My son had the back up light issue on his ‘86 Monte Carlo. Turned out to be the switch. On his car, it was a horseshoe shaped switch sitting on top of the steering column. Easy peasy!

my wife and I have been married since 1979. I watch all your videos but she don't. She did watch one of the motorhome videos and like it. Well, she watch the last Wildcat video all the way to the end because she had a 1969 Grand Prix and really liked it. So much more to the story but, the reason I'm sending you this message is because she wants to make an off of $4000 for the Wildcat. We live in North Central Illinois and it would be about a 14 hour drive to get to you. I do have some physical constraints so it would be a bit of a long trip for me but, I'm willing to give it a shot. Anyway, let me know and God bless you and your family.

If your V-belts are squealing, give tbem a spray with silicon lube, soon quietens them down and, contrary to logic, they don't slip.
Another tip, spray copius amounts of WD40 into the front of your alternater with the engine running around 2000rpm, helps keep it lubed and stops the brushes from seizing up👍🏻👍🏻
That is one really lovely car, love the colour, love Buicks❤

Suggestion: for engine-bay cleanups, get yourself a cheap, 1-gallon plastic pump sprayer for the de-greaser. This will make quick work of the application, saving the hand exercise, and the wand will get in all the hard to reach places not easily reached with a bottle sprayer. Trust me, this will be your go-to method for de-greasing engine bays prior to pressure washing! 👍

I absolutely LOVE the thorough work and attention to detail that you fellas have! NICE JOB!!
Something to consider - when you have different metals such as steel bolts going into aluminum timing cover, the steel and the aluminum react with each other and create electrolosis - which creates a white powdery corrosion as it eats away the aluminum and seizes the steel shank of the bolt. To prevent this reaction, a fella can coat the bolt with a thick coat of copper anti-seize lubricant.
Hope that tip helps you guys in the future! Thanks once again for another GREAT video!

It looked like your alternator shaft my be bent or pulley. While that particular hitch looked sketchy they would often put them on at the dealership. People look at it crazy now but the salesmans brother would give you a sweet deal on a fishing boat or camper next door. Every time I've tried to change one coil spring on a old car I'd end up doing both. It would never sit right. Car looks great. Really fun video.

Great video. It is a good practice to install the harmonic balancer before you tighten down the timing cover bolts. This will center the front seal onto the balancer and a few bolts can then be tightened. The balancer will likely have to be removed again to get access to all the timing cover bolts. Failure to do it this way could result in the seal not being completely centered and cause oil leaks or premature seal failure.

    • @BudgetBuildz
      @BudgetBuildz  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@piddmr Thanks! And Very good point! This specific cover uses large dowels, with no play at all. Unlike most covers that have some movement. On most any other we would install, as you mentioned. I guess Buick was confident in their machining and fitment 😅

I'm a Buick fan from way back, had a first gen Riviera with a 401 Nailhead and a Dynaflow. With your engine, not only should you do the timing set but the oil pump. Buicks have always had oiling issues to some degree, and you can study up on them. T-A Performance or Kenne-Bell ( if they're still around ) have the pieces.

I was 22 when this car was built so these were commonplace back then. It's unfortunate that so many people today think a full-size car is a Taurus or Honda or Toyota. A lot has been lost since then. Thank you for a great job on the Buick.

  • @garysimonson9593

I think I'd try Ospho under that car. Spray from a garden sprayer with a wand so you can get in the frame rails etc. That should leave a clean look with the rust neutralized. It's cheap and would clean it up well, as solid as it is.

Now if everybody would price their cars to sell like this one we'd have an excellent market for classic cars. Everybody wants to hype up prices on every car out there. That's why a lot of people especially the younger generation can't afford to get into the hobby and keep these old relics alive. And then we have resellers that are going to buy something like this only to turn around and list it for $10k. There will be somebody out there that will buy it too further driving a wedge between affordability and keep the hobby alive. What I'm I complaining about? I already have my classics that I'm holding on to. Great job on the car, and keep it up. I look forward to your next classic car rescue.

Hey! I really enjoy all your videos! I’ve especially enjoyed watching this Buick! That is a quality car brand! We’ve had Buicks and Caddies for years. I’m hearing you “arrive” at a price to sell this car, and besides all the parts and accessories you’ve spent money on, you need to consider “LABOR”. You take your car to a garage and the labor is the same price as the parts in many cases! Some mechanics charge $100-$150 per hour! After watching you put this car back on the road, in my opinion, $5500-$6000 would be a modest price & profit for you! Something to think about…..LABOR!

That car looks so good. You did such a fine job. Giving a dollar cost run down at the end was a great way to finish off.

33:51 So fun fact for your pushing in the shock the way you would want to do it is put the bolt in tighten it up but leave it loose, put the weight Of the car on The suspension and from their tighten up the lower bolt

What a beautiful old car. I had a 1972 Pontiac LeMans sport sedan in the exact same exterior colors. Should never have sold it, wish I had it today. Isn’t that the way it always is? That car is easily worth $5K or more. Count your labor and not just your parts. I love your revivals and your channel. Keep them coming!
