  • Welcome back to the channel
In this weeks video I show you how to replace a transmission pan and do a transmission service on a 2008 Volkswagen golf city with a 2 L motor mated to a six speed automatic transaxle. This is definitely not a complicated job and something that you can do in the driveway provided you have four jackstands to get the car level. I definitely suggest doing it on the hoist as it just makes your life considerably easier. That being said of course if you watch the full video you'll have no problem getting through the job. I hope you find the video entertaining as well as helpful, if you do please hit that subscribe button to support my work.
As always thanks for watching we will see you in the next one...

This video saved me so much money my man, busted the tran pan on my 09 golf city, first car, not very mechanically inclined but this vid is a gem

Thanks for the vid. Very helpful. I'll be tackling this soon as I'm a couple of k over the 60k kms maintenance manual recommendation for a trans fluid flush.
How important is it to keep to the maintenance schedule in the manual for this? There are no issues with the car. Thanks

To be honest it all depends. I would definitely go by the maintenance schedule as most of the cars from that era tend to have a maintenance schedule that is extended. However each individual case is different. It depends on how you drive and how the car is treated overall as to whether you want to replace it more frequently or less. But the maintenance schedule is definitely a decent source of information.

why did it only last 3 weeks? I made a gash on my pan (hit a bump), exact same car.

pulled an engine oil pan on an AUDI yesterday..... 7mm diam. bolts. A first for me.

EDIT: 7mm bolts are new to me, not working on janky cars.

Yeah those are really rare. I can't think of a time when I've actually pulled both off that were 7 mm. I did have a 9 mm once, which of course I had to replace because it was not in the best of shape. Finding one was impossible LOL

Is a 2007 vw jetta 2.5 like this one?

As for the transmission it might possibly be the same. Unfortunately lol I don't know for sure. You may be able to confirm online by cross-referencing the part numbers for both years.

    What’s the fluid capacity?

Not sure off the top of my head. However if you're going to be doing a drain and fill 5 L is more than enough. If you're going to be dropping the pan I would pick up two 5 L jugs.
