“Free” is the best part. Like nope, probably one of the most expensive oil pans in his collection to date 😂 such a sick engine though, I would have been just as excited as him for sure.
Tommy has managed to maintain being the only automotive youtuber with the ability to keep my attention thru the whole video. No skipping......He also seems to be one of the only automotive youtubers actually finishing cars and not only finishing them on a timely basis, but also putting more attention into them than most cars that attend SEMA. Kudos Tommy
Right?! Tommy is (BY FAR) my favorite automotive TH-camr for all the reasons you mentioned plus the fact that he is the only one that is real and not putting on a show.
Watching a bit further and had to make another comment. Mer is putting in WORK. The B-roll and quiet shots where you can hear the work being done are super soothing. Some of my favorite parts of the videos.
*Josh* is a technician.... a craftsman.. an artist.. You never see him wielding a huge impact around the engine like a fucking baboon (like other channels/people) Respect
Did you notice when he put the brake fluid reservoir on he kept it in the bag, all so he didn't get grease from his hands on it. Man has very high standards that we're all learning from
As a tech I can tell you, Josh isn't using power tools simply because he's being paid for that higher standard of quality. If he had to work in a normal repair or body shop in CT, he would be using power tools on everything, no doubt about it.
I've been watching for a few years now and I have to say this might be one of my favorite videos you've put out. This editing is on point in the assembly/disassembly process, perfection.
Watching Josh work is so satisfying, especially watching everything get torqued to spec. I don't know why but it's very therapeutic and I could watch hours of it.
What a baller setup! The quality is on point. You can tell Tommy and Josh make a great team. Tommy has the attention for detail and Josh is like that old school jdm mechanic that just uses hand tools and literally torques everything. What an awesome build!
I was about to comment on josh not using dielectric grease on the coil boots but then he explained about not installing the plugs. Never forget anti seize on the plugs and dielectric grease on the boots/wires boys and girls
Who remembers the day Josh pulled up outside the old shop, Tommy said I have spent time convincing Josh to move here and I have big plans things will move forward you will see soon. Guess what Tommy had bigger plans than most thought and Josh was his ACE, Tommy knows his stuff and what he wants, Josh can see Tommy's vision and make it work.
Getting Josh was probably the smartest thing you ever could've ever done. He's not the biggest talker but his attention to detail and how he works really is awesome to watch!
Damn watching Josh work is art man good shit. Made me laugh when he put it together because he knew that engine was gonna look dope. Can't wait to see the final product
Im going to say this again so it echos josh is an amazing mechanic the attention to detail is insane with the help of tommy planning you guys rock now if i could just afford to get a skyline i literally drool over the cars you guys build thanks for the entertainment ever since i joined Nov 26, 2012 thanks to the whole crew
Ben with his Duck Dynasty cammo! Rumour is he has a “hide” out the back of the shop and he’s sitting patiently chewing away waiting for his chance to get Rudnik between the eyes!
Gheeeez, super perfection! Tommy, Josh and company will soon be picked up by network TV for a series. What we're witnessing here is, top tier restoration!🔥🔥🔥
When Josh was applying the permatex to the oil pan why did he switch from inside the bolts to outside? Wont that let oil seep through the threads on the few he switched sides on?
The reason being is the studs that pass through are sealed. So outside around studs is the way also following every oil pan I have cleaned and removed. I never have leaks.
@@shokunin_era Ahh okay makes a little more sense now! I just noticed the different sides for the those few and was curious! Thanks for taking the time to reply!
Josh could do this in his sleep by now.... Tommy: (immediately points to brushed on paint and run's on a 40k engine) The attention to detail, thank's HKS...
That was one of your best thumbnails so far! What a cool engine to have from HKS! Was wondering where the engine slingers attach, thanks pulling my RB26 in the next few weeks. That Remade in USA ITB kit is 🔥🔥🔥
Please for the love of god keep doing videos exactly like this, watching all the shiny zinc and new parts go on an engine most of us dream about while Phil Murr records.... absolutely fucking insane!
Can I just say how fucking awesome this whole thing has turned into I remember the chop shop days and the badass builds u did to now seeing you build a gtr restoration shop and just how professional and great the builds are. I’m so proud and happy I got to watch the come up please keep up the great work and I truly can’t wait to see just how far u take it!
I never used to be a JDM guy, especially since I worked at GM Oshawa. But after watching hours and hours of Tommy's videos I have been converted. You're an inspiration Tommy!
Tommy is restoring these cars better then Omori Factory IMO. They are combing the reliability of factory with trusted and proven aftermarket upgrades. The attention to detail is insane. Tommy has the same attention to detail in sourcing and procuring parts that Josh has in building them. Its the perfect balance and they are putting out some incredible cars.
The RTV on the pan started off as inside the bolt/studs, then went outside for the last 1/4 of the pan wouldn't this leak around that hardware? Awesome built none the less...just something I saw.
Not at all. The purpose is to maintain as centered of a compressed bead as possible based on install regardless of where it is. Studs are sealed and my pans don't leak.
Your vid’s motivate me to do restoration or just specialize on bmw z3s. I had one but sadly got wrecked and I loved the car since and still do. Junk be hella dope with an rb
another EXAMPLE why this is the best car builder/restorer channel on youtube and its baffles me that you only have 237k followers not that its a low count but still greets from the netherland PAPPE TOM
I'd be interested to see a day in the life type video for you Tommy. I have no idea what your "day to day" tasks look like now that you've assembled your team, and I think it'd be cool to find out haha.
You can match that paint on the valve covers pretty easy your paint rep can come out and take pictures upload to your computer and your painter should know how to tint to dial it in
had a similar experience to you guys saying the pistons are in a box outside of the engine, i got a built ej25 from a engine builder here in sydney, and i opened up a spare box with 4 pistons rings in it and freaked out thinking they assembled the short block without the rings 🤣
I'm surprised Josh didn't use an adjustable wrench for the HKS assembly. I hear it's much easier.
Rounded off nuts n bolts give that lil extra custom look 👌🏼
@@aceburgers8801 exactly, it brings out new metal from underneath
circle bolts are a new sema trend this year no more hex shaped botls
Rounded bolts = weight reduction
🤣
I love how stoked they are about the "free" R33 oil pan on a 40k engine 😂
With paint runs 🤣
“Free” is the best part. Like nope, probably one of the most expensive oil pans in his collection to date 😂 such a sick engine though, I would have been just as excited as him for sure.
Free $200 oil pan isnt so bad lol
Shart

Right?! Tommy is (BY FAR) my favorite automotive TH-camr for all the reasons you mentioned plus the fact that he is the only one that is real and not putting on a show.
I could not have said it better myself.
I mean people are paying him to do these builds so I'd hope they be done in a timely manner. But you are right.
So true! I’m glad I started watching his videos again.
Naa. His shit is trash
I just realized how little Josh uses power/pneumatic tools. he takes so much care and time with his work, so awesome
Tommy knows how to pick em
yurrrr🔥
TBH it shouldnt be surprising on 40K engine build or the cars they work on.
a lot of mechanics would probably use less power tools but customers don't want to pay for the time usually.
He never seems to be rushing to get things done, just does it correctly.
Watching a bit further and had to make another comment. Mer is putting in WORK. The B-roll and quiet shots where you can hear the work being done are super soothing. Some of my favorite parts of the videos.
You mean ✨ glamour ✨
My hears where nutting on that B-roll
Having the filmer is probably the best move tommy has made for his videos. Dude kills it.
Mike take notes
@@maldenfoster 🏳️🌈🏳️🌈lmfao
Wow.. I have no words. Phill killed it, Josh killed it, and 20 minutes seemed like 5.
So proud, you all deserve it!
Absolutely love seeing the filmer film josh doing what he does best, more of this PLEASE
If this was an hour and a half long watching him work, I’d watch the hell out of it.
Absolutely 💯% true 👍!!
Watching Josh assemble that RB with the music playing softly in the background was relaxing
Wins at Martinsville this weekend and Tommy gets his engine in to start his build. Good week for Bowman.
*Josh* is a technician.... a craftsman.. an artist..
You never see him wielding a huge impact around the engine like a fucking baboon (like other channels/people)
Respect
Not even using an electric ratchet just his hands, ratchets, and a torque wrench.
My guy Josh is the machine.
Did you notice when he put the brake fluid reservoir on he kept it in the bag, all so he didn't get grease from his hands on it. Man has very high standards that we're all learning from

Cool to know josh really is never “working” since he loves what he is doing
I've been watching for a few years now and I have to say this might be one of my favorite videos you've put out. This editing is on point in the assembly/disassembly process, perfection.
I wanna see Josh's old civic get the fyeah treatment...
You know he deserves it and it would be cool to watch...
Episdodes like this make me feel like I’m watching a professionally filmed TV show
I love watching Josh work. All hand tools, no cross threaded, rounded, overtight, stripped hardware anywhere. Really, a true master of the craft.
Watching Josh work is so satisfying, especially watching everything get torqued to spec. I don't know why but it's very therapeutic and I could watch hours of it.
Watching Josh work on an engine / engine bay is just pure bliss! The dude knows his shit!
I can't see a big wood crate without thinking there's a leg lamp in it
Can we see Lee's car in the sun?
What a baller setup! The quality is on point. You can tell Tommy and Josh make a great team. Tommy has the attention for detail and Josh is like that old school jdm mechanic that just uses hand tools and literally torques everything. What an awesome build!
Love watching a master mechanic at work and being able to hear all the little clicks of the rachet and spanners is different and I love it.
I was about to comment on josh not using dielectric grease on the coil boots but then he explained about not installing the plugs. Never forget anti seize on the plugs and dielectric grease on the boots/wires boys and girls
This was one of the most satisfying videos on this channel. I can watch josh work for days. The man does great work!
Watching Josh building up the engine from the short block is like therapy!😍
The clips of the engine being built and the music playing in the background is amazing. Could watch hours of that shit
Phil does a great job on those glamor shots!😂 that engine is epic. Can’t wait to get my hands on an rb lol

Josh has the best job. Work on nice cool cars that people care about and get to take his time doing it
Extremely happy to hear about the plans on your 32. Been wondering for a while what the plan was
I'm so fucking stoked for his 32! It's gonna be immaculate
Tommys famous line “ it doesnt come with it but we have 3 on a shelf”
Lol
This was one of the most satisfying videos that I've watched on this channel. We're fortune to see Josh and his craftsmanship.
B-Roll assembly footage was insane. Excellent content lately
Dang, that is such a baller move with that motor. Even the port block-offs are dope.
God damn dude. Josh is such a fucking beast! A mechanic with a temperament of an artist.
some of the most satisfying car content on YT. Both Josh and your attention to detail is insane.
Note the dude doesnt use air tools, or battery powered impacts... all hand tools and torque wrench to finish.
Ben with his Duck Dynasty cammo!
Rumour is he has a “hide” out the back of the shop and he’s sitting patiently chewing away waiting for his chance to get Rudnik between the eyes!
DAMN...Philmurr STEPPED UP on this one. This is what the people want to see. Josh is a magician. LETS GOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

This video is dope. Excellent editing and music. Sick asf HKS engine. Josh, one of the most legit car guys on YT putting it together.

The satisfaction of hand tightening new hardware into clean threads, insert angels
INSANE!! pure car PORN! I suggest you get fyea spec badges and sign every car that you build and number them .. GREAT work as always!!!
Just purchased an r32 with a vcam. Built by up garage in like 2018, diagnosing a few issues and hopefully getting it running good. Love the vid!
Love the assembly footage. Would watch everytime.
Shoutout Bowman for the win this week. Grats dude.

As someone who builds my own engines, nothing makes me feel better than seeing all those bolts getting put in with fingers instead of power tools 🙏
I hope you get to interview Alex on here he's my favorite driver this year with 4 wins jeep up the fire 🔥 content Tommy
Josh's workmanship is incredible 👌👍
The rtv for the oil pan was applied incorrectly. Should be applied inboard of the bolts. Outboard will cause leaks.
Studs are sealed. Inside there isn't the same contact. My oil pans don't leak.
I like how Josh uses normal tools and not battery stuff all the time
Long time viewer and I want to say it's nice to see how far you've come. Love the videos more and more. Keep kicking ass 🤘🤘
Yeah, LZ might have bought the enthusiast version of Disneyland, but I'd rather hang out here for a day. I could learn SO much from these guys.
Bowman’s GTR is gonna fuck
I started having PTSD flashbacks watching Josh do the turbo water and oil lines. I did mine while everything was still in the car lmfao NEVER AGAIN.
Josh is an artist no doubt and Phil mer is killing it with the new vids
Tommy's block deserves that turbo he's been hiding away 👀$3000 KAI I'm on to you bro lol
Josh might be the most patient person I've ever seen.
Seeing Tom saying "Skyline brothers" was funny as hell idk why it sounds so weird coming from him lmfao
7:28 that little extra spin to spread the application is 🔥🔥🔥
Josh kills it!!!! TommyFreshhh. You have done a great channel bro!!! Great stuff. One of a kind.
Tommy (filmer) and Josh working together is pure ASMR.
The coated hardware really does make the engine pop 🔥
Josh is a full blown Takumi .. American takumi
Your vid’s motivate me to do restoration or just specialize on bmw z3s. I had one but sadly got wrecked and I loved the car since and still do. Junk be hella dope with an rb
I could watch josh assemble motors for hours on end
Last time I was this early tommy had Audis in his shop and the og slick top for a 1j
And people called Picassos shit art, what josh does is real art 🔥🔥
Very cool to see your getting one of the HKS engines in your r32! 🔥🔥
So your client wants a “ Dusty “ but in FYEAH spec.. I can dig it ✌🏽
another EXAMPLE why this is the best car builder/restorer channel on youtube and its baffles me that you only have 237k followers not that its a low count but still greets from the netherland PAPPE TOM
Josh does great work.
🔥The HKS Gods have spoken🔥 "angel sound" lol Hell yea, so sick cant wait to see it in the bay.
Tommy I recommend using ACF50 as anti corrosion compound to spray overy everything to protect that sweet HKS setup
You guys should do a full cinematic engine build start to finish. Those shots of the Rb28 were absolutely sick!
I thought the ARP assembly lube went on the contact surface of the bolt itself. Not on the threads?
I'd be interested to see a day in the life type video for you Tommy. I have no idea what your "day to day" tasks look like now that you've assembled your team, and I think it'd be cool to find out haha.
I miss the V-spec. K-miata and V-spec were my favorite builds on the channel. To think you have a Supra laying around make the possibilities insane
You can match that paint on the valve covers pretty easy your paint rep can come out and take pictures upload to your computer and your painter should know how to tint to dial it in
the ambient music for the b roll is so much better than the generic beats heard on other youtubers' content
One of the most 🔥 Fyeah vids there is. KILLING IT boys!!
Phil murr has been killing it
I think everyone just appreciates the over all care taken with all the cars an builds so far
had a similar experience to you guys saying the pistons are in a box outside of the engine, i got a built ej25 from a engine builder here in sydney, and i opened up a spare box with 4 pistons rings in it and freaked out thinking they assembled the short block without the rings 🤣
for 40k use can have that, me personally id have a 3.2ltr nitto stroker
