Perhaps the litter was so comfortable, he enjoyed digging in it? Also, I’ve heard litter liners can be uncomfortable if cats’ claws tear into it. Just something to watch for. Great review!
I’ve been trying SY for less than a week now. I still have the old litter box available, with equine pine pellets. SY: on the positive side, the odor control and clumping are quite good. It’s more comfortable on his paws than pine pellets (the reason I’m searching for a new litter…he has suddenly developed “sensitive paws”). On the negative side, I can’t see the waste, so unless I happen to see or hear him use the litter box, I have to go digging around for stuff. Not an issue with the pine litter. It tracks like crazy!!! I’m using much more of it than I’d have thought. It’s in a 21x15” container, I poured in the whole 13lb bag, and it’s halfway gone, after less than a week.
I'm switching from pine to clumping litter for the same reasons plus the fact that pine litter didnt have any feces odor control for my cat. After trying out some new litters, I have come to the conclusion that literally all of them require a litter mat and that arm&hammer baking soda especially helps for the smell
Thanks so much for doing this review! I was looking high and low for this kind of video a couple months ago and ended up buying walnut shell litter + corn cobb litter and mixing them together. The mixture is okay overall but after seeing this I may give Sustainably Yours a try sometime soon!! ❤️
This is by far the BEST litter I have used. Pine pellets are great , for humans ( it’s cheap and no tracking ) but imagine yourself stepping on pine pellets when you’re going to take a shit ? No thanks I care about my cats not to let them walk on that it is horribly sharp on their sensitive paws. Sustainably Yours is great!
I completely agree AND wood dust causes cancer in humans so how do u think tiny cats with tiny lungs would do with that? NO THANKS! You made a good choice.
I don’t think it bothers my cat’s paws at all, but I have other issues with the pellets. I’m scared to use grain based litter though because I feel like that’s just an open invitation for grain mites and other pests to take up residence with you, and that would be a nightmare. Maybe less of a possibility in a single family home vs. an apt but I still am so hesitant
I bought this litter with the notion my cat would appreciate a finer, softer litter to step in and out of after her surgery. She just came home a few days ago from getting her arm amputated so i was worried she would feel more sensitive to the litter while adjusting to being on 3 legs now. So far she likes it, i dont have any problems with tracking (yet) but i think thats because she didnt stick too long in the box-- heck shes never actually covered her business now that i think about it. The only thing i was surprised by was how huge the urine clumps were. It clumps super well but i think ill have to take out the clumps sooner rather that later because i have a robot cleaning box and the clump size is just much too much for the contraption to hide in the little compartment. Its not an issue for me i suppose, as long as shes more comfortable.
My cats go crazy digging with new cat litters too. It seems to coincide with them approving of the cat litter (not preferring another kitty litter box). I think it's their way of showing their excitement about it, like "At last! You finally got rid of that other crap!" Pun intended.
The excessive digging could just be because of the fine texture. I haven’t tried Sustainably Yours but we tried a similarly sand-like litter and my 1 boy went nuts thinking the litter box became his personal sandbox. He’s not normally a digger and hasn’t repeated the behavior since switching, so I chalked it up to the unique texture.
Really appreciate your & Gordon's reviews of this litter❤️♾️❤️ We're about to bring home 2 new adoptees so the information you've provided is super helpful! 😊
Great review! Thank you for your insight. Purchased a bag the other day and am hopeful my cat will “approve”. I’ll put out a larger litter mat to hopefully contain the extra tracking. Gordon is an Icon! He is so freaking adorable 🥰
DO NOT flush cat litter or cat shit without asking your sewer service if it's okay. Cat shit has pathogens that most water treatment centers don't treat, which can cause disease outbreaks. On top of, this most drainage systems can't handle cat litter, even the "flushable" kind (or wet wipes for that matter). Dealing with disease outbreaks and sewage clogs is not sustainable. It is possible that your sewer service is able to deal with these issues, but you NEED to ask them before attempting it, it's unlikely that they can handle it. Right now the best way to deal with cat litter is to get a compostable kind and compost it, but keep in mind you CAN NOT use that compost to grow food. If you're lucky, your yard debris service will accept pet waste (DON'T assume they do, email them to make sure) in which case you can get a compostable litter and put that in your yard debris. If you're extra lucky, they'll also accept bioplastic/compostable plastic and you can put the cat waste in a bag of that. Also just because they accept one type of bioplastic doesn't mean they'll take all types. For example, my yard debris service can only compost BPI-certified plastics. If composting isn't an option, your best bet is to get a cat litter that isn't harsh on the earth to collect/manufacture and then throw it away with the cat waste in a tied plastic bag (ideally one that would've been thrown away anyway). In this case, it may be better not to get a compostable one, as is it won't compost in a landfill but instead break down into methane, which is worse than CO2 for climate change. In the future pet waste composting will probably be available. Hopefully, that's not too long away.
@Yeraldina Soto .. Thanks for your suggestion of boxie cat! ... I saw SY and thought about making this switch from Dr. E... BUT AFTER SEEING BOXIE CAT VIDS IM STUCK! 🤣🤣🤣 . I may just grab boxie.. keep them used to the granules. I surely can't find a video compare on the two either.... Thanks again!!!
I use both. I have some boxes with boxiecat and others with SY. Both clump really well! SY is dust free but tracks (it’s like having sand everywhere) but boxiecat has dust but less tracking.
Thanks for the great video. I have been trying to find a dust free litter. I'm using Tidy Cat Fresh Clean unscented and it gets dust all over my house. I mean ALL over the house and tracking is bad also. I did try the Tidy Cat Strong version and it was a lot better, but cost much more. I'll keep looking...thanks again for the video.
Hello. Thank you. I found this on Amazon and ordered a bag. Pretty litter was ok but I saw some sticking to the litter robot. So I decided to go with this instead. I thought pretty litter was clumping which is isn't. I will be getting it Thursday. Jackson Galaxy is selling for over 20 for a 13lb bag plus 13 for shipping. Cost was almost $50 which to me is insane.
Hello. Thank you for the review but do have a question. My one cat was recently diagnosed with asthma and believe the clay litter was the issue. So wondering what your thoughts on this for a cat with asthma or if you have any videos on this topic. Thank you 🙏 Jessica 😊
Thanks for your review. If you don't want so much tracking, they have a bigger rain type formula that is supposed to reduce treading. Also, I noticed that you have a bag in your litter box. Jason Galaxy recomends that you do without the plastic bag because your cat's claws could get stuck inside the bag. Perhaps it was trying to release its claw from the bag and when your cat did so, it accidently flung a chunk of coated litter. Hope this helps! 🤔😉
I just switched to this litter and my cat is definitely digging more than usual than his previous clay litter. The tracking is unfortunately very annoying even with a large mat
@We'reAllAboutPets I have a Maine Coon...so a lot of urine at once. I just purchased a bag of Naturally Fresh; however, I am hearing reports of less than stellar clumping. Question: I wonder if the Sustainably Yours cat litter could be sprinkled in with the Naturally Fresh (walnut) litter to aid in clumping?
I am Kathy from AAST - a pioneer in manufacturing sustainable and high-quality tofu cat litter in China. Our product is engineered to offer excellent odor control and easy clumping, promising a cleaner and fresher environment for cat lovers. We would be thrilled to have you explore the benefits of our product, and perhaps make your own brand shine. I am confident it would be a hit!
No you really need to take that garbage bag out. That’s why your cat is flinging it across. He’s nails are getting stuck to the bag n he’s trying to free his nail. I am surprised you didn’t know that.
my thoughts exactly, like why in the first place do you have those unnecessary litter liners that are so messy and cats can get their claws stuck in and tear the bag apart? that is why the cat is digging so much!
My cat will dig like he is trying to find a treasure when I change the weight of the litter I was using. That might be why your cat was throwing it out of the box.
that’s a cat not a “kitty”-🤓 even if it was a KITTEN, that’s what you call it. A KITTEN. Because that’s what it’s called. You’re the type of person to call vegetables “veggies” 😹

I love this litter, but a little bit expensive for me. So i decide to mix this and crystal litter. And works really good .

Yeah I keep trying to figure it out as well. Their sets look almost identical

SY was recommended by my local pet store. My kitties seem to love it. No problem with transition from clay litter.

I Never flush litter.! Not Good.
Boxiecat and SY are suppose to be the best quick clumping litters available.
Could you make a side by side comparison of the two?

Do you still use this SY? I’ve been using it and am unsure if I should continue or try a new litter for my cat. Please let me know!!
For me, this is by far the best cat litter I've ever had.

Cassava is one of the most sustainable crops in the world so brand name checks out
I just switched to this litter and my cat is definitely digging more than usual than his previous clay litter. The tracking is unfortunately very annoying even with a large mat
What's an effective scooper to go with this fine litter?
I use a reptile metal sand scooper. Works great

My cat did the same thing when I first used it. He kept digging and digging forever
Is it okay for kittens?
I Never flush litter!

is it work with automatic litter box
“Soft sand” sounds like it’s going to be a tracking nightmare.
I live in New Jersey and I Never flush the litter.
My cat kicks less with Garfield corn and cassava litter. Haven't tried this one.

I don't use a liner and both my cats do the same thing to this litter.
@@davidhuston495 same - my cats do this with worlds best litter which I don’t really like, will change soon

Corn can be allergenic
Not a problem for most cats. They are in almost all of the dry foods
I NEVER FLUSH CAT LITTER !!
I Never flush Litter!

Tried this litter and it smells terrible
Please do you kitty a favor and take these liners off the box. It's so messy cause their claws will get stuck in it and it's reallt annoying for them.

Also if he is flinging it the trash bag in his litter box may be the answer…
Tracks EVERYWHERE No more
I said no to this litter when I seen how it tracks 🙃
...not clay & casava, it's CORN & casava...✌️
she corrected it goofball
Why are you using a garbage bag for the litter box? That’s more human convenience than your furry friends use.
