He was an orphan born in this town of Fortuna and was adopted by Kyrie and Credo's parents due to the two taking a liking to Nero. Nero is also an Atheist because the parents of the family were slaughtered by demons and no "Savior" came to save them (hence his disdain for the religious goings on). His arm transformed when trying to protect Kyrie and school children in the forest you'll see in the next few cutscenes after the cut-off mark. Nero is also known for being rebellious and being a lone wolf as a knight of the order outside of his compassion for Kyrie (his lover I should add) and Credo, but he really is a kind person. He has the tough shell on top like Dante but genuinely wants to help people like Dante, even providing assistance at orphanages with Kyrie. The gun Nero wields is his personally crafted Blue Rose which is named after something that is nearly impossible. The gun fires two bullets almost at the same time, one bullet to break armor on demons and the other to injure the flesh underneath. Blue Rose is also a point of contempt against Nero by the order because guns are looked down upon. His sword is called Red Queen and it has a Exceed system that requires the motorcycle handle to spray fuel on the blade to strengthen his blows (Only Nero can use this sword effectively though because it is wild). Dante is in his late thirties here (like 36-38) which is why he looks so different/older here. The red orbs you see in the game, along with the previous games, is actually crystalized demon blood and it's the currency used to buy upgrades for either Nero/Dante, weapons, or to give the abilities you've picked up more of a boost.
I completed this game 7 times on all difficulty settings, such nostalgia) Then I ran to school and discussed it with my friend....DMC has the cutscenes that worth living for, you should definitely check DMC 5
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames haha it was like 2010 or smth, we didnt even have fiber optic internet back then) all games were pirated especially by us 16 year old kids who didnt have any money) well, idk about playing DMC 5 instead of watching cutscenes...the game is specific as it targets rather hardcore slasher genre enthusiasts so its very combo heavy, you have to perform combos to really enjoy the game and experience it in full glory, or it can be repetitive and underwhelming, if you're more casual type of a gamer
??? That’s not correct, I recently looked into it and Berial has never even met Mundus and only heard of him, as said the DMC4 novel/s Deadly Fortune. It’s never mentioned nor implied that he is his son anywhere. There are different rulers of different regions of the Underworld besides Mundus and he is simply one of them, no actual relation. Rulers (kings or princes) of the Underworld are “chosen” by their strength/power, not inheritance. Argosax from DMC2 used to be a ruler of the Underworld as well. He was the conquerer ruler of the Fire Hell and when he was defeated Bolrog took his place as the new one, until just before DMC5 where Dante turned him into fist fighting weapons. The Best Friends playthrough got that information completely wrong.
Nero is....interesting. Lots of growth potential, lots of character development to be had. The arm nero has is basically invincible, as Dante's stinger couldn't do anything to it, and he can regularly catch blades with it
Yes at the beginning I thought Dante was a villain and was weirded by how they made him evil or something but then you learn why he was killing those "people"
You know I wasn't going to miss this. DMC is the best game series of all time, and I am so glad you two are here to share in its glory. God bless also, pause and go frame by frame (using the period and comma keys) at 3:45 - 3:46 to for a surprise (lower left corner when Nero is in the air) The best part about this entire story is that it is directly implied that Dante could've done everything in the game himself with complete ease. Dante holding back for the entirety of the game is just so... Dante lol. Also a key piece of info the game does not tell you: Nero's arm was not always like that. The ability to absorb demonic energy he could always do, but the transformation it underwent occurred after an accident where he protected Kyrie. Hence why his arm starts out in a sling and why Kyrie suggests he hadn't recovered. Little did she know that it was actually an upgrade.
The first demon enemies most commonly shown if memory serves correctly are meant to be an updated design on the marrionet demons from DMC1 which were the starting enemies in that game.
I highly recommend you watch the Vergil opening to DMC 4 it’s short and sweet but it takes place before the events of DMC 4 you can put it at the end of y’all’s DMC 4 binge if you want. The only reason I say so is it’s VERY VERY VERY relevant to a VERY big spoiler near the end of DMC 5 just pay close attention to Vergil’s entrance video you can watch all his cutscenes if you wish but the opening is wats most important. Trust me it will all makes sense that’s all I can say without giving away any spoilers
Who Nero is will be answered in time - though you'll have to wait for DMC5 for the full story. Gloria (Cyborg Sex Doll That Fights) is a new operative working for "The Order" - which is the same Order Credo and the soldiers are a part of (Nero is also technically involved, but he's not ranked as highly as Credo or Gloria). They're a cult that worships Sparda, as you no doubt picked up.
Yeah finally I've been waiting for this 😃 Also Johnny Young Bosch is voice actor of Nero (DMC 4&5), the guy from power ranger as Adam Park (2nd MMPR black ranger & 1st green turbo ranger)
"You aren't human, are you?" Nero asks to Dante, who currently has a broadsword so deep in his chest a foot of it is sticking out his back. That's just funny, for some reason.
What you've witnessed Nero use is his customized revolver, the Blue Rose, which he's the only one allowed to use because of his "injury" that no one is supposed to know about, or his Devil Bringer. It happened during a demon attack when he got injured and because of...reasons, his arm changed into that. Now his sword is named Red Queen and what he's using by twisting the handle and revving is called the Exceed System. It's a customized system on that sword that allows Nero to coat his blade in a propellant when he revvs it so that when he pulls that brake looking handle, it gives him a boost of power and movement while using it. It's why during the cut scene he's moving around in such a way. It's an upgrade you can get in the game to boost your attacks. His right arm, the Devil Bringer, has the ability to absorb demonic power to strengthen itself and grant him new abilities. As to answer your question about the creatures, those are called Scarecrows. They are your most basic demon/monster you fight in the game due to the Hell gates having been opened through out the island. It's why they look like patchwork puppets. It's frankly because they are, just possessed by a demon spirit to animate it.
Still one of my all time favourite games, absolutely flawless. Just so well written and executed. The story, the characters, the gameplay, the witty dialogue, the cutscenes. Absolute perfection. P.S. If you like League of Legends characters / lore / atmosphere, you have to watch Arcane. I just won a bunch of awards for best animated series in literally every category.
That confused look on your guy’s face as you clapped , that was hilarious. It’s good to know if someone does a strange, confusing, out of context solo performance. That there is always someone out there that will applaud them. The voice actor who talks Neo Is the black power ranger from the Power Rangers movie. Johnny Yong Bosch. He has voiced many characters in anime.
"what gave it away" is basically what everyone says in response to Nero noticing Dante isn't human. Anyways ways this game got done dirty even more than DMC 2 if you ask me. During it's development the president of Capcom was the MegaMan guy and he lead a push to make their games more western (American) because call of duty at the time was selling tens of millions. As apart of this push he decided they should just push everything they had out and begin looking at other developers to help them make their stuff more western. They still made stuff in house but there's a pretty noticeable difference in their games of that era. The effect of this was DMC 4 getting a whole year of development cut when they were two years in and planned four. Some of things that got cut range from every girl having Kyrie's body model because they only had her built. To basic stuff like customizing your loadout so you have everything on at all times. Finally Dante was supposed to have a new Super Devil Trigger like DMC2's Majin Form but way better. Majin Form had an energy sword and shot DBZ style energy beams. It was basically going to be DMC's SSj3. Also Nero's arm absorbs demon power so he was supposed to get different abilities with his arm other than the grab. Instead in 2010 the president of Capcom resigned around the announcement of DmC a reboot. There was a lot of back lash because of how different the new Dante was. He cursed, drank, smoked, and had sex with strippers. Our Dante might think that's cool at first but this new guy was just unpleasant. Oddly enough in lore he had no humanity which is a big part of our Dante and Nero. By far the worst part though is the new Virgil who brags he has a bigger dick than his brother and the guy uses a sniper rifle to hide his power. Vergil explicitly hates guns and loves using his power. Anyways in response to the announcement the director of 2,3, and 4 put in his resignation. In response to that though Capcom gave him the opportunity to make his dream game Dragon's Dogma a DND inspired Action RPG with some DMC influence. It unfortunately however got it's time cut to because Itsuno had to help the reboot team. He was gone enough they ended up shipping Dragon's Dogma out early. Thankfully DMC made a comeback because DMC 4 and the reboot got a chance to be reworked. They came out around the same time and they say it wasn't competition but DMC4SE came out a month later and still outsold it. And a year later we got leaks that DMCV was coming. It's good and the team just announced Dragon's Dogma 2 so they're doing well. The reboot team antagonized a lot of fans but they're doing alright now and used it as a learning experience from what I can tell. They made Hellblade and y'all saw the sequel announcement. As for the MegaMan guy he tried doing a new thing in the same style but it failed horribly because of a bunch of other stuff I'm not informed well enough on.
@@garettfox442 Mine didn't, but I showed this to a friend and he said the same thing as you. In fact it happened to him on the return visit later in the game as well. I guess something about that area just causes issues for a lot of copies of the game?
Lots of symbology here, the shadow with two different swords, the statue (of Sparda) with two sets of scales in the Amphitheater, Nero's arm, and how he actually uses moves from his moveset in the cinematic, that they both have same aerial wind up, Dante getting the "villain speech" (the same you and I) right out of the way at the beginning, Itsuno's method of introducing a new mechanic each fight to get the player up to speed if this this is their first time like is for Nero, and more. Gloria is definitely her own thing; and while Nero has swagger, he is definitely 90s introspection and pathos compared to Dante's 80's High Ham. The mystery of the patchworks is pretty relevant to the story as we'll see. There's also an asston of side content that covers the gap of time from the game's start, from comics to books to an anime. While it's generally not considered canon it all goes together really well and there's very little stomping of toes between authors... unlike Dragon's Dogma.
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames it's fine honestly the anime just shows us two new characters that get mentioned in 5 and it tells the story of how Lady and Trish met

@@emastermet609 well, when Nero first meets Berial, Berial says that's it's been "centuries" since he was last in the human world, so I think the author for the novel got mistaken.
@@emastermet609 still doesn't mean he fought Dante. He's heard of him, but he's never actually fought him til the character switch when Nero gets captured. He refers to him as the "infamous son of Sparda", which as you said, Dante is known throughout the demon world, but in Devil May Cry 4, is their first time fighting. The "he" Berial was referring to was Sparda, since Sparda ruled over and protected the city of Fortuna long before he met Eva.
I've seen that opening a number of times but not until today did I ever notice Dante hanging up on the roof before Nero gets to the church. It's a nice detail that I can't believe I missed all these years. Also, I'm glad the graphics for 4 still hold up but I would really like it if the first four, or even just three of the four since we don't talk about DMC2, would be remastered with present day graphics. No other adjustments need to be made, just a fresh coat of graphics would be fantastic. Most games when they give you a new lead tend to fall flat, but Nero was so well done that he was able to stand the test of the players and come out with people wanting to see more of his story, thus we got DMC5. Nero is an example of a new lead done right and I really hope DMC5 won't be the last game in the series as well as the last time we see him take the stage.

Not saying what he does isn't impressive. It is. Much better than what I can pull off. But there's better players out there who don't get nearly enough attention
To me he isn't just THE best he is the GOD of devil may cry and @Xeno Warrior granted they are better dmc players it's just dongrui its just the one who impresses of the most.
It's cool but it's probably too confusing for new people. I prefer them to watch someone where boss gets to attack and show his cool moves.
@@Ctrekoz True.
Oh definitely Donguri is great
Fun fact, that big fire centaur boss demon is apparently Mundus's son, the main antagonist of the first game which is the reason Dante started the business of Demon hunting
Thanks for letting us know that fun fact 😀
Nero is one of my favorite characters in the DMC series alongside Dante and Vergil. He is just so cool and awesome.

When I saw Gloria's entrance the first time I thought 'when did this became Bayonetta?'

finally. The moment I’ve been waiting for. Can’t wait to watch you react to dmc4. Dmc is back better than ever. Now we have to watch you play dmc5 next
This gameplay will get people ready for how bad we will be playing it 😂🤗
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames don’t worry. We all were bad at one point. Practice makes perfect. :). FYI some dmc fans are toxic. So please in advance don’t take them personal
The coolest Dante of them all is here

The red orbs you see in the game, along with the previous games, is actually crystalized demon blood and it's the currency used to buy upgrades for either Nero/Dante, weapons, or to give the abilities you've picked up more of a boost.
😎👍😀
By sacrificing them to the God of Time statues.
I completed this game 7 times on all difficulty settings, such nostalgia) Then I ran to school and discussed it with my friend....DMC has the cutscenes that worth living for, you should definitely check DMC 5
Nice! Sounds like you got your moneys worth on this game 😀 We plan to play 5. Have to experience the gameplay everyone raves about 😁
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames haha it was like 2010 or smth, we didnt even have fiber optic internet back then) all games were pirated especially by us 16 year old kids who didnt have any money)
well, idk about playing DMC 5 instead of watching cutscenes...the game is specific as it targets rather hardcore slasher genre enthusiasts so its very combo heavy, you have to perform combos to really enjoy the game and experience it in full glory, or it can be repetitive and underwhelming, if you're more casual type of a gamer
I'm glad we're finally here. That same energy from 3 is back, and now we're in the era of pretty graphics.

Finally dmc series is back guys waiting how long.....
This is a longer video so needed more Mondays. Five in August 🙂🥳
@7:15 I got your holiness joke and chuckled so don't worry 😂
Devil may cry 4 is one of my favs!
🥳🥳😀
Fun fact, cause it literally never comes up, the fire demon Berial is the son of Mundus, the final boss from 1
Nice fun fact! 😀
I was just about to comment that.
@@DarkMirria1 “As Prince to the demon emperor who has been sealed away, Berial now faces ruling the underworld alone” - page 33 of the art book
@@riastradh I’ll have to go see that for myself then. Which art book exactly though? A title would help, and is it available in English?

If you look closely, you can see Dante watching behind Nero
😀
Nero is....interesting. Lots of growth potential, lots of character development to be had.
The arm nero has is basically invincible, as Dante's stinger couldn't do anything to it, and he can regularly catch blades with it
😎👍🙂 we enjoy growth
7:15 don't worry Bethany, we all noticed your pun, it was great
Yeah 8:03 😆
Thank you! Someone did at least 😒 Ken was jealous I was funnier than him 😜😊🤗
Yes at the beginning I thought Dante was a villain and was weirded by how they made him evil or something but then you learn why he was killing those "people"
We knew he had to have good reason but it was odd seeing him crash the party like that and just seemingly blow some dudes head off right away 😳
You know I wasn't going to miss this.
DMC is the best game series of all time, and I am so glad you two are here to share in its glory. God bless
also, pause and go frame by frame (using the period and comma keys) at 3:45 - 3:46 to for a surprise (lower left corner when Nero is in the air)
The best part about this entire story is that it is directly implied that Dante could've done everything in the game himself with complete ease.
It was kind of fun seeing Dante toy with Nero ngl 😂
YES!!! The time has finally come, can't wait for the rest of these!

The first demon enemies most commonly shown if memory serves correctly are meant to be an updated design on the marrionet demons from DMC1 which were the starting enemies in that game.

See the extra cutscenes for the special edition. There's ones for Vergil and Trish and Lady (they're all playable characters.)
Hopefully it’s included in this compilation. If not then we will check it out in another video 🙂
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Yeah definitely keep an eye out for if its not here.
Thanks for the recommendation 🙂
Who Nero is will be answered in time - though you'll have to wait for DMC5 for the full story.
Gloria (Cyborg Sex Doll That Fights) is a new operative working for "The Order" - which is the same Order Credo and the soldiers are a part of (Nero is also technically involved, but he's not ranked as highly as Credo or Gloria). They're a cult that worships Sparda, as you no doubt picked up.

"You aren't human, are you?"
Nero asks to Dante, who currently has a broadsword so deep in his chest a foot of it is sticking out his back.
That's just funny, for some reason.
Exactly. 😂
7:19
"Acknowledge my joke"
"..."
Devil Bringer. Love the name! Thanks for telling us more about it 😀

Crazy how well the game came out considering it got rushed. 😯
His holiness has a hole 🤣🤣 I'm dead💀

11:26 This was supposed make fun of DMC 2 when Dante was silent in most of the game 😂

Great reaction, Nero is a rather fun character to follow the journey of. Dunno if it was just me, but did the audio desync towards the end there?
not just you - hopefully it was just for us, and they didn't experience the dissonance!
No it was in the video itself we watched. At first was worried it was on our end but then double checked and it was in the source vid 🤗
My copy of the game always did that around that part
The order of the story is DMC4 SE Vergil cutscenes, DMC3, DMC1, The anime, DMC2, DMC4 the normal story, DMC5
We didn’t catch the anime and not sure we will get to it before 5 😅
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames it's fine honestly the anime just shows us two new characters that get mentioned in 5 and it tells the story of how Lady and Trish met

Berial was talking about Dante, it's explained in the DMC4 Novel.
He was actually referring to Sparda, since he never met Dante until we take over as Dante. He only knows him as the son of Sparda
@@markbaltazar6916 Novels say otherwise
@@emastermet609 well, when Nero first meets Berial, Berial says that's it's been "centuries" since he was last in the human world, so I think the author for the novel got mistaken.
@@markbaltazar6916 No but he's heard of Dante as he's known throughout the Demon World.
DMC4 opening intro was a blast back then, I thought Dante was the antognist for this entry for a sec lol
A remaster of 3 would be amazing and we’d preorder that game 😀🤩😁
