i restarted my island 3 days ago, and im going for an vintage forest theme, that will be set in early fall time. I really want to keep blathers tent to build an foresty labor with a mini dig side! I already love the idea so much haha! tysm for the video, it was really helpful

I restarted 5 days ago and I haven't been this happy since I received my first switch and game! I always want to have Tom doing the morning news, forever! The very best part for me is the music. It is so much nicer than the upgraded soundtrack! Just soothing and perfect for me. I stopped donating to Blathers at 13, and I do mean stopped, lol. I've been resisting upgrading the Nook tent as well, since I have a second island I just fly over and shop there. Seriously, I haven't been this happy in the game for 2 years! Great video, great and informative comments, thanks to all.

Actually you can still sell stuff at Nook’s cranny if you never actually go into the store. You can sell stuff using the drop off box outside. How this works is because there are 3 requirements for upgrading the shop. 1: It must have been open for 30 days. That first one you can’t do anything about but the other two are where you can do certain things to prevent the store from upgrading. The second requirement is that you need to buy and/or sell the $200,000 bells worth of goods. This is the requirement that Sulky decided to prevent from happening. However, this is the one that makes you unable to use the store if you choose to prevent it from happening. So what’s the third requirement? Well, the third requirement is for Mable to have visited you island at least twice. This one you also can’t do anything about because Mable starts visiting after you build Nook’s cranny… right? This is actually not correct. Mable won’t show up until you’ve went inside Nooks cranny and met her. This means that if you never go into the store and don’t care about Able Sisters you can still use the drop box to sell stuff with this method. With the clothes shop on HHP there really isn’t a need for able sisters. While you can get clothes from custom designs and the Appeal Shop. You can only sell stuff at Nooks Cranny. This in my opinion is the better of the two methods.
Ooooh i am stopping all purchases from nook's cranny from now on! Don't think I've spent/ sold over 200k since i haven't managed to pay off my first home loan yet (in bells). Doing my second island and going for an art deco, watery steampunk city! Kinda like a Piltover/Vauhn situation with a lighter palette and cleaner city on one half of the island, and a grungier, rusty darker other half. I wanted various houses, the museum and able sisters to be in the lighter half and kinda wanted to chuck a dodgier looking nooks cranny in the other half! I'm super glad its possible I'm so inspired aarrgg!!!

If I ever get the courage to restart my game or get a second copy to create a whole new island, I want to make a camping/campsite theme.
Well, that's one of the themes I'm brainstorming.
Now that I know it's possible, I know I can just set up to go to my FINISHED island to shop, catalogue things, get hybrid flowers, and so on. Though I wonder if it's possible to keep YOURSELF in a tent...? And the other villagers...?

Does using the Nook shopping app affect whether the shop upgrades; Or is it purely down to in-store purchases?
I love the smaller Nooks Cranny, but can't deal with never being able to order items again.
She said the able sisters doesn't count so probabaly
@@catsdogswoof3968 Can confirm that purchasing items from the nook shopping app does not cause the store to upgrade. Only the in-store purchases.
And what about Celeste and redd? Wouldn’t that prohibit them from coming as well?
Yes, it will prohibit Redd from coming, but not Celeste.

I'm trying to keep Nook's Cranny in its smaller state. Does shopping at a friend's Nook's count toward the trigger max? Does using the Nook Stop terminal count toward the trigger?
It's the nooks cranny it upgrades itself
You can actually unlock terraforming at the very beginning of the game. You need 2 switchs though. You first have to the a second player on switch 1 and the island representative have to unlock terraforming. Then, as second player you have to advance in the game until you upgrade from a tent to a how. Then you can move to the new switch and you'll be the island rep and start terraforming since the beginning.
One thing that happened to me while doing this, is that even I didn't spend or buy anything from the shop, it automatically upgraded after playing 30 days 😢
So, the problem with all this, is that you should start all this process during a season with a weather that suits your theme. And that's how I got stuck with winter for my overgrown japanese rural village 😢😢😢. I'm considering restarting all over again but without the terraforming
but if you want to keep the original nooks cranny, can you use your shopping app at the ABD?
Does anyone know whether player 2 is able to buy/sell from Nooks Cranny without contributing to the upgrade? Could be a good workaround for people without a second island

I couldn't find answer to my question in comments: I thought that nooks cranny automatically upgrades after 30 days anyway, so does that mean you can't step foot in nooks as well?
fun fact: in the 2.0 update once you build the museum the art exhibits will automatically be put in
i spent so long restarting my islsnd for the perfect map and airport color and placed blathers tent just somewhere cuz i thought u could move it..oh no

Sadly I didn’t know I can’t relocate blathers tent once I put it down. It’s on the beach front since I couldn’t access the back of my island obviously.
But I got two questions!
1. Can I still relocate Nooks shack?
2. Is it possible to keep MY original house tent and not upgrade?? Or must I upgrade my tent to progress and unlock more?
(I know I can make another villager later and keep them in a tent, but how about my first tent?)

Curious - on my previous island, gifting fossils was how I got villagers photos and increased friendship levels. With the tent my villagers are rejecting the fossils. What has been your experience?
Same. They keep rejecting and saying I should donate to Blathers
the game wants you to donate to blathers whether you want to or not but fear not because if you will still buy wrapping paper then you can wrap 2 non-native fruits and get the same friendship points

I'm keeping my nooks cranny small as well and the catalog sales have had no effect on it.

Yes! I have Blathers in a tent and the OG Nook's shack and I have all the shops on Harv's island open.

You can't move Blathers. I'm investigating the Nooks situation, but the logic tells me that it can't be moved either

I've made nooks small and plan to keep it that way.
I was hoping to be able to move it but now I've decided to keep RS services in a tent 😅

@@catsdogswoof3968 I just look for it on Google and it appears to be that if you don't get the museum building Redd won't show up because he does it once blathers ask you to get him paintings to open the art gallery.
