to do with an egg slowly cracking until they come out of their shell. All most people may know they're trans based on how they may act and what they're into. But people also don't pry and try to force that out of them.
Johnny Galecki dated Sara Gilbert and towards the end, She confided in him and stoodby her side and kept it a secret until she was ready. That is very admirable!
I respect Whoopi for apologizing to Johnny Galecki for asking that question. She literally said she should've read the question first. Not many interviewers would say that.
@mangos2888 right? No hesitation, no one had to make a big deal to make her feel like she needed to pretend she took it seriously. She realized it on her own and addressed it immediately.
@ReivecS Maybe she usually does and ran late that day? There are any number of reasons why. She could've blamed everyone under the sun but she didn't. She took it on the chin and apologized on the spot for her mistake.
@@nomizak na man. The view is pretty notorious for being a political show where no one preps their own thoughts. This is far from isolated, thus my comment.
I'm a bisexual man myself, and what pisses me off is people asking me am I more into men or women, or saying there's no such thing. In fact, I was telling a former friend about a guy I was into at the time, and she had the nerve to say, "You're totally gay." I mean, I like to joke with my friends when they say I'm the "gayest straight guy, and the straightest gay guy." At the end of the day, I am me, I love and accept myself for who I am, so why does it matter to you how I swing?
It always amazes me that some people don't seem to understand the idea of falling in love with a person. Like, would you ask a straight person why they choose the person they are currently with as opposed to their best friend? Wouldn't they just assume it's the person they love the most (ands that loved them back) that they choose as a partner?
Yes because some people love ancient boxes, you should fit in one out of two boxes prescribed by religion, norms or whatever so they cannot imagine person not fitting in one box... there are not enough education out there to explain this outdated thinking belongs to ancient times when people live in a caves and marvel at sight of fire...
Trust me not all of us heterosexual people are like that, but yes, we do have our good share of idiots. I would apologize on their behalf but I don't think they deserve it.
I just remembered once being in the mall with my daughter and we over heard someone saying, they should just pick a side because there was no such thing and I very loudly said to my daughter. "I think they're just jealous because they have more options than we do." Of course, the we part was for me because my daughter is A sexual.
Years ago I made a post with a picture of Poison Ivy kissing Harley Quinn and made a comment saying I'm Ivy looking for her Harley. A guy told me I was just "confused." So I made a second post coming out officially as bisexual and made sure to include that I definitely was not confused about how I feel or who I'm attracted to, just confused as to why it took me so long to open up about it.
@@silvermainecoons3269 well I’m pretty sure the word bruh is sometimes used as a neutral term. It could mean anything. Also, I don’t like Ivy or Harley, I find them annoying. That last thing is just an comic book character opinion though, so don’t take that into consideration.
As an openly gay man, why the hell does someone else’s sexuality or what they choose to do with another CONSENTING adult matter so damn much to straight people? I can’t wrap my head around that. There would be less problems in the world if people chose kindness and love instead of hate and/or bigotry. This video made me happy. The responses from these celebrities that I credit for giving me the strength to be who i am, makes me feel so warm inside. I understand if the questions are coming from a point of curiosity and actually TRYING to understand, but when those questions are coming from a hateful place, thats where i get confused.
With a lot of these inteviews, I honestly believe they were coming from a place of "shock value" or "gotcha" journalism. These interviews are the predecessors of "click-bait" and the garbage we see on the news now days. Shit is straight up disgusting, but I'm glad there are some celebrities out there willing to shut them down. We'll see if it continues...
I'm a straight man and I was thinking the same as you. Just try to have kindness and love towards your fellow people and let them love eachother. It's really not that hard. I was also very happy after seing this video. Stay golden. ✌️🌈
The attitude you describe has been part of our "human nature" for most of our existence on our world, and then add the misguided teaching of a certain Church, and we get questions like these posed and shot down by the celebrities. Granted, if the Church hadn't been the way it was, we probably wouldn't have the issues we're having today. They, in the early days (who incidentally had some of the most perverted and despicable characters in leadership roles) were the ones who began demonizing LGBTQIA+ people and actually forced other cultures to follow their lead on this and other issues. In the years since, it's just snowballed and there was even a time that even some Hetero people were questioned on their private practices.
I had a crush on a former coworker and really wanted to find out about his sexuality. I felt we had such a great rapport, but I didn't know how to feel not knowing if he's interested or not. Still, I never asked. Eventually, he left our company. We went out for coffee and he told me that he's gay, and he'd rather not everyone knows since he's still closeted. We remain good friends today. I am learning so much about the LGBTQ community because of him. It's a valuable relationship in my life.
When I was a teenager and I found out I was gay, I didn't care much about lgbt rights, but I became a law student and now I'm a full-time lawyer, I do care much about these rights, we must be heard and respected!
I will respect you as a person and I couldn't care less about your sexuality. Stop forcing it into my face. Btw, my relationship status isn't your business either. I like what Ricky Martin said about the egg. An egg forcibly cracked open produces nothing but death, but an egg that opens on its own accord creates a beautiful life (I’m paraphrasing). I think it’s a great analogy for many aspects of a persons life. Forcing someone to reveal their true self can be devastating, whatever that truth may be.

I have massive respect for people who stood up for our community in the 70s, 80s 90s. People like Madonna, David Bowie, and especially Judy Garland because at least, nowadays you have an army of celebrities and fans coming to your defense and standing up together with you but back in the days they were alone. They had balls of steel. Huge props to people like Madonna for contributing to gay acceptance in hollywood. What she did at her time was truly revolutionary.
I find Bowie incredibly inspiring. It was difficult enough for gay women to come out back then but at least the feminist movement had provided a little bit of sheler. For a man to come out back then, especially a male celebrity was an incredibly brave thing to do. The fact that he did so with zero fear and such style was amazing. Although not directly part of it, he was such an important figure in the early Gay Liberation movement and remained a staunch ally all his life. The cover of his Man Who Sold the World album, showing Bowie with long hair and a dress, reclining on a chaise long, was only a couple of years after the decriminalisation of homosexuality. Hunky Dory's album cover was even more androgynous and included songs like Queen Bitch and Oh You Pretty Things. Then of course there was Ziggy Stardust. It's easy nowadays to forget just how controversial, outrageous and scandalous this was at that time. Homosexuality wasn't something that a minority were anti. It was deeply engrained in the whole of society and the bigotry and hatred was on another level. The notion of equal rights was a distant fantasy... and yet there was David, happily not giving a fuck, very publicly! :)
Although it doesn’t quite fit the list, Robin Williams protecting Nathan Lane from being outed on Oprah’s show always stands out to me. What a class act and model of friendship.

I am a heterosexual male from the midwest. Not married only because neither me or my bisexual partner believe in marriage anymore. My respect and admiration and well wishes to all in the LGBTQ community!!! Love is the only solution!!!
heterosexuality is a 19th century invention that was used to explain how straight people are different from what we all just call queerness today. the word queer has a longer usage in the english language than the word normal, which comes from maths. straight was originally appropriated from the trans community as a word that was originally used derisively, in-community, towards people who went back in the closet to get family support.
"if you have an egg and you open it up from the outside, only death comes out. But if you let it have its time, life comes out." That went so fucking hard
About a million years ago, Maury Povich had a trans woman on his show and remarked that she was, in so many words, one of the "better" looking ones he'd seen. She told him that the statement was "unkind," pointing out that there is a variety of looks among all people, and saying that about her denigrated others.
She was quite right. Imagine saying that about women in general! "Well, you're definitely one of the better looking women I've had on as a guest." Jesus, was that meant to be an awkward attempt at flirting?
But was he wrong? Looking at the mess on TikTok I'd say no he wasn't. How you walking around with a beard and deep voice and bulge talking about you're a woman? That's a mess right there and there are too many of those types.
Every time Chris Evans is outspoken and stands on the right side so openly, I am reminded of just how brilliant Marvel's casting of him as Captain American in 2010 (I think that's when he was cast and started shooting "The First Avenger") truly was. If Steve Rogers could pick one person to play Steve Rogers, I feel like Evans would have been one of his top picks.
His brother is gay so he has a personal connection to the issue. That shouldn't be the only factor, but he probably has been asked a similar question for years.
@@AnthonyJMurph I have a feeling the answer would have been similar regardless of what his brother's sexuality was. I think it's apparent that his brother colors his stance, just like having gay and transgender friends colors my stance and how much I will sound off at bigoted family members at functions (family may be blood, but I've chosen my friends...and I've come to realize in my middle age that the family you choose should be more important to you than most of your blood relations). But I have been outspoken that I don't think anyone's sexuality or gender should give anyone else one iota of issue since I was a teenager. If you really believe in "live and let live" then that means you at least tolerate things you find distasteful, regardless of whatever some charlatan tells you as he tries to rip 10% of your gross income away from you a week every Sunday. Sadly most "Christians" apparently don't understand that, or need to actually read their New Testament every so often.
@@AnthonyJMurph oh, I agree. I'm just saying most of us at the age of 9 (that weren't submerged in the toxic bath of Southern Baptist bible school until our ability to think freely was drowned) understood that hating someone for what was silly nonsense. [By saying "what", I in no way intend to demean anyone, but using what as a way of comparing immutable traits of a person, like sexuality, gender, race, ethnicity, etc.] Who you are (how you think, how you act) matters far more, and that is something you can change and that will change as you have new experiences, meet new people and see new things. Who you are should change and broaden as you grow older. Why so many people cloister themselves and hate or fear those who are different simply because they don't look the same, have the same language, or "deviate" from the "natural order", is a question that I doubt I will ever be given a satisfactory answer for. Because it's unsatisfactory to hate or fear because you don't understand something. In that case, you should endeavor to understand, and at least tolerate it if understanding still eludes you.

Yep. I haven’t come out to anyone except my best friend as bisexual because I’ve been primarily in straight relationships. My family wouldn’t be able to understand the nuances of being bisexual.
I'm outed to my friends and family and they took it well, but I struggled with the LGBTQ+ community a lot. I've never been with a girl and have a boyfriend. I'm often labled as " a hetero who wants attantion". It's so annoying.
@@yoongiswndrlnd Same. The issue that I experienced though is that some queer women see it as a bad sign if you're not outed (to your family). @@redelfshotthefood8213 It is a product of it's time. You have to understand how much progress has happened with our community. So when Jake and Heath, two world-star actors, portrayed such a bittersweet film, it was groundbreaking.
@@colt9836 The movie ending was not a "product of it's time" in any way, that statement is diminishing, as if the director would make a different film today because we live in a different time. The film could be made today, or a hundred years from now and be identical because it was a period piece, and further was based upon a short story originally published in 1993. The story is set in 1963 which was a much, much more dangerous period for gay men to exist. Source: I've lived all of those years. The movie was still groundbreaking, but such a film would never have seen widespread release or support from any studio whatsoever if it was even attempted to be made in 1963. The Anna Paquin one always reminds me of when one of my work teams found out I was pan. A coworker blurted out, "But you're married!" "Yes?" "TO A MAN." "Yes? I still find women hot, I'm just monogamous." The surprised Pikachu face was priceless.
Bisexual/pansexual people remember that you do not owe the world or society a homosexual relationship. Your sexuality is completely valid regardless of who you are with.

Prying into young stars lives makes great copy. Whole magazines were sold at the time full of gossip about all the young stars, male and female. Teen Beat comes to mind. But there were at least two others. And The National Enquirer.

Not really a comment on homophobic interviewers, but Dan Levy's comment "I have no patience for homophobia" in response to how he wrote Patrick and David's story in Schitt's Creek always stands out to me

She’s saying to him completely new things. He might not be able to process them. And... being old... might forget recent information, overnight. I worked with engineers as old as 81. They were great on the technical material. But had recurring troubles with tech. And. Our President at one point only trusted his Executive Assistant. If she backed us up, he’d go along with what we said. Larry is old. He might’ve like my old, now deceased, ex-President.
Jodie's little eyebrow lift and smirk at the "ideal boyfriend" smirk is such perfect emoting. She could not convey the thought "you really dont want/couldnt handle these words spoken" more perfectly without words.
I think it's incredibly pedo for an adult over a certain age (I'll give exception to young 20's, as they're still so young themselves) to ask a child about their dating life. Grossidy gross gross.
As a bisexual, I get annoyed when people say “oh you’re gay now” or “oh you’re straight now” because of who a bisexual is dating. It’s like this. A werewolf isn’t a wolf when in wolf form and a human when they aren’t transformed, they are always werewolves, no matter what form they are in. Bisexuality is kind of like that, just it’s way cooler that being a wolf.
How Barbara Walters maintained stardom is beyond me. Most of her interviews I have seen have been of bullying tactics. She needed to be called out and stop being hailed as this great journalist. Her interview with Corey Feldman sealed any respect I ever had for her.
She was an amazing journalist who was able to help crack open hypocrisy and ill intent and lay it bare for the public to see. Unfortunately, as she spent increasingly more of her time on “puff piece” celebrity & “human interest” pieces, for which her instincts and her learned skills were very ill-suited and, often, counterproductive. The skills you need to get Tom Cruise to relax on camera and express his true emotions and thoughts are very much not the skills you would use to get the executive of a cigarette company to admit that their product is harmful when used as intended. I’m sure it provided her with a very good income, but her transition from journalism into the personality interviewer role has significantly damaged her legacy, in my opinion.
Journalists ferret out the truth. Usually out of people that don’t want to share it... about controversial, and this, interesting subjects. I was once interviewed by a radio reporter and he was trying to get me to say outlandish things. I’m not a nutbar, so I said, “of course not!”. I didn’t make it onto the radio for that segment.
She was a pioneer in her field. Very ambitious, and sometimes her need to be hard-edged caused her to overstep. I remember watching an interview she did with Doris Day, where she asked Day to respond to a listing of her costars with a word about how she felt about them. She got to Ronald Reagan, and Day said "a nice man." Well, Walters was incredulous: "C'mon!" She wanted to have some sensational headline grabbing quote about her costars. I don't really blame Walters for feeling like she had to go that route, because journalism can be a very competitive business, but she could go a little overboard. I respect her, though, for what she accomplished as a woman in a tough business.
I recall when she and Gene Shallit were interviewing Burt Reynolds, and she asked a question on her clipboard that Gene wasn’t comfortable asking. “Burt, everyone knows that you have been in a relationship with Dinah Shore for quite some time now; you must love her very much. Why don’t you marry her?” His response: “Well that’s a stupid question. Why don’t you get a get a divorce?”. I swear she bit her lip, and said, “Well that’s fair, why don’t we move on?” ( My mother couldn’t stop laughing …..)
It’s too bad this list doesn’t include people like Elizabeth Taylor, who was a major advocate and ally long before it became fashionable. She’s right up there with Judy Garland, Liza Minnelli and so many other icons that were allies in favor of respecting diversity and people’s dignity above all else.
I'm sorry but "fashionable," seriously. I was with you until you mentioned fashionable as if it's something they wear and next season being allies will go out of style. I know you meant no harm but you need to do what Whoopi Goldberg said and that's read through things first.

Many times those are the exact qualities that make a great interviewer... even ignorance,, willfully ignoring the sensitivity of certain topics and questions, can be a benefit to successful interviewing.

(I live in a Bible Belt county in the South) He started saying I was going to hell, what I was doing was wrong, ect ect. I just laughed and told him he wasn't the first person to say that. When he asked me why I didn't decide to "end this phase" I laughed again. I told him, "Well when are you gonna listen to what your mama always told you and mind your own business? What I'm doing isn't hurting anybody. You're just mad that I'm not into old men like you." I got to watch his stunned and angry face in silence before I paid for my items and left the store. Sounds like you were in monogamous relationship, regardless of sexual preference. Otherwise known as a healthy relationship. Just because someone is attracted to the same sex doesn't mean they expect you to let them step out as long as it's with someone of the same sex. I've been married to a bi woman for 23 years and she's never expected me to be okay with her messing around with other women. Just because someone is bi doesn't mean they expect their partner to be okay with them cheating on them, even if it's with someone of the same sex.

@SWLinPHX until your wife leaves you for another woman LMAO monogamy in monogamy, polyamary is polyamary your sexual orientation and gender are independent factors
For some reason, at my Junior High in the mid 80s, sexuality became a big deal, with everyone feeling they had the right to ask you about it. Many times I was asked if I was gay, and I simply responded, "Don't worry, you're not my type," whether the asker was male or female. Younger generations are getting called snowflakes simply because they won't put up with this kind of BS: asking personal questions of people you aren't close to is NOT OK. Don't ask gender, sexuality, are you pregnant, do you have kids, how are you disabled, etc. MIND YA OWN BUSINESS and just so kindness and respect to EVERYONE.
Truth is, people can't help but speculate about someone's sexuality. Even as a straight man, I've had people question my sexuality. I haven't had a girlfriend in years. I'm also still a virgin. One guy I worked with would try and hook me up with women I wasn't interested in. When I said I wasn't interested, he would accuss me of being gay. He actually said it in a malicious manner. It really is simple: Don't be so damn nosey when it comes to people's sexual preferences. They don't owe you an explanation in that regard. If they wanna talk about it, they will. If they don't, they don't have to.
this applies to trans individuals, but i think the basic principle applies: are they trans? are you willing to grab them to find out? if no, then it doesn't matter. if yes, then you're a bigger problem than they are. to modify it: are they gay? are you willing to invade their privacy to see who they choose to sleep with? if no, then it doesn't matter. if yes, we should be calling the cops on you.
I was single for a long time before finally meeting my husband and I am shy so a lot of people thought I was a lesbian. I never really paid much attention to what other people thought though.
When I was much younger and still looked great I worked in a busy bar. I'm also a naturally smiley and friendly person. Of course I'd get hit on a lot. I have lost count the number of times men who came on to me and I (tried to kindly) rebuffed would either hiss at me or loudly shout "Lesbian" or "Gay b*****", and the likes. Sometimes, and bless those dudes, other men in the bar would tell them off. I didn't need them too, but I thought it was kind of them.
3:08 the biggest error here comes from not understanding the fact that sexual or romantic orientation is not something that you practice but rather something that you ARE. You don't "practice" bisexuality you just are bi
It is like saying that "yOu MuSt" be with both/multiple people from both genders to be happy Which is an insanely nonsense and straight up disgusting though to have

I'm a bi and was married to a guy and everyone just acted like I was suddenly straight. When I would comment on a beautiful woman I would have people literally say but you married a guy you are straight. Just like when I was with my ex gf before my husband people acted like I was just a lesbian. Bi people are often treated like we can only exist when single

As an openly gay man, why the hell does someone else’s sexuality or what they choose to do with another CONSENTING adult matter so damn much to straight people? I can’t wrap my head around that. Agreed. People (especially conservatives) need to just mind their own business. Worry about yourself.

Madonna didn't do anything before 1990. A lot of people were doing things for the LGBTQ long before her.

@@AnthonyJMurph oh, I agree.

How Barbara Walters maintained stardom is beyond me. Most of her interviews I have seen have been of bullying tactics. She needed to be called out and stop being hailed as this great journalist. Her interview with Corey Feldman sealed any respect I ever had for her.
She was incredibly rude to Dolly Parton and her “poor upbringing”.
“If you can’t understand that, just don’t go see the movie.”…simple but exceptional advice!
It’s too bad this list doesn’t include people like Elizabeth Taylor, who was a major advocate and ally long before it became fashionable. She’s right up there with Judy Garland, Liza Minnelli and so many other icons that were allies in favor of respecting diversity and people’s dignity above all else.
YES!!!!!!!!
I'm sorry but "fashionable," seriously. I was with you until you mentioned fashionable as if it's something they wear and next season being allies will go out of style. I know you meant no harm but you need to do what Whoopi Goldberg said and that's read through things first.
@@ch1ckmom217 I apologize if my choice of words was not the best. English is not my native tongue. What word would you suggest I use instead? I’m just trying to highlight the people that were “pioneers” in the defense of diversity and equal rights for all.

I really don’t understand why Barbara Walter’s was ever considered a great interviewer. She has such an extensive history of being invasive, insensitive, ignorant, and just straight up rude.
I completely agree with you. Her reputation was based in sensationalism. Terrible interviewer.
[nods] the whole "even the journalist" thing made me go, Excuse Me? Uh, No. maybe once upon a time back when she was starting out, she could have worn that title. but in This age, No.
she was an invasive, stereotypical, Karen-esque, white woman with delusions of grandeur.
Many times those are the exact qualities that make a great interviewer... even ignorance,, willfully ignoring the sensitivity of certain topics and questions, can be a benefit to successful interviewing.
That's what the media wants. She digs in and gets results. She's good at being invasive and getting a response.
She's doing it for the networks.
Back then you’re great if you can get a scoop and dig up dirt by asking “hard hitting questions.”
Ricky Martin's egg analogy was brilliant. Force an egg to open from the outside, death comes out. Allow it to open (on their own) from the inside, life comes. I've never heard that before.
I feel like nobody really talks about how pushy of an interviewer Barbara Walters actually was…
Yeah she totally was pushy
She wasn't pushy. She was a bully. Her interview with Cory Feldman is disgraceful.
It's funny because she was known for asking softball questions and kissed the rear end of powerful people, like when she asked the dictator of Cuba, "if you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be?"
Walters has asked some horrendous questions.
A lot of hosts are. Oprah can do no wrong for a lot of people and while I don't dislike her, I couldn't stand watching her interviews because she would interrupt her guests b4 they could finish answering her question.
That question to Ariana Grande is ridiculous. Her answer was perfect about thinking its all girls have to choose between
Next to the fact that they probably don't ask guys an equally sexist answer...But yes, her reply was also spot-on.
"Okay, but if you had to choose between Barbie dolls, makeup, or crying in a strong man's arms, which would you do while PMS'ing boobily around?"
She was still so polite about it. I woulda just blinked confused befofe blurting out 'are you stupid?'
You'd think a unicorn would be more "macho" to these guys than a horse. It's a horse with a weapon!
To think that was a sexist question LOL!
You know how kids will say "ew" when they see their parents kiss in front of them? I've started reacting like the parents in those situations when someone says something rude or inappropriate about lgbtq+ topics or my own gender identity/sexuality. (I am a trans man (very early on T so I don't pass well) and am also pansexual)
Royally pissed one guy off because he saw my pride pin I had clipped to my beanie that day and he started making comments. It was glorious. 😂
Lol i like your comeback to him after he said that to you! People have said that to me in the past (I am a gay man) when they would say that I am going to hell I would always tell them "save me a seat ill see you there" lmao 🤣
After reading this, three words come to mind. "Like a boss". Well played, man.
"You're going to Hell!" - Them
"Great! See you there! Oh, I won't save you a seat at the cool kids table, not with THAT attitude." - Me
Never in my life have I seen that shade of purple outside a grape or a plum.
I wish you well on your transition. I hope you get the support you need. Always remember you are best placed to know whether you are male, female, or something else. Negative comments from other people reveal something about them and nothing about you.
I get that grossed out feeling when two men or two women kiss, or when the left pushes to murder babies in the womb, or when they push to have body parts cut of children. You know, actual disgusting things.
I know that it should be a given that celebrities are supportive, but some of these people while I was watching I was like "oh, they support me??" and I genuinely almost cried, this made my day so much better

I dated a girl who was bisexual. She was attracted to feminine women and masculine men. Anything in between was a no go. Anyways, while she was with me she was all for me. She never asked if she could mess with a woman or anything related. Sadly, we broke up due to covid keeping us separated. Different states/us territory. We couldn't see each for two years
Thyself wouldst be better off without such a freak, rather.
@@Se7enDuece very true. I can't lie and say it wasn't confusing at first, because it was lol. But as time went on, I realized that we all have our preferences, but we find what we need. Honestly, this video would’ve been much better if we could hear more of the actual interviews & a lot less of the voiceover about the interviews.
If they don't, they don't have to.
this applies to trans individuals, but i think the basic principle applies:
are they trans?
are you willing to grab them to find out? if no, then it doesn't matter. if yes, then you're a bigger problem than they are.
to modify it:
are they gay?
are you willing to invade their privacy to see who they choose to sleep with? if no, then it doesn't matter. if yes, we should be calling the cops on you.

The LGBTQ+ community are a bunch of mooks😒
Tom Hardy more or less said "I'm at work, why the personal questions?"
You know it was staged the show is known to staged and rehersed.
Because in the movie he was playing a gay character. The initial question wasn't even weather he was gay or not, just if he thought it was hard for celebrities to discuss their sexualities (yk, like the character that tom hardy was playing in that movie)
Let’s not forget the time Tom Hardy responded to the question if he has had gay sex with, “Of course, I’m a fucking actor!” That dude is sex on two legs AND all class.
