- Until recently, religions had a monopoly on heaven. But religion has a new competitor: dataism. The belief that ultimately everything, including life itself, is nothing more than data.
The promise is a programmable paradise, where artificial intelligence can give us eternal life, happiness and beauty.
What does dataism mean for the future of religion and spirituality? And can it offer us, in addition to numerous practical blessings, meaning? Filmmaker Hans Busstra, who left the church as a reformed minister's son, searches for meaning and spirituality in the tech age.

Technology is an industrial ability and a tool that is co-opted in service to the regressive reactionary authoritarian theocratic self-interested state (i.e. human tribalism and oligarchy), which tool is captured in service to militarism, and authoritarian escalation in the evolutionary arms race; serves the systems of structural violence that maintain state hierarchy, stratification, and oppression; serves the profitability of capital; and lastly, provides the techno-utopia excuse for the liberal technocratic and ideological fundamentalists to hide behind, to protect their class status, and to maintain the status quo.
Science finds itself in the same situation; tools of enlightenment and sustainability condemned by legacy instinctive biological phenomenon to serve regressive reactionary authoritarian theocratic social Darwinist and psychopathic self-interested tribal, state, and individual myopias. A mindless indifferent natural selection system and instinctive situation of self-interested growth-model authoritarian escalation, fated to compete itself to abusive Lifecycle Empire insolvency, resource exhaustion, and environmental degradation premature extinction. Alas, never to attain the wisdom to override these legacy instinctive authoritarian compulsions with a cognitive-based alternative system, which reverse engineers Homo sapiens in sustainable homeostasis with environmental determinism.

Funny thing Sophia is the Gnostic creator of the universe. If u understand what Gnosticism is trying to hide u can see exactly what this technology religion being mentioned here is really about. Gnosticism is just a cleverly disguised form of Satanism that stems from Luciferianism. Luciferianism is just more palatable form of Satanism. Basically its the idea that Lucifer is the god of this world he is the good guy who wants you to be free to do as you wish without the chains that god has put on you. Just saying Devil worship would raise eyebrows and it just kinda turns people off. Its really no different from this technology religion being proposed here or the the modern view of science proves there is no god therefore worship the science. Whatever it takes to denounce faith while getting the masses to unknowingly or sometimes knowingly worship Lucifer.
@@crazyjhey8050 Have you studied true Gnosticism? As someone who has, I can tell you that you have a misunderstanding if you believe that it is rooted in Lucifarianism. It is not. Lucifer is a fallen angel. He is basically the opposite of Jesus. They are both referenced as the "light bearer" or the "morning star". Gnostic teachings reveal that both Lucifer and Jesus are from God. Both "good" and "evil" are from God or "of God." That doesn't equal Lucifarianism. It is a complex concept to fully comprehend that takes much inner seeking to fully grasp hence the "hidden" nature of many Gnostic teachings. There is one source energy that encompasses All That Is. Everything is from God. We have free will to choose whether we align with good or align with evil. Gnostics do not "worship" Lucifer nor Jesus. They seek to know God (Gnosis--Greek word for Knowledge). They study the secret teachings from Jesus and Essenes as well as Mary Magdalene and the Kabbalah (among other ancient lineages). Lucifarianism has corrupted these same teachings to serve it's purpose...like Lucifer himself whose knowledge of the Divine was corrupted by his own ego and his lust for power and control. He defied God and stopped co-creating with God and instead, sought to carry out his own will rather than the will of the Divine. Hence he fell to become the Lucifer we know as the "devil". So it's actually the reverse of what you think, Lucifarianism is just misguided knowledge from Gnosticism and other ancient lineages. (It's only half of the picture.) Similarly, Christianity is only half the picture. Gnosis is the totality...the wholeness of God (both dark AND light..demons AND angels.) True disciples of Gnosis seek to co-create with God and carry out Divine will (which also aligns with the will of the individual). If you do not truly know the Divine power of God that lives within you (all humans are part of God) than you seek to carry out your own selfish will that aligns with Lucifer rather than God. We actually live in a VERY Lucifarian world. So in truth, he does rule this realm because the masses blindly align themselves with selfish living and the ways of the devil. Until we reach critical mass of humans realizing their Divine potential and that God is INSIDE US.... we ARE ALL God...then Lucifer will continue to have dominion over the earth. We must cast him out. Collectively.

My first introduction to Bernardo Kastrup. Now almost 2 years later, I know that matter is not fundamental. Though many scientists, like Max Plank, came to this conclusion long ago, Bernardo got my ball rolling.
Yes, the last couple of chatpers of the Revelation do indeed resemble some kind of transhumanist upopia such as Kurzweil and others have imagined. When I first read it, at age 12 (in 1964), TBH I found it quite horrifying. Now, my feeling is more like: Well, who knows what it will really be like? But something like that, in some broad sense, really seems to be approaching.
And those who worship or give into it will burn in the lake of fire.
12-year old you was correct - it has the potential to become a horrifying nightmare. I hope that the more relevant Revelations becomes to people's lives, the more will appreciate its prophetic power and choose to accept Christ as their saviour.

I think this is a sensitive topic, and I like that people are asking questions and hypothesizing. It looks like we are watching a Sci-Fi movie where AI guides our future and opportunities, but thinking that programs and software are everywhere it feels a little scary the merge of technology in city life.
