    I know how easy it is to get too many books. What i have been trying is utilizing the library a lot more. I have found so many new releases and other great books. I pick up a couple, read them and get really excited to return them and check out a couple more. If it is a book i really love, then i might purchase one for my bookshelves.
    Love your thought process on decluttering! ❤

    I've so badly been needing to do this! Now that I'm overflowing and I have books lying all over the floor of my linen closet...it's time! 🤭 We have "his and her" shelves in our bedroom and we have a loft upstairs with a few shelves. It's more than enough for a decent sized collection. I really don't want to continue adding shelves just because. I want to be really selective and keep the books that bring me joy and like you said...ones I may actually reread again at some point. And I HAVE to stop going to our library's semi-annual book sales. They are SOOOOO much fun and you get such good deals, but I wind up bringing home 50 books each time I go. Reality is I'd probably only read a handful of them, but I have an issue with resisting good deals. I don't want to be a book hoarder! lol

      Yesss, I have the same problem! Going to sales and thrifting to me is so fun, but it ends up bot being the best for me because I can’t help grabbing something because it’s a good deal! I’m right there with you, I don’t want to be a book hoarder either and that’s definitely what I’ve been doing 😬

    I also just got rid of a bunch of books.. my physical TBR was at almost 400. So I would feel guilty reading a book that wasn’t on it. Thrifting books is a hobby and it’s SO hard to not pick up a book that is well loved by others and so cheap.. but almost think. I would have more satisfaction of buying something full price, reading it almost immediately after, then shelving it as read and moving on! Right there with you.

      100%!! Thrifting is something that I love but has become a hobby that has gotten just a bit out of control for my liking! I’m right there with you, the satisfaction of that would be the best and then having a clean slate to pick up what I TRULY want to read instead of feeling guilty about what’s on my shelves! 🤩

    I recently unhauled 400+ books. I took an average of their ratings on Goodreads and Storygraph. First I was going to keep 3 stars or better but I wasn’t getting rid of enough so I upped it to 3.5 stars, still not getting rid enough. Finally settled on only keeping 4 star reads or better. It feels so freeing. I will also be donating to the free little libraries near me as I read them. I am trying to exclusively use the Library, Thriftbooks, Book of the Month and Aardvark books.

      It is so so freeing! I was shocked that while I had a little bit of a hard time, it feels so good! 🥰 I love your plan & little free libraries! It also sounds like you have yourself an awesome line up of books doing it like that!🤩 I’m also going to be trying to exclusive use the library but then also my kindle (KU) and then if I absolutely love a book and need a copy, then I’ll grab one!💗 thank you so much for sharing!♥️

      A method I'm trying out for myself is to read more from my physical shelves this year and buy less. If i buy more, i either need to read a certain amount or unhaul/ donate to cancel each other out. So if i buy 6 books, i need to unhaul and/or read 6 books

      @adrie2408 i love this method!! Not one that worked for me because I didn’t hold myself accountable, but an absolutely amazing strategy! 🤩

    The video and your thoughts felt a little too relatable haha. I 100% can relate to feeling a little overwhelmed. I got back into reading this year as well as learning about the beauty of free little libraries, book thrifting, and kindle unlimited (not to mention actual libraries too!) It’s thrilling to find popular books for cheap or free but I’ve since accumulated a lot. I want to be more mindful of what I bring in to my collection but it’s so hard! At this point I just want to appreciate and read the books I own

      @@horseful1 it is VERY hard! I’m glad you were able to find this relatable although I’m sorry you’re feeling overwhelmed as well! I am right there with you with wanting to truly appreciate the books I read and fully enjoy them in the moment! I hope you find a great balance for yourself for your reading and collecting!💕

    Hey, I like to think of it as being a book collector who also reads books! Moving forward, maybe only purchase books you think you will love. Maybe don't buy 1 without donating one.

    • @dayswiththedoyles
      @dayswiththedoyles  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes! Moving forward I’m going to be using my library and kindle more exclusively, then if I absolutely love one, I’m going to pick it up!🤩💕
