      @@mkayokay3192 Also, once these cases are deemed "closed," it can be so difficult to get anything done - even if it's blatantly obvious - it's just so hard to turn those wheels. My first thought was, what are the statistics of women taking their own life in such a way, especially if no drugs are used to help induce sleep. It's not easy to do without sedation. I guess it's lucky that bag was checked. (Sorry to ramble on so much!)

      When my friend had a seizure, she fell between the bed and dresser and parished there from brain bleeding. Her baby crawled to her and sat with her dead body for over 30 hours with no food, water, or a changed diaper. We felt like something was a miss because nobody heard from her and she didn't show up to parent and baby drop-in night.
      My best friend went over and asked the landlord to open the door as she wasn't answering, but they could hear the baby crying. The maintenance man and landlord stood back and physically pushed my best friends in.
      People can be really disgusting in the face of death. They clearly knew, yet didn't even bother to call 911 before they shoved Pam in that door.

    The fact that April's mother had to fight so hard to reopen the case and seek justice is both inspiring and troubling. Shouldn't the system be more proactive in cases of domestic violence, or does it require this kind of public pressure to get results?

    • @Novakane78
      @Novakane78 22 วันที่ผ่านมา +176

      I'm going to be honest with you. Black and indengenous women tend to be massively overlooked. There is a huge bias against any non white victim.

      Well the perp was non yt. They don't like to bring charges against guys like him.

    • @mommy2libras
      @mommy2libras 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Well, there has to actually be signs & history of domestic violence for them to consider it a "case of domestic violence". A couple of random bruises isn't proof of sh*t- many folks, especially those with kids, have bruises right this second & have never been involved in domestic violence. And they had no real history of it. So why do you think they would automatically treat it as a DV case? Simply arguing with someone isn't DV- disagreements are a completely normal part of relationships. The legal system doesn't operate on how you "feel" about something, it operates based on evidence and if there's none there of a crime then no, they aren't going to continue to investigate.
      My guess is that the bruises mentioned on her neck were obviously not what is generally seen in cases of strangulation because if that were the case, they'd have no problem going after the person who was literally in the room with her in that short time period that morning. They do it all the time, including times when the person actually hasn't done anything, at the least sign of foul play. This could easily happen if she died relatively quickly from strangulation- it can take people up to 10 minutes to actually strangle someone to death. But if it happens in a much shorter time period and they die and their heart stops, the bruising will be minimal instead of the obvious bruises from strangulation- shaped like fingers/hands, in specific places, etc. And the fact that she had other bruises to places that would have nothing to do with her death indicates she may have just been involved in some activity recently that caused bruising so the few that did appear may be concluded to be part of that.

    • @Novakane78
      @Novakane78 22 วันที่ผ่านมา +29

      @kenw2225 nope. Statistics show that black men are the most arrested but least prosecuted and also most exonerated. Given how they bungle the case, and average lawyer could rip it to shreds, a good lawyer could get him paid.

When he was released, he returned to the home (outside) he claimed he wanted to see his kids. They only watched him from the window as he lit himself on fire while they watched. This was all because of his anger at the wife who got tired of being abused. So he decided to traumatize his kids for life.

    I am seeing a lot of these tiktok/IG/youtube cases of influencers either getting murdered or self-exiting. Part of the problem is people like to present a false rosy perspective of their life online which is very different from their actual life. Manifesting positivity doesn't work when you are ignoring red flags and constantly revisiting unhealthy relationships. Her last day reflects this in how she had a peaceful morning drinking coffee and journaling, only to then engage with the negativity in her life, her husband, and it led to her death. I think she tried to make it work with Donovan for far too long, not just for the sake of her kids, but because she felt she had to due to her online persona largely involving him. Jamie is an amazing powerhouse momma in her mission to get justice for her daughter and I hope she succeeds in getting Donovan put behind bars for life. RIP April.

    Jamie is a fighter. Her daughter lost her life in such an unfair way. Those tik tok videos of Donovan and April as a couple were kind uncomfortable to watch, only because they felt like “made for social media” content and not revealing what was really going on when the cam was turned off

    She stayed with a man with a face only a mother could love, probably because of their friendship and their son. The most dangerous time is when the woman tries to leave or divorce. He knew he wouldn't get someone as beautiful as her. Every day he woke up shocked. He look like he was on the DL.

    Did no one learn anything from the Watts case? You can't just be all online delulu all the time and ignore very real problems that are piling up. Eerily similar in how it's all smiles for the camera, meanwhile messed-up things are going down behind the scenes.
    When is this charade going to end?
    This poor young woman shouldn't have died this horrific way.

    The positivity movement, while well meaning isn’t real. Can you manifest “success” in your life, yes. I did through sheer will, lost everything, came back again. Life can be like that, up and down , death and life , not perfection. I am not a big fan of “selling” your life online, that’s me. When you do kill your self or get murdered, all previous thoughts are gone. RIP to the beautiful mother and hope her kids survive the ordeal.

      Agree. Ive always thought most of these influencer types of video are just “oooo, look at me” videos. What convinces me is how they all want to look like each other as they pose and gaze lovingly upon themselves.
      Honestly, I still wonder why anyone cares about some of the things I swipe past. Then I look at the number of followers they have 🤨
      I guess because I’m mature enough and secure enough to have lived a life not caring what anyone thought of me and not looking for approval.
