- Introduction to gemstones with emphasis on alternatives to the more commonly known ruby, sapphire, emerald and diamond. This video on gems also looks at some basic concepts that determine value and the origin of gemstones.

I don't like the negative comments about the accent of the narrator. He is from Scotland, and speaks with that accent. I find it perfectly clear. If you don't, it's maybe because you are not used to that accent...(I love this video, thanks for posting. )

I want to start collecting minerals/gemstones and maybe even start cutting my own. Any good forums where I can get some info on this? I have never tried and have no equipment to cut. I have only collected herkimer diamonds because I am 40 minutes from two different mines. Thanks

99% of the worlds population has no idea about the different types of gems. You could wear a tsavorite garnet ring and people would think it was an emerald ring worth £000's if you never tell em the price - they'll never know.
