Rush directed by Ron Howard with Chris Hemsworth is a fantastic racing movie that is based on the true story of one of the greatest rivalries in motorsport history! Think you guys will have fun with it! Chris hemsworth is great as always! 👍💯🔥😎
One of the best parts in this movie is how it validates videogames as both a tool and as an art form... It is pretty much a manifesto against prejudice over videogames.
The story with the Dad not supporting his sons dream because to him "that's not a real career path", that hits me so hard. I wasn't a great racing gamer. But back in old CoD MW 2 days I was invited to join a ESports team, but my Dad wouldn't let me because it's not real. I always wish he just supported me. I love my Dad, I always just think "what if?".
@@williamvanderscheer4327 Very true, however - it's the same with actual pro sports. Ok, maybe in football the percentage is a bit higher, but otherwise it's the exact same deal. And yet, parents wouldn't step in nearly as often, if their kids got offered a spot on a junior or B team for a Premiership or Championship side. It's really quite unfortunate.
@@williamvanderscheer4327 that's not the point tho lmao. glad i never grew up with a father telling me what i couldn't do. that's how you end up working a 9-5 for 50 years until you inevitably croak and realize you didn't really do ANYTHING worth while
On the topic of sim racers being able to compete with real racers; Current reigning F1 world champion Max Verstappen and by many considered the best driver in the world today, is also a huge proponent of sim racing and amongst the highest rated in many of the big games. He is so passionate about it that people often joke F1 is just a hobby while his sim racing is his actual career. Just a few weeks ago he won the virtual 24H of Nuerburgring ON THE SAME DAY that he won the imola grand prix in Italy. He also truly believes many of the skills aquired during sim racing can transfer to real life. In fact he is planning (and in the process of) setting up his own racing team to do just that; bring sim racers onto real tracks.
@@dabreal82 Honestly Max's personal sim rig is a unit and no doubt expensive, but it's also not a far cry from what most die hard sim racing fans are using.

I was honestly surprised with how great the movie was. I liked how much it integrated the games into real life and I’m glad that they made this movie the way that they did.
David Harbour made this movie a million times better.. his acting is phenomenal and can’t wait to watch him in the final season of stranger things next year
I watched this in IMAX. IT. WAS. FUCKING. AMAZING. The audio was incredible. It's the best car audio in any film, ever, period. And those nighttime Le Mans shots...OH MY GOD. Also: God, that accident at the Ring. He wasn't hurt nearly as bad as they showed - but yes, a spectator was killed. It was absolutely a freak accident. And it was terrifying to watch live.
You mentioned that top racers use sims. A good one to note is that Max Verstappen, the current F1 champion, also competes in Iracing doing GT racing. During the F1 Imola Grand Prix he also took part in the virtual 24h Nurburgring, and his team won it with him doing two stints as well as qualifying pole then winning the irl F1 race. It's amazing to see how far sim racing has come and how much more respect people have for it now, and Jann Mardenborough (and the Nissan team) is a huge part of that. Even though it's not 100% accurate to what actually happened, this movie is amazing fun to watch.
This quickly became one of my favorite films ever made. My relationship with my father has felt so much like Jann’s in many ways, so those scenes with the two of them together hit really hard. Even with how many times I’ve seen it, my heart still gets racing with every scene on the track.
So happy that you guys watched this! For Mason Quinn who was surprised he missed who Geri was (Ginger spice) she is married to Christian Horner who is the F1Red Bull team principle. She has been a familiar face in the F1 paddock for years and had always wanted to be part of a racing movie.
I grew up playing Gran Turismo. I had a fun time watching this movie. It wasn't a movie I'd go to the theater for, but it was the perfect streaming platform movie imo lol.
I saw this at the theaters and went in with lower than low expectations not truly knowing the actual story. By the end I was blown away by how good it was. A very prestigious cast, great acting, good pacing and just the right amount of video game corniness. I would definitely recommend this movie. Edited for a little trivia. Not sure if you guys knew, but the real life Jann actually did some stunt driving for the movie.

THANK YOU FOR REACTING TO THIS AMAZING MOVIE! I’ve been looking for reactions for so long since is one of my favorite movies (i have watch it 5 times already, no jk) and I’m so glad one of my favorite YT channel decided to react to this movie.
Loved this movie! What seemed weird in terms of just how *most* races work; You can't just block a pass on a *turn* without being frowned upon. Straightaways are obviously wide enough to allow you to do so with less risk of crashing or wiping someone out. But on turns, you can't bump someone out or close that space, or else, you'll be penalized. It's even penalized on Gran Turismo online when detected. In the words of Fernando Alonso: "All the time! You have to leave-a the space!"
I loved seeing your reaction to this movie! There is a drag strip I use to compete on near my house I was one of only 5 woman, so I'm loving just the sound of the cars.
I remember countless hours spent on building and tuning to spec over four hundred cars on four memory cards built for each track and the fun it was. Loved all your reactions to GT.
I practically GREW UP playing gran turismo AND still play it from time to time on my ps2 (I know it's a super old console but it still works just fine)
Here is the thing about sim-racing that most people get wrong - the g-forces in the real life are actually a huge help, not a setback. You get much more information and feedback from the car and the track when you can feel it with your whole body, than just through the wheel in your living room. Predicticing slides and feeling the limit of the grip is at least 3 times easier than purely driving on a simulator. If you get fast in a simumlator, you will be fast in a real racecar. I was lucky enough to get a ride in a GT3 speced Audi R8 and one thing that amazed me was how much lighter the wheel was compared to the setting of my simrig. It's actually so much easier to drive. G-forces shouldn't be a problem for an average male in good shape, it's endurance and focus you have to pay most attention to. It's easy to be fast over a couple of laps, but when racing for a few hours it's a completely different thing. The only thing that really can catch you offguard irl is the heat. This one you can't simulate at home. Keeping your focus while being cooked inside a 60°C racecar oven is on a whole different level of hard.
The true story was the guy won the Gran Turismo Academy the second year they had it, and the big crash happened after he became a real race car driver, and his family was more supportive than they were portrayed in the movie, and his movie mom was one of the Spice Girls
Life long GT enthusiasts here. Currently cracking out on GT7 like it was released yesterday. Anyway, this movie was better than I thought it would be, but let’s be honest, it’s not gonna win any awards. I still enjoyed it and had fun watching it.
I love this movie, some fun facts vs fiction for you guys: 1. The plot of Jann's dad not being supportive of his dream was not true, his dad was fully supportive of him. 2. Jann's dad really was a professional soccer player, even though he didn't have a long career. 3. Orlando Bloom's character was fictional. 4. The character Jack Salter was not a real person but was inspired by real life figures Richard Divila and Gavin Gough. 5. Nicholas Capa is a fictional character designed to move the plot along. 6. Jann actually went through a few test races before he qualified for the academy, not just the one like film portrayed. 5. Lastly like ya'll pointed out the crash was real where a spectator did die in that accident in 2015. Mardenborough competed in La Mans two years before the incident at Nurburgring. Hope this was helpful.🙏
As much as I love the Forza Horizon racing games, Gran Turismo will always be iconic and this movie made me want to play the games with one of those gaming steering wheels 😄
When brakes become really hot and goes beyond the maximum temperature limit, the surface of the brake pads becomes really smooth, almost like porcelain.
Not only have I played GT for years, but I've been blessed to have driven on Nurburgring. That is a scary track at those speeds. You can't use most of the curbs because they're angled and you can lose control of the car.
I love your reactions ❤ I watched this in theaters and it was amazing with all the sound effects it blew my mind. I remember the game because of my little brother always played the game when I saw the movie was coming out and told my brother and our expectations were blown away. The Answer started crying how emotional it got I felt that too they way they made this to the smallest details like that accident was so exact how it happened. I loved that they kept is a much true to the actual story. 5/5 answers for me! From a person who’s not bias 😂
My sister, when she was just learning to drive, she was so uncomfortable behind the wheel and was scared to even try to drive our car. We already had Playstation, so my dad got her this game and a steering wheel and peddle combo to help boost her confidence. I did the same and we are better and more confident drivers because of it.
I think we’re in the decade where we as a species are finally starting to understand the algorithms behind certain genre’s of movies. That’s why we’ve gotten some of the greatest movies of all time being released in recent years. This movie is yet another GREAT step forwards for racing movies. Sure, people have certain gripes with the pacing, and especially how the liftoff crash happened later in his life, but they put it in early. But Jann himself wanted that put in because of how impactful that was to his life and story. It’s an artistic choice, and once you look past that, what you have is a really entertaining, beautifully shot racing story.
LOVED this movie! I was excited for it straight from the trailer. It exceeded my expectations - this movie had it ALL - heart, action, emotion, excitement, heartbreak - you name it. I grew up around auto racing. My dad raced Sprint and Midgets and stock on dirt tracks. My brother and nephews also raced/race. While this is so good - girl e me a good clay track and open wheel any day of the week! Charlie Daniel's Band song - Strokers Theme - is one I play often - feeds my soul.
This might be the most animated I've seen these guys in a movie reaction. 😂😂 It's a feel good movie. I was one of the few people who watched it in cinemas.
I hadn't played this game since the first one. But, this movie went under the radar. I saw it in 3dx with the movie showing on the screen and side walls of the theatre and in Dolby. Saw it 3 in the theatre. It was easily one of the best movies in '23!
When story, plot, acting, music and emotion are in place for any movie, no matter how improbable the concept or stupid and realistic it may seem, even big strong men will cry when a movie is done right. Great directing
Great reaction!!! I feel that this movie went under the radar for a lot of people when this came out just because of them shifting release dates and stuff. This movie was way better than it has any right to be. Anyway, fun fact: the actual creator of the game, Kazunori Yamauchi, was played by an actor but he has a blink and you'll miss it cameo in the movie! He is the sushi chef at the restaurant in Tokyo!
I would just like to say you guys are great. I stumbled on to this channel when you were reacting to one piece and I was very hesitant. You could say I was judging books by their covers. I thought you guys would be hypermasculine and mock certain concepts or topics. You all proved me wrong in the best way. You provide such great insight you arent afraid to show your emotions and watch shows and movies that I never would have expected. Thanks for being so positive and being great role models for young men you teach them to be curious and to try new things with an open mind.
Really good movie. Edit: The Matty Davis character is fictional. That other racer who raced with him in Lemans is a real person and was also in the GT Academy in an earlier year.
Both Nürburgring and Le Mans are considered the hardest and most challenging and dangerous circuits in the world. There a bunch of different endurance series but the top one is the WEC (World Endurance Championship) where you do the 24 H of Le Mans. Just watched it and I really enjoyed it, great movie! PS: They definitely made changes but that just made this movie more dramatic, fun and entertaining, in my opinion.
Is that the dark orchestral version of Roman Reigns theme music playing at the beginning of the video?? Sooo good💯 ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR TRIBAL CHIEF!!!!!☝️
Geri Halliwell is married to Christian Horner, the team Principal for the Red Bull F1 team. Over the years she's been at quite a few races and I'm sure she channelled her feelings as the team matriarch into her Mom role here.
The best thing about the movie is that the stunts drivings are done by the real Jann Mardenborough, and the actress qho plays the female racecar driver is a racecar driver and car enthusiast IRL.
i watched some of the interviews with Jann and he said for example that his dad started supporting him much faster and accident at Nurburgring (2014) was after the 3rd place at Le Mans (2015) and the team wasnt full of SIM racers it happened but later and Jann i think wasnt part of it but maybe im wrong there. Ahh and John Salter was in movie kind of combination of all the coaches that Jann had and not exactly at hte same time
This movie is soooooo underrated.... gotta say havnt played the game since PS1 iv got I gor ps4 but ... GTR is my ALLTIME fav car.. there are like 4 running around my city.. u can't test drive one without putting 10k down... mad but great story , great movie ...
Ooooh a BM racetrack challenge is a fantastic idea! I think the loser should get buckets of water & foamy soap thrown at them (kinda like a human car wash experience) Spent many hrs playing this game with my brother back in the day, so that was a nice touch including gameplay with the live action, I loved Quinn's gleeful giddiness watching this film ☺️ & films based on games is either a hit or miss, but this film definitely hit the mark! Great storyline & awesome soundtrack! & liked how it was based on a true story & had such an impact on motor racing industry, thanks for a great reaction video guys! 😎
The accident at the Nurburgring actually happened IRL and it actually killed people. but also the section of track where it happened is called Flugplatz which translates literally to "Airfield" because of how cars lift off at that section. also this movie may not be the most realistic when it comes to a racing fans perspective but it is fun and tells Jann's story decently well. Also if Y'all enjoyed this film you would love Ford V Ferarri, quite literally the best and most realistic racing movie ever! also even the live action speed racer movie from 2008 is fantastic as a racing film.
I remember seeing the video of that crash years and years ago on TH-cam then watched this film when it came out and seen the crash and realised it was the same one
ALSO...If you are wondering where yall are recognizing the actor playing Jann, he's one of the characters in the movie Saltburn! The kid who gets set up for being a thief.
I would love seeing yall do challenges. Your early challenge videos make me laugh so hard. I periodically revisit the garage door one just to laugh at Oak essentially waterboarding himself with a beer after poking a hole in the lid, plus Mason Quinn thanking Jesus for his win makes me laugh every single time so hard, even when I know he's about to say it. And Answer just destroying poor Dave on their round! Good times. Also, revisit the Oak trying to kick bottles off yalls heads. LOL
Didn't think I'd be interested in this movie but it was great! Like Diamond Dave, I didn't realise it was based on a true story until the very end that made it more epic
I saw this movie on a sneak preview. I had no idea what movie was going to be playing. I absolutely hate watching racing, and I also don't like video games. Any movie that can make me really love it when I don't like any of the topics is an excellent movie in my book. 100 % this movie is underrated.
Damn, I can't believe my dumbass wasn't hyped for the movie when it was announced, but that was pretty amazing :) had a lump in my throat watching lol that rarely happens to me.
Got dragged to this in theatres. Could not have had less of a desire to see it honestly. Completely surprised me! Couple cringe corpo moments/dialogue aside, incredibly solid film. So much better acted than I was expecting.

This is one of my favourite racing films ever! Very emotional and fun to watch.
It's a feel good movie. I was one of the few people who watched it in cinemas.
Watched this 3x in the cinemas loved this movie ❤
I hadn't played this game since the first one. But, this movie went under the radar. I saw it in 3dx with the movie showing on the screen and side walls of the theatre and in Dolby. Saw it 3 in the theatre. It was easily one of the best movies in '23!
Glad more are reacting to this underrated movie. I highly recommend another underrated movie called Upgrade if you guys are into cyberpunk.
When story, plot, acting, music and emotion are in place for any movie, no matter how improbable the concept or stupid and realistic it may seem, even big strong men will cry when a movie is done right. Great directing
You guys should absolutely react to Rush and Ford vs Ferrari, incredible racing movies.
I never usually watch these types of movies but my husband convinced me and man we have watched it many many times worth the watch
I loved this movie. Thank goodness. I've been waiting for someone to give this a chance. ❤🎉🎉
Really good movie. Edit: The Matty Davis character is fictional. That other racer who raced with him in Lemans is a real person and was also in the GT Academy in an earlier year.
challenge videos for badd medicine sounds insane... can't wait to see them!
I saw this in RPX and it was awesome. The sound was crazy. So much fun.
Is that the dark orchestral version of Roman Reigns theme music playing at the beginning of the video?? Sooo good💯 ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR TRIBAL CHIEF!!!!!☝️
If there is one thing that gets to Oak all the time it's FAMILY
I couldn’t sit still throughout this film, the adrenaline was crazy. Such an amazing immersive cinematic experience 😁
Ahh and John Salter was in movie kind of combination of all the coaches that Jann had and not exactly at hte same time
Seeing Emelia was the best part
Love what she is doing for the car community and knowing her journey, makes me even happier of what she accomplished and continue so.
Such an underrated movie
Saltburn Oak, you know him from Saltburn
This movie is soooooo underrated.... gotta say havnt played the game since PS1 iv got I gor ps4 but ... GTR is my ALLTIME fav car.. there are like 4 running around my city.. u can't test drive one without putting 10k down... mad but great story , great movie ...
this movie has made its up to one of my favorite videos ever tbh
Ooooh a BM racetrack challenge is a fantastic idea! I think the loser should get buckets of water & foamy soap thrown at them (kinda like a human car wash experience)
Spent many hrs playing this game with my brother back in the day, so that was a nice touch including gameplay with the live action, I loved Quinn's gleeful giddiness watching this film ☺️ & films based on games is either a hit or miss, but this film definitely hit the mark! Great storyline & awesome soundtrack! & liked how it was based on a true story & had such an impact on motor racing industry, thanks for a great reaction video guys! 😎
Djimon hounsou is really great with those emotional scenes
I wish y’all could’ve seen this is ScreenX at the theater! Talk about unreal😂
The women that plays leah vega is a huge car TH-camr and actress named Emelia Hartford!
I've never played a Gran Turismo game in my life. After watching this movie I want to play all of them! I will play all of them! 😈
I’m so obsessed with this movie
Fun Fact: Mom is played by a spice girl. Also have you guys seen RUSH yet?!
I grew up playing GT.
LOL
Fun Fact : That Crashed Jann Was In Happened On March 28th , 2015 .
Didn't think I'd be interested in this movie but it was great! Like Diamond Dave, I didn't realise it was based on a true story until the very end that made it more epic
I participated in the GT Academy contest
The real footage of him going off the track looks identical to it in the movie!!
I saw this movie on a sneak preview. I had no idea what movie was going to be playing. I absolutely hate watching racing, and I also don't like video games. Any movie that can make me really love it when I don't like any of the topics is an excellent movie in my book. 100 % this movie is underrated.
Lots of family and fast cars, all we're missing is some Furious, and then we got ourselves a series!
Both this and Air were very overlooked great flims
I’d love to see you guys watch Robots from 2005 starring Robin Williams. It’s a really funny movie
Damn, I can't believe my dumbass wasn't hyped for the movie when it was announced, but that was pretty amazing :) had a lump in my throat watching lol that rarely happens to me.
You guys have to watch "rush" if you like racing movies
I’m still trying to get used to the fact that this is based of a true story. So awesome 👏
Guys, on "History VS Hollywood" you can see the video of the real Jan going airborne.
Got dragged to this in theatres. Could not have had less of a desire to see it honestly. Completely surprised me! Couple cringe corpo moments/dialogue aside, incredibly solid film. So much better acted than I was expecting.
