The coffee place wasn't really more expensive than Starbucks, tbh. An iced matcha costs about the same there and definitely doesn't have lavender. Also the taco place's logo looks like Perry the Platypus LMAO
lol $11 avo toast is reasonable compared to a $8 sliced packaged slice of pound cake or microwaved frozen breakfast sandwich.
& maybe if the macha latte was like $12+

Most all fast food employees are making at least minimum wage and are usually not allowed to take tips. Owners operators are increasing cost of food by expecting tips. Tipping should be limited to table service where service is required.
Owners are increasing cost of food because minimum wage is higher so overhead is higher and food supply costs are higher.
Resturant loans in California range from $50,000 to $500,000 dollars. The business extended plan for repayment should cover employees wages, food costs and fixed expenses.

@gllyflower nope,I live in california. She is from San Diego right or OC? Even there no one tips in the drive thru or even inside. I mean there are prompts and Starbucks probably gets the most tips, but it's not common practice.

The first one is not that expensive for a major city. But to be fair they couldve done a nice nut relish and a few pickled veges on that avo toast.

I feel like the prices in a lot of those places were reasonable. Or maybe I just think that everything in California is supposed to be a lot more expensive than it is in Texas.
As someone that grew up in CA and just recently moved to Texas.. it’s about the same.. at least where I live.
The avocado toast price for literally just being bread, avocado, salt, pepper, and oil was straight criminal.
Crazy those prices are so cheap! In Canada a McChicken at McDs is $8! At least $12-14 for a chicken sandwich with real chicken lol
Isn’t that just because the Canadian dollar is worth less than the American dollar…so everything is typically more expensive in Canada for the same products
a mcchicken is $5.39 Canadian which is the equivalent to $4 US.
it’s between $1-3 US depending on the state (MI is $1 and MA is $3), with the average being $1.74, the canadian equivalent of $1.34-4.02 or $2.33.
in the UK, it’s £4.69 which is 7.98 CAD or 5.96 USD.

I mean the pasta looked pretty good (although the sauce was a little runny for my taste). She's right it did have a lot of whole quality ingredients, but not $25 good or whatever the pasta was on its own.

Jarys Italian in Glendora, CA is a drive thru Italian restaurant and it’s AMAZING. The place doesn’t look so great on the outside but the food is amazing .

There's Fazoli's, which is a great example of a pasta drive through! I love their pesto chicken with penne noodles! I'm not sure if there's a Fazoli's on the west coast though but definitely in South and South Eastern!
As a european, I only tip staff that did an exceptional job. Even in more luxurious places their employer is supposed to pay them more. Here, a tip is supposed to be an apprecietion of an exceptional service, and it should go straight to their pocket. I'm still surprised it's a must in the US.

That drink is like 80cents less than a large iced mocha from Starbucks in the UK. I worked as a chef and I will tell you all gourmet means normally is the food is typically higher priced and it ain't always worth it

you should've got the crispy pork belly at carrot and daikon since that's their best seller. i've got it many times and it's so good and the pork belly is the best you can get for that price

eh idk about that cause they’re gas is way more than nyc & their rent/mortgage prices i think are about the same if not worse in some places of Cali. I just think you get more for what you pay for there

No this was so cheap. I spend $30-60 average on my meals in Florida for one person. My matcha here is like $12
When you consider alot of people are making down to like 13 an hour and a meal from McDonald's is around 21, yeah its expensive. I only shop at dollar tree and my boyfriend makes around 500 a week but a little over 500 a month has to go to just keeping a car insured and not repossessed, so after that and rent we're still broke. Nothing goes as far as you think it does. It's like Americans saying the Phillipines and other countries are so cheap. Yeah when you're coming from a different currency but for the locals it isn't lol
