    Forgot to mention that Snake Pass has quite a few blind corners that suddenly get very tight where you realize that whatever speed you were doing you were still going too fast :D

      Yes! It's very technical 😁 it's a good road to bike on

    • @JETJOOBOY
      @JETJOOBOY 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It is lethal and is definitely NOT a good road to bike on unless the conditions are perfect and you ride it regularly, even then chunks of road can disappear over night.
      I entered the road once and 5 minutes later the radio told me that it was closed... Behind me.. 5 minutes later I was in one foot snow and couldn't see the edges..
      PLEASE don't advertise this as it's already sad death toll will rise exponentially.

    The Snake Pass is a tame road compared to the A537 Cat and Fiddle between Buxton and Macclesfield even with the 50mph speed limit. It's brilliant in either direction. Even the Strines road from Stocksbridge to Lady Bower is a more challenging road than Snake Pass. Try those routes out if the A57 excites you.

    The road was named after the inn, but the inn was originally called The Snake Inn. A later owner renamed it The Snake Pass Inn after the road it was on, creating the weird situation of the inn being named after the road that was named after it.

      Yes! It has extremely tight twisty corners and sharp inclines. Some of the path is pure gravel and even great riders slide. I suspect it wont be long before the average speed cameras pop up!

      hahaha I grew up in six different area's in the UK so my accent is an amalgamation of Scottish, Cumbrian, Newcastle, Nottingham, York and Southern German! I'm also Dyslexic so sometimes I pronounce words phonetically :D
