    The most straightforward , clear explanation of how to connect and use a hardware synth in Ableton . Brilliant. Wish I’d have known about you a year ago .

    Hello! Thank you for your video, it is very easy to understand what you are explaining, you are very educational and you have good vibes. And yes! Please I need help. I'm a total newbie and I want to make my drum machine start playing the backbeat at the same time I start playing my synth and stop when I stop playing too. As in a workstation but without workstation. And no DAW.
    Is it possible to do that?
    Can that be done?
    Can you do that?

    Very nice video, it helped me a lot but I was trying to do it and my monophonic synth only sounds on one of the speakers, how do I make it sound on both? Thanks!

    Thank you for this video! I've purchased an old Kawai K4 synthesizer but it has 2 audio outputs (L/R) instead of one (like the Novation one in your video). Does that mean I need 2 cables: one going from each output into each of the 2 inputs of my Audio Interface?

    I'm trying to figure out how to use midi, so I can overdub tracks using the BSII. I want to build up a dance track using all sounds from the BSII , but keep all the tracks I record in sync.
    How do I do this?

    Great video thanks. I’m a rookie and when I play the synth I hear it out of L&R but it’s only recording onto the right channel. Any tips?

    I get all that great video what im struggling with is I want my DAW (Logic) to play play my 4 Behringer synths all at the same time but I cant work it out im using a Keystep to put the midi in and I assume I have to assign each of my synths a separate midi channel but thats about as far as I have got

      yep you can use any modern synth as a MIDI controller in Ableton when connected via USB

    2 questions: 1. is it better to use two outputs as a stereo signal if the synth has the option? 2. why did u have to plug the midi cord into ur synth? is it a controller and needed the midi cord as the power supply ? seems unnecessary for midi if ur trying to get the synth sounds recorded from ur synth. that's what i'm trying to do- record the synth's sounds and not use the DAW's sounds via midi. trying to figure out the best way to do that. thanks!

    This was a great demonstration thanks! I am still having an issue. Granted This is the first time I've ever hooked up a synth for recording.
    I bought the behringer um22 and I hooked my arturia microfreak up to it. I was pleased to finally hear at least something but there's something terribly wrong with the signal. I've tried two jacks with the same result. It hisses loudly and when I play the mf, it sounds awful. Just terrible quality, broken and crackly. Any thoughts on that?

    • @Tunelighting
      @Tunelighting  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hmm that does sound strange. I would recommend the standard detective work, try and test the mf with just some heaphones perhaps, then try running some other things through your interface and test different cables. This is the only way to work out which part of the chain is the culprit as it could be any one of the cable, speakers, synth or interface, so you need to figure out which. For me 9 times out of 10 its the cable that causes issues like this.

    • @plunderclat221
      @plunderclat221 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Tunelighting i did. I've arrived at the point where I understand the source of the issue. All the hardware is fine btw. Its the behringer drivers that you have to Select in windows settings. They produce no sound, and windows actually states that when trying to play an mp3 through media player, windows says that there's either no sound device to play it through or there's something wrong with the drivers (behringer ones). I'd need these to work for the behringer usb driver in abelton to give me sound.
      When the behringer driver in ableton is selected, there's a signal from the microfreak and its clean. I can see it in the track monitor. I also recorded myself playing with these drivers set - switched back to my realtek drivers and there was a perfect sample of my recording.

    • @plunderclat221
      @plunderclat221 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Tunelighting the horrible sound was simply a result of having the realtek asio driver selected in ableton, which I'd understand.

      Monitor speakers are connected to the L & R out ports on the Scarlett/audio interface. The Ableton audio preferences part of this video is where you choose where the output sound is going through. Can also have headphones plugged into the audio interface if you want to or into the laptop of course. You could connect speakers to the laptop too via the headphone out, but monitors sound far better coming from the audio interface.
