This video started out awesome and then just focused on the 4th gen. Could have been so much better if they just kept testing them till see which was best.
Not convinced with 4th yet with durable and consistent performance with the abuse Tacomas are known to deal with; nice to get a side by side but the only real true test will be time in real world.
I own a 23 off-road but I will say I really like the 2nd gen and 1st gen, I want to get either 1sr or 2nd gen as a project truck. leaning towards the first GEN.
As someone who’s owned all generations: 4th gen is leaps and bounds better than all , 2nd gen is second for that 4.0 v6, 3rd gen is 3rd for exterior appearance , and 1st gen is last place for lack of power and tight interior.
Be better to do stock vs stock on all of them not one loaded down with 1000 lbs extra weight another one with barely any added weight ect. The 4th gen needs about 5 years to prove its reliability in the higher miles. The rest of the gens are proven to last. Ive already saw some people over 300,000 miles on the 3rd gens. Mine has over 200,000 with zero issues
Advancements and improvements continue to evolve these Tacomas into a great little truck finally! These Gen4's finally compete with the other popular trucks on comfort, performance, technology and style. Good job Toyota finally entering the 21st century lol.
Some of the coolest overland builds in my area are 2nd gen... saw a real mean 2gen the other day on the road, lift kit, wide tires, the whole kit and caboodle. Beautiful vehicle.

2nd gens had a recall on the frame giving most of them new frames as of 2020 but with that said you can’t bet a first gen

2nd. Gen is the best, 4.0 V6 is a tank. 1st gen too small. 3rd gen is good, engine is okay. 4th gen we will wait and see.

For the 4th gen, that display looks out of place. The electronic parking brake should be mechanical instead of electronic.
04 double cab 4x4 with the locker. Could’ve bought a 2nd or 3rd (can’t afford the 4th ) and went with a first gen!
