Oh Dear Deer !! Fight for meal (jackal vs monitor lizard)

This was taken in Kumana National Park Sri Lanka, towards Kumana village. It was a nice area surrounded by water due to rains. Capture was in end Sep 2023. Seems the deer was hunted few days back with the view of its dead body. Here, the jackal was in need of eating it but was sat aside due to the fear for the big lizard. How the food cycle goes. Oh poor deer.. How their live goes on.
