- Henri Casadesus wrote his Symphonie Concertante for himself and Edouard Nanny, the famous french bass soloist and author of a bass method still in use today. They travelled all over France as a duo, playing everywhere with local musicians and orchestras. This piece was probably written for such occasions. Haruko made a pianoforte arrangement , and this is actually the World Premiere of this new arrangement of a charming and fascinating 3-part double concerto of which we present the first part here. The performance was part of the Autumn Concert of Ensemble Per Questa Bella Mano in Brussels' Protestant Church.
The Viola d'Amore is a copy after Leclerc, Paris and was made by Belgian gamba maker Pierre van Engeland. The bass, tuned in Viennese Tuning, is by Hack from Hannover, 1952. Bows by Jerôme Gastaldo. Kimiko Nishi is playing a pianoforte by Mc Nulty.
The piece will be featured on our upcoming CD with Ensemble PQBM, along with works by Hoffmeister, Haydn and Mozart (KV 612).
Our first CD, "ALIVE" (on ROUGH RECORDS) with works by Ariosti and Sperger is available through our blogspot duosweet17.blogspot.be
Thanks for watching !
