Your pattern might not be so high if you were not putting upward pressure on the barrel. if it’s anything like a fire rifle slight will make your shot go off
@@ReviewThisThing Talk to text will do that sorry. There is a great review that MDT does on torque on a rifle barrel. Different pressures laterally or horizontal vs impact. I’m sure it would be similar for a shotgun
Great videos. After having a tom hang up at 70 yrds while youth hunting with my grandson, I decided to try the TSS loads for a little extra range. I could only find the Federal 3" 7/9 combo locally so I patterned my 835 using a Carlson TSS .673 choke. I had a tom hang up with a hen at 65 yrds in a clear cut....knocked him down clean. I'm a TSS believer. I bought the Carlson TSS .640 choke for my Mossberg 500 and I will be mounting red dots and patterning both the Apex and Federal in my 500 and 835 for next year.
Congratulations!!! I bet that 500 shoots sweet. I’ll be interested In what you think about them. Check out our Verdict video, too! They put a hurting on a Tom for me this year! th-cam.com/video/k_BvXW_BnQs/w-d-xo.html Thank you for watching!
What was the point of aim at 40,60,80 yards. How high over did you hold? I just started back turkey hunting I bought a Beretta A300 Ultima with a Carlson TSS choke and at 40 yards is impressive. But I held dead on at 40. Just wondering about 60 and 80. Enjoyed the video
Congratulations on getting back into it! At 40, I held dead on for sure. During the test I'm pretty sure I held the same point of aim, but you can see that the center of the pattern is a bit low. I feel like at 60, you could hold right on the turkey's head instead of the neck and be perfect. At 80, you'd probably need to be a couple of inches higher, but I'm not sure I'd shoot at 80. Thanks for watching!
We haven’t tested them necessarily, but that’s what my husband hunts with. He uses an HS Undertaker choke. It’s what he’s used since we started shooting Apex. He hasn’t tried anything else 😊
The shooting through cardboard is not new. I remember reading about shooting through cardboard 20 years ago and testing my son's 20 with copper plated shot before there was any TSS. 30 yards for our gun and chock was the max back then.
I’m shooting the Turkey Ninja’s out of my Weatherby SA-459 with a Carolson’s .555. LOVE the pattern I’m getting. Already took an Osceola this spring! Waiting on the VA and WV seasons to open now. 🦃😁
I believe you failed to point out that your gun had the Indian creek .555 in it. I have the 870 compact and the Indian creek as well and it patterns way tighter than any other choke tube I’ve tried and I’ve tried just about every choke on the market. All in all it was a great video.
They’re definitely not cheap! I’m sure it’s at least partially materials. If you watched the video, you’ll see the draw - tighter patterns at further distances with “lighter” calibers. So someone could very effectively hunt with a .410 and ethically kill a bird at 30-35 yards. They’re not everyone’s cup of tea, though.
So just to be clear, you run an HS Strut Undertaker choke out of your 20 gauge (the camo one) and the shotgun you used for this review, you are running an Indian creek .555?
I’ve best testing out a few chokes. The first video I filmed last year was with the Undertaker. My camo gun runs an Indian Creek .555. This video I filmed with a Trulock .560. There are 2 shots in this video with the Indian Creek - one at 40 with the #9 and the one at 80 with the Small Town Blend.
I love my #9s
They're definitely pretty sweet.

I got the first part, but don’t understand the second sentence.

@md3280 ahhh. Okay. Yeah - my phone rarely understands me. 😁

That’s what I get for not wearing cheaters and hoping my phone understands my accent.
@md3280 😁
Great video! Thanks
Thank you! And, thank you for watching! Make sure to check out our other turkey pattern videos - AND we have a lot more coming!

Small Town Blend for the Win. Hard to beat
Crazy pattern at 80 yards!
Like a sore pecker
Yep!
I have all 3 apex loads, it’s hard to pick a clear favorite.
Yeah. I picked the Turkey 9’s because I already have those 🤣
That's all I shoot, this year I had to use 3½ shells 7.5 shot because it was the only thing I was able to find, folded a big Osceola at 46 yards!
I bet those packed a PUNCH! Congrats!!!!!
Great Review!!! Awesome job as always!!!!
Thank you!! That means a lot!

WOW 🤩
Right!
@@ReviewThisThing Have yall done any testing with APEX 12ga. If so what choke / chokes did yall find that worked the best for yall?

I feel sure the Trulock and the Indian Creek would both be great, though.
Did you change chokes between loads?
No same set up for each load. Then switched.
@@ReviewThisThing would go with less constriction with no.9. That’s way too tight. If the bird steps out at 15 yards, it’ll be a miss.
@20cameron1 good point.

You know what, I think you’re right. I don’t think I did mention that. It’s a great setup for sure! Thank you for watching, and thank you!
Awesome video 👍🇺🇸
Thank you, John! That means a lot!
Those were some dead turkeys! Good review of the ammo. See you next Sunday!
All of them! Thank you! And you certainly will 😊😊
Saw you on Cloves channel!
Subbed and watching.
Hey! Thank you!!!!
Why does it cost so much? I mean, what's so special about it? I looked these up and they are ridiculously priced.

You got to come down. Did you take a breath through that whole? You got to stop talkin and take a breath
I’m sure I did at some point 😊 It’s all that running I do.
