Just did my starter today. Going from under was not an option and neither was jacking the engine. Your video was the only one I could find that came from the top. Thank you for your time making this video. It helped so much. Side note to anyone that sees this comment GET A RATCHETING 13MM WRENCH! YOU WILL NEED IT FOR THE BOTTOM BOLT especially on a chevy trax
Nice video, you did a lot of work on this and you sure made you some room to work. Now me I jacked the car up and put it on stands and then worked a bit on top and a bit from the bottom and the only thing I took off was the starter itself in about a hour and a half counting jacking up the car. But my god man you sure did a fine job doing a bunch of this and that PLUS taking the starter off. Oh,, and for the top bolt its the easiest of them, from the top just go to the back of the engine below the intake and I used a flash light to look down through the intake holes at the bolt and put the socket right on the bolt with a 2 inch extension and wrench and La, La that's all there was to it, off it came. But it sure was something watching you go through all that fine work taking off everything.
Thank you for the helpful video! Although I managed to actually take it out from the bottom a bit of a hassle only with the last top bolt it wouldn’t turn. I stayed under for awhile just tryna use a wrench to turn it. And no luck so I did more research and I bought a metric impact swivel socket set and the 13mm swivel socket did the job! It came right off it was a miracle. Mine was a Chevy 2014 sonic 1.4 turbo charged
This is a great video. The reason I watched it is because I have a 2018 Cruze 1.4 turbo and I have to replace the oil pressure control solenoid and the dealership mechanic told me I would need to take the starter off as it is behind the starter. Can you confirm that for me ? I have searched so many videos but not much on 2018 Cruze turbo engine info.
I am not familiar with the 2018 , I know there is an oil pressure switch on the starter side of the engine , but not sure about the oil pressure control valve. Wish I could be more help.
