The last expansions are fully story centered and they emphasize on your relationship with your partners and your growth as a character in an even more efficient way with a better production. I always felt like playing a mass effect mmo especially in the late game. Glad you've put your hands on it !
My only complaint it the absolute overload of eneemies in the late game story. Still good gameplay but having to fight for 20 minuits in every single section is sometimes a bit time consuming.
@@Sgt.chickens That's how the base game used to be, before any of the expansions were released. I never went back to the game because it feels cheap, in comparison.
I say this as someone who's casually enjoyed most of the class stories; do not sleep on the imperial agent story when you get the chance. It is soooo good!
I 2nd this. I always play mine pragmatically, picking "dark" and "light" side choices where they would make the most sense. It's one of the few classes that feels like you can do this without breaking any aspect of your character.
What I like about SWtOR is that I can play it solo and I don't really have to interact with anyone. Also, the free to play model although restrictive is mostly playable and you can buy some unlocks within the Auction system if you've earned enough in-game credits.
Besides what you say there about the F2p, you can also just subscribe for 1 month, and then get "preferred status" and thus get alot "free unlocks" that f2p dont. I havent run the numbers on it, but I'm somewhat certain that it is cheaper to do that, than to buy the individual unlocks. (but again I'm not certain).
@@zoriononline It's not cheaper as you can buy most of the unlocks (not all) via the free auction in game. Sure, if you want all the unlocks, it will cost you real money though. You can buy character unlocks, inventory unlocks, cargo hold unlocks, bank unlocks and a few other things within the auction system. It just takes awhile to get that sort of in-game cash but you can do it by selling stuff in the auction too.
@@Bellthorian You do interact with people sometimes with Flashpoints and there's still other players running around. I just don't really talk to them, even if I do help them out or they help me out with boss fights occasionally.
I've played on and off since 2018 and it's just so easy to sit down and immerse yourself in the world and your character. Yeah I've spent a fair amount on cosmetics but to me, having played for many years now, it just makes me much more invested in the characters I've created. Some of the writing in the expansions are great, but a few of the interluding expansion parts are very hit or miss, but that'll be weeks at the quickest before you get there. Glad you enjoyed it!
As a subscriber to SWTOR, my tip for new players is to, if you're able to, sub for at least 1 month to upgrade from "basic FTP" status to "preferred". It won't unlock everything a sub gets, but it will get you most of it, like all the current expansions and what not.
@a.r.s For whatever is out at the time, yes. I think, personally, it's worth it to do the 2-3 month non-recurring sub, and do that for as long as you can, but if you can't or don't want to sub then a 1 month sub will get you all the current story content.
@DMBLaan99 I haven't played in a probably a year or 2 but isn't there 3 tiers? I thougjrbit was FTP, a middle one and then paid subscription. And once you pay for a sub once you get put in the middle tier when the sub expires. Or am I thinking of a different game?
@InvalidUsername480 That's in this one. But if new story content comes out, you need to do a month sub again for it. That said, new story content is space pretty far apart atm.
Haha the quick travel cost was a very recent addition in BW's attempt to fight the game's crazy inflation. But it really only affects new players. If you have literal billions in your inventory like every long time player, a 4k travel cost isn't exactly going to affect you. The game is great but new content comes in way too slowly. But for someone who hasn't played any of it yet there is weeks of nonstop things to do
You can make over 5 million playing every main, side and heroic mission to the end of chapter 3. I've never needed to raid my legacy banks fund on new characters.
New content comes slowly but to be honest I'm surprised new content comes out at all at this point. The game came out 12 years ago and never was a huge success to begin with, I didn't expect it to last this long considering MMO have a tendency to die pretty quickly confronted to giants like WoW or FF14...
@@Hugo74390 It's 100% carried by being Star Wars in its current state but there is still so much potential going to waste in the game. They could do much more with it despite its age because I'd say it aged quite well. Part of it is the cartoonish visual style but there is also no reason to really change the gameplay, it holds up
Suprise, surprise, did you notice that the GTN prices are down 50% and drop every day ? One gold augment was 800 mil to a bilion, now is 300-350 mil. Check OEm and RPM prices, drop frpm 150 mil to a 50 mil. Embers dropped from 4-5 mil to a less than a mil. If you ask me that only hurt new players, but i do alot of charity and gave credits away to a new players.
@@gushy7438 Yeh that's due to the measures they are taking behind the scenes, they mass-banned sellers finally but that still can't be all of it. I checked the seller websites because something else must have happened and at this point they charge like 10 dollars per billion, lol. Doubt anyone buys credits at that rate anymore. Idk if BW just bought up all the credits and burned them or what but they did something.
I played this game almost every day since it launched for over 1 year as Imperial sniper. Met wonderful people had fantastic guild and the memories I hold of places and planets feel as real as my last year's vacation trip.
You just made me want to play it again, i remember loving the Bounty hunter class as while your gun down enemies, your character laughs and it makes role playing so much fun with little details like that. Also Mako is awesome.
Ok, you convinced me to go back to my favorite game and play it for another thousand hours. The jedi Knight, Bounty Hunter, and sith Warrior are my favorite to play. As a jedi knight, being able to kill all my enemies while saving the innocent just feels like something anakin would do lol. I love choices as a jedi knight. Also fun fact my name is the name that I came up with for my bounty hunter character like 12 years ago
The roleplaying in this game is arguably the best of any MMO ever created, it's truly amazing. The stories are of course phenomenal and are reason enough on their own to play this game. Just about on par with a lot of single-player games. It really does feel like a mass effect game with an MMO built on top of it.
I periodically revisit this game to replay some of my favorite storylines. I only wish they'd release it as a standalone story-based game to be played on consoles.
The Eternal Empire is in my opinion by far the most interesting faction in the entire Star Wars franchise. Zakuul is visually absolutely stunning with this skyscrapers who goes into space. Also the Eternal Fleet and the Army of Zakuul Knights are so badass
@@Prince_Virginia Not true. Although I thought Valkorion was a great character, and from playing the game it seemed like he was just as powerful as Palpatine. But George Lucas himself said that Palpatine was the most powerful Sith Lord of all time.
Honestly, I'd have to disagree on that. Imo Kotet and Kotfe were by far the weakest expansions. Zakuul just doesn't feel like Star Wars at all. Cool concept, but bad execution. The whole Zakuul thing feels a lot like the writers wrote themselves into a corner and then had to come up with something to make the story continue.
Me and some friends all played together when it literally came out and we had a blast. That lasted probably around a year, and then we all started going to college/working etc. I’m now married with a 3 year old and do wind down when they go to sleep to game and honestly haven’t even considered giving SWTOR another shot until watching this video.
This game literally crafed my teenage years. I put in literally hundreds upon hundreds(possibly thousands of hours at this point) into this game. It quite literally is a part of me and it is one of the best designed games to this day
Beta/Founder and still a Current player here.. It's definitely worth checking out if you've never played it before or just love Star Wars. At least for all 8 different class storylines 1-50.
@@sainkanzaki if you’re just sticking to main quests with all the cutscenes, battle and travel. Level 1-50 takes id say still several hours. The bulk of your time will be the cutscenes, watching them play out and choosing your responses. They’ve made travel easier using the taxi system. Used to have to discover each point. Now they’re unlocked 95% still have to discover a rare few. So travel takes time but is a lot better. Companions being able to fill any role makes Combat is easy. Rarely die. So the bulk of your time is the Story and the dialogue options.
Speaking of replayability - thats actually one of the strongest selling points imo for the SW and the voice actor for Jaesa. Tbh its not spoilers for a game thats 10+ years, even if your late to the party. You end up with her, but if you recruit her Dark side she will fall, and it will be a very different set of comments she'll say in combat or in general. Should you be lightside and recruit her, she dont fall, and is "serene and calm like a Jedi". None of the other companions do this, or atleast not to such an extent as she does. Juggernaut is really awesome when it clicks, I actually like to play it as Tank(Immortal) but with dps gear, just feels like Vader in end of Rogue1 :P Stun this guy with a hard smack, forcepush this guy of the cliff, choke the other one, smash, and do an arc hit that gets'em all. That said I was Juggernaut main, but I've fallen in love with the Shadow(Jedi) or Assasin(Sith) style, thats more like Darth Maul, acrobatic doublebladed or polesabers.
This game is one of the few mmo games i really enjoy. The story, characters, and voice actors/actresses, theyre all done well. Some i recognize frol movies, shows, and even other games. Thats cool to me. I really love the era of the old republic. A piece of star wars thats highly under looked it feels.
This game does have alot of great voice actors. My favorite being Laura Bailey who is the voice actor for Jaina Proudmore. She's the voice actor for Kira Karson and Darth Krovos in swtor.
It's not just the class stories but the expansions as well you should check out. KOTFE/ET expansions are the peak of this game from story perspective. So worth it A great game, still keeps me in for more than 5 years strong
Having done all eight classes up to max level, I have to say that the Agent story line is the most epic (and, no, I didn't have an Agent as my main character).
Absolutely loved this game. Started playing day 1 up till about a year after it went free to play. Had played all the classes and my favorite was the operative, then the counselor. I don’t know if things have changed now but back then the ships for the dark side were way cooler than the light side. I fractured my right wrist in multiple locations and was already experiencing pain in the left from old sports injuries. Really do miss playing this game.
9:26 Sorry to 🤓here but the difference is only because Kylo Ren's crystal got cracked during the bleeding process, which is why is sounds as chaotic as it does. (Also the reason for it being a cross guard to release excess power).
A single-player version would much easier to mod so yes. I hope so to. The player base could make the vanilla stories so much better than they are now in terms of fight difficulty. Imagine the story bosses instituting actual mechanics
You can literally play SWTOR as a single player game. You can turn off player nameplates and the chat. The game doesen't force you in any way to group up with other players since 90% of the content (the other 10% being operations) is perfectly soloable.
This is probably my 2nd favorite MMO out there. Its exactly what im looking for when it comes to an MMO: story centric, tons of exploration, awesome customization, player housing and guild halls, and your not locked into any perticular style, and by far the best the community is friendly to roleplay.
Yesssss! Finally, someone gives due credit to the very much underappreciated voice of the female Sith Warrior. Excellent video. Enjoy the rest of your SWTOR journey.
I have never played, or enjoyed any MMO in my lifetime after trying countless ones.. including WoW. But this game, somehow, has hooked me in and I love it. I loved it so much I decided to sub with my friend and play all this game has to offer, and is now my main title currently.
In my opinion the most fun story I've played is being a strictly light side sith warrior. There's something so great being a noble sith lord that just seems to be the most fun. This game is so great because the solo game play and playing with friends are equally fun.
I'm a "founder," having played since Beta and continued on since then as a subscriber. I put it aside for the last year or two since I found myself obsessing over Fallout 4, largely thanks to Kinggath. Lately, I've been hankering to go back.
I enjoyed the Trooper and Agents because, while Jedi and Sith are present, it felt good to just experience the universe where you're seeing the less "mystical" side of things. A trooper fighting a war or an agent trying to do their part to keep an Empire running smoothly sometimes in spite of the ruling class's bizarre internal conflicts. Frankly, the fun Bond callbacks in the Agent story just made it even more fun, along with the touches into cybernetics and their effects, secret cabals, and all that jazz. I should go back and relax in his Nar Shadda palace for a bit, was rather proud of opening it up fully and decorating it. But one thing else about the Republic Trooper: the male voice is Brian Bloom, who was Varric in Dragon Age. So I had a VERY hard time trying to decide which gender to play because it isn't fair to make me choose between Bloom and Hale!
First ? I like it , it has a good community around it unlike some other mmo's that I've played bio ware doing what they are good at storytelling proves if EA let them do there thing they are good at what they do.
The imp side on the fleet is quite literally 40-60yrs old children arguing about politics non stop, but the pub side is quite nice and helpful. The community, when you arent actively seeking it out, is generally pretty nice yes.
I have been loving SWTOR, I have completed 6/8 class storylines. I have played (what feels like) countless MMOs and outside of ESO, SWTOR is the only MMO that made me feel like I am part of the world. SWTOR is more of a mini-MMO, basically a large single player game with slight multiplayer in it. It doesn't focus on group content too much, no real grinds, some daily stuff (but you don't need to do it). I think SWTOR should get more of a spotlight. ESO is great, but super easy, but SWTOR takes the best parts of ESO, puts a starwars skin on it and does it slightly better
the pvp is fun. i always come back to this game every few months. even if its just a cash cow for EA. 1-50 the story telling, 8 unique stories and the fact you can play em light / dark side really is a great way to spend your time.
Fast traveling used to be free, but players used to have extreme wealth - millions to be precise and it destroyed the economy so the cost was implemented as a way to reduce the amount of credits in circulation. Also if you want to minimise the cost then just teleport to the nearest cab station and take a cab to your intended destination - it takes longer but it much cheaper.
This game got a lot of hate when it came out, because people wanted KOTOR 3, what many people didnt realize this is KOTOR 3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and 10. Each class has a unique story, the quality varies, but the best ones are really fking good, Imperial Agent storyline is amazing. Also the fact you can play evil jedi or a good sith is so valuable for me.
one of the few MMO's I do play esp that lets me play solo and just do the storylines. I don't do group content. At my older age, I just refuse to deal with toxic players who want to rag on someone because they are not as good as them etc. ESO is another I absolutely love for the same reason. I can go thru the entire storylines with out have to be forced to do group content to finish a story.
At 9:27 the reason Kylo REN’s lightsaber looks and sounds like that is because it uses a cracked kyber crystal and that is what gives it the unstable look. I’ve never played the game myself but it’s cross guard sound effect is relatively accurate when used with an undamaged crystal
I've started playing tOR a few months ago, and I absolutely agree with all you've said! This is an incredible gamez I literally spend hours after work. When I saw the galaxy map, i gasped, like, my God, I CAN VISIT ALL OF THESE PLANETS?!
1:39 wow that’s a very strange choice imo. I meticulously crafted each of my eight characters to all be unique when it comes to appearance & play-style.
I’ve only been playing this game for a little over a year and it took me until February of this year to complete chapter 1 on all 8 characters 😂 after taking a break I just got back into it this week to start chapter 2 so I’m still a noob but I definitely enjoy this game! About to play this evening in fact 😊
oh man what i would do to experience all the stories for the first time again... im not a big mmo player but this game is one of my favorite games ever.. i literally started playing this game in 2013 and since then played all the stories like 10 or more times and its still fun to me to this day because they are sooo damn good.
Fun fact, after you reach light or dark V alignment, you have all 8 force wielding classes at your disposal during creation. Also, each side's combat style has a mirror on the other side, Juggs have, essentially, the same growth trees as the Guardian, Sorcs=Shadow, etc.
SWTOR is not dead, I love that game and play it all the time. And before you ask - I joined like 2-3 years ago. Back when subclasses were still class-dependant. Meaning there only were two subclasses per class aka: juggernaut and marauder for Sith warrior, sorcerer and assassin for Sith inquisitor and so on.
SWTOR going free to play was the best gift for a modern Star Wars fan. Specially if you want to play it casually and just enjoy it. As stated, the replayability of it really makes it compelling to stick with it in the future, and in a world of FOMO, having that kind of peace and consistency with the content is really refreshing.
As a founder I quit playing my original account after 8 months but started a FTP account so as not to gimp my original account. The game was definitely one that needed another 6-12 months of development and polish to become what it should've been. Because of EA's decisions I stuck with my FTP account and after playing regularly for about 24 more months, I switched to giving them $30 a year and binging for 2 months annually. I've played through all 8 story/class lines at least 2x and no other game has surpassed that aspect of the game. I highly recommend to any gamer to try this title at least once. It's a free start and if you find yourself enjoying it and decide to give the devs a $30 donation, you'll get ALL of the DLCs permanently added to your account for free plus some conveniences while your 2 month sub is active.
I played this game a bunch when it came out but I never even made it to endgame and hadn't really touched it since. This made me want to get back into it after over decade
As a longtime player I have to say the class stories up to lvl 50 are the most entertaining part of SWTOR. The endgame is a bit stale, particularly with how gearing is now and from lvl 50 to 80 the stories you get are not class-specific anymore, but rather faction-specific, which means there's very little difference between what you do as a Bounty Hunter or a Sith Warrior (just minor cutscene alterations). You can also notice how all the voice acting is minimal now (they've made 4 Galactic Seasons each of whom rewards you with a companion and so far all of them speak gibberish) since they clearly don't find it profitable to invest in that sort of thing, and the amount of "story" we get is about a couple of hours per year. There are a lot of things and systems they could do to make the game much livelier and exciting but idk if Bioware has any interest anymore in it.
I wish they would have added new classes since they launched. Eventually, it got kind of old, but feel like new classes and storylines that go with them would have made it more interesting again.
The story aspect is great, it's the only source of real pre Disney Star Wars out there. Legends for me will always be the true SW and SWTOR delivers that.
of course its worth it , better then any game being released today! Game developer do not make games anymore they make alphas and release them for cash
The part about the Sith Warrior story I appreciate is there are non violent options to a lot of missions as you said. Like, my master says I have to take you out but we can work something out maybe.
SWTOR is a game I keep coming back too, just to catch up on its story on progress. I'll often binge it non stop for a month or two if able. then ignore it for a year or so, then come back and see what's new. Its story really is the main reason (at least for me) you play as the game has an impressive level of detail in what it will remember which can actually influence things MUCH later in. Your character's class story is literally only the beginning of the game and depending on how much you play (including side missions, exploring and etc) that can take you awhile to complete. This game also does respect your efforts if you do pay to subscribe at any point then stop, You'll never go fully back to 'free to play' but an alternative 'preferred status' which gives you access to more things in comparison. What I love is that even if you unlock something as a sub, unlike other MMOs it doesn't just go 'Oh well your not a sub now, so you've forgot it.' and lock you away from it, it lets you continue to use your level, vehicle, inventory slots and so on that you unlock when you were a sub. Honestly, Its worth paying for at least one month if your enjoying the game enough as a free to play and you imagine your gonna keep going for awhile.
The first 3 chapters are storywise separate. After that some merging of the classes takes place. There are quite a few give-away-events which will give you free rides that can be used with every character on the server. Thus being not possible to ride or to pay a lot, is only problematic in the beginning. Yes, getting a subscription may ease up on the beginning. Some of the perks can be kept when cancelling the subscription (there are overviews available). Best information in my POV comes from "swtorista". I'm not related to her and I don't even subscribe. But she offers a ton very detailed information - which could be overwhelming for beginners. BTW I choose not to play beyond chapter 3 and I'm not into endgame. I'm a casual gamer and I want to have fun. Thus I choose the parts that are fun to me - and that is mostly soloplay and PVE.
If you play sith inquistor and keep all your ghosts at the end, writers shaft you in eternal throne and forget you have them in you regardless of everything. Which really pissed me off.
I immediately fell in love with my Sith Inquisitor when I started playing this game. The voice acting is amazing. I go full-on dark side and she sounds so cocky and cruel ❤
Been playing since the BETA! I have to say: choosing to play nowadays as a Sith Warrior with Sorcerer specialization is mindblowing. Athough for newcomers beware: it's not 1-50LVL Story context appropriate (no spoilers). For veterans or if you have played the classes normally once to get your Legendary Account status, mixing and matching is awesome. Also you can now double-spec into DMG/HEAL (or any combo) which is fantastic to not have to level 15 different characters.
I'd love to see your screen shots and videos from the beginning. I have hundreds if videos on TH-cam and 1000s of screen shots. I dig checking out others videos and pictured. It seems I am the only one who has video and pictures from every mmorpg I have ever played
@@Docthewrench Unfortunately I do not have anything. My PC has undergone several changes from 2011 that lost much of what early SWTOR was. Rest assured, it was quite similar to what it is today but with waaaay more buttons to press, no direction to what you needed to spec (you had to guess/rely on guides), and quite many more players.
I honestly think SWTOR would have been better as a single player AAA open world game like GTA. With the expansions being DLCs. And you could have a cosmetics store.
Love your channel nice to see you playing one of my all time games SWTOR myself playing been since 2014 and my wife have been playing since 2015 storys are fun but the only problem we have is on Highest level gets a bit worse as its very hard to get the gear thank you for your videos i enjoy them very much and i have watched a few of your live mass effect playthoughs we are also subscribed to your channel :)
Quick travel always used to be a free ability until the latest major update. I guess making it cost credits was a way to reduce the credit inflation that was becoming a real problem in the galactic trade market.
My favorite classes (just based on my enjoyment from MC) are sith inquisitor and smuggler! Love them! Didn't really like playstyle of a smuggler, but now i can choose any tech spec and i'm content =) love this sith inq line - "I will send your body back to your master.... *giddy * in pieces :3" sith inq is a psycho (esp female voice) and smuggler is a jokester, love them.
I just started playing the other day. Been looking for a good game lately and i think this is it! Im a solo player and im looking forward to getting to play all 8 story missions.
I would recommend holding off on the Imperial agent until you have done the other Imperial class stories, a lot of what you get up to on the other classes gets mentioned by the background characters during the Imperial agent class story.
Back in the day I remember we had a RP server, now that was the true Star Wars experienc, with our guild we gathered on Coruscant for raids, if you passed a Republic Trooper as a Jedi they salute you and greet you. In 4ppl content you all choose speech options and the game select one randomly(imagine the narrative sillyness with a cocky Smuggler,a logical Trooper, A by the book Jedi, and a rebelious Sentinel)
I highly recommend to anyone to try this game. Now its free to play so its very accessible. But if you want everything unlocked you need to either buy said thing or subscribe.
If you try pvp at 80, DO NOT. Its pain and suffering... And the story is what BW does right. I hava done Warrior the most. Bonous points: you can reach different choices down different paths. DS Knight shows that.
one good feature now added is once you complete chapter 3 of your story you can unlock a second combat style. so you can have two classes available that you can change on the fly. they have also added a feature where you can unlock via legacy the option to play jedi or sith classes in the opposite alignment. so you can play a sith marauder and do the jedi warrior storyline. and decisions you make in game can come back to haunt you. ie end of chapter 3 say jedi sentinal if you played all the good options, all the people you help will come to help you. if you were a bit naughty they probalby won't making the battle much harder. also the company seems to be doing well enought for a so called 'dead' game that they are still releasing new content . so it now goes well over chapter 10
Just finished another 'Jedi' playthrough, including 'Shadow of Revan', 'Rise of The Hutt Cartel' and 'Knights of the Fallen Empire' expansions. It's still good. Sith Trooper up next!
Have fun playing through the stories. I really enjoyed the sith juggernaut story the most, it is very satisfying later on. I have played since it came out in 2011 and completed all 8 storylines. If you have the time they are worth it, minus the jedi consular, that one was such a slog to level through. But enjoy.
Funny, thing... Untill not so long ago Quick Travel only limitation was cooldown (which could be reduced to 0 by upgreades), but during recent upgreades they added price as a method of fighting Inflation which imadietly became pain of life for story players who dont get few M weakly from crafting farming BDW: as in any BW game with multiple stories i would love to see your opinion on all the baisic stories and maybe even expansions
Makes me wanna boot up my old pc that i havent touched in years (im more of a console guy since im not huge on games anymore) and play this again.... The nostalgia will be amazing!
I remember my wow guild we all moved to this game for launch back in 2011. Most of us hit max level within 24 hours of launch and found there was very little endgame. We cleared the hard mode raid a bunch of times and got bored and went back to wow. I think we spent about 2 months in this game before we gave up on it. We had high hopes for it but it wasn't what we wanted.
I Beta tested the game and have been a major fan of it since. I don't play nearly as much as I used to due to time and other games I want to play, but it is still a game I HIGHLY recommend for anyone. And with all 8 base stories being free to play, that's a lot of play time for nothing. I do recommend subbing at least for a month, because that will give you a permanent "preferred" status, which gives good in game discounts throughout the game. If you want a class recommendation, I STRONGLY suggest the Imperial Agent. The story is complex as are the characters you meet throughout it. Jedi Knight would be a close second. I just hope that when the game does end up dying for good, that BioWare figure out a way to give us a permanent port, so I can play if for years to come.
I started playing this game a couple years ago and I have enjoyed it immensely. Only thing I don’t like about it is the level shifting where it downgrades your level depending on the planet you’re on. I get that it’s done to keep the challenge factor up but as someone who enjoys feeling like an overpowered Eldridge being, if I’ve put in the work to be 15 levels above a boss, I should be free to one shot them.
I thoroughly enjoyed this game when I was in immersed in it. I had a total of 4 toons rolling on the imp side to get all 4 of the buffs and it was a fantastic time doing each and every 1 of the classes. best believe that my characters looked fucking COOL too while I was at it. thoroughly enjoyed the game. went dark side on every character, because I'm an imperial... go lightside on the republic side... imperial side is for cowabunga. I actually did a youtube search on the game for 2023 to see if it's even alive at all and I'm happy to see some are coming back. I guess I'll finish my operative story quests lol
I would argue that this game did de throne WoW for a short time when it came out. Unfortunately it ran out of end game content extremely quickly and there was zero incentive to do the larger player counts versions of the raids. I will say that the stories for the classes I played, Warrior and Imperial Agent were absolutely fantastic. Some of the best story lines in a game I have ever experienced. The game popped into my head this morning and I found your vid. Nice to see it is still worth playing.
I played it when it first came out and liked it. I went back last year, and apparently they never updated the UI or engine. I literally couldn't even get the text to be legible on my 4K TV.
I absolutely adore SWTOR and yeah, just as you said, I am indeed baffled that an RPG fan such as yourself had not checked this amazing story-driven game out until now. Especially as a BioWare fan as well. I usually main a light side pureblood sith marauder (Annihilation) and I can never ever hold out till Jaesa 'cos Vette gets me every time. Totally not 'cos I loved Mission Vao in KOTOR and Tali in ME...

genuinely good story
I 2nd this. I always play mine pragmatically, picking "dark" and "light" side choices where they would make the most sense. It's one of the few classes that feels like you can do this without breaking any aspect of your character.
@@JnEricsonx Wait, what do you mean? I don't remember the Emperor in the Inquisitor Story. You do mean the SI with "Sorcerer" don't you?
The best one, sniper agent was my main
PLaying a MMO so you can solo and not interacting with anyone is illogical.
@@Bellthorian Um no its not illogical just because thats not how you prefer to play.
So what you're saying is with only one time subscription, we get to keep all of the expansions and must of other stuff?
@@DMBLaan when do you suggest to do the sub after finishing the main story?
Only character I maxed ever was a Powertech BH. Loved tanking on that guy rped him as a mandolorian warrior.
@@DeReAntiquacope harder dork, 100,000+ people on it everyday, cry
I periodically revisit this game to replay some of my favorite storylines. I only wish they'd release it as a standalone story-based game to be played on consoles.
I lost a few years of my life to this game right after launch & have hopped back in a few times since. 10/10 Game
@@ryanchaney6226 ☝🤓George Lucas himself said
Honestly, I'd have to disagree on that.
How long does it take to see the whole story of a single character?
Juggernaut is really awesome when it clicks, I actually like to play it as Tank(Immortal) but with dps gear, just feels like Vader in end of Rogue1 :P
Stun this guy with a hard smack, forcepush this guy of the cliff, choke the other one, smash, and do an arc hit that gets'em all.
That said I was Juggernaut main, but I've fallen in love with the Shadow(Jedi) or Assasin(Sith) style, thats more like Darth Maul, acrobatic doublebladed or polesabers.
My favorite ability of the Immoral Jugg is the Backhand. The sound is so satisfying and I'm literally just slapping you in the face.
„Dont ever compare yourself with me“ coldest line ive ever heard. Ending of imp agent after you let hunter talk and then darkside ending
So worth it
A great game, still keeps me in for more than 5 years strong
I mean that's all opinion. I've played since launch year and I think the story falls off after SoR at the start of kotfe.
I remember playing this on launch and for years. Military deployments chewed up my time for playing it for years, but I have many fond memories of it.
I hope one day we get a single-player version of this game. The story and dialog is so amazing
Same. The multiplayer stuff is fun, but the game is a much better single player experience overall.
@victk its still a mmo meaning the combat, mechanics, and overall feel is different from a dedicated single-player game
Bounty hunter has the funniest lines ever :)
Correct me if im wrong.
This is probably my 2nd favorite MMO out there. Its exactly what im looking for when it comes to an MMO: story centric, tons of exploration, awesome customization, player housing and guild halls, and your not locked into any perticular style, and by far the best the community is friendly to roleplay.
And the first?
@@CurioSavior guild wars 2
For me my first is TESO and second SWTOR. Both magnificent mmo's
The force calls to you brother
The latest update to a 64 but client has really added to the quality and immersion. The textures and lighting are vastly improved!
I've been playing swtor off and on for 10 years, and man Sith Warrior has been my favorite story line
The Trooper-class is actually very underrated
As someone who has over 1400 hours in this game I can confirm that this game sucks as an MMO but is really damn fun as an rpg.
Female dark Jedi Knight and the imperial agent are phenomenal storylines
The main deterrent I have from playing this game is that the graphics look like they were made in 2003
I have been loving SWTOR, I have completed 6/8 class storylines.
FYI I wholeheartedly recommend you try the imperial agent story line. It is well known for being the best story in the game.
I’ve only been playing this game for a little over a year and it took me until February of this year to complete chapter 1 on all 8 characters 😂 after taking a break I just got back into it this week to start chapter 2 so I’m still a noob but I definitely enjoy this game! About to play this evening in fact 😊
The subscription is good but at least becoming a " preferred" player is essential
SWTOR is definitely not dead. Its extremely alive and has a large population which is decreasing sadly.
oh man what i would do to experience all the stories for the first time again... im not a big mmo player but this game is one of my favorite games ever.. i literally started playing this game in 2013 and since then played all the stories like 10 or more times and its still fun to me to this day because they are sooo damn good.
You really should try the Imperial Agent class, BEST storyline of them all, and i have played everyone of the classes multiple times
Agreed. It's kind of insane that they never added even a single new class to the game.
Great video, understood for myself that I definitely do not have that much time for another Mass Effect title.
One of the better reviews I seen out of that little playtime!
I was one of the greatest starfighter pilots in the galaxy once...
(Played from launch till '18 - GSF became my thing.)
Every partners in every classes is really fun and cute to interact, especially that bounty hunter in sith warriors, she is sooooo cute.
This game was memorable at launch, we were getting in by waves, the forums were so fun people waiting to get in commenting it was fun 👍
This video has just made this game a mush play. I love Mass Effect and you comparing it to the Old Republic has me very excited.
If you try pvp at 80, DO NOT.
Its pain and suffering...
And the story is what BW does right. I hava done Warrior the most.
Bonous points: you can reach different choices down different paths. DS Knight shows that.
I know this isn't important but I just wanna say the editing in this is like amazing. Like top notch level editing I love it.
one good feature now added is once you complete chapter 3 of your story you can unlock a second combat style. so you can have two classes available that you can change on the fly. they have also added a feature where you can unlock via legacy the option to play jedi or sith classes in the opposite alignment. so you can play a sith marauder and do the jedi warrior storyline. and decisions you make in game can come back to haunt you. ie end of chapter 3 say jedi sentinal if you played all the good options, all the people you help will come to help you. if you were a bit naughty they probalby won't making the battle much harder. also the company seems to be doing well enought for a so called 'dead' game that they are still releasing new content . so it now goes well over chapter 10
The Expansions are where the game really shines, there are some amazing characters you get to meet in them.
Just finished another 'Jedi' playthrough, including 'Shadow of Revan', 'Rise of The Hutt Cartel' and 'Knights of the Fallen Empire' expansions.
It's still good.
Sith Trooper up next!
played this so much when it first came out. loved it! great video btw!
Have fun playing through the stories. I really enjoyed the sith juggernaut story the most, it is very satisfying later on. I have played since it came out in 2011 and completed all 8 storylines. If you have the time they are worth it, minus the jedi consular, that one was such a slog to level through. But enjoy.
I enjoyed Consular story, wasn't as bad as people say. I find Smuggler and BH story less my speed.
Funny, thing... Untill not so long ago Quick Travel only limitation was cooldown (which could be reduced to 0 by upgreades), but during recent upgreades they added price as a method of fighting Inflation which imadietly became pain of life for story players who dont get few M weakly from crafting farming
BDW: as in any BW game with multiple stories i would love to see your opinion on all the baisic stories and maybe even expansions
i dont think its working tghe gtn is still stupid overpriced

I played religiously from launch til I graduated high school in 2019. The quality of life is so much better for free to play now than what it was haha
Only played it for half a year when it came out, my brother just started playing and I gotta say it looks amazing right now.
I just can't wait for Hulten to reach the end game expansions, god he's gonna loose his mind >w>
