@@eden9544 Yes, Kitty Sift is compatible with Pretty Litter. You would simply sift the litter and poo waste instead of scooping. And, the sifting action will help fulfill the stirring requirement. No more touching and contaminating your litter box with dirty plastic scoopers! Lift, sift and dispose!

Best litter box in the world, a drywall mud mixing tub from Lowes. $6.88, large enough for all cats to fit properly (1.5 times the length of the cat!), and if you actually fill it, you'll never have to change out litter again. It will fit 60 pounds of clay litter (about 20 pounds of wheat litter) and all you need to do is scoop and top off. I had mine for 5 years, and only now changed it out because I switched to the wheat litter.

We have 2 of the stainless steel box with the extra high walls that is optional. The box is incredible and forever lasting. Unfortunately, one of our female cats loves to see how high she can toss litter everywhere, so unfortunately litter escapes. If they had it completely closed in, it would be a 10 out of 10. Tip for using a shifting litter box: hold both boxes together, making a separation between the two of them with your fingers, and then shake! That way there will be (almost) no scatter. The trays need to be quite light, though

As soon as I set it up my cat jumped right in to use it. I won’t have to purchase a new one yearly. The only negative is when she covers her mess the claws against the pan is like nails on a chalkboard 😵‍💫 but I’ll never go back to a plastic box.

Just wanted to say that I was previously using pine litter and found the PeeWee EcoMinor litter box works great, it was the best one I found and is made specifically for the pine litter. You don’t have to take the trays apart to do the sifting, you can just shake it a bit of run a scoop through and the sawdust just drops into the bottom section. You just scoop the poop out of like you would with a regular tray and then empty the bottom tray about every 5 days depending. It also had a removable lip to stop litter flying out when digging and I barely had and scatter. The tray it easy to clean With a hose or shower. They also make a larger size which I think is called Peewee EcoGrade, and some covered versions. Also if you end up changing the type of litter you use in the future, you can still use the tray and just remove the sifting part. (I have recently switched switched to a corn based litter as my cat seemed to be getting unhappy with the pine, I think because it’s quite chunky under the paws)

I'm surprised that the Clevercat top-entry box didn't make the list. I've had it for 11 years--it's sturdy, easy to clean, and nowhere near as fussy as the ModKat, which looks cute but also doesn't seem nearly as durable. I prefer to use the Clevercat without the lid, though I liked having the lid when the box was in my closet and I needed to keep down the smell. I suppose some would argue, why not use a regular deep plastic bin, but I don't think a Sterilite bin would hold up as well through multiple cleanings as the Clevercat has.

I don't understand why ANYONE would buy scooping litter when better options exist. It's dusty, and more work.
I think you should have mentioned that cats and humans should always use fragrance free litter because artificial fragrances are toxic and carcinogenic.
Scooping litter is such an old option that it's ridiculous really.
Plus, tell people don't leave anything in the box, Clear it daily at least. I know lots of people don't do that and just leave things in there for days. Gross!!!
I know my cat probably prefers no big clumps of litter from where he peed. Plus I don't have to scoop that every time he pees. I remove a poop as soon as there is only 1 in there and use a biodegradable poop bag, not expensive online. I use the Breeze system. I love it's ease of use.
I might soon try the pine pellets with it by exchanging the bottom for a jumbo pan for it to sit in. It will sift that way and possibly be less expensive. Plus the pine is supposedly more comfortable on their paws. The clay pellets are great but a wee bit sharp, not cutting but painful.

I see you using that huge metal scoop and think, "oh man, a litter lifter would make life so much easier." =). also, i am not sure what i think of arm & hammer slide - what's in it that makes it "slide" and is that chemical or whatever it is ok for the cat to inhale and ingest? Can the Kitty Sift be recycled? I was sad to hear that you said you can throw it in the trash --> that's one of the huge problems with cat litter disposal - it's not eco-friendly - so if the Kitty Sift can be recycled, then that's a huge plus for those of us who try to help the environment when possible. Don't you find that litter scatter has to do with 3 things: 1. litter box, 2. type of litter and 3. the cat itself? i have one that throws litter like it's confetti. i just don't see how you can evaluate litter scatter on the litter box alone? i think it's just depends on the cat with the Litter-Robot 3 - many large breeds like my cats and Maine Coons feel fine in it. As I have found, at the end of the day, it's up to the cat whether or not it's big enough, not the human - ha ha.

I’m wondering how much did they pay you to give those open boxes a good review? And the only closed litter box you selected was clear which to me is ridiculous. Why would anyone want to see their cat take a dump? That’s like me want to see my girlfriend take a dump. Makes no sense and all the ones I like were not part of your review hmmmm.

Perhaps those are your preference, but open litter boxes are known to be more cat-appropriate. All of these products were purchased independently, and I was not paid by any of these companies to include their litter boxes.

  • @gwen-m8r

Why oh why won't companies make litterboxes with HIGH ENOUGH sides to accommodate larger cats and high pee-ers. That way owners don't have to rig them from storage containers with annoying indentations and protrusions which make them hard to scoop cleanly. At least 8 years ago, for a brief period, Target stores sold a nice smooth sided, rounded corner box with 16" tall sides, and an optional flat clear lid that sat nicely in an indentation surrounding the top of the box. But they stopped selling them, even though it seemed to me that they were so popular they couldn't keep them in stock. I managed to collect 4 and they have held up well all these years. If there is pee on the back wall of the box, I simply swipe with a cleaning wipe. And since the body is taller and one piece, its easy to tilt the box for efficient scooping. Before Target's model, I had tried boxes with added height in the lid, but for me, that style is not as efficient to clean, and some would catch pee and hold odor in the lid channel. Hoping you have some influence with manufacturers and that you can make this suggestion to them.

Yikes, sorry to hear that. I have it in my studio right now, and I can see what you're saying about the flimsy plastic and difficulty lining up the rim. Another option is a large Rubbermade container, if you prefer you can cut an opening in the lid, or leave open. It is not suitable for cats with limited mobility, but large young cats seem to like, and there is great scatter control.

Hi Mallory, thanks for the great review. I'm thinking of switching from the big plastic hooded litter boxes to the stainless steel ones. Unfortunately, one of my cats pees very high against the wall and I'm concerned that 8" height might be a little small, what are your experiences there? And would my steel scoop scratch the stainless steel, i.e. would I need a plastic scoop again? Thank you, Greetings from Germany, Tobi

    • @AllAboutCatsYT
      @AllAboutCatsYT  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hi there! Yes, the sides are a bit short. iPrimio does offer an additional shield that you can buy on the side, but other than that, you will likely find that your cat can go over the edge. A plastic scoop may be more compatible with the surface, especially if you get the coated interior. I really like the Litter-Lifter with mine.

I saved myself some money by buying those large 66 QT Sterilite container storage boxes for my litter boxes. My cats use them all the time, and I have no problem with my cats peeing over the sides of the boxes. The sides are tall, so that keeps them from over shooting the boxes. They are fairly easy to clean, and are pretty sturdy too. I bought them at Walmart, and they only cost $7.98 each. I have very little litter scattering too. Not much litter falls out of the boxes due to the sides being tall. 😊 That cardboard sifting litter box seems like a waste of money to me. 🙁Despite it is made of cardboard, and will decompose quicker, it doesn't seem very durable to me, and also you have to throw it away after several uses. I've had my litter boxes for a few years now, and so far they haven't fallen apart. And so far, my cats are not allergic to the plastic containers. They definitely work for me! 🙂

The omega paw easy fill n roll is by far the best litter box we’ve ever had. Having 4 cats, it starts to really be a pain to scoop everything 2 times a day. With the omega paw roll litter box you just roll it upside down and all the waste and clumps go inside a skinny pull out drawer which also conveniently fits right into any bag even if it’s a very small poop bag made for dogs. It takes literally 10 seconds to do. Sometimes there will still be some stuff in the main litter if it is more fresh pee or poop that isn’t clumped up all the way yet but then you just scoop that one piece out or just roll it one more time. We have two of these in our house and it has made cleaning and emptying the waste in the litter box a breeze. I highly recommend this litter box! It’s basically a simpler more affordable take on the automatic cleaning litter boxes but those can be too engineered and complicated and malfunction or cats won’t feel comfortable in them and be scared of them and not go to the bathroom as often as they should. This one takes any electronics out of the equation. Also it’s very light even with the litter filled to the max line and it’s super easy to roll since they rounded the edges where you are supposed to roll it upside down. No point in getting these old design litter boxes that you have to scoop and shovel and dig and empty and do that numerous times just to clean one litter box one time. It’s also pretty affordable, got ours for 60 bucks each on Amazon. There’s different sizes but we got the large size.

I have just got a Catit smartrsift box which is like an enclosed sifter box with a manual external handle for the sifting. I am using a clay litter at the moment, do you think I could use pine pellets with it too? I like that because its manual you can vary the sifting speed and give it a little extra shake if needed. My cat doesn't cover up that well so I remove solids with a poop bag and just let it sift clumps. Love your videos, you are so easy to listen to and very to the point. Hope to see lots more!

I never thought to use pine with a sifting box. Good clumping litter with a good stainless steel sifting scoop as backup for sticking seems most obvious. I have a covered sifting box with a door but I also don't have a 10lb cat. She's only maybe 6 or 7 lbs. Once she realized she wasn't stuck inside the box after the door closed she had no trouble.

All litter boxes made are not ideal for cats. They’re not large enough, closed off, and made for looks/to hide instead of for the best interest of the cat. Buy a large storage bin that is see through. Buy an unscented clumping litter. And you’re good. Your cats will thank you.
