    Thank you very much. I was able to complete my repair myself and save lots of $$$.
    The first time I opened my dishwasher to look at the timer, I heard a click, closed my dishwasher, and it worked. I didn't have to install a new timer. I think that the timer wire had simply gotten loose. However, the problem reappeared the next day, and I smelled a burning smell. The solenoid parts melted, and I had to install a new solenoid, armature link, and timer. So far, so good. My first appliance repair! Thank you again!

    Excellent video, When my dishwasher stopped filling up, initially I thought it was the water inlet valve, I replaced it, then I noticed the reason it wasn't filling with water was because the timer was not advancing. So with the help of your video, I replaced it. The dishwasher is working great once again. Thank you.

    Thanks for posting that vid. I have the exact same dishwasher. It runs but does not advance through the wash cycle, just runs all night. I ordered the exact same timer unit from Amazon, figuring it would be an easy plug n play fix, and just for S&G, I did a quick youtube search and your vid was the first one. Didn't tell me much that I wouldn't have figured out, because it is such a simple job, but still it is nice to see that it is so simple. I just fixed the ice maker in the fridge, and now the dishwasher. Got stuff to fix on the truck, the power windows AND the AC both crapped out one right after the other so got to fix those real soon, cause we are already getting warm days here in South Louisiana. Between youtube and Amazon and sometimes Fleabay, I honestly think I can fix ANYTHING. Anybody need a triple bypass or a kidney transplant? I work for booze.

      @@JRMSweeps If you mean the dishwasher, finally it boiled down to an assembly that cost half as much as a new dishwasher. I was spending way too much time on that thing, too. We ended up buying a new Kitchenaid three rack dishwasher instead and we LOVE IT! No plastic, all stainless except for a few little bits here and there. Works great, every time, holds a full day of dishes for the two of us, including snackers, beer glasses, and our evening cocktail glasses.

    I replaced the inlet valve already, it ran for one cycle and now its just stuck on heating and may have burned my house down if we came home any later. Assuming this fixes my issue, which at this point is unlikely, I'm close to $150 in on a dishwasher that cost $350 to replace with the model up, because this builder grade POS isn't even sold in stores. None of this is worth the risk and fire hazard this thing is. I just ordered a Bosch. Hopefully that works for at least 5 years, because this didn't even get us to 2 years (July). I knew GE products were junk, but you don't get many options in new construction without spending way more than its worth.

    • @JRMSweeps
      @JRMSweeps  ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine was builder grade as well, garbage. However, we never run anything while not at home for the reason you describe. Washer, dryer, dishwasher, nothing. Glad you guys are safe. Seems like they need to put a fail safe on these appliances.

    • @JRMSweeps
      @JRMSweeps  ปีที่แล้ว

      So the timer u installed isn't advancing?

  • @daveosc
    @daveosc 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Could this be why my washer won’t drain? We have had to mess with the dial for months because it would not advance but now it won’t advance well even with the nudge and on a dime it stopped draining. I see water in the tubing going to sink. I disconnected it and blew it out so I don’t think it’s clogged. What part number do I order for this?

    • @JRMSweeps
      @JRMSweeps  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Check the video description on the part number and cross reference your machine with it as well. I will tell you that the magnetic armature froze up on us underneath the washer bc it was stuck on drain for so long, it burned up the mechanism. I ended up having to replace that as well. Does your timer advance? If so, it is somethig other than the timer, else, if you can advance the timer manually and it drains, chances are it's the timer. We ended up having to replace the whole unit a few months later bc that faulty stuck timer messed up some other parts as well when we ran it not knowing any better.

    • @daveosc
      @daveosc 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      JRMSweeps i smelled a burning smell the day the drain stopped working. The timer would still advance but now it won’t nor will the unit drain.

    • @JRMSweeps
      @JRMSweeps  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could be the drain armature underneath the unit. I have a vid on my channel on how to check for that. Also, could be something electrical as well.

    How would I know for sure if I need to replace the timer? No matter what cycle I put it on, it stops at the same spot a little past the "Light Wash" cycle. It never fills up w/water but I do feel that the inside does get hot. How would I found out the part #? My home was built in 2018 so would it still use the same one as shown in the video?

    • @JRMSweeps
      @JRMSweeps  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry for the late response.
      Here is what I did to diagnose mine.
      1. Advance the timer manually to ensure the washer will fill up with water and drain. If it doesn't drain, then you may have a bad/frozen armature underneath the washer that opens and closes the drain valve. Below is a link to what a malfunctioning drain armature looks like for my model.
      th-cam.com/video/uITepjKzkRg/w-d-xo.html
      2. If the machine will fill, drain, etc., with you moving the timer manually, then you probably have a bad timer.
      You can find the part number by going to the manufacturer's website and searching for your model. There might be a qr code inside the washer you can scan as well that will take you directly there.
      You definitely do not want to run the washer without a good timer. I am sure that is why my drain mechanism froze up.

      @@JRMSweeps Thanks for the reply. I ordered the timer the other day but after reading your reply. I think it's definitely #1. I advanced the timer and still nothing so I think I need to order an armature.
