Great reaction. Voiceplay is independent, so not signed to a label. They do not block reaction videos. VP pretty much does everything from arranging to video production. They are my favorite group. I'm sure you'll get others to fill out other details about VP. Subscribed to your channel.

This specific song is very character voice driven, they have a some of them. This one is also heavily featuring Geoff, their bass, which is rare. So it's not a video where you get to really hear what VoicePlay really can sound like. But, it gives you an idea of their theatrics, Geoff's range and their voice work. For a video with more of their true voices, try out Nothing Else Matters, Halo theme, True Colors, Creep, Valhalla Calling, Hoist the Colours....
@@huldradraco I'm sorry, Huldra! I mean it affectionately! I'll stop! It's just that you're kinda like a fan club President of Voiceplay on TH-cam! My bad!
You mentioned "the guy with the beard" having a raspy voice - that's Earl Elkins Jr., a founding member of VoicePlay who left the group in 2020 for undisclosed personal reasons. Normally he sings as a high tenor, so this voice was VERY different for people used to hearing him. But speaking of people with different voices - the bald guy in the red outfit is Eli (rhymes with "jelly") Jacobson, and he ALSO provided the voice of Santa Claus! And the "low bass in the background" is the same as the low bass in the foreground - Geoff Castellucci, who sang the lead in this, multi-tracked his voice singing the bass harmony while he sang the lead and showed off a good part of his range while doing it. At the end, he goes from B4 to E1 (subharmonic) - so about 3.5 octaves in less than 10 seconds.
VoicePlay is in a class by themselves. You can't put them in a box as to genre, they do it all: Disney, Broadway, rock (yes, Metallica!), pop or ballads. They have no limits!
They don't call em the theatre kids of Acapella for nothin! 😂 You should check out Valhalla Calling. It's pretty epic and Geoff hits and holds a B0 for like 15 seconds. ❤
Welcome to the VoicePlay rabbit hole! They’re definitely the theater kids of the acapella world - really high production value for being an independent group. Hope you find time to watch more of them soon!
If you're a 'Nightmare Before Christmas' fan, besides this and "This is Halloween", they've also done covers of "Kidnap the Sandy Claws" and "What's This?" And Geoff (pronouned Jeff) Castellucci, the bass of the group, who played Oogie Boogie in this one, did "Jack's Lament" for his Halloween video last year, and it is phenomenal! He has his own solo channel, that is NOT accapella, but he does the arranging, filming and editing all by himself. The thing that's hard to wrap your mind around when you first start exploring VoicePlay is that there have been lots of changes in lineup, so you don't see the same people all the time. The exception is Geoff, Layne the beatboxer (playing 'Zero' here) and Eli (pronounced like "Ellie" not EEE-lie, it's short for Eliezar), the bald tenor, these three will be the constants in the group. Earl (the large guy with the high voice and able to do the 'raspy' voice) left in 2020 and J None (playing the other 'bad guy helper to Ooogie Boogie) left that year also to join the US Navy, but often comes back to guest star with them. The simply amazing Cesar de la Rosa joined after J None left, and other than that, you usually see a fifth person guessting and given credit as the 'featured' performer.
VP has the widest range of the a capella groups. There is not a genre they don't cover. They are totally independent, do their own arrangements and videos and have so much talent it's almost unfair. Fabulous people too. Hope you check out more of them! 🌹🕊
This showcases their theatrically. This is unusual and that they use character voices pretty much and that Geoff was the featured singer. Usually they’re more of an ensemble group where they trade off the leads.
Voiceplay is a fantastic group. They all performed at theme parks in Orlando FL where they are located. This is an older video as a couple of the members are no longer with them. The guy with the beard is Earl Elkins Jr. He left in 2020 for personal reasons. The black guy is J None. He left in 2021 to sing with the us Navy chorus. He returns when he can to sing with them. Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci - bass, arrangements, solo channel. Layne Stein - beatboxer, baritone, arrangements. Eli (e lie) Jacobson - tenor, rock tenor, lighting, arrangements, Santa is Geoff's brother in law. Santa's voice is Eli. J None, Earl and Eli are Oogie Boogie's minions. Cesar De La Rosa replaced J None as baritone but he's also tenor and can go super high. Voiceplay are an independent group. They do everything themselves from concept to TH-cam and more. Except intricate makeup, cameras and audio mixing. Their new video is premiering today, the 28th at 10:30am est..... Classical Chaos. And that it is. They brought back their Characters from their video "In The Hall of The Mountain King". Geoff Castellucci has his own channel where he sings solo with instruments. He clones himself 3-4 times for harmonies. Each with their own name, personality and vocal range (tenor, baritone, bass). And yes. He sings them all. His latest video is "Unshaken". He brought back the 4 ghost riders from his "Ghost Riders In The Sky" video before they died. Both Voiceplay and Geoff have many many videos to choose from. And none will disappoint.
@@YoSunnyP Since they're designed a quartet plus a beatboxer, and they still haven't replaced Earl with a new fifth permanent member, every vid they've done since 2020 has at least one guest artist. So you'll have a lot of variety to watch.
Geoff Castelluci has a 5 octave range from a B0 (subharmonic) to an A5#. He hits all 5 octaves in the video (although not all those particular notes) at the end of the video...he starts high and goes down each octave. You're welcome. Oh, and he has his own channel on TH-cam as well. You'll love his stuff. And again, no copyright on his stuff either.
This was, if I remember correctly, the first video I watched of this group and fell madly in love with them. They're insanely talented and I have a huge crush on the bass. Greetings from another VP Patreon - and thank you for approaching VP (and perhaps Geoff's solo works, too😉?)! Generally, you will find two categories of covers, VP does. The first one are the more "theatrical" or performing/acting/comedic ones (examples are their Halloween songs or most of the themed/movie songs) and the others are tho more "musically serious" ones (like PTX do theirs. Examples here are "Nothing Else Matters", "In the Air tonight" or "Creep" and many more). But one thing do all have in common: Every time there will be unexpected things to hear or to be seen. So even knowing the original song, be surprised and enjoy VP's versions or interpretations of well-known songs!🤩👌
Just FYI. Pentatonix and Home Free actually have recording labels producing their videos. VP does it all themselves with just a couple of people helping. Check the credits on all their videos.
YOU DID IT!!! Oh, thank you SO MUCH! You're in for a lot of fun. These guys are the "Theater Kids" of acappella! You're going to LOVE THEM! And you don't even need to cover their videos, Voiceplay is totally copyright free! If you'd like, I can post some "rules" (suggestions, really) for VP, tips to make your viewing of them optimal. I've put them together as a dedicated "Voiceplaya!" That's what their fans are called. Also, they've been around a long time, so you'll see different lineups as some members come and go. Currently there are four core members. Would you like a little info on them? *Thank you so much for viewing them!* I was literally just watching their newest release that came out today! And your eyes will be in awe at the costumes, and makeup, and sets and...did I mention I like this group? 💙💙💙💙💙 Oh, and they do all the work themselves, from arrangements to lighting. (They live up to the hype! Trust me! 😉)
You have a huge choice of songs to choose from now. Hoist the Colours, The Dragonborn Comes and Valhalla Calling would be a good starting point. Then Nothing Else Matters, Tennessee Whiskey. You can't go wrong with a VoicePlay or Geoff Castelluci piece of art.
VoicePlay, aka the Theater Kids of A Cappella... I believe all of the members (and most of their featured artists) have worked at Disney/Universal theme parks as performers, so it just seems hardwired into their DNA to really go all out with their costumes, makeup and acting in their videos. Even in their oldest videos, when they had much less to work with, they still managed to pull off some incredible performances that just draw you in :)
So, one of my favorite things about this is that when you are watching their videos, you can just... feel how much fun they're having at every moment. They are wonderfully silly in many ways, but they never let that silliness take away from the raw quality of the songs. It's been... actually a rather long time since they've had a full, permanent roster, but they always get the absolute best performances out of their guest singers, whoever they are. I've honestly kind of fallen out of love with Pentatonix because they just come across as so serious that it hurts in their videos, and while the music is still outstanding, that's just not the energy that I'm after, you know? Also, though, you need to look into their bass singer, Geoff Castellucci's solo channel. He doesn't do acapella on his channel, but he does play multiple parts within his songs, and he does amazing work... especially as a five-octave vocalist!
In answer to your question of who was doing the bass, that was Geoff, the man playing oogie boogie. He is amazing! They all have their crazy vocal moments in different songs. Geoff also has his own channel of stuff as well. I would recommend checking out in the hall of the mountain king. The video and cover they did for it is epic!
This is a great "Gateway" video for the Voiceplay Rabbit Hole! Also, their Bass, Geoff Castellucci has his own solo channel, which is amazing. All male voices on those videos are him, as are all the male characters.💙
Welcome to Voiceplay. Hopefully you will be jumping further down this rabbit hole, so I have subscribed in anticipation of more Voiceplay and subsequently Geoff Castellucci who has his own low bass singer channel ❤

If you enjoy creative videos along with amazing singing you will really love these guys! I subscribed in hopes to see you react to more of them! You can just pick anything from their page that interests you and go for it, you can’t go wrong! 😅

I really enjoyed your reaction- thanks! I am now a new subscriber looking forward to more Voice Play reactions. I would recommend "Valhalla Calling" or "Hoist The Colors" next but pick anything- you will not be disappointed.
Note Geoff (pronounce like 'Jeff') has his own chanel. His hobbit covers are amazing. I suggest over misty mountains cold. Mind you all his work is amazing, but that one and 15 tons are great demonstations of what a trully talented and practiced Bass can do (he gets well bello traditional bass range with it sounding any less rich/full).
Welcome in the VP Rabbit Hole. Thanks for reacting to "Oogie Boogie´s Song". I agree it is so much fun to watch. I hope to see more VP on your channel and did subsrcibe.🌻
As a few folks here already said, the low voice is the lead. Now, I don't know if it's the case with you, but the first time I listened to Oogie Boogie, I honestly missed the very last note, it's that low... and unexpected given how high he climbed just a few words before - guy's got an incedible range.
I've watched a lot of your PTX videos and love that you're dipping your toes into the Voiceplay pool! These guys are awesome and easily one of my favorite acapella groups next to PTX! You've got a rabbit hole in these guys. Recommend 'Drunken Sailors', 'Hoist The Colors', 'Hellfire', 'Valhalla Calling,' and 'My Mother Told Me', they've also got a lot of Disney movie medley's that are awesome as well, and Geoff Castelucci is the low bass you're hearing. He has one HELL of a range! Check out his cover of 'Jack's Lament' from Nightmare on Halloween
Honestly, one of the only reactions of this song I've seen where the reaction was more focused on J, Eli, and Earl than on Geoff who ranges from Baritone1/Tenor2 belting, down to Bass2 deep rumbles
The low bassline in the background is multi-tracked by the guy singing the lead... Geoff Castellucci. He is a natural bass, but also has a 5 octave vocal range that extends 1.5 octaves deeper than a typical bass and 1/2 an octave higher than a tenor.
Welcome to the VP rabbit hole! There is so so so so ............much for you to react to! Oh and Geoff(the bass) does solo work as well. Also VP is independent so you don't have to block out their videos. They don't copyright strike. This is a musical theater type piece and a lot of the voices are character voices. Check out Nothing Else Matters, Black Hole Sun, Valhalla Calling to name a few
Welcome to the wonderful world of VoicePlay. I have subscribed to see more VoicePlay reactions. Geoff Castellucci is the bass singer, and he also has his own channel. For VoicePlay, I would recommend: "Valhalla Calling'", "Hoist The Colors", "Drunken Sailor", "Dragonborn Comes", "Black Hole Sun", "Nothing Else Matters", "Dream On", "Seven Nation Army", "Hellfire", "Creep", "In the Hall of the Mountain King" and their most recent release is "Classical Chaos". For Geoff Castellucci, I would recommend: "Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold", "I See Fire", "Unshaken", "Jack's Lament", "16 Tons", "You Don't Mess Around with Jim" and "Ain't No Sunshine". Enjoy the rabbit hole.
I think you 've chose a good video to show you the crazy range of their basse, Geoff Castellucci, pronounced Jeff by the way, (Oogie Boogie). They are a really good A Cappella group, in my opinion.
#TheatreKidsOfACapella. No need to block their videos as they are totally independent. They do everything themselves. Arrangement, filming, directing, editing, lighting and costumes. Bass is Geoff Castellucci who also has his own channel and does low bass covers. 😊❤❤. They do everything from Metallica to Disney. Try Valhalla Calling next.
I'm not sure which of the Voiceplay songs to recommend you. Because the best changes every day. Yesterday it was "In the air tonight", today I feel like "Warriors", tomorrow it might be "We don't talk about Bruno" or "Valhalla calling".
Welcome to the Voiceplay Rabbit Hole. This songs really shows off their theatrical side and a little of Geoff's (Jeff's) range 😂🤣🤣 Giving them the nickname The Theater Kids of Accapella. They do everything themselves so they are able to push boundaries and are very friendly to reactors. As far as recommendations I say choose your favorite Genre and see what they have. A few of my favorites are Queen in 5 Minutes Boy Bands in 5 Minutes Dragon Born Comes Sleeping in the Cold Below Creep Hoist the Colours Daddy Sang Bass In the Hall of the Mountain King (And many many more) They are releasing a sequel to In the Hall of the Mountain King tomorrow so Yea new Song (Yes, I know it's been on their patreon for a while). Enjoy the trip and if you want to expand the Rabbit Hole check out Geoff's Solo Channel and PattyCake Productions (Co-owned by Layne (the beatboxer) and former member Tony Wakim (Can be seen in Voiceplay version of Phantom of the Opera))
Welcome, they do everything from covering Dragonborn, cover Valhalla calling, Geoff(bass) Castellucci has his own channel. We will watch anything you react to from them. They do their own stuff so no need to cover it with the screen thing.

Thank you so much!!!

As a few folks here already said, the low voice is the lead. Now, I don't know if it's the case with you, but the first time I listened to Oogie Boogie, I honestly missed the very last note, it's that low... and unexpected given how high he climbed just a few words before - guy's got an incedible range.
Dude, you need to check out Voice Play with Ashley Diane, "If I were a rich man / girl". Get ready for a head trip.
In a group, you’ll never see me fixate on one person!
A few of my favorites are
Queen in 5 Minutes
Boy Bands in 5 Minutes
Dragon Born Comes
Sleeping in the Cold Below
Creep
Hoist the Colours
Daddy Sang Bass
In the Hall of the Mountain King
(And many many more)
They are releasing a sequel to In the Hall of the Mountain King tomorrow so Yea new Song (Yes, I know it's been on their patreon for a while).
Recommend Pentatonix’s Kiss From A Rose.
THEY'RE INDEPENDENT ARTIST SO IT SHOULDN'T GET BLOCKED
I’ve been told!
Thank you!
You should watch Geoff Castiliatucci’s I See Fire” from the hobbit. It is sooo amazing!

Welcome aboard, fasten your seatbelt and enjoy! They just released a new cover today that's even more theatrical than this one--Classical Chaos. Some top VoicePlay recs include Nothing Else Matters, Hoist the Colours and Valhalla Calling, but other commenters are correct, you really can't go wrong with these guys. Liked and subscribed, looking forward to more!
I'll recommend their version of Hoist the Colours from Pirates of the Caribbean 3 - it's amazing.
Subscribed in anticipation!
Check out Dimash Qudaibergen. He's from Kazakhstan, and he is being labeled as the best singer in the world!
I’ve reacted to him before! I love his voice!
Ops… I forgot…. Wellerman, the lion sleeps tonight….❤❤
Roger that!

Add more Voiceplay reactions and you may have a new sub ;-). And I can 2nd what azitula said. VoicePlay welcomes reactors. Thank you!

If you want to hear fantastic melodies watch “Hoist the Colors” covered by Voiceplay. Try Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters” by Voiceplay and about 50 others
Voice play does need a copyright protection as far as I know because they are independent they don’t block videos
