      @@hardworker5588 a sign of maturity is being able to discern where the real problem lies.
      The point is to KNOW where blame is to be placed, if it is truly not oneself, then through discernment the source of the problem can be found.

      @@TheLoscla05 --- I agree . . . lemme put it this way . . . our courts view ALL women as more virtuous than ALL men . . . women aren't stupid, they know this. They know that lying doesn't get you arrested if you are female. And if you are arrested, you ain't gonna get anything but a slap on the wrist from the courts. This is what I meant by a society with ethics challenges. BTW, the same exact thing can be said about people with wealth. You can buy your way out of punishment most of the time. THESE THINGS ARE MAJOR ISSUES that make people cynical and then angry and then eventually, societal collapse.

      I don't think most down vote people watch what they're disagreeing with. I believe they downvote based on the platform. If this was a leftist website they would be more likely to agree with it. On PragerU? Gotta downvote. Silly and shallow behavior to base your opinion merely on the platform rather than on its message.

    • @chocobossxii9457
      @chocobossxii9457 4 ปีที่แล้ว +35

      Sadly what's supposed to be common sense and should be widely known is not anymore. Its come to an era where if you criticise a person for example on their behaviour or actions, and said person happens to be of darker akin color, or a different religion or culture, you're the bad guy for criticising their actions, not them for making a mistake in the first place. It's controversial in the sense that if you're part of a certain group, be it race, religion, culture, ethnicity, even a political standing or ideology, you may not have to take responsibility for your actions. You may not have to answer to any of your mistakes no matter how bad and morally wrong they are.

Then they kicked me out, got a job, things were going okay, but didn't get paid good, so couldn't afford practically anything. Didn't have enough to buy a house so went from apartment to house to townhouse on leases with roomies. Then I got in bad credit situation, was scammed too, and basically it just killed most of my motivation to do practically anything. I can't by it now, so I let go of the idea of buying now and replace with a goal to do so later.
      I plan to fulfill that goal by setting aside a small amount of my resources on a schedule that will make the goal attainable in a reasonable amount of time. This means that I take the time necessary to save the resources make moderate sacrifices to do so.

    A mature person takes on responsibilities, not obligations.
    Responsibility implies a mutual benefit.
    Obligation is to honor a responsibility in which the other party has changed their position.
    'Obligation' is the 'guilt trip' manifested in a cultural form.

    • @LavishPatchKid
      @LavishPatchKid 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Really think about how both terms are used.
      When someone says, "it's your responsibility!" - it is always in response to you not holding up your end of a social transaction.
      When someone shouts, "you're obligated!" - they are communicating you owe to some noble social purpose to keep doing something to which you are getting nothing out of.

    A psychiatrist, telling someone to CONTAIN their emotions is one of thee worst possible things you could ever advise to any person. That is literally coping 101. You should NEVER do that. MAYBE in a professional setting where you dont have much of a choice, and even then, that is still toxic to your own mental health. As a mature person, you are supposed to CONTROL your emotions, or at the very least, control your actions that follow afterwords, not bottle them up as if they aren't happening. Recognizing that you are feeling a certain way, accepting it, and taking steps to minimize the severity of what might come as a result is what a mature person does. Even if you recognize your emotions but chose to contain them, often warrants for some very dishonest communication skills. They do something to help them relax, they write, they COPE with the problem, they talk about it. They don't ignore them, or bottle them up, or however you would like to put it and then explode as a result. When you are faced with a difficult situation that is centered around gauging your emotions properly when responding to someone or something, containing your emotions can be very dangerous because you are not doing anything to minimize it internally, and thus conditioning yourself to ignore them. This guy is SEVERELY out of touch and needs his licence revoked. Its no wonder he has a 1.9/5 rating. Good lord what a mess.

    (I'm watching it for the second time.) There are several issues with this video; one of them is that it takes being mature as an intrinsic good, which I don't agree with. For example, acknowledging your mistakes to other people is good because it promotes better relations with them (and this presumably will make you happier), but not because it contributes to your being an idealized version of a mature person.
    In general, his focus on "being more mature" or "growing up" is the main problem. He should focus instead on the real benefits or advantages of living your life or behaving in certain ways. If he happened to be my therapist and if he took this same approach in theray as well I'd be very disappointed.

    The majority of people these days mature somewhere in their 20s or maybe early 30s. A small amount mature early in their teens & a few people NEVER mature. When maturity is reached, appreciation for conservative ideas naturally occurs. People start caring more about family, law and order, appreciation for history & self governance. It is easy to see that maturity is directly linked to political leanings, mature people tend to be more conservative or on the right end of the spectrum and immature people tend to be left leaning. I know this is true because I lived it myself. When I finally matured in my late 20s, I naturally became more conservative, in my early 20s I was a left leaning, bernie supporting democrat that although thought he knew everything, was actually pretty ignorant to history & the entire reality of the democRAT party. If you really want to red pill someone, just help them mature.

    I really needed to hear the one about containing emotions. It’s a really important point that people cannot be emotionless but rather control when they show their emotion.

      Age old saying, people are people. No one size fits all, as long as people disagree with each other on what is what things will remain divided. The key is to get as many people to realise the rights and wrongs as possible.

    This feels, ironic because this year when I turned 21 I went through the worst moments of my, I became broken and refused help from anyone. But long story short, I picked up the pieces and built myself a new, as man not just physically but finally, mentally. I speak from harsh experience and those goes out to all the young adults out there; when the time comes for you to grow up and become a man, you will be at the worst state in your life. You will suffer greatly, the most you will ever in your life and you will be broken, stepped over and driven to your absolute emotional and mental peak but if your strong and over come this difficult obstacle you will become a new you, a man. Nothing in life comes with a sacrifice but with every negative comes a positive and vice versa. Be cautious friends, for that will not be the first time your strength will be tested. Stay strong and prevail, things will get better.

      You can either man up, accept the reality of things beyond your control and work hard to better yourself or you can curse god and complain life is unfair while refusing to anything to do anything to make it better. Judging by your comment your captaining your own journey straight to misery.

      Joe duffy that phrase “man up” is sexist and leads to men having much harder lives due to mental illness by not acknowledging their real emotions. You obviously don’t suffer from anxiety it’s not a “calm down” moment, it’s a panic attack of some sort that is completely out of a persons control. I’m very much in control of my life and I acknowledge I can’t control everything. I just can’t believe this video says something so ridiculous about anxiety which is a real problem people have to take medication for and seek professional help but it’s apparently just immaturity. Like I said. Go off sis.

      Joe duffy Or you can get help clinically or from your social support system. Who told you the only options are “man up” or “curse god.” Humans are social animals. Judging from your comment you’ve been lacking that realization for a while.

    The message about not being a victim really resonated with me. I realized how immature I was being and I'm ready to move forward and take responsibility, and recognize that other people aren't responsible for my situation.
    I was a hardcore Trump/MAGA follower who used to blame China and immigrants for my problems. I used to think I was the victim of a war on Christmas. In the past I thought that I was the victim of certain books being in my kid's schools. I used to believe that as an American I was the victim of the election being stolen and the president I voted for not being in office.
    One time I remember hearing Trump say "“We are all victims. Everybody here. All these thousands of people tonight. They’re all victims. Every one of you.” That was the moment I knew I needed to grow up out of the victim mindset and do the hard work to build a little maturity.
    I'm happy to say that any time I hear Trump say something like "I'm the most persecuted person in history" I can't help but just laugh. Thank god I've finally taken the advice in this video, and grown up.
