I'm sick of censorship and game studios treating gamers like they are all children. Also what’s the point of rating a game for maturity if they are constantly going to censor female video game characters, and if the massage MugenLord is reading is saying the censorship is not meant to attack any particular ideology yet it's always and only female video characters that get censored never male video game characters then that's just a hypocritical statement in itself. When female video game characters do get censored they make her flat chested, so clearly the particular ideology they are not trying to offend are the small minority that believe there are more then two genders, identify as opposite gender, and women. Doing this is going to make the majority that believes otherwise feel attacked when the majority of gamers are straight males that are fans of a game franchise that game studios are simply gonna lose the push away.
When I saw this, I when into the rabbit hole and this is what I found. The key art is not in the game’s gallery, the game’s thumbnail is censured in other regions and platforms, I check (Steam US, PS US/JP, Switch US/HK/JP). The US trailer is the same as other versions until the ending when they show the full promotional art(you can see part of the uncensored art mid trailer). The official SNK Twitter account shared the uncensored art and it seems like physical versions of the game will have the uncensored art for the box cover, I have seen pix’n love and most likely limited Run Games will be the same.
@@KimSamaVideos Its not capcom. Capcom had nothing at all to do with the publishing or distribution of this game at all especially as this is a port release. The steam, ps4 and switch release ditigal or the box art don't even credit capcom as a publisher as its correct because SNK is the one doing all the word with code mystics for this release. The reason it was censored mostly likely in the west is due to SNK raiting boards and such in the west so they censored it. Here is an example of games that had censored artwork on the nintendo switch, yes nintendo switch. Senran Kagura Peach ball, Dusk Diver 2, Disgaea 6, Amazing Princess Sarah, and so on. Games like Senran Kagura and The Amazing Princess Sarah came out only for the nintendo switch first and were censored in the digital and box art for the west. Nintendo censors the box art in the west to get along with the rules of the rating system and as to not get flagged for it thus they cover the ladies up but the games are all the same in content. This is what SNK is doing. The thing is for some reason noone calls out nintendo on always censoring western box art. Well here is pretty much that, just added a warning I guess for good measure but the game is uncensored. SNK tweets the uncensored version because their audience is global and same for Limited Run games. They only censor the art for the western promo to appease the west. Many companies do that, as I said nintendo is one of them. I'm still getting this. At least they left the game intact which is a win.

That's definitely on Capcom. The only time I'm aware SNK made different version of covers for their games was when asked by the platform. It was their 40th aniversersary collection, they made a variant box art with Athena on her armor instead for the PS4 and GOG versions. And as for warnings, they only had photosensitivity ones, and a lot of times they're not even in the actual game, just in the box and/or the manual. Now that they don't even have to care about investors anymore, I just can't see them bothering with stuff like this unless they're partnering with someone else that cares about this stuff.

Even if you have a partnership with someone, it doesn't mean you can do just do whatever you want with their IP, they have the right to influence the final product. That's basically why MvC Infinite had a bunch of characters that were in the MCU but not a single X-Men, Capcom had to abide by Disney's rules. SNK has to reach an angreement with Capcom and get their permission if they want to re-release this game, just like how Capcom needed Disney's to make the Marvel Vs Capcom collection a thing.

KOF 15 everyone is covered up and the only girl upfront is turned away. The game itself isn’t censored. The disclaimer at the beginning is probably because Dan does a special where he “jacks it” I saw when I was Chun Li and I was fighting Dan. The game is definitely not censored on Switch
Check out all the recent KOF games, they remove Mai all together in the box art or only add the men, or so on. KOF13 Dream match, Mai was removed when in all other past releases she was showing quite abit but was just removed. KOF14 Mai's chest is completely covered up by Kyo's arm. KOF15 the closest you get to a girl being on the cover is her turned around. KOF2002 and so many more all the ladies aren't on the cover except their heads or its just men. This has been a thing in SNK for years now. SNK with that Saudi money but I doubt that it might be the reason. Its due to the issues the west makes so they cover it up and put warnings. The ones who censor box art alot are nintendo. Senran Kagura, Amazing princess sarah, disgaea 6, and so on. They cover up the ladies but the in game is as normal. Nintendo does this to bypass the western protesting and SNK is doing the same here which is fine since the game is the uncensored version. I'm hoping to get a physical copy of this. I still enjoy SNK games even with all the censorship of the box arts. But once they ruin it by censoring in game stuff its over. Like when they censored metal slug, or ruined KOF12 for the world by not including Mai in the game.
There's an unreasonable amount of outrage over what is effectively just a piece of key artwork used in the trailer/steam store page. The entire game is fully uncensored for the first time in the west, this is a huge improvement over previous releases. They could easily have said, all western releases were censored in the past, so we're just going to keep doing that, but they didn't do that, they're releasing it uncensored, that's what's really important and I think people shouldn't lose sight of that. Given the choice, I'd much rather have some censored key art and a stupid warning over having another censored release of the game.
I personally stopped supporting Capcom after they went on a crusade on modders and doubled down on DRM. Not to mention they made Monster Hunter Rise unplayable on Steam deck/Linux. Main reason why I rebought MHW on PC and wanting to get Rise on PC is mods. I respect and SNK more than Capcom. I bet it was Capcom that's responsible

Very lucky that SvC Chaos doesn't have any DRM. And everything seems to be developed by SNK, and it's more on the ESRB side. (It's even available on GOG rn. In fact, everything in the game is uncensored)
You got the company wrong already this is SNK's game, it was published only by them. Capcom had no involvement in the re-release of this game just the "okay" to use the licenses for the characters. Capcom isn't even credited anywhere on the box, on steam, on consoles or anywhere as a dev or publisher so its all SNK. Though if there is another game that capcom has that got censored feel free to do that, but here you need to make an SNK petition if you want it to work.
I still have my doubts if it was Capcom. Is a SNK game which are basically owned by Saudi Arabia and they dont care about that BS, the new art was only censored on the west and only for the digital version, based on the cover art of the physical version from Pix n Love. This isnt the first time something like this happens to a cover, a couple of years ago Natsume released a Remastered version of Rocky n Pocky ( Kikikaikai or whatever is in Japan) and happened the exact same thing with the cover art. The west version was censored, covering the cleavage of one of the female characters. For me this sound more of ESRB or any of those rating orgs. Mai will be in SF 6 and will be like always, based on the teaser. There is something else going on here pushing for those changes. Im not defending Capcom, they have been censoring females for a while.

As someone who don't like censorship, since Sony ruined one of my favorite company, the situation for this game, IMO, is a non-troversy. Playing the game and I can say it's un-altered, the promo art is not in the game. Code Mystic addressed the situation, the disclaimer is due to dialogues between fighters and having "religious" reference, that includes the lore of the game. Supposedly about fighters fighting in "purgatory" where 2 deities (Athena and Fire Brand) overseer for Order vs. Chaos, I know it's something. Code Mystic were told to put in the disclaimer. As for why the Western trailer is censored, Code Mystic believe it's regulation, since 2019, trailers are now required to be rated in the West and they believe whoever made that decision may have some concern that "kids" could see the trailer. Box arts and digital storefronts in the West sadly have to be modified in order to be displayed whether in stores, or digital storefronts. I don't agree with the situation, but can't do anything when regulations are involved. Like it or not, SNK just trying to cover their butt. As for it may be a Capcom issue is that SNK is using their IPs and Capcom possibly may have some concern, that's my guess. Just because it was developed from a different company, they still need to be concern when using other IPs.
Also, the English version called Rugal's Jenosaido Cutter "Destroyer Cutter". TH-cam would remove the comment that I have to use the Japanese spelling.

Four things that make studio censorship on their games. The platform that game when landed. ESRB rating. Country marketplace standard. ESG/DEI points system.
My God, it was such a nothing burger for whoever controls marketing to edit the promotional art. As long as the ingame content isn't altered that's all that matters.

Too many people don't understand that this is an argument about principles. "Why do you care so much, it barely changed anything", counter question, if it's such a meaningless thing, why did Capcom change it in the first place? You don't have an answer, because answering that would first require admitting that you are wrong, that this DOES matter to Capcom, and that the change existing in the first place showed that it mattered to them. OUR problem is that we're angry knowing they are willing to retroactively change art just to appease people that aren't customers anyways while paying customers LIKE OURSELVES have to endure needless changes to appease tourists. If you want to guard the big stuff you have to guard the little stuff too, it's that simple. Them changing minor things like this OPENS THE DOOR for big changes... Which has happened, a LOT as a matter of fact. It's a red flag, a WARNING SIGN for other bigger changes that no one asked for. And remind me again who actually has a problem with Mai's appearance in the first place? Oh, right, the exact type of people who shouldn't have any say in this franchise in the first place. Oddly enough, it seems there was a limited edition for preorder which included a large print or mat type thing of the key art, uncensored as far as I could see. So it might be some BS marketing type of thing, like with Rebirth that they had to remove the blood from the trailer even though it was in the final game. Still, Crapcom being Crapcom...I wouldn't trust.

This isn't a big deal to me cause the game itself is fine, jiggle phyiscs and blood are there. Honestly I'm wondering where all these SNK "fans" came from. I don't think people causing this backlash are actual fans ot King of Fighters or SVC Chaos, but you have a point why would they try to avoid backlash from a minority group only to gain backlash from an even bigger group fans or not it would have been better left alone. Also cover art always gets altered or censored in the west for some reason, probably an ESRB thing. I know for a fact that SNK wasn't the company behind the censorship of the key art or that cringe ass disclaimer. This is DEFINITELY a Capcom move. It has Capcom's stench all over it.
They will not have the girls son the box art in the west. You want abit of proof of current censorship? Look at the box art for KOF 14 and how mai's chest is covered up fully by Kyo. KOF 15 everyone is covered up and the only girl upfront is turned away. The recent re-release of KOF13 Dream match Mai has been completely removed from the artwork when in the steam version she was there and bent over showing her backside and cleavage so its all just the guys in the KOF13 dream match. Even the recent 2000 releases are covered up too. You guys are very behind in seeing that SNK's been censoring art for awhile now. SNK is smart though since you all didn't catch on they remove or cover up character on all their art that way there are no regional differences since its all the same. So who was at fault for all of their past KOF titles? I would enjoy hearing the culprit of every single game title from KOF 90's and above to KOF15 for the past decade to decade and a half. You don't know anything for a fact youngter. A fan of over 20 years could teach you a thing or two about SNK past and present. I mean the big shareholder from SNK is from Saudi so there is also that for possible censorship as SVC chaos does have religious stuff in the OG version thus could explain the warning, but its not fully my old SNK company anymore though at least the games are uncensored in game just not so with their box arts.

The game itself isn’t censored. The disclaimer at the beginning is probably because Dan does a special where he “jacks it” I saw when I was Chun Li and I was fighting Dan. The game is definitely not censored on Switch

There's an unreasonable amount of outrage over what is effectively just a piece of key artwork used in the trailer/steam store page. The entire game is fully uncensored for the first time in the west, this is a huge improvement over previous releases. They could easily have said, all western releases were censored in the past, so we're just going to keep doing that, but they didn't do that, they're releasing it uncensored, that's what's really important and I think people shouldn't lose sight of that. Given the choice, I'd much rather have some censored key art and a stupid warning over having another censored release of the game.
I personally stopped supporting Capcom after they went on a crusade on modders and doubled down on DRM. Not to mention they made Monster Hunter Rise unplayable on Steam deck/Linux. Main reason why I rebought MHW on PC and wanting to get Rise on PC is mods. I respect and SNK more than Capcom. I bet it was Capcom that's responsible

You got the company wrong already this is SNK's game, it was published only by them. Capcom had no involvement in the re-release of this game just the "okay" to use the licenses for the characters. Capcom isn't even credited anywhere on the box, on steam, on consoles or anywhere as a dev or publisher so its all SNK. Though if there is another game that capcom has that got censored feel free to do that, but here you need to make an SNK petition if you want it to work.

I still have my doubts if it was Capcom. Is a SNK game which are basically owned by Saudi Arabia and they dont care about that BS, the new art was only censored on the west and only for the digital version, based on the cover art of the physical version from Pix n Love. This isnt the first time something like this happens to a cover, a couple of years ago Natsume released a Remastered version of Rocky n Pocky ( Kikikaikai or whatever is in Japan) and happened the exact same thing with the cover art. The west version was censored, covering the cleavage of one of the female characters. For me this sound more of ESRB or any of those rating orgs. Mai will be in SF 6 and will be like always, based on the teaser. There is something else going on here pushing for those changes. Im not defending Capcom, they have been censoring females for a while.

As someone who don't like censorship, since Sony ruined one of my favorite company, the situation for this game, IMO, is a non-troversy.
Playing the game and I can say it's un-altered, the promo art is not in the game. Code Mystic addressed the situation, the disclaimer is due to dialogues between fighters and having "religious" reference, that includes the lore of the game. Supposedly about fighters fighting in "purgatory" where 2 deities (Athena and Fire Brand) overseer for Order vs. Chaos, I know it's something. Code Mystic were told to put in the disclaimer. As for why the Western trailer is censored, Code Mystic believe it's regulation, since 2019, trailers are now required to be rated in the West and they believe whoever made that decision may have some concern that "kids" could see the trailer. Box arts and digital storefronts in the West sadly have to be modified in order to be displayed whether in stores, or digital storefronts. I don't agree with the situation, but can't do anything when regulations are involved. Like it or not, SNK just trying to cover their butt.
As for it may be a Capcom issue is that SNK is using their IPs and Capcom possibly may have some concern, that's my guess. Just because it was developed from a different company, they still need to be concern when using other IPs.

Oddly enough, it seems there was a limited edition for preorder which included a large print or mat type thing of the key art, uncensored as far as I could see.
So it might be some BS marketing type of thing, like with Rebirth that they had to remove the blood from the trailer even though it was in the final game.
