I am an 87 year old guy that just got diagnosed with a fib after a flutter. I plan to work with my physicians to get a catheter ablation. Thank you surely surely Charlie❤
I had my ablation last week to treat PVCs. The whole process sounded scary to me , but but the time the doctors had me in the surgery room I was waking up in my hospital room. I give mad props to the doctors who do this everyday.
I'm on day 11 after my cryo ablation. Started at 8:10 and finished at 10:51. Went home that day and have had no arythmias since. It's early in the blanking period, but I am very pleased with my decision after having my second ER stay and AFIB within 6 years. I'm a 50 yr old male with no anomalies in heart, just electrical issues. Thanks for the excellent video and I am hopeful my AFIB days are behind me
When your Afib occurred back then, did you also have high heart rate like 150 bpm? What were the symptoms that bothered you so much to go to ER and get the ablation done? Hope all the best.
@@jack-lo7vd yes, both ER visits HR was erratic and around 150. I felt compression in chest, breathing was a bit labored. Since I had been out of rythym over I dont know 5,000 times in between the 2 AFIBs, I knew exactly what it was. It is quite uncomfortable and your HR feels like a brick in a dryer. Normally I go out of rythm after exerting myself or over eating. This last time I was awoken with it
@@xuul7338 A great description! It does feel like a brick in a dryer! I've had Afib for over 4 years. Two weeks ago was my 2nd hospital stay. Scheduled for a nuclear stress test soon. Wish my doc would be amenable to an ablation but he wants to continue with medication!??# UGH.
I'm 53 and have been dealing with arrhythmias for over 30 years...I'm willing to roll the dice and have this procedure now! Just tired of being tortured decade after decade!
I am having my procedure done next week ...... A new ablation method from Germany ....... I think it is the pulse method I have seen mentioned on these videos. I am English having it done in Luxembourg ...... the best hospital I have ever experienced. I met the consultant today ..... 6th Sept 23 and I am having it done on the 14th. Not because it's urgent but because the doctor said the sooner the better. I am very confident with this hospital ..... wish me luck please 🙏
I had my ablation in London, UK 🇬🇧 back in 2014 - just one procedure, no repeats required and I've never had any episodes of AF since. I was allowed home the same day and had no complications whatsoever. It was done courtesy of the UK NHS (National Health Service) and it cost me absolutely nothing.
I'm insured in the USA. Will cost me nothing. We have the best medicine in the world thanks to not having a socialist health care system. Many in the UK come here to have serious procedures done. I'm retired at 46 and pay $100 a month for insurance through my previous employer. Dont get me wrong, I love the U.K..
@@deedarbee9847 The Professor of Cardiology who performed my procedure at Bart's Hospital in London is internationally renowned. His advice was to remain on Apixaban long-term to provide 'cover' for any episodes of silent AF. I've never had any symptomatic AF since the procedure and my Apple Watch, which I wear day and night never shows any AF. But I am more than happy to follow Professor Schilling's advice. In fact it seems like Prof. was ahead of the curve as it is now standard practice for patients to be advised to remain on one of the newer anticoagulants (NOAC's) for life even after a completely successful catheter ablation for AF. It's all a matter of balancing risks and benefits and the risk benefit ratio for the NOAC's is extremely good: risk of bleeding very, very low and protection from stroke should I ever go back into AF - extremely good. I don't need any anti-arrhythmic meds, not even a B-blocker. Just make sure you find a wizard to do the ablation if you're going to have one.
I am having a cardiac ablation on Thursday. Mr Drs are good but I have learned so much from you and more importantly gained much comfort in deciding to go done this path. Was diagnosed about 3 months ago. I am 61, Never have had any symptoms. Also no diabetes, not obese, exercise a lot (did marathons for years and last four years bodybuilding probably both a little hard on my heart), don't smoke, eat well, less than a drink amonth, cholesteral is good (HDL a little low). Was hoping it would go away magically on it's own but seems like it won't. Thanks for the great videos (I have watched and shared a number of them).
I had my ablation performed 1-1/2 years ago and glad I did. Gave me a new perspective on modern heart surgery. I recommend to this to anyone who has second thoughts about the operation.😊
I'm from the UK. Had ablation for tachycardia,(not afib I know), just want people to know that they shouldn't be scared of ablation, I felt absolutely nothing. Just go for it...
I had my ablation two weeks ago in Riverside Community Hospital, Riverside CA. I’m a 74 year old healthy active woman. I was very surprised how comfortable I felt after the 3 hour procedure. Had minimal discomfort at my groin area for two days but no pain. Tylenol was all I needed.
@@Cris-jj6yd Everyone I’ve talked to had the exact experience as I did. It was amazingly easy on my part. When I woke after my 3 hour procedure it was like waking from a nap. They had me lay on my back for four hours because of the catheter going in through my groin (at the bend in my leg). It went very quickly because of TV and watching all of the activity from the nurses in the recovery room. I took 2 Tylenol before bed at 10 pm and slept real well all night. After the procedure I was craving a coffee and after my family picked me up they drove through a Starbucks for a large decaf with cream. Literally that was my ONLY concern for my eventful day. Don’t waste time worrying about it. It’s nothing!👍
@@dianalaycock8003 God bless your precious heart. This really does give me a lot of closure. I’ve been so scared. Honestly, I’ve been praying. I’ve literally gave myself anxiety because I’m just totally scared but I can’t always keep going to the ER to get injected to slow it back down these all started at the beginning of the year but I’m ready to get it over with. I’ve been praying like no tomorrow. This does give me a lot of closure coming from another female like your cell. Thank you so much again Diana God bless you. I will definitely keep you up-to-date. Amen. 🙏🏻❤️🥹
@@Cris-jj6yd Welp, how did your ablation go?? Wish my cardio would agree for me to get one! But at least the low dose beta-blocker is working well for now......
Hi Dr.! Let me start by saying that you have literally helped me kept my ablation appt. that will potentially save my life!! Now, mind you, Im getting my procedure done at NYU by one of the cardiac rhythm program directors, a Yale graduate and one of the best EPs in the country, but your TH-cam video has done a better job explaining the procedure than anyone else could. I’m 41yrs w/ paroxysmal afib, mostly asymptomatic that went from 9% to a current 2% so when my ep recommended an ablation I said yes but was really second doubting my decision thinking it was too early. Thanks to your video I feel much better about going in later this month and hope a quick recovery!!!
Ecellent presentation. My wife was Afib, had moderate stroke and will be transported to rehab. She's on Elliquis 5 mg. /she retained motor skills and can talk,
Just had my ablation done on Monday in Austin, Texas with Dr. Z . He is an amazing amazing amazing DOCTOR and his team today is day five. I feel great. I wish I would’ve did this sooner and anybody that is worried or scared about the procedure don’t be I promise it is something you wish you would have sooner instead of taking meds I couldn’t do it no more because meds was literally making me depressed and too many side effects!!!!!!!!!
Just had an afib ablation. this was extremely helpful in understanding the exact procedure and more technical details. thanks so much for posting. Awesome job.
Thank you doctor - my husband is having an ablation next week at the Cleveland Clinic - top rated cardiac hospital in the country (possibly even the world) - I feel even more reassured after listening to your video.
Doctor, I have been a bit hesitant to even watch your video due to anxiety about needing this procedure. I am a 62-year-old professor, and I believe you have just delivered the best presentation I have ever seen. Your pacing and delivery were excellent. The visual aids helped emphasize important information. Most importantly, you explained all the benefits and risks in a manner that calmed me down. Great job!
Excellent presentation. Had my ablation 2 months ago and describes exactly my experience😊It’s seriously easy and completely painless in the hands of the right surgeon!
Very very informative. I had an ablation 7 years ago, and have a second one scheduled shortly (my AFib comes and goes). I throughly enjoyed your detailed but layman-understandable explanation. Thank you.
I am a new A Fib patient (less than a month), have had A Fib nearly 50 times since. I am scheduled for ablation next week, so ready to hopefully be successful and no more, or a lot less episodes. Thanks Doc.
I'm scheduled for AFib ablation surgery in September. I'm glad because the meds make me tired along with the condition. I got diagnosed in February after getting CVD in January. I pray for successful ablation. I hate being reduced to being homebound cuz I get too tired.
@@garycortesi4414 hi Gary I've not had abalation yet. Having it done in Sept. The doc said they advice most people to carry on taking thinners , if you have other underlying conditions. I hope it works tablets are terrible.dont feel great most days.good luck
Thanks for this really informative video. I have my a-fib ablation this Tuesday. Even though I’m a nurse this explained exactly what’s going to happen & things I didn’t know.
Thanks for the great video. I have shared it with family and friends. I had what I thought was my first AFIB attack February 10, 2023. Horrible experience. I thought I was dying, laying on the floor struggling to breathe. Three hospital visits later, one cardio aversion later, and I am scheduled for my ablation in one week. The afib is accompanied by vertigo digestive issues and ringing in the ears. It is impossible to tell what is side effects of the medication or afib. All this and new high blood pressure. I am hoping if we get the afib under control, the other issues will either resolve or we can then better address them. One interesting thing is all this started after a really bad experience with Covid-19. I'm a normally very active, 70 year old man, hiking, trekking, and other outdoor sports. Hoping for the best with my ablation. 🙏
@@mjaltemus YES. Fully Vaxxed and Boosted! I recovered in a few days without Covid medication such as Plavix, but wound up in hospital a couple weeks later due to bad episode of Afib! Hadn't had to go to the hospital in over 4 years because of Afib and then Bam!.. I Suddenly went into a severe case of Afib after COVID!?😥 I am on a low dose beta-blocker since then and it seems to work well with my chemistry as my Afib has calmed way back down these past few months! Thank Goodness!!😉
My mother may have this done today. Cardioversion done 5 days ago and had another episode. She's been through alot since March. I hope this works today if they do ablation today. Praying 🙏 ❤ im so scared of the risks! Thank you for your video on this. I'm hoping with her issues that this could be done. I hate to hear her so confused and upset that she thinks she's going to die 😔 it makes me so sad But, the doctors say is is doing real good. I'm really stressed and worried. I try to not let her see me " loosing it" but, stay positive. She is 74 and a fighter.
Just came out of second ablation procedure after two cardio conversions failed. I’m not 72. My first ablation was successful since I was 60. It was a very very easy surgery. The second one successfully completed, but feel weak and totally wrung out. I had complete sedation. Only way to go. Did require a back wedge due spasms. I hope I feel better and have started PT. OH, that’s what’s different, all veins ablated, first time just one!!!!! Thank you!!!! PS. I was kept two nights post surgery then sent to a rehab for another week. Now doing PT for a month at home??? Very strange, good questions for doctor as I remember NOTHING!!., Bad shortness of breath and on O2 now. No pain at all that I recall. Did have a fever I’m told. Rehab had me up and going four hrs the following day.
My mother had mitral valve replacement surgery and also ablation and cardioversion...but she still having AFIB episode sometime...she is on medicine for afib and blood thinners..
Hello Dr. Absolutely loved your video… I’m scheduled for my ablation, for April 18, 2023. I’m having it done at the Michael a DeBakey Veterans Hospital. I met with the doctor and his PA and they were really awesome. Made me pretty comfortable. I have paroxysmal AFib so I’m hoping to get in front of it early. I’m 58 no other underlying medical, issues, a little overweight. I was really active befor my AFib, it’s been about 15 months since I was diagnosed with it. Any thoughts or experiences with the Houston VA. Cardiology department? I haven’t read anything negative about them and my experiences have always been really good with a Houston VA and I’ve been going there for 20 years and like I said I love your video please keep them coming. I’m definitely going to check out your book and program as well.. Thx Dr, Joe M
I had a doctor trying to aell this to me instead of a pacemaker. It just sounds to sketch for me so i opted for a pacemaker dispite being 35, i feel its the right decision.
Thank you for explaining this procedure in great detail and discussing all possibilities. It is truly appreciated. It seems that the procedure is similar to the procedure for ventricular tach which is the situation we are dealing with.
Absolutely love all your videos! I'm a little different from most of the folks here. I'm 72 female with Afib that showed up in an EKG in Feb right before a minor procedure. I have my Cardiologist appt next week 4/11/23. It's a scary situation as I also have the blood gene Factor V Lieben and have an IVC. Would so love to hear back from you before I see my cardiologist.
I feel like my AFIB comes after I eat, I feel it in my stomach . Was diagnosed last year, but it does not feel like it last long. Some times I feel it for 5-7 secs . But if it does its usually after I eat
me too! more so if when I eat too much! like over eat!, I was told by a dr that its near the vagus nerve pressing over the stomach so it. maybe be pressing against the stomach,, There should be a study on that, in my opinion
I’m having anxiety watching this. I need them to start the sedation drugs the moment I agree to doing this procedure no way can I be thinking about having this procedure done the entire time waiting on the date to get this done without the Zanax. I do appreciate you sharing this video thank you.
I had a PFO closure device inserted 15 yrs ago after small stroke with full recovery. Doe the presence of the PFO closure device in the septum prevent ablation for atrial fib?
Im going in for cardio version in a weeks time. Ive been afraid but you have explained very cleary for me a layman to understand.Ablation probably will happen at a later date my cardiologist said.Thankyou for this information, have a great summer x
I had an ablation procedure & two cardio versions which did not fix my AFib issue. I went onto to have Afib flutter, which I was schedualed in for another ablation procedure, I was knock out on the operation table but then woken after 15-20 minutes and was advised that as I was in Sinus rhythm they did not proceed with the procedure. After approx a week I was in Afib constantly & every ECG I do with my apple watch shows I am in Afib, heart rate can range from mid 60 - 90. I have an appointment for another ECG & see my specialist.
Now, after having a back to back lithotripsy 7 days apart. During second shock to break kidney stone in pole of kidney area, never happened under anesthesia but my heart went into 180 beats a min! I told anesthesia Dr about Diltiazem stops it just in case! It stopped in 10 to 20 min back to normal was fine but couldn’t finish shocking stone almost finished.
Great video, well done. I got persistent afib in February 2020 and was corrected with a cardioversion October 2020. It stayed in sinus mode until April 2024 when I went into persistent afib with 220bpm heart rate. I absolutely love exercising especially distance cycling, but I cannot do it now😥. The options I think are another cardioversion or an ablation. Can I please ask, which ablation is best for someone who wants to get back into exercising, would it be the RF burning or the freeze procedure. Thank you
Doctor AFib, thank you for the great content! What do you think about RMN cardiac ablations using robots like stereotaxis? Do you have any experience with it? Do you think that we are going to transition to robotic ablations over time?
That was very informative thanks. They zapped me 3 times with Cardio version unsuccessfully. Just waiting on next Cardio visit to see what’s next . Thanks for all your videos.
I’ve had svt for the last few years, never lasted very long, unfortunately last year in November I had a episode that wasn’t stopping, went to the ER and they ended up giving me adenaseen ( I know I didn’t spell they right) since then I’ve been on metropital and have been to the ER 2 more times for the same treatment, last time being this morning, now I’m at this point of what’s next, my doctor is going to try a different medication and I’m going to see the ablation doctor very soon…
What constitutes seeking to have an ablation. I was first diagnosed Aug 15 2023. My heart rate was 176 at one point that I saw. I’ve had a couple mild episodes since then a couple days apart. When would I seek ablation ?
I was told this procedure is just like putting two paddles on you and shocking you they didn't tell me if it would be painful or if I can my pacemaker be affected just because they won't answer my questions I won't have it done
I had an ablation after decades of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. I was being treated with metoprolol, which isn’t a good choice for a-fib but, it helped some. I eventually went into persistent A-fib and needed help. I’m 2 years post-op and doing a lot better but, can’t come off my medication. I’m no longer in a-fib and was taken off the anticoagulant. I don’t think they got it all but, the meds keep it in check. At what point would you recommend another procedure to eradicate it, or would it be advisable to just keep taking the medication. I’m 56 years old and healthier than most 30 year olds otherwise. My cardiologist said there was a lot of misfiring on the back of my heart and even around the valves. What do you think?
What about if you have multiple heart problems? My cardiologist said I would likely need one, but at that time I would be required to be on a pacemaker full time, as my heart would now be unable to beat without one.
Thank you Dr for this video on aFid ablation. Me I had a stroke in June 29th 2019, my friend took me to a heart hospital & they said I had the stroke from aFid. Got there about 4pm & at 11pm same day was transfer to a hospital next door because they said they don't do strokes. Did they do anything about my aFid? No!!! No meds, No shocking my heart in to rhythm Nothing!!! At the other hospital next door the next day the sent me a Neurologist & told me about my brain & my stroke, very interesting. Then they sent me an oncologist because the other hospital found out I had Breast cancer & the Dr told me of my opinion. Did the hospital send the me an cardiologists? No!!! Did they explain what aFid was, No!!! Did they give me any meds for my AFib, No!!! Did the convert my heart to stop aFid, No!!! The only thing they gave me was Eliquis so I wouldn't get blood clots & have another Stroke. I felt good, no feeling of aFid in my heart, no heart palpitations, Nothing at all except a little weakness but I didn't know if that was from the cancer treatmens? I never got a cardiologist because no one said how bad aFid can be on the heart. So I lived going thru chemo & radiation thru covld-19 a the time. I felt OK. Then in 2021 looked for a cardiologist because my body felt different & found one & saw him in 2022 & thru March 2023. He Never gave me any meds for my AFib, I was still my BP meds for my high blood pressure nothing had changed except now I was getting dizziness. He gave me test but he never said Anything was wrong with me, no clue & I felt OK except for the dizziness. Then in September of 2022 my feet started to swelled & normally I would take a diuretic a day or 2 & it would go away. But this time I took diuretic for a week & no change, so I called my cardiologists & he gave me other diuretics. They kinda work but my kidneys started to struggle so we had to tweak the dosage & they have worked. The in February in 2023 I saw my cardiologists & I was leaving & at the receptionist desk & she asked when would l like to have the Holter test? I asked what she was talking about & she told me, Not the my Dr. The Holter was for one day. The next month I had an appt for an ultrasound test & a EKG & then I saw my Dr & he said to me your test were Good, every thing looks good in fact you did better then I thought & then he said Oh by the way you need a Pacemaker or Ablation. My mind said WHAT were did that come from I didnt know what to say. So that was the last time I saw him. I next thing I looked up what was ablation & pacemaker, so I got my medical degree on TH-cam. Ha Ha. I found another cardiologists at the hospital where I went for my stroke & they didnt do anything. He sent me to an electrophysiologists & he told me about ablation, he told me What the hospital should have done in 2019 now in 3 1/2 years from my onset of AFid when I was their for the first time. So I took the meds he gave me for AFib & it didn't work & he did nothing more. I looked on TH-cam & found that long term AFid ablation doesn't work on Long time aFid but works newly Diagnose aFid. Like it does work in the first 8hours after aFid is Diagnose. And found out it does work in the first 8mos & I told him this. So that Dr recommended to a Dr electrophysiologists that does a Hybird Convergent Ablation a type of mini maze ablation & I was told about that surgery. So I Opt for that surgery. The Dr told me about it & because my physician strength was not good I asked him for Referral after the surgery a rehab nurseing home. He said No, that none of his patience went to one after surgery & I would stay in the hospital about one day or 3 days. The surgery day came & the Anesthesiologist came & saw me & said the surgeon will be in. He Never saw me before surgery & yet he knew how scared I was!!! The next thing I remember was waking up in my room in Pain!!! So for the next 2 & 1/2 days all I remember is Pain when I was awake & then Nothing because they gave me drugs to know me out!!! Every surgery I ever had I Remembered Every detail, before surgery & After surgery, from my tonelectomy at 3years old & my breast surgery in 2020!!! But this surgery just remembered Pain, not eating & not going to the bathroom nothing but Pain!!!. So I had questions about the surgery for my Surgeon. So I had an appt with him for the 2 week after surgery I guess for him to check on me. Well he was a Coward because like the surgery he never showed up before the surgery & He didn't showed up at this appt to see how I was doing. I asked the nurse about not seeing me before surgery & she said We Don't Do That In Our Office!!! : ( She couldnt answers any of my questions about the surgery, she said I dont know I wasn't there. I had pain most of my 6mos after the surgery, it was like he did a Spread apart my rib cage to get to my heart??? So the Procedure Hybrid Convergent Ablation didn't work!!! I was supposed to have an regular ablation 8 weeks after & that Dr fired me as a patient. Dont know why. I have been So Scared to do the regular ablation because its only 35% Effective on long-term aFid. Now I'm 79 so my chances are not good that I will have the ablation & it would get of my AFib. But even if it gets me where I had strength & Stamina again like I had in 2019 when I had early aFid. That would be great but my Sub-conscious is not letting me do it. And I'm afraid that the Bruising of my groin area will be so tinder & painfu that I will not be able to get out to bed to go to the bathroom. And I will lie in my filth. I'm poor & cant afford to have someone to come in to help me get out of bed. I live a lone & my friends are my age & they can't get in the car & help me to get out of bed, younger friends work. What to do??? Thank you for reading my woes & Sorry it is so long!!!
Thanks for sharing this video, very informative. I am having a question about the "heart rate high" which happens only when my sugar levels are high - trigger point is dibetic. As long as my sugar levels are normal, I dont get a PSVT problem- heart rate high.. hence, I am looking for advice, as I know in my case, diabetes is the trigger point so whether I should go for AFIB or should control my sugar level?
The hosp car cardiologist just in case but I was feeling fine didn’t want to stay at hosp. I have 2 heart Drs and they watched me over an hr after this happened. So I went home was fine. Day or 2 later or so I got an attack of 188 beats, it also raises my blood pressure until I take Diltiazem 60mg helps my attack starts slowing down after take it. Use to take Digoxin too but it went toxic so no more!
I had 2 ablations 9mos apart bc it came back after 9 mos! So had second one I’m 6 mos in and having kidney stones often had laser and shock to break them. Recently 2 mos stones both sides rare. Went through lot stress and pain now reoccurring afib! Dr raised sotolol from 60 mg to 80mg twice a day. But still couple afibs at home heart went to 175 I take Diltiazem 60mg usually stops it in about hr two slowly going down! Now had afib 9 yrs before ablation, it was kind that come and go once twice a day, sometimes none. I was only in hospital once
Update. Pulse Field Ablations in Europe are taking 20 minutes skin to skin. Hopefully FDA stops dragging their feet and approves these machines that have been approved in Europe for over a year.
I had open heart surgery in 1989 to repair two holes. ASD and VSD repair. My AFib is caused by scar tissue from the surgery in 1989. Now they want to poke a hole in my heart and make more scar tissue. I cannot get on board with this.
Hi, My mother has been experiencing both AFIib and SVT, we actually discovered the AFIB when she was supposed to have an ablation for the SVT. They got her on the table and she was in AFIB, not SVT. So both. Shes scheduled to have both Ablations done at the same time. She's 65 with Rhumetoid Arthritis, and smokes and drinks regularly. I cannot for the life of me find any information about these two procedures being done at the same time. If you have any information about additional risk factors or success rate for patients who treated SVT and AFIB with an ablation in the same procedure, I would REALLY appreciate some peace of mind by being in the know!
I had afib ablated with right side flutter in 2012. But I developed left side flutter in 2021. Its more problematic. I went to Dr Natale in Austin tx 8/6/21. No afib no flutter since. Had covid too. Not vaxed. No meds. 69 fit 5’9 160 lift weights
I used to get Afrib 5 to 10 times a day. Since Covid started I mean scaredemic I would wear a mask just over my mouth and learned to breath through my nose for the past 2 years. Now I only get it maybe once every other week and it’s about a 1/4 of what it used to be. That didn’t heal the hole in my heart so I have to get that fixed.
Can I have a different hospital and doctor do a second oblation the first doctor said it wasn't his problem that the blood pressure went up and the pulse was still 90 after the ablation when the pulse was 55 before the permanent AFib that I've tolerated for 2 years straight the last six months of those two years the pulse was 121 to 136 all day all night for six months straight a few days before the procedure the pulse went down to 80 he was supposed to record the procedure ifor me he did not record
My quality of life has been zero for three years or more.. im getting over 30,000 ectopic beats a day, flutter and poss AF.. it’s horrible, im terrified but my cardiologist just keeps saying i hve to live with it. Its cruel and not right ! Im 47 and cannot do anything.. i have lost 4st because eating sets them off, walking, talking, anything.. im petrified to live yet he has no idea what its done to me mentally.. 😢I have asked to go to another area on the NHS and see a cardiologist but im told i cant do that. How unfair is this. Im sick of lying in bed crying day after day, week after week, month after month. Broken, depressed, suicidal with misery because of these but apparently your QOL doesn’t count as a necessity to do the ablation. Im so done… 😢😢 this isnt living. Im just barely existing.
Have you been actually diagnosed with Afib? It sounds like you have high anxiety? So sorry, but try not to let it control your whole life. I have Afib. I don't like having it one bit, but I don't allow it to dominate my thoughts and my life. Here's wishing you much improvement!!💜

I had an ablation last November 2022 and since then I never had Afib attack. But I'm still taking Amiodarone 200mg 1x a day, Metoprolol 25mg 2x a day, Pradaxa 150cap 2x a day & Ranolazine tab 500mg 2x a day and I don't know what medication makes me suddenly feel dizzy, lightheaded, sometimes nauseas, weak sometimes stomach discomfort and constant constipation! I have a question Doctor? What medication do you think makes me feel uncomfortable or side effects from all of this I'm taking?
Why does your doctor have you still taking all that dang medication if you've had a successful ablation!?? You need to talk to ypur doctor about that! That seems a ridiculous amount of medication to STILL be taking!!!
Omg. They threw them all at you. Get off of them. Metoprol is horrible, amiodorone, predaxa. Will make you dizzy, tired, body aches slow heart rate, zero sex drive, ed. They are the absolute worst meds. Not sure if anything else is wrong with your heart, if not, wean off. Wow. You must have one of those 100% brainwashed protocol docs.
@@vickiterry1877 You should have insurance to cover a procedure like that because that is a real needed procedure. I was lucky enough to go through the VA with mine.
I just had an afib ablation performed. I get to feel the train emfs everytime a train passes by outside from me.. it really blows a chunk. I have a plethora of pvc's and electric shocks. Smh...if my Injection Infarction wasn't so low (10)% I wouldn't have had the ablation and it only cures over 100* to afib but 72-100 tachycardia it doesn't cure which I didn't know. So expect less than half the problem to hopefully go away
I've had two cardio version's and no afib four months now My cardio hospital doctor want's to have ablation at other hospital. Why? I have no more Fibrillation.
Why did you do two cardioversions? Was it because the first zap did not work to keep your heart rhythm in normal - how long did you keep in normal rhythm, before Afib recur after the first zap?
My wife had fast heart rate and was rushed to hospital. There the cardiologist referred her to ablation doctor in the meantime a cat scan wS done which showed she had chronic liver disease for which we were not told The doctor did cardiac ablation and she looked ok but later would sleep a lot. 4 months later she was diagnosed with cirosis of liver and liver cancer Was an ablation was necessary when she was diagnosed with chronic livetdisease was it the anaeesthesia made her liver worse
Thanks for the excellent video and I am hopeful my AFIB days are behind me
Im so envious.. i want my life back.. 😢
I am having the pulse ablation in May 2024. How did yours go? Are you out of AFib?
@@ronpride6616 mine went fine ..... very easy. And no more Afib. Good luck and don't worry.
Hey, how did you manage to contact the Luxembourg hospital for this? And how much was the procedure?
@ronpride6616 so, how are you doing now?
How old were you for the procedure?
@@steveross9459 55
Do you still take heart medication? Are you off all meds?
What's the difference between tachycardia and a fib?
I had my ablation two weeks ago in Riverside Community Hospital, Riverside CA. I’m a 74 year old healthy active woman. I was very surprised how comfortable I felt after the 3 hour procedure. Had minimal discomfort at my groin area for two days but no pain. Tylenol was all I needed.
Thank you for sharing I am 43 and I get mine at the end of the month. I am so scared. This will be my first time having any type of surgery.
/she retained motor skills and can talk,
I pray she's fully recovered 🙏
Was her stroke triggered by her Afib? Sounds scary. Hope for the best.
How is your wife doing? Hope she’s ok.
Thank you Doctor for putting our minds at rest regarding this procedure. Our 30 year old daughter is due to undergo one within the next 2 weeks.
Hello please can you tell me more about the ablation I’m having it soon with doctor Z
Just had an afib ablation. this was extremely helpful in understanding the exact procedure and more technical details. thanks so much for posting. Awesome job.
I'm scheduled to have an ablation in two weeks. Thank you very much for this very informative video.
So how are you feeling after the procedure?
Thank you.
thank you for your kind comment. I am glad you liked it.
I am a new A Fib patient (less than a month), have had A Fib nearly 50 times since. I am scheduled for ablation next week, so ready to hopefully be successful and no more, or a lot less episodes. Thanks Doc.
I
had AFib done 3days ago success was conscious lightly sedated wake felt no pain went home the same day fill good
I'm scheduled for AFib ablation surgery in September. I'm glad because the meds make me tired along with the condition. I got diagnosed in February after getting CVD in January. I pray for successful ablation. I hate being reduced to being homebound cuz I get too tired.
I had covid in January. Started with AFIB in February

Yup. My AFib got much worse after my bout with Covid. That was about 3 months ago. Now we got to hope we don't develop Long Covid!!😓

Great video. I had an ablation in March and am so glad I did! But you mention that it will take about two hours. Mine took almost 6 hours.
Thank you so much for this clear explanation....I found this video while searching for some information for my final year presentation on AFib
Excellent video ...I had an Ablation 3 weeks ago and this video would have been very helpful to see prior to the procedure.
Very strange, good questions for doctor as I remember NOTHING!!.,
Bad shortness of breath and on O2 now. No pain at all that I recall. Did have a fever I’m told.
Rehab had me up and going four hrs the following day.
thank you so much for the enlightening video. I learned so much. I will be having an ablation in about 4 weeks.
Thx Dr, Joe M
hi! just read your comments, are you doing well now? im going in tomorrow at 11 am for ablation, so little nervous
This is my next step, this guy Dr is great, explains everything , and I understand it all lol.
Thank you very much, you covered everything that doctors don't, also you experiences before and after.... Very through...
Thank you so much.
Thanks Doc for the information, this made me feel more comfortable about the procedure upcoming 🙂
My mother could have had this but the doctor never recommended it. And she passed away tears 😢
Mine often does after I eat
me too! more so if when I eat too much! like over eat!, I was told by a dr that its near the vagus nerve pressing over the stomach so it. maybe be pressing against the stomach,, There should be a study on that, in my opinion
I’m having anxiety watching this. I need them to start the sedation drugs the moment I agree to doing this procedure no way can I be thinking about having this procedure done the entire time waiting on the date to get this done without the Zanax. I do appreciate you sharing this video thank you.
lol......for real !
Just have it done by Dr Perrino at Stanford U
I had an ablation procedure & two cardio versions which did not fix my AFib issue. I went onto to have Afib flutter, which I was schedualed in for another ablation procedure, I was knock out on the operation table but then woken after 15-20 minutes and was advised that as I was in Sinus rhythm they did not proceed with the procedure. After approx a week I was in Afib constantly & every ECG I do with my apple watch shows I am in Afib, heart rate can range from mid 60 - 90. I have an appointment for another ECG & see my specialist.
Great explanation. Thank you!
glad you like it !
Thanks. Glad you liked it.
After your cardioversions, how long did you stay in normal rhythm before Afib came back?
I’ve had svt for the last few years, never lasted very long, unfortunately last year in November I had a episode that wasn’t stopping, went to the ER and they ended up giving me adenaseen ( I know I didn’t spell they right) since then I’ve been on metropital and have been to the ER 2 more times for the same treatment, last time being this morning, now I’m at this point of what’s next, my doctor is going to try a different medication and I’m going to see the ablation doctor very soon…
Thanks for the great info
What constitutes seeking to have an ablation. I was first diagnosed Aug 15 2023. My heart rate was 176 at one point that I saw. I’ve had a couple mild episodes since then a couple days apart. When would I seek ablation ?
Would you still need to take Eliquis if you have a successful ablation?
I was told this procedure is just like putting two paddles on you and shocking you they didn't tell me if it would be painful or if I can my pacemaker be affected just because they won't answer my questions I won't have it done
I need this and I’m so nervous
I have an ablation in 4/10 still I have paid even though I have been with heart beating, ect, since I can't walk properly
I’m scheduled for my ablation on 09/20. This was very helpful to me. Thank you. I’ll be flying on 09/29, will this be a problem?
How was your outcome?
I go in to get this procedure done in the next hour. Thank you for this video.
Update?
Thank you Doctor
Thank you for reading my woes & Sorry it is so long!!!
check your magnesium and potassium levels. those deficiencies cause Afib, so does sleep apnea.
Doctor, do you seal the holes you made to get in to the chamber? Why is it worse to wait before getting the ablation?

I hope she had a successful procedure.
so far so good!! They did find her heart to be thickening, she just had an MRI to determine just how thick its become. @@Angeprof
I have SVT also I Diagnose last December and now waiting my schedule for Radio Frequency Cateter Ablation next week 🙏🙏🥺🥺🥺
Update?
How was your ablation?
Thank you for this info.
I HAVE BEEN IN AFIB FOR 1 YEAR--ALSO HAVE BRADYCARDIA---WILL ABLATION WORK WELL OR SHOULD TRY PACEMAKER
Is Atrial Tachycardia the same as Atrial fibrillation?
Hi Doc, does everything in this video also apply to Atrial Flutter? Is ablation effective for flutter? How do Flutter and Fib differ?
Thankyou for this
My quality of life has been zero for three years or more.. im getting over 30,000 ectopic beats a day, flutter and poss AF.. it’s horrible, im terrified but my cardiologist just keeps saying i hve to live with it.
Check out my blog at drafib.com for more information including lifestyle things you can do to improve afib.
Have you been actually diagnosed with Afib? It sounds like you have high anxiety? So sorry, but try not to let it control your whole life. I have Afib. I don't like having it one bit, but I don't allow it to dominate my thoughts and my life. Here's wishing you much improvement!!💜
It's time you start taking your situation in your hands and look for more answers eventually you will find your answers keep moving forward.
@@gloriamaryhaywood2217then u have minor afib. Mine had literally brought me to my knees. It definitely dictates what I can and can’t do. Not all afib is created equal. U have minor cases like yours, a mind sever ones like mine and OPs. This has completely ruined my life. Anywho, I hope my ablation will be a massive success. Cuz this is now way to exist, let alone “live”.
It is real simple to find out if you have Afib. Just get an EKG from your heart doctor. If you have Afib, it show up very clearly on the EKG.
I am scheduled for an ablation August 3 2023 ,, Every medicine for arrythmia was useless and each one left me SOB My Cardiologist Electrophysiologist is using the cold method which I do not understand. really afraid as I am soon to be 77 worried about the outcome
Hi, prayed for you. Hope you had a successful operation🙏🏻
I had 2 ablation and 4 cardioversion. My second ablation was recently and now they want to put in a pacemake, I am still healing from my ablation I feel like they are rushing to soon
After your cardioversions, how long did you stay in normal rhythm before Afib came back?
How much it will cost $$??? Also do you think regular insurance will cover it ??
Yes insurance will cover most of it. I’m getting ready to go through my second one.
@@vickiterry1877 why second??? I thought the first one should help for sure???? Dude make sure they Are not scammers or not mess up your heart
Btw 5000 to 20.000 depending on location. Most insurance will coverage
@@whiteknight7227 d
@@vickiterry1877 You should have insurance to cover a procedure like that because that is a real needed procedure. I was lucky enough to go through the VA with mine.
I have a pacemaker. My doctor won't explain it to me cause he's not the one that will do it so he couldn't explain it to me.
I just had an ablation procedure. I hope that is the last time I will have an AFib. my procedure took 4 hours. is that normal?
I just had an afib ablation performed. I get to feel the train emfs everytime a train passes by outside from me.. it really blows a chunk. I have a plethora of pvc's and electric shocks. Smh...if my Injection Infarction wasn't so low (10)% I wouldn't have had the ablation and it only cures over 100* to afib but 72-100 tachycardia it doesn't cure which I didn't know. So expect less than half the problem to hopefully go away
Are you saying the ablation made your Afib worse than it already was? Did it mess your nervous system up?🤔
Thank you! 🙂
Didn’t work for my mom
My wife had fast heart rate and was rushed to hospital.
There the cardiologist referred her to ablation doctor
in the meantime a cat scan wS done which showed she had chronic liver disease for which we were not told
The doctor did cardiac ablation and she looked ok but later would sleep a lot.
4 months later she was diagnosed with cirosis of liver and liver cancer
Was an ablation was necessary when she was diagnosed with chronic livetdisease was it the anaeesthesia made her liver worse
What can you tell me about The Watchman ?
I would tell you to check out the Lariat procedure too.
My heart doctor said he does not recommend Watchman.
When my heart goes into AFib, I eat jalapeño peppers to put my heart in rhythm.
@@cardiologist3051 I understand your reluctance in trying them. Remember what works for one person may not work for others. I said they work for me.
How were you able to sustain the spice and hotness of eating jalapeño peppers? without causing other problems.
@@jack-lo7vd Jalapeños usually do not cause me problems. If for some strange reason I get stomach issues, I drink 8 ounces of whipping cream.
Another thing I found to help with a mouth on fire, is a bit of table salt.
If you are feeling heat on your tongue do not smoke a pipe or cigars.
