My procedure was performed by Dr. Fowler at @OverlakeMedicalCenter in Bellevue, Washington. They are a fantastic hospital with a world class staff. Here is link to a playlist I put together about AFIB and Pulsed Field Ablation: th-cam.com/play/PLkl9bkNoVo7m0diAj60xaNrmH1QBd7znW.html
Firstly let me say that I just came across your video today and it has helped me immensely with new found confidence making a decision to move forward with the new PFA procedure. Thanks for sharing your experience sir! An incredible story with a superbly detailed description and explanation. I too had an ablation procedure at Overlake hospital but back in 2012. It worked well for about 8 years even though it was a very long and rough procedure resulting in me having a short periods of congestive heart failure the following day after having been on the operating table for over 6 hours. I too recall how cold that operating room was before they put me under! Since that ablation I’ve had numerous short term afib episodes over the years and then a heart attack in 2015. The afib episodes were eventually corrected with a cardio-version procedure and the heart attack with stents. Unfortunately at 70 years of age I have found myself in continuous afib and have been for over 3 months now. It is debilitating. No energy, out of breath just walking across the room. I too have rural acreage that I live on in the northwest and equipment that needs attention. Tomorrow morning is my Valley Medical cardiologist appointment to discuss the results of my heart monitor from 3 weeks prior and another possible cardio-version for some relief and then an appointment referral for an ablation. I had an ablation scheduled back in 2022 but experienced other medical issues which put the ablation on hold. I recently learned that Valley Medical is now performing PFA procedures which actually excites me as a clear path for afib relief with further hopes of returning energy and stamina. I’ve had great care and experiences with Valley Medical in the past similar to your experiences at Overlake. Both have great staff and caring folk. Thanks again for sharing your story!
Wow! You've been through it! From what I understand, the difference between the way ablations were performed 10 years ago and the way they're performed now is pretty astounding.
@@HomesteadBandwagon I would like to send you an email overview about my "AFIB Journey" and plan to leverage AI for improving diagnoses, monitoring and care.
Thank you so much for sharing. I had my PFA procedure done on last Wednesday 11/Dec. I was convicted with this new technology method after much thought and homework done. I requested my cardio doctor to go ahead with PFA, even knowing it relatives new in our country. So thankful that everything went well. The key-hole wounds healed well too. Yes, I too, have this sense of great gratitude to the doctor & his team. They’re great team! All Glory to God🙌🏻
Thank you so much! I’m 54 healthy and have Afib which is getting worse. Medication isn’t working for me. I told them I don’t want surgery too! So scary. I’m seeing the Cardio on Friday for my surgery. You don’t know how much you have helped me and put my mind as ease! Thank you !!! Please keep updating. I subscribed. 😊
The WORST thing about the procedure was the stress I put MYSELF through about the procedure! After it was done, I felt fantastic. Glad you're getting it handled! Let me know how it goes!
Thanks so much for sharing your experience with pulse field ablation. I am up for the same procedure this week and I feel much better about it after having watched your video. I appreciate all you did to make this. Hope all is well in the future.
Wishing you all the Best Micah. Very helpful info you passed along. Sounds very promising, and the Staff and facility seems wonderful. I wish all doctors would would build your trust the way they did with you. PTL.
Thanks for this video, I am 38 and booked in for a PFA in late January. Ive had Afib for many year's, ranging from 2 or 3 episodes per year to every few weeks recently. Really hoping to see some success but i really appreciated you sharing your experiences as given my age you dont meet many people that have had to deal with it
Thanks, Sir. Have had AFib for about 10 years. Have been on Tikosyn that worked initially for quite a while. but now, the occurrences are more frequent and I think the medication is no longer being effective, Scared to death to have this procedure, but, you have made me feel a bit more at ease about it. I don't see that I have much of a choice anymore. So, I'll probably be calling my Cardiologist in the very near future!!!! Best of luck to you and thanks for making this video!!!
After having it done, I can confidently say that I'd do it again in an instant. Definitely call your cardiologist and see what they think. It's a pretty remarkable technology
This was an extremely helpful video; thank you for making it. I was diagnosed with A fib in 2020. After my 1st episode, I went several years without another...until this year. I experienced a 1 minute episode in February, a 1 hour episode in March, and another episode last weekend that lasted 7 hours. Each time it has scared the crap out of me -- even though I know it's not life threatening it is SO uncomfortable. I am thinking of having a pulsed field ablation. I see that this disease will progress and this new type of ablation seems like a good thing to do before waiting much longer.
I had a hard time accepting that an ablation was a good decision, but now that it's been done, I am relieved. From what I've been told, PFA is working toward being the first treatment option for AFIB rather than drugs becuse it is so safe and effective. That's amazing to me.
I had this in October 2024. I wasted too much mental worry in anticipation. It was a breeze. For now I appeared to be cured of the a fib. I only had one episode of fib. Upon my first episode of Afib,I immediately went to the ER got shocked, and got scheduled for the ablation. Sooner treatment is better for most people. You provide an excellent account of this condition and its treatment. I had very mild chest pain the first night or two. No sore throat. Tiny bruises in both groins (almost couldn't see them, and no pain there). Got an Apple Watch and have been monitoring since the procedure. I think it's a great procedure and would gladly do it again if I need a touch-up procedure. I still have frequent PACs, but they don't bother me and the electrophysiologist said the burned pathways are preventing these ectopic beats from turning into Afib as they would have done. As I approach the 3 month mark, the PACs are decreasing in frequency.
Had RF ablation in 2013, and AFib came back in 2024. Had PFA done last October. First time I was on the table for 4 hours. Second time they redid the work that was done in 2013 plus 2 more (4 total) pulmonary veins. They also discovered a Atrial Flutter and treated it with RF. So far so good.
Your detailed description really resonated and is fortuitous. The doctor I am treating with was involved in the Manifest study so I feel confident and optimistic ~ thank you for meaningful sharing!
I believe it was the right choice for me- It was really surprising how "easy" it is now compared to even a few years ago. From what I understand, Ablation is being considered as more of a front line treatment for AFIB by more people in the medical field. Rather than masking the problem with medication, they're getting in there and trying to just solve the problem, which I really like!
No real pain in the groin, really. That being said, they didn't tell me to shave the area, and some hair got caught in the bandages. Not fun at all to change it out, let me tell ya!
Glad to hear you're doing well. I've had AFIB for 30 years. I also came down with emphysema so it is now difficult to figure if I''m out of breath because of the lungs or the heart. Cardiologists say my AFIB is not severe enough for ablation but I have been on blood thinners for the last 30 years. But I will tell you this Mica, I will keep you in my prayers. I have no idea where your spiritual life is but do not be afraid to ask the Good Lord to help you along in life. Yes, He gives us great doctors to help us heal but there is no higher healer than Jesus Christ Himself. If you don't belong to I church I would say find a good Bible-based church in your area and check it out. You would be surprised what prayer can do for our healing. Take care sir, always do enjoy your videos.
Great video for AFib patients. I had 2 PFAs one in March 2024 was a trial. It ruduced my burden from 40 percent to 20 percent. In July on my follow up dr said we can do another ablation in 2 weeks. I said okay. He used Farapulse for the 2nd. Found stuff on the back wall causing my AFib. No AFib since. What was your burden.? Good luck.
My burden way low enough that they didn't even address it, which is understandable. Less than 1% when they had me on a heart monitor for a month. Of course, after the monitor was off, it seemed like everything ticked back up again!
@@HomesteadBandwagon Forgot to say I am 67m very fit. Obviously i was asymptomatic and was diagnosed during routine physical. I would get winded when working out and just thought I was getting old. I had a PFA on January 8th. I’m also getting Supra ventricular Ectopic Beats. I’m hoping they will go away after the 3 month blanking period. Are you still getting them?
They've calmed WAY down. It's been at least a week since anything noticeable. Even though they are certainly a nuisance, I'd take them any day of the week over afib!
My problem is PVCs they’re getting worse something you never get used to. I see my heart doctor tomorrow. Hopefully I can get off these meds and have the ablation.

In Australia they have just reduced the blanking period for PFA from 12 to 4 weeks due to the success/findings of the patients...
Oh wow. That's really interesting. Do they figure the healing process is faster after a PFA than it is with RF or Cryo?
Yes my surgeon said that based off the short term findings they felt comfortable enough to reduce the blanking period
