    Script:
    There are no shortcuts.
    There are no hacks.
If you want to take the easy road, I promise you: it’s longer and more painful than the hard road.
I know. I’ve lived it. I’ve ventured down the easy road at times in my life and it never led to anywhere good. The positive things in my life always came when I faced the biggest challenges.
I joined the Navy. I took the hard road in the Navy and made it into the SEAL Teams. There, I had the honor of leading men in combat. I learned some lessons along the way, lessons that have been tested on the battlefield and, when implemented, lead to success in any arena.
One of the best things I’ve learned is that anyone has what it takes to travel the hard road-to walk The Path that leads to success. That includes you. It won’t be easy. It will demand everything you’ve got to give. But you can do it, and I want to give you three key principles I’ve learned that will help you to get it done.
Principle number one: Discipline. Equals. Freedom.
That’s not a contradiction-it’s an equation. Discipline might appear to be the opposite of freedom. But, in fact, discipline is the path to freedom.
Discipline is the driver of daily execution. Discipline defeats the infinite excuses that hold you back.
Some people think motivation is what will compel them to get things done. But motivation is just an emotion-a feeling, and like all feelings, it’s fickle: it comes and goes. You can’t count on motivation to be there when you need to get through truly challenging times.
But you can count on discipline. Discipline is something you dictate.
Motivation won’t make you exercise every day; discipline will. Motivation won’t stay up late and finish a project for you; discipline will. Motivation isn’t going to get you out of bed in the morning; discipline will. Make discipline part of your daily life and your daily life will get better.
    Principle Number Two: Stay. Humble.
In life, you are going to have to do things that you don’t want to do. Maybe things that you don’t think you should have to do-things that offend your precious ego.
When I got done with Basic SEAL Training and reported on board SEAL Team One,
you know what I was assigned to do? I was assigned to clean toilets. That’s right-despite having just graduated some of the most difficult military training in the world, despite being assigned to an “elite” commando unit-my first mission at the actual SEAL Team was to clean toilets. Not exactly a glorious job.
But you know what? I did it. I did it to the best of my ability and took pride in doing it well. And that attitude got noticed: if I cared that much about how clean the toilets were, people knew I would do a good job with even more important assignments. After a short period of time, I got those more important assignments. But it was humility that opened the door for me.
Now, being humble does not mean that you shouldn’t be confident. You certainly have to believe that you are a capable person. But don’t let confidence turn into arrogance. So keep your ego in check and stay humble.

I genuinely don't think he knows what motivation means, because discipline is not the opposite of motivation, they aren't even mutually exclusive. And it's actively counterproductive to tell anyone to not get motivated because that's they same as telling them "don't want to do this, but do it anyway".

But being responsible to your words, actions, and choices is what makes it work, on what it makes bearable and trusting, having great will to do what is right for oneself and for others. Discipline cannot be always observed, no matter how uptight the person is, but doing his best to abide is what makes freedom in order and in peace.

"And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me." Luke 9:23
"Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." John 8:31-32
In other words, Discipline = Freedom. I had forgotten this through my many years of meandering aimlessly and fruitlessly through college and had to be re-taught this back in Basic Military Training, but it's what got me through that grueling trial and it's what reforged me into the man I am today.

Now without a leader and with no imposed discipline, I got my life off the rails. Now with self discipline in a matter of 2-3 months I got results. And people around seems to be more friendly. Wow, I really needed this, I have fought through really serious medical conditions, and 5 careers. This last accident put me flat on my back in bed due to a doctor's mistake on oxygen for 2 years, the world went by, family members died, and I couldn't go anywhere. At my doctors, the consensus was, this was my life, they had killed my lungs and also caused brain damage. I need a ventilator at night. My brain no longer breathes for me automatically.
That was the final straw that they waited so long to tell me what was wrong, there wouldn't be any change, no cure this was my future. I decided I was going to make it into something more than just laying in this bed, sucking on an oxygen hose and watching TH-cam.
Working hard I finally rehabilitated myself up out of that bed. It took 8 months and went back to doing what I needed to do. I lasted about 6 months. Then I was overwhelmed by financial & personal events, my car quit, had to start taking the bus, my home became a storage unit because of the deaths of members in the family, all of the things that were left behind ended up being stored in my home. That didn't help me because I'm ill, I can't move them, I thought in my mind. I'm on a medication that has made me gain 60lbs! I worked very hard to get back my health from the previous accident. Getting control I lose the weight I had gained almost 260lbs. I got it all off without the ability to exercise or any suregery, it was willpower & eating for ones genetics.
Being extremely disabled, everyday I fight to stay out of a wheelchair & off a walker, I've been prescribed them, I have been trained to use them, but I know that once I give up, I will not be getting up.
At Christmas this year, I just got tired, I was supposed to be finishing some projects at the house. I am now in my 5th month of trying to finish something that could have been done in 2 months, my motivation is gone, and I can't seem to find the discipline anymore,
Boy, really needed this, I needed to remind myself of who I was, who I've been and what I've been able to do. I can still do it just because I have a hose attached to my nose, doesn't mean that I can't just means I'll do it a bit differently. Maybe I'll be a little bit kinder and gentler to myself on the way.
Thank you, Prager U, I really enjoy your videos, thank you for being honest and educating someone who basically has been educated probably well, beyond any reasonable need. Never did finish college, kept going, there was so much to learn and enjoy. Have the equivalent of 4 BA's in totally seperate disciplines, do have one AA got the paper! Keep working to open the minds of tomorrow, you won't know till the truth is used what a great job you've done.
