@@eden9544 Yes, Kitty Sift is compatible with Pretty Litter. You would simply sift the litter and poo waste instead of scooping. We have 2 of the stainless steel box with the extra high walls that is optional. The box is incredible and forever lasting. Unfortunately, one of our female cats loves to see how high she can toss litter everywhere, so unfortunately litter escapes. If they had it completely closed in, it would be a 10 out of 10. Worth the $.

@@AllAboutCatsYT I too like your videos! However I think the convenience of the Litter Robot gets overhyped and people forget that what we see in the litter box is an indicator of health. Cats hide pain and illness well, so being able to catch diarrhea, bloody stool, or urine early could save your cat's life or prevent further discomfort.

Purchased a xl stainless steel pan because of this video. I love the box. No smell gets trapped in it. I’ve had zero issues with sticking. Cleaning is easy peasy. As soon as I set it up my cat jumped right in to use it. I won’t have to purchase a new one yearly. The only negative is when she covers her mess the claws against the pan is like nails on a chalkboard 😵‍💫 but I’ll never go back to a plastic box.

Tip for using a shifting litter box: hold both boxes together, making a separation between the two of them with your fingers, and then shake! That way there will be (almost) no scatter. The trays need to be quite light, though

@Cajunomics currently we have a high back/ side XL litter box. We also bought washable adult pee pads, usually for elderly or disabled adults with incontinence issues. They go under the pans. I have 2 indoor cats and what I do for smell, scatter control and easy cleaning are feeding them a raw diet, use recycled clumping paper litter with a covered jumbo catit litter box. Ive used the litter box for about 3.5 yrs now and do a total wash every 3 to 4 weeks. The box still looks new and works well.
Raw fed cats have an almost odourless poo and pee. Their stool is also firm and dry which does not stick to the litter box and almost never stain.

Just wanted to say that I was previously using pine litter and found the PeeWee EcoMinor litter box works great, it was the best one I found and is made specifically for the pine litter. You don’t have to take the trays apart to do the sifting, you can just shake it a bit of run a scoop through and the sawdust just drops into the bottom section. You just scoop the poop out of like you would with a regular tray and then empty the bottom tray about every 5 days depending. It also had a removable lip to stop litter flying out when digging and I barely had and scatter. The tray it easy to clean With a hose or shower. They also make a larger size which I think is called Peewee EcoGrade, and some covered versions. Also if you end up changing the type of litter you use in the future, you can still use the tray and just remove the sifting part. (I have recently switched switched to a corn based litter as my cat seemed to be getting unhappy with the pine, I think because it’s quite chunky under the paws)

Best litter box in the world, a drywall mud mixing tub from Lowes. $6.88, large enough for all cats to fit properly (1.5 times the length of the cat!), and if you actually fill it, you'll never have to change out litter again. It will fit 60 pounds of clay litter (about 20 pounds of wheat litter) and all you need to do is scoop and top off. I had mine for 5 years, and only now changed it out because I switched to the wheat litter.

The omega paw easy fill n roll is by far the best litter box we’ve ever had. Having 4 cats, it starts to really be a pain to scoop everything 2 times a day. With the omega paw roll litter box you just roll it upside down and all the waste and clumps go inside a skinny pull out drawer which also conveniently fits right into any bag even if it’s a very small poop bag made for dogs. It takes literally 10 seconds to do. Sometimes there will still be some stuff in the main litter if it is more fresh pee or poop that isn’t clumped up all the way yet but then you just scoop that one piece out or just roll it one more time. We have two of these in our house and it has made cleaning and emptying the waste in the litter box a breeze. I highly recommend this litter box! It’s basically a simpler more affordable take on the automatic cleaning litter boxes but those can be too engineered and complicated and malfunction or cats won’t feel comfortable in them and be scared of them and not go to the bathroom as often as they should. This one takes any electronics out of the equation. Also it’s very light even with the litter filled to the max line and it’s super easy to roll since they rounded the edges where you are supposed to roll it upside down. No point in getting these old design litter boxes that you have to scoop and shovel and dig and empty and do that numerous times just to clean one litter box one time. It’s also pretty affordable, got ours for 60 bucks each on Amazon. There’s different sizes but we got the large size.

I'm surprised that the Clevercat top-entry box didn't make the list. I've had it for 11 years--it's sturdy, easy to clean, and nowhere near as fussy as the ModKat, which looks cute but also doesn't seem nearly as durable. I prefer to use the Clevercat without the lid, though I liked having the lid when the box was in my closet and I needed to keep down the smell. I suppose some would argue, why not use a regular deep plastic bin, but I don't think a Sterilite bin would hold up as well through multiple cleanings as the Clevercat has.

Or little treat balls, and include testing of how well they stand up to being tossed from about 3 feet up onto a wooden floor. :P . I have a cat who can open drawers and he's broken a couple that way.

I’ve used various receptacles over the years. My biggest complaint for commercial boxes besides price is skimpy size. A storage box is a good choice if the bottom is flat. Bumps ridges and channels are a cleaning problem. I like sifting boxes so will put them inside a tote which works well to contain scatter. I don’t use low boxes for kittens. Just providing a ramp or stair works well. Pretty much as soon as they are able to climb out of the nesting box Kittens will use litter. Not providing an accessible litter box soon enough is a mistake often made with babies. Besides the usual scoop broom and dustpan, a large scraper tool that is used for tiling is great for lifting clumps off the floor of the box. Cheap at the dollar store.

Very informative video! Ran across this video to see what other litter boxes are out there. The problem I have with my cat is she pee over the sides. She does not bend or squat so even boxes that have “high sides” don’t stop her. Debating on making one using a storage bin.

I suggest Victorian Gardens Cattery's use of pine pellets, and a Tidy Cats Breeze box with the slide out drawer removed, and set on top of a large open litter box with puppy pad. Pine pellets absorb the urine, and odor, turning to sawdust. I scoop the poop, shake loose from the pellets, and flush. Once a week or more, I grab the 4 corners of the puppy pad, lift out and discard. $6 for a 40 pound bag make it very economical. Any scattered pellets, I just pick up, and toss back in the box.

In terms of the automatic systems, all the ones I’ve been seeing online seem to have:
    • usable litter areas that are too small for a medium-large cat
    • I hear that most of their motors are on the loud side (if a motor is comparable to conversation volumes, that is loud to me for a litter box)
    • the raking style boxes look like they barely scrape below the surface
    • The LR3 looks like it’s well over a foot tall to even get into
    • other “globe” style spinning boxes seem to have major design flaws in terms of ease of disassembly and potential for 💩 sticking…
I’m surprised that there hasn’t been a box designed yet made with a virtually non-stick material that has better litter surface area, a truly quiet motor and better entrance height…
Granted the SmartSift box isn’t automated and has its own flaws, but it would be great if it had a little lower entrance access, had its mechanisms made of a stronger material and was then given a whisper quiet motor for automation…
At least it has enough room inside for a medium or medium-large cat and still have a nearly right amount of litter surface area…
With the right tweaks (subtle changes for the actual design to further minimize clean litter loss and leaks, true non-stick materials for the actual litter box to eliminate the need for the large liner, better mechanism materials and making it motorized) it ~could~ be one of the best boxes ever
Even if the full cycle would take 2-3 minutes to accomplish maximum litter preservation, I would imagine most people would gladly take that if it meant the motor was whisper quiet and maximized the clean litter that was retained each cycle

I have just got a Catit smartrsift box which is like an enclosed sifter box with a manual external handle for the sifting. I am using a clay litter at the moment, do you think I could use pine pellets with it too? I like that because its manual you can vary the sifting speed and give it a little extra shake if needed. My cat doesn't cover up that well so I remove solids with a poop bag and just let it sift clumps. Love your videos, you are so easy to listen to and very to the point. Hope to see lots more!

have you ever just went to walmart and got a big tote (for like under $10) and "sliced" a part out of one of its sides (not to far down the side just enough to give the cat easy access and to keep the litter at a good height) - they work great - you can wash them - they come in many colors - and when they do finally wear out (after a year) you just toss them and get a new one - I have been doing this for years and it is so so so much cheaper than those high dollar ones that are really the same thing - you do a good review but gosh that is some high dollar litter boxes

I saved myself some money by buying those large 66 QT Sterilite container storage boxes for my litter boxes. My cats use them all the time, and I have no problem with my cats peeing over the sides of the boxes. The sides are tall, so that keeps them from over shooting the boxes. They are fairly easy to clean, and are pretty sturdy too. I bought them at Walmart, and they only cost $7.98 each. I have very little litter scattering too. Not much litter falls out of the boxes due to the sides being tall. 😊 That cardboard sifting litter box seems like a waste of money to me. 🙁Despite it is made of cardboard, and will decompose quicker, it doesn't seem very durable to me, and also you have to throw it away after several uses. I've had my litter boxes for a few years now, and so far they haven't fallen apart. And so far, my cats are not allergic to the plastic containers. They definitely work for me! 🙂

  • @Spikypotato.
    @Spikypotato. 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

We use pine litter but we have another system- it is a 2 piece, not 3 piece box, so the kitty goes directly on the ”sifting” part that is covered with a layer of pine.
We never sift the way you showed in the video, instead we stir with a scoop and then nothing scatters around🤓👍🏼
It just falls down to the box under it with no fallout.
Since she goes directly on the sifting part, when she digs around the used pine litter automaticly falls down to the bottom piece (where you can have a handful of dry pine to soak upp the urine, and a plastic bag or some paper to just roll up and clean really fast).
