    Great memories, 1am nmy dad's bowling alley, wishing i had just one more quarter. The final game end sound is the best of all pinball audio.

    This has been my favorite pinball game since 1980. Thanks for posting. I can't afford or find a place for one of my own. Next best thing, watching someone play. The sounds are cool, too. Well done!

    Awesome machine, I remember this arriving at the Regal in Eastbourne U.K in 1980 and my brother and I spent hours having fun. The sound when you got maximum bonus x5 is mental, thanks for the nostalgia.

    I freaking bought a Firepower 2 years ago for $500...and stupidly traded it for an F-14. I thought that was a great trade at the time, but man...I miss Firepower!! I am working a deal right now to buy another Firepower (with OG drop targets) and I will NOT be parting with it!

    I'm picking up one in the morning. I have 10 arcade video games, but this is my first pin. I love the fact that it uses the Defender/Stargate and Robotron sounds. Actually, based on the timeline, it's probably the other way around.

    I haven't seen too many videos on this title. If I remember correctly it was one of the first to allow lane change via flipper up top to make completion. easier.
    It has to be the same voice as the Black Knight. 😊

    i have one of these and i love this game, wife doesnt care for it too much lol...... i appreciate the history behind it, and it's still a massive amount of fun.
    i have a NOS (when i bought it) back glass. i installed LEDs in my machine, no destructive heat. i think LEDs are also easier on the connectors and other electronics. think they offer more pros then cons.

    I believe RItche's first game for Williams was "Stellar Wars." Also, form my understanding, the drop targets were exchanged for the current targets more for speed and flow. As you can imagine, when the ball hits the drop targets the momentum really slows down whereas the current targets don't take the inertia of the ball away. To continue. When the game was first on location in some places it was $.50 a game. When you spelled Fire it increased your multiplier. When you hit all six targets it lit up two locks and the second time you complete the targets it lit up the third lock. Completing Power five times lit extra ball. Finally, if you hit the ball with the plunger hard enough the ball can go into the top lock.

    • @LyonsArcade
      @LyonsArcade  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What a game, thank you Matthew! Steve did Flash a full year before Stellar Wars, I've never played a Stellar Wars though...

    • @matthewbarry4464
      @matthewbarry4464 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LyonsArcade I stand corrected about Stellar Wars. Funny how Flash seems to be a more modern design. Flash was incredible when it first came out with the flashpot light and thunder effect. Stellar Wars seemed like it was a step back even though it was a wide body. Firepower though. When that came out everyone was blown away. It's the perfect game where you can get your butt kicked a half dozen times in a row then you play one game and turn it over (well, back in the day you tilted it before it turned over right after it beats the high score for three knocks and a smile.)

    Firepower was probably one the most iconic pinball machines ever designed; this revolutionized
    an era of several over designs from Williams throughout the 1980s, such as Firepower II,
    Black Knight (and BK 2000), Pin Bot, High Speed, Sorcerer, Taxi, and Grand Lizard. Probably the rarest
    pinball machine (also multi-ball) designed from Williams might be Joust; only 402 were produced.

      @@LyonsArcade I'm glad that I had the rare presence of playing Joust pinball

    I first played this game when I was about 8 years old back when the game was brand new at a bowling center, and it was $0.50. a game (back then that was a lot of money to pay for to play one game) and I earned mulit-ball on it and had a score of 350,000 and a teenager was watching me and he couldn't believe the score I gotten in the game. He was watching me play the full game. even when I earned multi-ball

    i actually have a good example of a firepower. i did the LED conversion and the backglass, i spent quite a bit getting a NOS backglass. yup its a classic. mine eventually needs new displays, can only play a 2 player game right now but otherwise its in good shape. it might be almost 40 years old but still allot of fun

    • @LyonsArcade

      i would love to but right now the only opportunity im looking for is a job. i am currently out of work and just trying to get a job. i have UI but i got to get something soon. im sick of this country im trying NOT to sell my games. i have a firepower, high-speed, bride of pinbot, apollo 13, and a jokerz. i really dont want to sell my collection. right now i cant afford to put any money into them right now, just keep them in the same condition they are in right now which is pretty good. i dont play them as often right now either, i dont want to wear stuff out when i cant afford to fix them right now

  • @charles2241

    To me, the sucker's game is spending very much time aiming for middle targets, for it is through that which you get the most balls down the middle - end of ball. As well, gunning for targets on the very ends, often results in gutter balls. The general key is to go for what we called the gates, or lanes to the top (in any game), because these often present the least danger in losing the ball. In THIS game, the top ball capture is easily attained by putting the maximum amount of force on the spring that starts the ball. A new machine could often do this by just pulling back that spring the maximum amount, but in other machines you could only get sufficient force on it's serve, by smashing the spring with your fist (as opposed to pulling it). Needless to say, smashing the spring is a very bad concept if the handle on that thing is pointed. I had my hand hurt a number of times forgetting that a particular machine was designed that way (most were not).

      +Charles 22 OUCH!

    • @charles2241
      @charles2241 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Me Hulk, me smash! There weren't often games that would benefit from smashing the serving spring, but this game definitely was one of them. I used to play with a lot of wrath towards the machine, and there were times I hit the spring out of anger, which of course meant that I didn't take into account whether it was pointed or not. BTW, I didn't think of it in those days, but I always placed a foot against one of the legs with my toes crawling up the leg, and I also used two fingers on each flipper, all in the name of hitting the flippers with as much power as I could. I'm curious if it was very normal for people to use two fingers on the flippers.

      +Charles 22 We have a couple EM games set up in our showroom right now, and a couple days ago a little girl came in and started playing one. She'd never played it before, so I kept hearing her smacking it, when I looked over, she was slapping the plunger forward as hard as she could, she hadn't figured out you could pull it back yet, lol.
