He was so good that I didn’t realize it was the high-note when he sang the high note 😂😂 it was so effortless
When you sing really high notes, it is better to do it like that.
He played jesus in a production in my hometown, I was in the ensemble... this number was so consistently perfect EVERY SINGLE NIGHT!! now he gets to do it all over the country... pretty damn cool!

He's like the love child of Aaron Tveit and Christian Borle. And this is the best acting I've seen with this song honestly. And the most effortless high note hit I've ever heard. Just slid right into it.

Lauren Faerber I actually forgot that John sang it this way but every other time Ive heard this line its been “take” not “destroy” so my guess is creative liberty?

Saw JCS on closing night in Denver. Stunning performance to a packed house with a standing ovation at the end.
Just purchased tickets to the Pittsburgh performance. Please tell me that the show was really that good. I read some grumbling reviews online.
@@gingerchipper If you're looking for mesmerizing, thought-provoking, wow-factor entertainment, this is excellent. If you're looking for a biblically accurate, reverent depiction of the final chapter of Jesus' ministry on earth, you might be uncomfortable with certain parts.
Rich Uhrlaub Thanks for the reply. This will be the fourth time I’ve attended a performance of the show. The last one was on Broadway in the 90s. As long as they stay true to the music, I’ll love it. The criticisms I’ve read are that the lead (LaVigne) looks lost and his performance is sub par, and it is “chaotic” (whatever that means). Some reviews said that it was difficult to understand the words and it was more screeching than singing. I was surprised at the LATimes review. Generally, I don’t pay attention to theater critics and have obviously ignored them since I purchased tickets anyway. Either way, I’m looking forward to the performance on the 1st of January. I’ve been playing the hell out of my JCS CD. Again, thanks for the reply!

I just saw him perform at the Hippodrome. A truly fantastic cast, and he was ASTOUNDING as Jesus. Powerful, passionate, raw, and vocally mesmerizing. He makes this role his own while showing such respect and diligence to the part and the story. I would love to see him perform again- one of the best I’ve seen in memory!
It's unfortunate that we couldn't have the full orchestra behind him! It's a bit odd to hear just the piano, but he's undeniably amazing.

Henry Basilio It is, they added pitch corrector over his performance which is a shame. It’s much harder to catch than auto tune, but it is very much there.

Just saw him in Costa Mesa, CA. He was playing an acoustic guitar during this song and blew us all away. He killed that high note!

He’s got the right emotion for this song, and his singing is really great. Brings me back to when I got paid to play lead guitar in a performance of JCSS, (different Jesus) but honestly being apart of this show, with the great actors we hired from around the US, was really awesome. Being able to do 12 nights to audiences of hundreds of people was also great experience for me playing live.
Just saw the show in Baltimore and everyone was amazing but this song in particular was insanely good! He also accompanied himself on the acoustic guitar. A totally amazing talent.

I just saw them perform Jesus Christ Superstar last night, and I literally haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. It’s AMAZING. Probably one of the best performances I’ve ever seen. This song hit me really hard, so hard to the point where I actually cried silently to myself😂 The acting, the music, the dancing, EVERYONE was so perfect.
