I used to be in the Birmingham Zulus back in the 80s and early 90s. I got banned from every football ground in England and Wales for one year. Great times. I've grown up now though and I don't get involved anymore.

Bristol Rovers were good way back in the 70's the Tote end lads were game, and were on a level with Bristol City until City soared ahead after staying in higher divisions for longer.
Wrexham were never any good in 70's and 80's, Swindon surprised them on a midweek night match and ran riot afterwards, well documented.

I had quite a few Gas and Sh!t mates when I worked in Bristol, they're nuts. General consensus who they rated back in the day were Sunderland and Newcastle. Mind you, one young lad (I forget anything about his name or what he looked like etc. in my old age) got a bit too giddy on the 'rep' he assumed for sparking out a filth with a sly shot (fair play all the same). As if I didn't know he's a fairy, he started lobbing stuff at me across a pub when he's with his mates. I didn't hesitate to walk over on my own, my mates followed but I didn't need them, put a stop to his rudeness and every fecker fell about laughing.
There was a few like that. Same all over, I guess. Not everyone can be a 1%er.
Even today bristol rovers gas could run anyone in div 1.with the exception of brum.and even then would stand their ground.
@@TOP.FOX. The thing is with birmingham, all we only want is a good sing song and a piss up now. You won't get any lads out looking for a scrap. The Rangers army came to Brum last night and there wasn't any hint of trouble and they stayed out in Digbeth and town till late into the night. A big zulu presence around Digbeth but all the Scots were friendly and acted like gentlemen. They will be welcome back any time they like.

Lincoln should be at number 2, behind the Zulus, loads of people have come unstuck there. You should do current league 2 teams, some good firms over the years in there, Carlisle United BCF, Port Vale VLF, Bradford City Ointment, Chesterfield CBS, Swindon Town STAB, all those mobs had a good reputation during the 70's 80's, when it mattered, Carlisle were massive in the England scene.

Replying to comment on Carlisle border city firm and England, I remember when they took 350 fans on there own to Harmon park, and remember Killington lake services when 3 battle buses from Carlisle came across Scotland fans on there way to Wembley, terrifieing scenes , which saw multiple Carlisle fans jailed for years
I supported Aldershot until they went bust,and watch the phoenix club now and then (its just not the same) but I have wondered for about 20 years now about the Conference semi final P/O we had v Carlisle. I'll be 100% honest-Aldershot never had any sort of firm-just enjoy making a load of noise!- and any aggro was down to Portsmouth fans coming to settle scores when we played Sheffield Wednesday /Blackburn or the like (this in the 70's) There was a group of Pompey fans that came from Bordon-about half way between Portsmouth and Aldershot-who I guess were in the Pompey firm(there was a huge bloke-Tony?) and looked at Aldershot as their young fellow Hampshire brother that needed looking after or whatever. ANYWAY, in that P/O semi v Carlisle there were a few running battles between the Portsmouth mob and Carlisle fans-they were definitely Pompey.they didn't hide it. I have never known what it was about-Aldershot had no problem with Carlisle but-as ever-get it in the neck thanks to Pompey fans enthusiasms /squabbles with other sides firms. Have you any idea what the hassle was over ? I know Carlisle were a solid second 2nd/3rd tier side with Portsmouth but that would have been years before that P/O (2005 I think it was)and they wouldn't have met for decades-was it some old gripe? Or had they just agreed to have a barney for the sake of it ? Only been to about a dozen Shots games since. All very peaceful with everyone making a huge din on the East Bank !

30 years ago and more when blues were last in this league we had big battles with Bolton especially. Other ones that stand out were Grimsby, Stockport and huddersfield. Darlington were the only ones that turned up without fear at Birmingham and did anything of note. they had a very keen 30 or so, back in 1991. Bristol city and cardiff had good crews out, in 89 but that was about it. Every other team bottled it.
I remember when you came to grimsby and the trouble near the docks when Birmingham came off the train no police were there for at least 15 minutes
@@wayneburton4499 full respect to Grimsby, we saw what happened to Stoke when they visited you and we knew we'd have to bring a crew and to expect a warm welcome. After the match it was lively again when we all made our way round to the main road. We broke away from the crowd when some Grimsby attacked a blues fan with his missus in the car with him. We chased them off down a terraced street and got ambushed by a sly 30 or so more of your lot. We fought our way back to the station and we're on the back foot pretty much all the way there. I think it was around April 1991.
Hartlepool gave us similar treatment when we went up there the next season.
A few Bolton were bullied by a big mob, took a beating and had their transport smashed at St Andrews in December 1990 and then that set off a grudge between us that got quite nasty during the rest of the 90's

@@DanishBacon555 Bristol Rovers next home match after that 9-0 thrashing was Millwall, Rovers won, and the game featured on that famous Millwall panorama documentary, shows millwall getting run out of the tote end, the gas bit, is from the massive gas works that used to be next to the old Eastville stadium.
@@Busybee65 - Some say Harry the Dog went in single-pawed and got thrown out by one geezer. Don't recall the name but I played football against him when I worked in Bristol. He was still a local legend for that 15-odd-year-old anecdote. He could have simply thrown a stick for Harry to fetch but that probably wouldn't have been as memorable.
