      on the F10 I don't see the need for a reinforced manifold.

    Thanks for sharing mate, never had them on my M57 and currently cleaning out my N57S. Whats the reasoning for removal? I know they they had a habbit of breaking off on the M57 and now on the newer ones help with idle airflow efficiency, did you notice any difference in the lower rpm range at all?

    • @BestCarMods
      @BestCarMods  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For the older M57, yes apparently the design wasn't that good. I my case I removed them because everyone was afraid of them braking and getting in the engine, however after seeing their construction, I don't see that as a big issue. At the time, that I have done this work, I did not really pay to much attention to how they work. Looking back I would just clean and inspect, and as long as you don't see them damaged keep them as they should improve low rpm torque. No difference noticed, it is a 3.0d engine that has high torque no mater what :)

    Hello Bogdan, did you notice any difference of power deliver afterwards. Deleting that valves?

    • @BestCarMods
      @BestCarMods  ปีที่แล้ว

      no difference. theoretically you are loosing power at low revs due to low atomisation of fuel.

    Hello Bogdan, what did you do with the valves on the intake manifold? were they cleaned and installed, or did you buy other flaps?

    Which intake gaskets did you use? I am not planning to delete the swirl flats, but I had a look on eBay and there's loads of Chinese kits for like £15. Are they ok to use? Is there a brand you recommend?

    • @BestCarMods
      @BestCarMods  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the gaskets where chinese and worked ok. I had problems with the metal plug as I have done the delete. If you don't do the delete, I would say that any gasket kit should work ok.

    Hi, guys, I have a 2013 bmw 3.0 twinturbo diesel N57. I replaced a coolant hose pipe. In order to replace this, I had to remove the manifold (+few sensors / lines etc).. now I’ve put the car back together, when I fire the car up. It takes around 5-7 seconds to start. It feels like it will fail to start, but always starts. Power is full. Drive is normal.. never had this issue before. (No engine lights) (nothing on code reader.
    Any ideas what it can be ?

    I am still not convinced that cleaning the intake and or valves actually gives any benefits from a turbo charged diesel. Had it done on a few old cars without noticing anything and now have a f10 530d with 130k miles I dont think its worth anything even though it is probably as caked up as yours is... Pressurised air bring forced into the intake will get there regardless of soot build up unless it is really >50% closed over?

    • @BestCarMods
      @BestCarMods  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You have a very good argument. Let's debate a bit your theory. Until a certain point is valid ... but ... 1. your intake is not always pressurized by the turbo, so at low revs build up will reduce the air in the combustion chamber. 2. at fast changes of rpm/engine load your engine will not have the correct air to fuel ratio due to the build up (it is expecting something but in reality is not receiving what it was calibrated for)... things might be controlled by the emission control systems (aka oxygen sensors + dpf) so you don't see the smoke from your unburned fuel ,but you are still loosing performance, efficiency 3. at max load again not enough air, loose of power and bad emissions 4. over all bad emissions 5. your swirl flaps are not efficient . Now overall because the N57 engine is a 3.0 with 6 cylinders, you are still be able to use the car without that much "impact" on your perceived performance. We rarely use all the power of our 530d. although it is a dirty job to do , I would still do it on my car ... by the way ... just cleaned the intake of my 2.2 diesel accord ... massive difference ...

      Definitely worth a clean, I had to have my intake replaced @ only 69k because of the carbon build up. Glow plugs were also changed along with the glow plug control unit then followed by the EGR.
      All the crap fed back through by the EGR caused the swirl flaps to jam. This caused the connecting pin between the actuator and the metal rod for swirl flap operation to snap. Extremely High emissions, very bad performance.
      forget an economical engine, the Fuel consumption was ridiculous. Lumpy and rough hesitant engine. it was smoking constantly even at startup, idle when smoke shouldn’t be visible. £1500 to have the
      Just the intake replaced. £680 for plugs and the control unit inc a due oil change. £400 for changing the EGR. I Learnt of which then intake damage could have been prevented if I had known about how dirty they can become. But was obviously too late for me at the time.
      3 weeks later my directors X5 went in for the same thing. I used a local bmw specialist for works and They said his was the 9th intake they had fitted that month, inclusive of mine. Definitely consider a clean pal, what have you to loose other than a few hours 👍
