Just a side note, if you don't upgrade your phone regularly and have an older Android system it might not support Active Captain. Be sure and check support for your phone or be like me and have to buy another phone if I want to use this feature. I wish I'd known about this before I bought my Garmin.

So can i get the waypoints from the head unit to my phone then disconnect my phone from my head unit and have the data on my phone only? Goal is to eliminate taking my garmin to a tried and true spot and only have my phone. Only way around that would be to make a waypoint from my phone when i have my head unit with me i suppose to answer my own question.

@@zimmermanseth It totally works to do what you want. When you connect your phone to your unit it syncs both ways. So new waypoints from your head unit sends to your phone and vice versa. Works great in the aspect of fishing on a buddies boat or something. You still have all your info with you!

I have a new unit with the free 1 year navionics +..What’s the difference from the maps you download from the app, compared to the maps on the unit???

    • @BassAndBrews
      @BassAndBrews  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

I’m not entirely sure. I have never had navionics +. I think it can give you more accurate maps for the lakes it supports. I believe there are lists online as to what lakes are supported by navionics +, but I haven’t seen specific details about what is different per lake.

I note that User Data automatically synced between your App and your unit. I have a 93 UHD and this is not happening when I connect. Any advice

Hmm let me look into it. I seem to remember a setting that was for auto updating or not

I'm very frustrated with Garmin. I have Two 12 inch displays and one 9 and they are all different generations. Trying to get these things all on the same frequency there's been a 4 month battle and it's still not done
The act of Captain app has a lot of steps which is tough to do when you're on the phone and at the boat.
I'm not denying that there are good units but unfortunately my computer skills haven't kept up with the technology
You missed a lot of the beginning steps to deal with Act of Captain so the hunt goes on

@@rogerdickinson920 I’m sorry to hear that you have been having issues. I have had a few issues with my garmin unit too over time but Garmin support has been very helpful. What steps am I missing at the beginning?

      @@BassAndBrews thanks for the response.
In my case what is needed is a step-by-step video and voice tutorial outlining every single step that needs to be taken to load up the ActiveCaptain app.
In another video there are a couple of locations where you’re entering passwords and I don’t know if you enter the same password in or that has to be a different one
also with three different multi function displays, 2-12s and a nine , whether I have to do this procedure for each unit.
Also the reactor for the auto pilot won’t sync with the handheld.
In my case what I do is watch the video, slow the playback speed down to 75% and then do a voice to text on the Notes app on my phone and then print it out.
Original installers didn’t do a water test with me on board in order to get everything synced.
The local dealer who sells a manufacturer as well can’t do it and told me to call Garmin. The same firm told me all my units were up-to-date yet when Garmin sees a picture of my screen tells me I’m 26 updates out of date.
Perhaps you can understand my frustration.
There is a boat dealer that sells Garmin plus hummingbird and others but there guru is at a fish camp until end of September.
Another company I went to went broke.
      So the struggle goes on

@@rogerdickinson920 Goodness, that is a different situation than mine. I only have the one unit so I can not accurately talk about the intercommunication between units. I can give you my thoughts on what you have going on, or how I would attack it. So you talked about passwords. So you will only have 1 Garmin account with one password. That is the account you are signing in to on your Active Captain Phone app. You would then connect your head unit to your phone and then you could even register your products in your active captain app which will allow you to get updates. The other password you may have is on the WiFi for each unit itself. This is where I am not sure if you can create a WiFi network that talks between units. As some background, the WiFi from your unit is only a way to make a wireless connection from the unit to your phone. Usually when we see WiFi in our lives its connected with "Internet" thats not really the case here. We are creating a WiFi network on the Unit, then connecting the phone to that network, then the phone and the unit can talk. The phone still has Internet with its data plan, so thats how you are able to get data from the internet through your phone to your unit. Now, each unit could have its on WiFi network so in that case each network is specific to that unit. So you could have a different password per network. I would advise to call the network something similar on each unit then use the same password so you don't have to remember 3 passwords. Then you would have to connect your phone to each units WiFi individually to do updates and such. Again, this might be bypassable if you can get all 3 Units on the same network but I do not know how that works. I also have another video I did on this here th-cam.com/video/5qU4YbVJeAQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=n13wvzRhj8Q3O8Nn . its pretty much the same info but I re-did it since the app looks different now. Hope some of this helps.
