I am 40 (single and childfree) and when I think of the boys I dated in my early twenties and the emotional abuse I endured... they didn't even have to gaslight me. I lied to myself! Dating now - most men are still super toxic but I leave at the first hint of shadiness, unlike before. I am much more assertive and know my worth. Thankful I dodged all the bullets - and keep dodging them 😢 such a pretty woman

As a survivor of GBV, it’s really difficult to leave an abusive relationship. The shame alone of being in such a situation diminishes your esteem, the abuser relentless and continues with abuse not only physical but also psychologically. It took my GP and police for me to “realise” I was in an abusive relationship. It was just how things were - abuse was “normal” in our relationship. Now that I’m out, after intervention from my employer, only now I appreciate that I was carried out by the bodyguards my employer contracted to keep me safe, rather than be carried out in a body bag. I will be forever grateful to my bosses at Deloitte for their intervention. TIL today, 8 years later I ask myself “how did I get into such a situation”.

In these toxic relationships rape happens. It's just that people don't believe that your own partner can sleep with you without consenting. I know a girl who's boyfriend gave her space muffins(brownies) as an apology. She didn't know the brownies had weed in them. Boyfriend decided to sleep with her even though she refused as she was dizzy, unable to do anything. I know women who've been raped by their husbands but they don't see as such.

As someone who has been in an abusive relationship for years ,you stop thinking clearly ,your judgement goes out of the window ,the mental and emotional effects are gruesome .The reason why she was confused ,you end up not being able to make decisions for yourself hence she reached out to friends .These guys master the art of manipulation and once addicted to their tactics ,the sense of self dies .It took me 10 years to recover ,I ran away ,I was almost killed not a once off attempt .For some reason I always went back .Thank God I survived. I will share details one day .I understand her situation and her decisions completely .I was once her .May she rest peacefully .💔

In these toxic relationships rape happens. It's just that people don't believe that your own partner can sleep with you without consenting. I know a girl who's boyfriend gave her space muffins(brownies) as an apology. She didn't know the brownies had weed in them. Boyfriend decided to sleep with her even though she refused as she was dizzy, unable to do anything. I know women who've been raped by their husbands but they don't see as such.

Yoh! These girls are so poor at decision making. I think women generally are poor at character judgment, but our culture has made it worse, we value temporal things too much, old and tested wisdom of judging a man by the contents of his character is a lost relic. Common sense should tell you to run as far away from a man who neglects his own kids as you can, but well common sense is not so common obviously.
