Any sub with that type of surround is a winner in my book. I hate those toilet seat surrounds that take away so much effective cone area. They're definitely some beauties.
Amazon had the 15 inch version for $127 each during black Friday sales. Got 2 of them, so i got an insanely loud sound system, and they hit all the notes pretty good. And its on low power maybe 1500 watts divided between 2, but i hardly get any voltage drop with stock alternator. Much better than when a had a single hdx3 15 😊
Those surrounds are called tall roll . The concern id have is the motor of 120oz ... Compare to a skar ddx12 same price but 202oz motor ,2.5 coil ,8 inch spiders and the motor has drilled holes for coil cooling .
I have to of these in a custom ported box tuned to about 36hz with a JP8 amp running them at 1ohm. About to replace the JP8 with a JP13 amp because I feel they need more power 😎👍🏾
As you know I loved the gladiators. And they are both good just different. The gladiators were very tight and slappy bass…. A little drier. The BD are smoother and warmer sounding with more excursion and they hit the lows a little better. Both are great just different. Both are very good sounding musically and both handle over rated power.
I thought you were going to take the TS parameters again after you rode around with them. Crazy price and surprised a 20lb sub didn't fail with that testing.
That’s a rough one they are both awesome subs. I think the XR aren’t as musical accurate as far as transient response goes. These sound a little more accurate with fast busy bass but to me they sound pretty similar. The XR are proven to be a solid well built sub. Time will tell how much abuse the BD can take . But both great but for $129 right now in Amazon you can’t beat these.
So question? Do you think these would sound good and be louder if i switched from the current 3.5 cu.ft per sub i have now to 5.5 cu.ft per sub enclosure tuned to 28hz ? They get low and sound great up to about 50 hz right now and very loud but just wondering if you think the bigger enclosure would be better.
I pulled thr trigger on the 15" version of these black diamonds last summer hoping they would be somewhat good and like you i was pleasantly surprised so i bought 2 more and now have 4 15s in my trailblazer on a bass 5k and im very happy with how they sound they have punch but also hit the lows and have takin the 5k this whole time without ever gettin stinky as of yet.. this spring i think im gonna wall them
What about your enclosure makes them SQL? I hate how I can’t get my SI SQL 12” to be loud in a sealed box (tried multiple volumes) and I tried a 2 ft3 ported box and it’s just too boomy for me.
A lot of it depends on the sub specs itself as far as building a box. Then you decide the best port area, tuning and volume for either sq or SPL. But a lot of this is personal preference.
I’m not sure if a $250 sub is “budget” necessarily. But definitely a lower end price range. Budget makes me think about Jensen subs at Walmart in 1995.

Yeah, I had plans to eventually build a set of subs from scratch and try and get some sundown cones basically because of the surround.

Cool video!! I have actually been wondering about these subs for a while now! Nice to finally see an in-depth video on them!
Glad I could help!

Yooo that’s a bad a$$ basket on those bad boys! 🔥🔥
Those are sick looking subs
Avatar stu 1546?? Savard high output 15?? Great video dude as always.
Thanks brother I will keep those in mind!
What are your thoughts, skar svr
or these?
They are both good but I like these better. More excursion, a little better transient response and I feel like the hit the lows better.
awesome you got me sold cant wait for them to get here
Anytime and thank so much for watching
In comparison to the Audio Legion Gladiators, how well do these Black Diamond subs stack up?
As you know I loved the gladiators. And they are both good just different. The gladiators were very tight and slappy bass…. A little drier. Sorry man I just forgot
@@HiFiVector Not a big deal, I was just curious.
how would you compare these to the American Bass XR12?
That’s a rough one they are both awesome subs. I think the XR aren’t as musical accurate as far as transient response goes. What do you think about these in a HiRez SQ system ?
At $130 on sale if you look around price compare. There great looking sub that performs good. At $200 plus each I think there a hard pass
$129.99 link in description at that price they are a Gem.
Can you review the slaps oblivion 12?
That’s actually a decent looking sub
My Radio Shack 12's hit hard too before they blew up

What size are your subs?
@@HiFiVector 15s. Ds 18 says no they won't work apparently.they said 3.5cu.ft per sub according to them. But idk
Which brand has cleaner bass? CT Sounds, DD Audio or Hifonics?
You can’t say what brand really because every model sub is different. Subs from the same company can all sound completely different.
So do you recommend these over the Audipipe TXX-BD2-12 sound quality?
They are both great but the black diamond are smoother and a little more musical.
Hi what your electrical on truck , hi output alternator & from where thanks
400 amp alternated ,huge high end AGM up front and 40ah LTO bank in back of course multiple runs of OFC wire.
@HiFiVector thanks so much for replying. where you bought alternator ,how big amplifier. Thanks
Curious to know what your setup is in here Truck?
**sorry if you've already shared a video of it
400a alt. Very large AGM under hood and 40ah LTO bank.
Good looking subs
Did you have the Smart Bass 5 running them at 2ohm or 1 ohm??
1 ohm
Nice they look nice.
Those are good looking
locked in
Are they better then the American Bass titans? Those subs surprised me with how low and punchy they got.
Should be pretty similar,.specs and woofer is similar altho, the titans have larger motor so they should hit/punch alil harder.

Currently pushing the SQL 12 in a 1ft3 sealed on 2200 clean watts.

check my links on video one of the links the price is around $140 unless price changed.
@@HiFiVector would two of these sound good in a sealed box on a 2000w RMS amp? And still hit those lows nice?
